Lalafell, strength and you! Light up the Sounsyy Signal.
Tiergan replied to Warren Castille's topic in RP Discussion
This thread has gotten long and I'm admittedly missing a lot of it now, I'm positive I'm probably just repeating what people have already said several times in the thread, but as a miqo'te player, I always accepted that Tiergan at his physical peak would not ever be as powerful as elezens, highlander, roegadyn at their physical peak. They're simply much bigger and if bulked up to their apex, they could just have way more mass than he ever could achieve. By the same token, I always subconsciously felt that a lala at their physical peak -- if we ignore every factor like agility/intellect/etc and just focus entirely on strength -- wouldn't be as powerful as certain midders, highlanders, roes, and elezens at their physical peak. Especially roegadyn. The idea that a lala could be equally as powerful as all the other races in terms of raw strength alone, kind of admittedly makes things a little boring. Tiergan being smaller and less physically imposing makes combat much more interesting when I RP him facing off against someone bigger and heavier. THAT SAID, not every single opponent we face in RP is at their absolute max physical prime. Like Bumo said, you can have a mix-up of strength levels in fights and this could very easily explain something like the very phyiscally powerful lala-miner twins that were capable of picking up and tossing out 'weak' or 'average' midders on their arses. It would also explain the Pugalist lalas (coupled with other factors like their speed/chakra/etc), and all the lala guards. It would stand to reason that lala-guards would be training and working out enough to have the strength necessary to do their job and anyone they simply can't out-muscle, they out-speed. -
Thanks guys! I poked Yssen via PMs too and I'm now kind of excited to sort out Lurial's main combat weaknesses. ::rubs hands together:: ... I also have to find time to revamp her wiki. :V

So while working on Franz' piece, all I can say is Great Axes are goddamn enormous. -
My love is very diverse. I am into both sexy muscles and tiny, adorable things. \o/

Gelfradus will have his own silver prepared, but if your character brings her own, it might lead to even more interesting results. (IC silver of course. No need to bring actual mats!)

Just a reminder that this is happening in 3 days! o/

I can understand why people would say no, so I don't begrudge anyone for it. Sometimes it can spoil the narrative arc of a character's story for details to get released too abruptly via a third party and a lot of the time, it's just more fun certain aspects of your character to be discovered through interaction as opposed to someone paying another character to provide the info. Roswyn using arcanum as the poison to her daggers sounds like a really neat idea! Maybe I should sort out something similar where Lurial blends roguery and spellcasting in a unique way. Perhaps with only physical combat or only spellcasting, she's not the greatest, but in merging them, she's able to hold her own.

I like the information broker angle, but at the same time, I don't really want it to be the main aspect of her character. RPing an information broker is tough, because any information Lurial actually knows on people has to come from those folks with their OOC consent. If they don't want Lurial to know anything IC, she 'fails' at her 'job' and can in some cases come off looking really incompetent. :V

Wow, that armor in the first picture looks really snazzy on ya!

I need halp. ;_; I've not RPed with Lurial in months because I'm just not having fun with her anymore and am considering shelfing her for good. I still like the idea of Tiergan having a sibling, so I was hoping maybe folks here could help me hatch up some solutions. As a bit of background, way back in the 1.0 days, Lurial Vashir was my main. At the time, she was not a mage, but more of a rogue-ninja type melee character that was forced to act as an assassin/slave-hunter for crime lord due to unfortunate circumstances, while having a more public face as an information broker. When 2.0 hit, (and I couldn't give the highlander male I was creating eyebrows T_T) Tiergan Vashir was born as Lurial's twin brother. I really wanted Tiergan to be a gladiator, so I decided Tiergan would get all the melee classes while Lurial would get all the magic-ones just to prevent myself from completely losing my mind leveling two characters to 50 with similar jobs. Lurial then changed from a roguish femme fatale assassin who spends most of her time active, fighting, and struggling with a lot of self-hate towards her forced profession to an eloquently-spoken, intellectual, information brokering spellcaster who spends most of her time in her study, buried in books and research. While I love it when other players RP as the highly-intelligent bookworm mage, for Lurial, I'm finding that it's not really my cup of tea. Friends have suggested I try to merge the 1.0 concept and the 2.0 concept together, which I sort of tried to do, (had pieces of her 1.0 history basically be elements of her past). However, I'm still not really enjoying it. At the end of the day, think I want Lurial to still retain the feel of a dangerous, dextrous, close-quarters, in-your-face assassin, but I feel like it would be received poorly if Lurial was both a nimble rogue-lady *and* a mage. I could just retcon her being a mage at all, but a lot of the RP I've done with her in 2.0 revolves around her being very clever with spellcasting and I'm kinda reluctant to let that go. (I know, I'm making it harder for myself. :V) Anyone have any suggestions?

The thing that makes me sad about those is that if you use a light color like blond or white, it's *really* obvious it's facepaint.

It's okay, Kale. I can give you glistening muscles too. I can give all of you highlanders glistening muscles. ::steeples fingers:: -

Fun fact: Tiergan would have been a highlander if I could have. fucking. eyebrows. So every highlander painting is getting eyebrows just to spite SE for their lack of insight. -

This is actually really interesting. If it actually worked out that way, it would suddenly make sense that your average lala could pack a punch hard enough to match that of a hyur. Or at least hard enough to make bigger, bulkier races think a little. Somehow I don't see the FFXIV lore-team thinking this far. :V -

I always assumed that while Lalafell could train to the point of getting really physically powerful (like the miner twins) - as a whole, they brought other advantages to the table in terms of martial combat. The lore already explicitly states that they're agile and intelligent -- they're obviously really tiny. It makes sense to me that fighting against a skilled lalafell opponent would be like fighting a super fast, super hard to see/hit opponent that is analyzing and breaking down all of your moves to determine their next strike. I personally don't think a lalafell and a roe that have undergone the exact same training would have the exact same level of physical strength - but could the lalafell win if they fought? Sure, it's possible. He's got a whole different fighting style than the roe by default. Backed up by training, (or if they're a monk, by chakra/ki/aether/etc), their strikes could also likely hit hard enough to really hurt instead of say -- bouncing off your opponent. -
Hng. I'm sad I could not be part of the awesome picture times. Looks very awesome!

*NSFW* ERP- should both IRL partners be okay with it?

Even if he's not doing anything wrong, they're obviously incompatible with one another if they were so bad at resolving their issues that she decided coming and airing out all the details on an RP forum was a good way to find solutions to her problems. People shouldn't stay in relationships just for the sake of being in them. Or the OP is a hilarious troll. :V
