God of commerce though...how can I miss it. I may be there in less flashier 'street clothes' to quietly observe. Otto is too impure to partake.
-
Maybe Vader someday later; Now he's just a small fry... Oh wait, wrong rendition. Paddle. You have a wooden paddle. With a nail through the end of it. You /do/ realize Otto has started his ascension to Paladin-hood. Ive got the paladin rock eqipped and I have sword oath. Itll hurt like hell to get hit with it.
-
But how will Tonk know when to show up be the face of Quicksand vigilantism. I've got a wooden sword and everything.

What a cute couple! Gratz!!! It was OOC I am going to sue Otto for this scandal I was OOC too. (I posted it because its a great screenshot though I look amazing (you do too)). -
Hm, maybe I've been lucky but I haven't had trouble with IC/OOC bleed too much in regards to others. A lot of my IC 'girls' are friends with me on skype and some are even so bold to refer to me by my real name. This is fine, all of them understand we are friends and there is some solid as fuck trust there. They know I'm married, they know my wife encourages me to do whatever I want in game - and we have fun. We have IC relations for sure but OOC we're fine. In fact with Kerwin my old IC romance, we know quite a lot about each other behind the screen and we have an extremely firm grip on ic/ooc romance bleed. I dunno I guess Ive been lucky. Even after we had to split IC due to real life and IC schedules schisms we still remain good friends and there is no overt attachment. Then again last night I was getting admonished quite well for bleeding my IC/OOC in a Linkshell for being a bit too crass and/or lewd when talking to people versus only being a skirt chasing horndog IC only. Or perhaps I treat people while they are OOC as though they are IC sometimes. Im an offender in my own small way.

The only thing I REALLY dislike is when people know that I roll Syndicate and have a lot of assumed political / economic influence and/or might and fuck with me on purpose to instigate something. Otto never fights or combats. So Im always like...fuck what do I do? I hate being thrust into confrontations and I always wonder if I should sick the hounds (ridley, jaiythe, tsubasa, etc) or just walk away. But thats all because Im still very new to RP and learn as I go. Maybe one day when someone approaches me and goes out of their way to start a confrontation I'll be comfortable enough in my character to just snatch the life out of them.

Fight Club Event - Bare knuckle fighting. Any interest?

People can kick if they want. They can WWE for all I care. Unarmed is what matters. -

Hand to hand. Though I guess boxing more than MMA? I dont care though. Unarmed brawling is what matters. -

Good good. Like for me I know there are a LOT of people who have rough and tumble backgrounds with scars from all the street fights they get into and blah blah. Why not show us all how good you got at fighting. Or even the weekend enthusiasts like me who just enjoy seeing/involving themselves in fighting. Show up and beat the fuck out of people. Hopefully there is interest. -

When you say flesh it out what do you mean? -
Title says it. I like the grindstone but my OOC biases about fighting affect my IC biases about fighting. I love boxing, and I love watching bare knuckle brawls even if that is a bit...crass and abhorrent to some. I dont particularly care for people fighting with swords and armor on or other weapons, or rather I'd prefer to spectate fighting that has no weapons and armor. Actual legit fighting with weapons is ok but less interesting to me as a spectator when its for sport. So I want to set up an event(s) that are maybe 'underground' fighting with a Fight Club vibe. I want nit and grit. I want to see people beating each other until theyre tired of it (lose). I want to see people venting their frustrations from a long week of annoyance. I want to see some people maybe showing up in masks to protect their identity so they can enjoy beating the hell out of someone. I want to see injuries perhaps (only if healers are onsite to cure them right up to a point where there is no permanent harm). I want to see unarmed combat. I don't want to be uber cliched and walk around talking about rules where you DONT TALK ABOUT FIGHTCLUB, but I am thinking of having a grit feel to it much like the movie / book portrayed. I want to see a circle of people jeering as two people fight each other in the middle of it, cheering for blood and reveling in massive blows that ruin someone. I am looking to avoid a lot of pomp and circumstance. I want a down-to-earth feel. No flashy introductions, no massive alter egos (though they are fine to have) that take up long massive WWE style introductions. There would be rules, no weapons, no powers, no ultra-strength that punches holes through steel walls, and no armor. That might make it too boring though because theres only so much creativity you can do with hand-to-hand combat. The flare and fun would have to come from people exploring their creativity in their combat /emotes perhaps. What do people think about this? Is there any interest in this? Too ambitious? Too cliched? Id be putting money on the line and we would basically steal how the Grindstone goes about its combat rules with dice-rolling and such. To add a bit more detail Im thinking this is a once a week thing. ICly Otto is doing this for his love of seeing fighting. I doubt I would ever contribute and actually participate in the fights. I will not be wearing a mask and hiding my identity. I will prefer to have one, maybe two fights at the most going on at the same time so that everyone else can watch and cheer and jeer. It will not be winner take-all. It will be like an 80-20 split to the 1st and 2nd place finishers. It would be like the grindstone with single-elimination brackets and if people want to pick their opponent I would be ok with it. I encourage all walks of life to show up, sworn, street rats, office jockey type people, adventurers, etc. Still formulating the idea in my head but this is all I have thus far. Im also wanting to do this on Sunday. Maybe 6 PM Eastern Standard Time as a rough idea when it can start. Please everyone give feedback on the time. I do not have an idea for location yet, but I want it to be indoors somewhere. Whether its a building in a town somewhere or someones FC basement perhaps... [EDITS ARE ACTIVELY BEING MADE TO THE OP OVER TIME AS I COME UP WITH MORE FEEDBACK AND IDEA. PLEASE REREAD AT YOUR LEISURE IF YOU COME BACK.]

Storyline introducing SCANDAL to an event involving winnings
OttoVann replied to Kage's topic in RP Discussion
Thanks for saying it like this, my tired brain at work was struggling to conceptualize the problem. The grindstone is advertised as not 'sport' but at the same time it has a following for a reason like any sport or competition. It is possible to have that ruined and maybe less show up overall. Who knows -
Does your character have any unfair Bias or Discrimination?
OttoVann replied to Kage's topic in Character Workshop
It's hilarious that you consider your character down to earth after writing A Typical Day. It was an entertaining read and if that's what you want with your roleplay, fine. But there is absolutely nothing down to earth about Otto if that story is a typical day in his life. And you stating that your RP is such after ragging on straw-man Miqo rpers so hard takes the cake. Come on people know when I say that I mean powers and stuff. Its not a straw-man though, for better or worse. And when you quote me dont forget next time to add the important qualifiers "who want to pick a fight". Quoting me like that is a bit disingenuous and makes it look wrong. I generally leave it alone that people have powers and I actually dont care too much, but when they IC just act like aggressive people who want to fight all the time with me for...whatever reason, thats when Otto starts to think less of Miq males since he has run into a bunch of hot-headed ones. Like I said not all of them are viewed as lesser and Otto is fond of the ones that are level headed - Val, Shonji, and Ziuz after him and I settled our differences. -

this is all very true and I wonder how it would affect the people that I have helped guide to the GS as well. It was at 18 participants last week and I helped in that with a few people of my own. You also have valid concerns about the money IC/OOC. I just like sponsoring it to show off in a sort of way. Ive always been very open and clear with Sindl if he wants it to stop just say so and I can only give like 150k over half a million (which is the plan for this week). Actually yes if Keiran comes through and pushes me, her and I will both give 500k this week putting it to a base of 1 million before other benefactors show up. Is 1 million actual gil too much for something like this? I dont know. Its a decent amount of money even to someone like me Id love to have a million more gil just handed to me. Who knows maybe Im meddling too much. By the way if Keiran doesnt show up Ill only put up 300k this week. That means at a minimum the payout will be 350k which is much smaller but at least its something. -

Gosh, its too bad the money wont OOCly flow to the 'winners' when the rigging is happening. How else will I throw money around now ;__; Actually I have an idea....time to post a new thread about fight club inspired events that maybe Iron and I could host. -

I definitely argued with you months ago when I RP'd that fight with my buddy Cerii. Can I take you to dinner to make up for it? -

Well for the longest time I would never touch a Miqo. Fem-Miqs to this day are largely generic and I rarely care for them. Lately though as my slut ways have grown Ill bring them around. I still do think less of most Miq males too if only because for better or worse the large portion of IC interactions I have had with them were...stupid. A lot of Miq males think of themselves as anime-powered hot-shit with wolverine claws and true ultimate power that can raze a city and are more than willing to pick a fight. Maybe Im too down to earth in my roleplay but when my arms are as thick as their waists...like really dawg? Get off me catboy. Though thats not to say all Miq-Males are viewed as awful people, I just have a bias towards them from running into all the wrong ones. Id still be gay for Shonji. -
Can I come as Tonk, my crime fighting alter-ego. Or Sand-Man?

[NSFW] A Typical Day [Closed][OOC comments welcome and encouraged]]
OttoVann replied to OttoVann's topic in Town Square (IC)
I first met Crofte months ago after being a relative newcomer to Ul'Dah and its business. She intervened in a nasty bit of business I had with some slut-thief of a woman known as Cerii. Cerii had stolen my pants and shoes out in the wild and while I won't go into much detail on how and why that came about, lets just say I managed to run into the wench in the Quicksand. True enough I was fresh from walking all the way back to Ul'Dah and as I was headed to The Quicksand to enter my room I happened to see her and stormed across the bar in my smallclothes and suit jacket to confront her. Again I will spare the details but after a very large and loud shouting match with the thief-bitch, Crofte stepped in to put it all to rest. She reimbursed me my twenty-thousand gil for the lost pants and shoes and took the harpy into custody though I don't know what came of that. After all of that had happened and I found some time to cool down I realized I was a bit hot-headed with the Lady Crofte and more than a little rude to her. She rightfully should have slapped me in the mouth with a mailed hand but kept her composure and was the epitome of professional and also a bit gorgeous I quickly noted. I immediately started putting together plans for her, one asking her to dinner, two using those incredible looks for my gain, and three just figuring out what the hell she was. Its not everyday someone can stand up to me while I am fucking furious and not wither from the experience. However, all of this aside, I'm quickly approaching Crofte so we'll just have to go over our history another time. As I approach her I know she has seen me because she's got a bit of a habit of taking in a deep breathe as subtle as she can. I always see it though since the armor around her breast area rises ever so slightly - more than usual. I personally don't think she despises me, or is scared of me, but all the same she has a habit of 'preparing' to speak to me. I like to attribute it to her having a deep-seated attraction to me though I think that way about everyone in their regards to me. Crofte also has the custom of speaking as 'properly' as possible with me and goes out of her way to mask that accent and natural enunciation that is clearly not from Ul'Dah. I may have lost a majority of my hearing as I've gone through life, but even half-deaf I can hear she hides it and at one point I was ever so bold and asked her about it and she was...most upset. I've learned to just disregard it and take to interacting with her as she is versus what I know. As I walk up beside Crofte I always mime her pose. She's either standing with her hands on the side of her hips as she scans the room and stands solemnly or her arms are across across her chest as she guards. Today her hands are on her hips and I'm quick to mimic her. I never speak to her right away, I simply stand silently and scan the room as she does, smiling all the while as I let a few moments pass.
