  1. YES. That's what it does at least 75-80% of the time for me. It's SO frustrating. Seriously. I think I've forgotten half the time it's there because I'll Shuffle away a card I don't need for the exact same card. Thanks for that, SE. My RNG luck is bad enough with crafting, let's just apply that entirely to a mechanic of a class. ... In all seriousness, though, I have a lot of fun with the Astrologian. But I should probably figure out what cards should go on who at some point. I mean, most are obvious enough to figure out - Bole, Ewer, Spire, Balance - but the Arrow and Spear? I usually just end up Royal Roading or Shuffling them for something I know how to use. :blush: Spear reduces ability cooldowns, and you need to use it before an ability is used for it to be under effect of the card. I think pretty much all classes benefit from it, but it's difficult to use to maximum effect in a PUG (but then again I don't really pay attention to what others are doing in dungeons if things are going well ). It could be especially effective in raiding though. Some examples of using it would be: giving it to a BRD before they pop their buffs, a PLD before Hallowed Ground, or saving it for yourself for Essential Dignity, Lightspeed, Luminiferous Aether, etc. Arrow increases skill, spell and auto attack speed, so best on DPS. I've read lots of different arguements on why you should give it to certain classes, so can't be any more specific right now. :blush: As a caster it's awesome on speed runs, but then it seems like all classes have quite good AOE output now so I guess you can't go wrong? ^^;
  2. I interpretated it that way as well. My Raen lived in a settlement before coming to Eorzea, and they kept to themselves unless people passed through their area, or extreme trade circumstances. It's interesting that warriors would be the ruling class in Raen hierarchy - maybe they aren't so different to Xaela after all. Here's a cool thread about what some of the random generator surnames mean, reflecting different professions. Thankfully SE were quite kind and didn't make the Au Ra lore very restricted, so if you wanted to make a Raen in a tribe it wouldn't be unheard of. Both clans have something to build off of, although Raen is more of a blank slate. I plan on an Xaela alt that will be in one of the tribes mentioned but a smaller unit of it broken off from the main tribe, so if our headcanons aren't the same it won't be awkward for others hopefully, nor will it require me to rely on other's characters in the tribe as I don't know many people at the moment.

    Hello.

Welcome to the the game, and HRC! W'rex sounds like an interesting character, look forward to hearing more about him! We're all friendly here, so please don't hesitate if you have any lore or gameplay questions.

    Hi!

Welcome to HRC, and to Balmung!
  5. One thing I see often online is when two people are arguing, one will start to correct the other's grammar as a way to undermine the person further. That's one reason why I think people can take offense from it, as sometimes a way of being snarky. Probably completely wrong, but I'm trying to post more so stuff it I'm gonna do it. Personally I find it helpful as my grammar is atrocious and I seem to have made up my own set of rules?! I don't usually comment on other's mistakes because of this, and to be honest as long as I understand what the person is saying then I don't really mind any way. Maybe in a public conversation the safest and politest thing would be to do it through /tell instead.
  6. I'd be happy to help with both of your petitions! Will keep an eye out for you, or if you see Aris Frey online send a /tell and I'll hop onto an alt and sign. Will leave when the FC is created. Usually online GMT and EST early evening. Hopefully catch you both! If not, best of luck sorting it out. I found shouting in a city state a few times often lures out sympathetic, helpful, people.
  7. On the left is the original AF armour from the class quest (I believe it gives out the i90 stuff now which is a recoloured version) and on the right the new Scholar Eso coat And here is the new Eso gear I quickly edited together and the skirt which is hidden under everything else Hope I didn't forget anything :surprise:
  8. Hello! I have very little experience with this so please let me know if I'm doing anything wrong. Brief Introduction Past: Aris is (yet another) Au Ra recently arrived in Ul'dah. She is a traditional Raen in her mid-to-late twenties, spending her previous life in one of the larger societies in Othard. After a grievance between an Xaela tribe and her settlement, Aris became a diplomat between the two clans with hope that they could work alongside each other in the future if they were to cross into each other's territories. She's trained with a lance and, while she still has a lot to learn, is a capable fighter, with hope of learning how to use her fists more in battle. Current: Having left the settlement due to the Garlean forces, Aris has travelled to Ul'dah following a lead trying to find a previous acquaintance, and in the long run make a new life for herself. Making Connections: I don't know anyone ICly yet, so am open to any sort of connection, even negative relationships if your character isn't friendly towards Au Ra. Anything and everything. As well as make new connections, I'd love to find some past relationships for her too. Ways our characters may have met previously include: Met in Othard Xaela from a tribe she may have met Trained together Traveller from the journey to Ul'dah Someone who could teach her cleaner & more skilled fist fighting The only thing I'm not inclined towards is a family member or love interest (would prefer that to happen naturally). Lastly: I still consider myself new to roleplaying, and while you may have seen me lurking the site I have next to no experience with the real thing. Please keep that in mind if you prefer to have a more experienced roleplay partner. Light, medium or heavy roleplay is all fine with me, although some lighter conversations to start with would be helpful. *Aris is also a semi-permanent name, and I plan on changing it to fit the naming conventions soon. Replies, PM or in-game /tell to Aris Frey are the best way to contact me Thanks very much for reading! I hope her character is okay, I've never discussed it with anyone before.
  9. Hello! There's no official RP server, but Balmung and Gilgamesh currently are the most populated with roleplayers. I believe Famfrit, Jenova and Moogle all have growing roleplay communities. Hopefully someone from one of those worlds will be able to offer further help there. Being from the UK trying to get onto Balmung or Gilgamesh is actually a benefit, as the servers usually open around 9am-1pm for us, so we don't have to get up early. Sadly because of Heavensward, returning members, general activity increase, and it being the summer, the servers have been closed much more than usual. I can't speak for Gilgy, but I last heard Balmung was open yesterday for about 4 minutes. There's a bit more detail about it here. So, the first option is to keep trying to get in! Another time the server is often open is 10 minutes before and after maintenence, but lately even that has been difficult. The second option is transfering! It costs £11 to transfer from the MogStation. It is an instant transfer, and will say the world is still restricted, but so far there have been no problems moving a character over. The only requirements are that the character is 3 days old. I hope this helps! Welcome to HRC! It's always nice to see another EU player.

    Howdy!

Welcome to HRC! Everyone here is incredibly welcoming to new roleplayers or old ones coming back, so I'm sure you'll fit right in If you have any lore or gameplay questions please don't hesitate to ask. Look forward to seeing you around!
  11. I'm so happy there's another event, I love seeing them in game. Feels like it's been ages since the last one, or is there usually long this a gap? The windchime looks nice, too.
  12. Good luck! There's a thread here which members sometimes post on when Balmung is open, and also some tips here on getting into it. Because of Heavensward more players have been logging in and out, and members returning, which is why it's been closed so much lately. But it was open earlier today so that's a good sign.
  13. As Kellach mentioned, there's no offical server. While Balmung is the most populated for RP'ers, Gilgamesh is the second biggest, and Jenova has a growing RP community from what I've heard. There are a few RP'ers on Moogle and Famfrit too, and scattered elsewhere, but sadly couldn't point you in their direction.
  14. It's still a little while away yet, but I'm super excited for Uncharted 4. It's one of my favourite series.

    SCIENCE.

Hello Welcome to HRC! Kiur Kenneth sounds very interesting - look forward to hearing more about her!
  16. Hello! Sadly because of our active population, housing is a problem on Balmung as there aren't enough plots to meet player demand. When they added in the extra wards all the small plots were sold out within a few hours of the patch going live, if that helps give you an idea of how bad it is! I'm not sure on the current rate of small plots. About three months ago my friend sold his for around 20 million, and they can go higher than that. Hopefully someone will come in and give a more recent figure. BUT! On a happier note, I believe they plan on adding more housing wards sometime over the next few months. I thought it was going to be patch 3.1, but haven't heard anything on that recently so it may be later. It might be worth saving your gil until the new ones are released. There will be a race to get them, so being ready when the patch goes live and rushing to pick one is the way to go.
  17. These are all really amazing! Wonderful work
  18. These are awesome! Please share more when you do them, would love to see.

    I'm In!

Welcome! Always good to see another Ala Mhigan
  20. Welcome! The Linkshell tab above has many FC/LS, hopefully one might grab your interest. I also recommend browsing the Making Connections forum and perhaps posting if you're looking for anything specific Look forward to seeing you around and hearing more about Kane!

    Patch 3.05 Notes

Another tip for Eso tomes is to do the trial and PvP roulettes. Most trials take under ten minutes and PvP is usually about 12 minutes per match. I've found they help ease up the repetitivity of doing ex roulette and I don't have to do it every day either. The new Seal Rock PvP is pretty fun, queues are shorter especially around NA prime time. Really recommend giving it a go for easy tomes if you haven't tried it, you might find you enjoy it!
  22. Hello! What data center are you in? You can select a different one from the home screen. Here is a list of all of them. Usually when a world is closed, it is faded out and you can't click on it. Balmung and Gilgamesh are both restricted worlds because of their high volume of players logging in and out. I can't speak for Gilga, but Balmung often opens in the early hours of the morning EST (around 4am-7am EST I think). Because of Heavensward's release, it's been closed for longer periods of time, but there has been reports of it opening more lately. Another good time to create a character is immediately before or after world maintenance. Alternatively, you can pay a fee to transfer a character. Other than those two, I believe Jenova (NA) has a growing roleplay community. There are some members here from Siren (NA) as well, and some groups listed in the Linkshell Hall. I'm not sure of any others, but I imagine people will come forward with more suggestions
