  1. Sarnai had taken to reading the newspaper in her off time when she was not working. It helped keep her informed on things, however, after reading the article of someone being mercilessly attacked and assaulted for no reason at all, she could feel her own rancor and blood lust rising in herself. Her darkside was calling. It Demanded vengeance or blood. She was sitting in an inn room at the Forgotten Knight when her dark side re-appeared next to her, the look of extreme anger plastered on her face. "Sister! These fool's assaulted someone for no reason and have not been punished for it. The code demand's they pay in blood!" she said, growling under her voice as she commanded the good Sarnai to do something. Good Sarnai just smiled to her darker self as she folded the paper and quietly placed it on the table. "Patience sister. If we run in there now attempting to take vengeance on an entire clan then we would only end up dead in a ditch somewhere." She said with a warm smile. "GOD'S DAMMIT SARNAI! These people blatantly hurt someone for no reason and your not going to do anything about it?!" Her darkside shouted, with much anger in her tone. Good Sarnai sighed deeply, shaking her head as she crossed her arms. "I never said we should not do anything. If we are to exact vengeance, then it will be on one person. Too kill more than one would call attention on us. Killing itself will call attention on us." Her darkside look like it was about to say something but resigned herself to grumbling and growling. "Fine. But we better kill one soon. I feel like feeding on the blood of someone wretched." She said, growling at good Sarnai. "We will soon do so sister." Good Sarnai said with a warm smile and a kind tone of voice.
  2. Thats actually a tough question. Ive never ran into instance's of RP with the economy involved, but the people who play rich characters tend to set their net worth anywhere between a couple of hundred thousand gil to several hundred million. So I dont think there is no definite norm in the economy. Just the rich people then the really poor people.
  3. Sign Sarnai up for no.2 please. Seems like dealing with criminals is her cup of tea for some reason.
  4. Ooooh. I would like a spot. Edit: If a spot isnt filled by Friday then I would like it.
  5. ((Location: Quicksand - a rented inn room.)) ((Time: Late day. Sun is setting.)) 'Sky pirate's huh?' Sarnai thought to herself as she sat on the inn bed, in nothing but underwear and cloth wrapped around her chest. She had her hair let down. It was long, flowing and silky smooth with a pure black color. She also did not have any of her makeup on. She sat with her legs crossed on the bed and with parchment in her lap. She was attempting to draft a letter to the monetarist she served, Otto Vann. While most did not know, Sarnai served as a retainer to Otto Vann, aiding him in his business as well as day to day activities. If there was a problem, she tried to solve it for him before he had to solve it himself. Suffice to say, the word of missing shipments in the north as well as the mineral concern putting out a leve to see the problem solved spelled concern in her mind, so she aided a group in attempting to resolve the issue before it got worse or affected master Otto's personal endeavors. The situation was resolved out there, with just a handful of people dying. Unimportant people really she thought to herself. Brigands wont be missed. The shipment was still missing, but the death's of their fellow pirate's would keep brigands away from the north for a while. Sarnai yawned and taking her pen, drafted the letter to her employer. 'Master Otto As of recent event's, I have discovered pirates in the north of the Thanalan have been pillaging shipments. Perhaps it is best if you-' Sarnai paused for a moment in the middle of writing. Sighing, she thought this wouldnt be good enough to send to him then setting the feathered pen she was using to write the letter, crumpled up the piece of parchment and threw it across the room. "Why are things so complicated?" Sarnai said aimlessly to the air around her, leaning back against the wall behind her. As she closed her eyes while she said that, a dark cloud began to form, with a figure leaning on the wall across the room from her. It was her darkside, dressed in her ceremonial battle armor and with her hair tied up and her makeup on, or at least that was how her dark side presented herself to Sarnai. She could wear anything or nothing and could take on any form she wanted too, but her Darkside chose this form because it was what she was a representation of more or less. A beautiful warrior garbed in ebony scaled mail as dark as the deepest black. Her darkside leaned against the wall, looking out at the city through the window of the inn. A faint black aura around her and her eyes glowing crimson red. "Why do you concern yourself with these foreign problem's sister? Yes, innocent people were abducted and murdered, but whatever justice was demanded was payed back with the blood of a dozen or more brigand's." Sarnai opened her eyes and looked at her darker self and said, offering her a warm smile. "It's my job to care other Sarnai. Otherwise, I would be out of the job." "Aye, your job is to care for that bloody fucker of a money bag Otto and whatever he does, but I think you concern yourself too much if your writing a letter to him asking for an investigation into the matter of whatever the bloody fuck it is your doing." She retorted to Sarnai, with a disapproving but exaggerating look on her face. Dark Sarnai, unlike normal Sarnai, was cruel and uncaring. She loved to fight. Reveled in the joy of endless combat really. To her, an opponent was just another victim who's blood is meant to paint her thorn's. Normal Sarnai was good by her very nature. kind, caring, affectionate, passionate, loving. She did not like violence, but thought that if it was a good means to a good end then it was okay. Normal Sarnai rolled her eyes at Dark Sarnai, then sighed deeply, saying "Well what would you do then love? Surely you have thought about this a bit." "Aye, I have thought about it." Dark Sarnai said, with a dissatisfied look on her face and her brow furrowed. While Dark Sarnai was cruel and destructive, she was not dumb. She was just as smart as normal Sarnai was, if not more so. "We do not need to do anything. This is some other persons problem." She said coldly. ". . . however, they are strong. That brute we fought on that narrow path, we haven't fought someone so strong since we left Orthard. Which means if there is someone that strong, there must be other's just as strong if not stronger. A challenge, and one I would gladly raise my blade to fight in." Dark Sarnai said, turning to normal Sarnai and showing her a cocky grin. "Indeed. He was most strong." Normal Sarnai responded. She thought about it for a moment though. If they went out and tried to eradicate the pirates, it meant less work later along with dark Sarnai getting to have some fun. It was a win-win for her and normal Sarnai. Personal and economic wise. No doubt master Vann would praise her for such hard work and dedication as well. "If you have no objections sister then we should go pirate hunting in Coerthas." Said normal sarnai, with a warm smile beaming off her face. "Hehehe. . . I like to hear you say that sister." Dark Sarnai said, with a grin forming on her face, then her dispersing back into the air, the dark aura and her person dispersing entirely. Sarnai sighed deeply with the disappearance of her Darkside and stretched herself out on the bed. "Now the question is where do we hunt first?" she said passively, laying on the bed.
  6. I would look forward to a Dark Souls if they announced of releasing a difficulty setting on it. I would also look forward to Star Citizen now that I think about a few games but we all know that game is never gonna get out of alpha, lol.
  7. I don't think this is a 'rift' kind of issue. As I said previously it's not something I'd recommend but I'm definitely no authority to say what can be or can't be RPed. Do your own thing, discussion is healthy for people to form their own opinions. I most certainly wouldn't ignore you for having your own background/past/lore. Sure there may be conflict, but RP is bred on IC conflict and OOC cooperation. We're the Dark Knights, take some of the order's rules to heart. Go ahead and let the conflict brew IC, but OOC we're an RP family and should enjoy the conflict that outside the box ideals can bring. This is a great post. But yes, ive RPed with someone who was a Coerthas DRK already and our differences have created a IC rivalry which I think is wonderful OOC.
  8. Like I said, its only a head cannon to support all the DRK's from Orthard and to be honest, people are still going to RP what they want to so its better to just accept that the head cannons existence is okay rather than causing a rift in the community. Live and let live I say.
  9. DRK isnt a trade thats something taught openly though. Its a Dark art of sorts, which most common people who arent indoctrinated into the art, will easily mistake it for void magic or some such. IE: Its a trade taught in secret, and as I recall. DRK's are not bound tto one place. They are allowed to wander and find diffrent place to fight justice in. Honestly, DRK's can be from anywhere, provided they have a backstory excuse for it.
  10. Interesting. Also, I have had this discussion with people in the Ishgard LS about DRK lore. The first Dark Knight technically had several pupils (otherwise how would there be modern DRK's that we could learn the art from?) and the lore doesn't really say what happens to the pupils, so my head cannon is that one of them left Ishgard and came to Orthard and taught a few Au Ra the trade of the DRK before he passed on, which has been passed down by an unknown few since. This falls nicely in line with how many Au Ra DRK's there actually are in another LS called Scales of Orthard. ie: Its a head cannon formed from the number of IC DRK Au Ra's at any rate.
  11. As Julli said earlier, Sarnai is a Dark Knight but from Orthard (which I conveniently refer to the Dark Knights from Orthard as the Ortharian sect) Her training and existing knowledge of the darkside stays true to the lore as well as her general application of it. The only difference between her and a Dark Knight from Coerthas is while they struggle to suppress and push away their Darkside, she embraces her darkside and trys to completely dominate over it, turning it into her subject rather than a constant threat to her mortal being. Shes still prone to fit's from her darkside however, but it hasnt tried to dominate over her. The only thing that's different about her is that since shes not from the Coerthas sect of the knights and from the Ortharian sect, their personal and sect code differs quite a bit, which even I wrote it out a bit to define her code a bit since she's from Orthard. Let me pull it out real quick. (NOTE: This is not a cannon code but something that I personally drafted up which Sarnai largely operates under when going about her daily life as a DRK or dealing with certain situations.) A knight is the true idealization of freedom and the embodiment of defiance. we defy all rules and all codes except the code of the Knight and the individual knights personal code. This is because that we defy and break all rules to right the wrongs that other knights from outside the order are afraid to commit because they are afraid to lose their positions, power and material items in society. We are justice incarnate. The blade of righteous that cannot be stopped with things such as petty death threats to others or threats to us. Our justice, regardless if it is just or unjust, is absolute and so are our blades, which will destroy all that is in our path to see the justice done. A knight of the order is by no means meant to share the spotlight and fanfare with warriors of the light. We are warriors of the dark and we wage our fights in the shadow or away from prying eyes, where most cannot see us. Secrecy and anonymity are our best friends. We must hid our existence for those outside of the order are ignorant and cannot understand the true nature of how our power works. Thus, we leave the fanfare to those with shields of light and go about our lives living in the dark. If you are discovered by outsiders and are being hunted then members of the order cannot help you lest the order is discovered at large. We all carry the weight of our sins, the defiance of laws, the death of those who got in our way and our actions are things we must all be individually responsible for and own up to when our time comes. Your sword brothers and sisters are now your true family. Though you may or may not share the same blood as them, you are code mbound to help them if they should ask of your blade to right a wrong that is too big to right by themselves. While you also might not have personal codes that fall in line with each other, you must still honor, respect and help your sword brothers and sisters should they ask. Never, ever betray your sword brothers and sisters for any reason. To do so is to damn yourself to the deepest and most treacherous place of the seven hell's. If a brother or sister is overtaken and dominated by their Darkside then they are a beast, no longer a noble knight. Thus they must be killed before they can commit wrongs to the innocents. Never be afraid to call upon aid from your sword brothers and sisters and even outsiders at times, but be wary of the outsiders, for they are not to be trusted as they are not indoctrinated into the order like us. As for her personal code, she is planted firmly between Chaotic Good to Chaotic Neutral. While she likes to help others, she also trys to live a normal life outside of the order, making an honest living.
  12. Lets see. . . Fallout 4 The New Fire Emblem Fate games Star Wars Battlefront 3 The New kingdom hearts FF-XV (15) The eventual release of Mass Effect 4 (Which im hoping will be better than 3 because of a new protagonist and storyline.) Thats about what I am looking forward too, though ive probably missed a few.
  13. Yeah. Ul'dah and Lavander bed housing is pretty okay-ish from 3rd partys. Mist properties will bleed you dry though. A friend asked me to help sell his small mist house on the beachfront at one point and it was going around for 34 mill or something.
  14. Im interested and would like to reserve a spot. Need to make a sheet first.
  15. I dont plan on upgrading. Windows 8 was a POS in my opinion and I actually played around with the beta version of windows 10. It was not that diffrent from windows 8, just re-skinned and with new features. The design and layout did not change though.
  16. Nobunaga, Hideki and Takeda have been around since the 14-16th century of Japan, during the warring states and edo period and even way longer before that. I presented my post weirdly. Yes, the current naming conventions dont use 'modern' Japanese names, but most of the information in my post was correct, first name is Japanese. Last name is completely optional or whatever you want to put there. For example, if you played the quest to rescue Rahubahn in the 3.0 MSQ, you would see Yugiri's full name as 'Yugiri Mistwalker.' Her full name is not completely Japanese, which means creative freedom to whatever you want your last name to be.
  17. Hello there. Raen naming conventions only require the first name to be Japanese. The last name is completely up to the choice of the player to make. If you want to have a character with a powerful name, Takeda, Nobunaga and Hideki are pretty cool, though I dont know if they are being used or not.
  18. A grand champion is the best of the fighter's from the four categories. You could just make each fighter who won in a specific category a champion then after those four weeks of events, hold a finals event to determine the grand champion of the four champions. The finals should run relatively smooth if there are only four combatants and two rounds if its 1v1.
  19. Sarnai's name is on the list as well, though it has a small heart drawn next to it. ((Note: I wont be online for the next two or three days because ill be off boating with the family. I am available to be contacted via the RPC though should you need to attempt the interview there.))
  20. Evening. Before the grindstone was funded by the people who ran the event, the people in charge used to charge a 500-1000 gil fee for entry to fund the prize pot for the winner. Also, the event tonight was great. I was really happy I managed to win. 5 hours into the event and the finals match was an hour long but the win felt very satisfying.
  21. Server: Balmung Location: West Thanalan, Ul'dah and the Goblet. Who may mention this: Sellswords recently active in Western Thanalan (common) Brass Blades (rarely) and Thamaturge's from the Thaumaturge guild if asked. Rumor: A group of mercenary's were seen harassing a mother and her child outside of the small settlement of Horizon and were attacked by a figure garbed in ebony wielding a sword bigger than itself. The men fought but were soundly beaten down and they fled from it, with the mother and child to have escaped in all the commotion. Rumor has it that none of the mercenary's were hurt severely or killed, but the account of what they fought varied. Some say it was a man, others a voidsent, though several Thamaturge's investigated the incident, their finding's were suposedly inconclusive.
  22. Alphanaud said after that cutscene though that he was able to understand the Dragon because of it's sheer force of will, which debunks the idea that the Dragon spoke to them in their native language. There is a distinct difference though between talking to a normal dragon and talking to that one dragon guy. Its a difference of age and power. Its safe to assume that the older and wiser dragons have a considerable amount of will that they can project their wills on others, whereas other Dragon's cannot. Therefore, my point still stands. The echo still allows you to talk or communicate with a considerable amount of people who speak different tongues outside of yours, which this does include species with the ability to project their wills into other races.
  23. Alphanaud said after that cutscene though that he was able to understand the Dragon because of it's sheer force of will, which debunks the idea that the Dragon spoke to them in their native language.
  24. Hi. About Conjury: Conjury is the art of borrowing power from nature to aid people who need the help. Gridania has the conjurer's guild where you go to learn more about conjury. There is nothing in the lore that says you need formal training from the Conjurers guild to be able to use conjury, but you will no doubt be lacking in the terms of the skills most Gridanian conjurers have. With that said, its not impossible to play a non-gridanian conjurer. Also, due to the lack of lore on Orthard, aside from the 50 Xaela tribes and the Doman's/Raen across the mountains of Orthard, nothing is practically known about Orthard so I wouldn't jump the gun when it comes to elemental's being in Orthard. EDIT: Orthard also has horses and are a garlean held territory.
  25. Going into spoiler territory here. Then explain how the WoL is able to understand Dragon speak during the 3.0 MSQ if the echo doesn't allow it. Its mentioned at one point during the 2.0 MSQ that the echo does allow people who have it to understand everyone regardless of race or language. Though im not sure when, it is mentioned. As for the doman thing, its probably a writing oversight. Either way, my counter point to the argument that they dont say that is that they never spoke to anyone except other fellow doman's or people with the Echo. Just because someone seem's to speak flawless english to you while you have the echo doesnt mean that they are actually speaking flawless english. The echo is kind of like an auto-translator and filter's what they are saying into a language that you already know or understand.
