  1. Evil lalafells grind up slightly less evil lalafells and then trick you into drinking it
  2. 1. Your character gets judged! What stereotype do other students see them as? (Nerd, jock, etc.) Oh gosh, I can't even imagine. It wouldn't be kind, I'm sure. 2. Your character gets an A+! What class(es)? Well, she'd definitely get an A+ in Ishgardian Theology, and I'm sure she'd be super helpful as a teacher's assistant. Also art class. 3. Your character fails a class. Boo! Which one(s)? Depends. She'd pass any class that gave a lot of participation points. Otherwise, she'd do terribly at everything but P.E. 4. What sorts of people gather to your character? Are they popular or a loner? Probably a bit too weird to make any permanent friends. 5. Your character goes to future career counseling! What is their ideal job!? "Oh honey, you better find a rich husband while you're still cute."
  3. Well, I like to think I'm around to balance out all the superhero-types. Every character I've ever RP'd has been useless to the point of actually being a burden to others. For example, my D&D and GW2 character, Barrett Stormsong, while being a decent swordsman (when sober (never)), had a horribly addictive personality. He had problems with liquor, opium, and gambling. He'd been arrested multiple times for public nudity. On top of that, his dream was to be a minstrel/interpretive dancer, but he'd only dance in front of others while drunk, and his fiddle-playing sounded like an angry hawk. I freakin' loved Barrett, kinda wish I'd carried him over to XIV... Now, Ryoko's father is a legendary swordsman, but she's incompetent at life in general. She's currently looking for his lost sword, searching Eorzea much the same way one might search a house for lost keys. Just wandering around, looking under furniture, digging through people's closets, etc. Underpowered characters are fun. Y'all should try it some time.
  4. Your rooms are so pretty! I wish I could show off my little closet, but I'm between houses right now D:
  5. That's pretty hardcore. I always roll like a 2, so I'd be a dozen characters in by now...
  6. Well, firstly we need to establish the difference between a right and a privilege. Many see the difference as semantic, but privileges are things your government gives you because it feels you should have them. The idea behind a right is that they are given by god (or in this case, the Twelve), and that the government cannot grant them, it can merely protect them. By that same reasoning, it cannot lawfully take them away. What we know of Ul'dah suggests that it firstly, it does not have citizens. It has subjects. Citizens are all equals. Ul'dahns are subjects to their lords and their monarch. The nobles of Ul'dah appear to have rights, but the commoners likely do not. Rather, they have whatever privileges the Sultanate and the council allow them. These can, most likely, be taken away at any point. If, however, Nanamo successfully reforms Ul'dah into a Republic, then this would all change. Now I personally choose to serve an oppressive theocracy, so obviously my real-world morality does not carry over into Eorzea. However, from my OOC perspective, I do believe that the people of Ul'dah have a Twelve-given right to self-governance, and that it is Nanamo's responsibility as their leader to abolish both the monarchy and all forms of nobility.
  7. Well shoot, a couple of my IC best friends were only like level 17 when I met them. I dunno, maybe some people will turn you down over it but I don't see any reason to. I mean, in most scenarios, your level will make little difference for RP purposes (unless you're really into dungeon rp), so I guess it's just people being silly.
  8. Yay, I moved up on the list! Guess it's about time I got my full request submitted. Seeing how well everyone else's turned out has got me hyped!
  9. I've been using Sleipnir IC since the day it came out. I present it as a normal warhorse, and nobody has ever had a problem with that.
  10. As a healer, I see some horrifying things that most people wouldn't even notice. However, despite the potatoes and assholes I've come across in this game, it's been pretty tame compared the the endless nightmare that was PuGing in WoW. There were some people in WoW so terrible that I still remember them years later. But, this is about XIV, and I do have one person from XIV who's bad enough to talk about. I met him 2 days ago. We were doing the lvl40 guildhest where you have to kill the 5 voidsent at the same time or they respawn. Now, I rarely see groups do this correctly the first time, because nobody reads the fucking directions... However, most groups will get it on the second try. Yesterday, we had one attempt go for almost half an hour. I was the tank, and there was this black mage who kept focusing a single target. After he killed one, I stood there and explained to him how the fight worked. He ignored me. After he killed a few more, I did some chat-noises and explained it again. "I heard you the first time" K... After we'd been fighting for over 10 minutes, I finally went off. "Holy shit," I say, "Apparently we're just going to be in here forever, because this guy can't be asked to switch targets." "Chill dude" he says, "it's my first time in here" "Wow!" I proclaim, as I fall ever further to the temptation of the dark side. "I'm just thinking that, I've told you three times now, the NPC has been shouting instructions at you the whole time, and even a retard could have figured this out through trial and error by now. You say "I heard you the first time", but then you don't actually do anything about it." After a few more minutes, I couldn't handle it anymore. I tried to leave, but you can't leave in combat so I just stopped tanking. God bless this healer, he was a trooper, but he just would not let anyone die. So I got up, made a sandwich, sat back down, and started tanking again. Around the 26-minute mark, this black mage miraculously starts target-swapping. Just before the half-hour, we get it. I just logged off for the day at that point. Couldn't handle the sadness.
  11. Ha! I actually came into this thread just to mention this. It's the best, everyone should join!
  12. That was one of the things Tera did right, was the weapon skins they added from time to time. What I'd really like is some alternate weapon skins, that make your weapon look like a different type of weapon (also something Tera did) like maybe a big hammer for warriors, or a mace for paladins.
  13. This could all be solved if you could just sell plots to other players. You know, like how housing works in real life.
  14. Oh god, if this were back in July when I created the first iteration of Ryoko, the answer would be "Everything". Now, though? Reading Eorzean is a struggle for Ryoko to this day, due to her education being conducted almost entirely through Ishgardian religious texts, most of which are ancient. She can't draw worth a damn. She's got this box of crayons (fun fact, crayons have been around since the late medieval period) that she passes time with, but since I may actually want to create and upload some of her drawings some day, she's just going to be as good at it as I am. And I can't draw a circle. I feel like as many as I had before, I should probably tack on another one or two major failings. I'll have to think about it overnight.
  15. Been trying for a few days, but I can't seem to catch either of you online
  16. I'm really bummed that you can't get the full-length veil outside the cathedral. Really wanted that. Also that it appears to have no gloves. Was hoping the gloves would be sleeve-length and be separate from the dress. No such luck. Also, once again another situation where the top and the skirt should have been separate pieces but aren't (another example being Scylla's robe in ST). What's really sad is that despite having almost nothing good to say about it, I'm still going to fork over $40. This game does awful things to me
  17. Wow, this uh... this patch kinda sucked. No new hairstyles or anything fun. Oh well, got another fan fest coming up to keep me hyped.
  18. 1) After I'm done, as long as you don't claim that I never existed and You were the one who drew it or I'm a magical art elf that flutters in and out, granting random pictures to boys and girls all around the US but shhhh dont tell anyone I exist, the pictures are yours to do whatever you feel like. 2) ... Uhm, that shouldn't be a problem, because... well...
  19. Oh ho! Finally found the style I'm looking for! Bookmarked the thread, I'll be keeping an eye out for open slots! I have a question, though. If I commissioned a picture of Ryoko in the future, I'm wondering how you'd feel about two things: 1) How acceptable would it be for me to make my own modifications to it for signatures and avatars? 2) Would you ever consider including a PS file with the final product? Wouldn't have to be the original PS file, just one where the hair color is on a separate layer for easy hue adjustment? I change hair colors almost weekly and would like to be able to update my signature accordingly Oh, actually, question 3! If I gave you a picture of an armor set from a source other than Final Fantasy, would you be able to use that instead of my in-game armor? I could pay extra for it! I'm sorry I'm difficult
  20. Next time I'm on I'll check in on you!
  21. Ah, Evandrus is aligned with House Fortemps as well! I might join an Ishgard LS too! Depending on how the patch turns out, I might just have him step down to a knight or something for Fortemps. Mishka and I just created a "Knights of Ishgard" (name not final) LS about 3 days ago. So far it's just the two of us, but we're looking to grow it with more Ishgardian players. If you've got a free LS slot, you might consider joining (and bringing any friends or allies you may have!)
  22. Right now I'm going off of real time, which is painfully slow because Ryoko won't even be 15 until next October. If we are informed of a sudden leap ahead in game time, I will adhere to that, but until then I'm going by real-world time. Fortunately for me, Ishgard begins training priests and knights at around 11-13 years old, so Ryoko's age doesn't really limit her service to the church. (I have no confirmation for the apprentice info, but my personal policy on Ishgard is to assume it's identical to the Holy Roman Empire unless stated otherwise.)
  23. Strongest team world? No, but if Ryoko were a pokemon trainer, this is literally the team she would run. She'd think they were super cute and would probably try to catch every one she saw, practicality be damned.
  24. I'd certainly get a lot of use out of a live chat. I have a ton of little things come up that I want to say or ask here, but never do because I don't feel like they warrant a thread.
