  1. Here's some stuff, might have been linked elsewhere: The Mongolist Words pronounced on forvo - words are spelled with a Cyrillic alphabet, but it's interesting to hear the sound of the language. More Mongolians speaking Mongolian You can kind of get a sense for a pronunciation based off that. My guess? HO(t)ko, with the t being kind of an afterthought sound. But that's a very uneducated guess.

    Greetings!

Hey there! As a primary forum rper myself who has found rp in game to be just fine, don't worry! You shall adapt; it's all just pacing, really. I hope you have fun and GO XAELA!
  3. The bartender shrugged, his own disinterest in the situation made clear by the dimming of his smile. He had his coin, and he had given his information for it. "Yer own choice, mate. Mebbe, mebbe not."
  4. As a tidbit on its lonesome, yes, it does seem pretty lame -- but to me it's indicative of, say, the Chauchu of Russia (who also use sleds to transport their stuff during yearly moves), who are a very badass and tough lot. :3
  5. It sounds more to me like the Moks are less of a traditional tribe and more of a secret society type -- which given how some of the others operate I think SE is trying to keep the actual cultures/structures of the Xaela as open to interpretation as possible. In which case, they don't need traditional gatherings and would work more like.... a clandestine cell system, with each tribe they are infiltrating containing a cell and overarching leadership being secreted away somewhere where they have control over whatever group they're in. Ya know?
  6. I don't think they can actually communicate with cloud and wave kin -- I think they just use clicks similar to them : "the Geneq employ a complex system of whistles and clicks which resemble the cloud- and wavekin of the steppe." Honestly a lot of the tribe tidbits make me think of myths and tidbits from nomadic cultures around the globe. This one makes me think of the !Kung (who are a San people) - prolly part of why I love it so much. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c246fZ-7z1w
  7. A miqo'te near Styrm edged slightly away, ears flicking back and forth. Not quite insensitive to the moods and natures of his patrons, the barman smiled as congenially as he could. Given the nature of his face, any smile he mustered up couldn't much scrape past ugly, but he had his ways of making clear that he didn't want trouble. The gil was accepted and tucked away, and a new mug of some cheap swill procured and placed in front of Styrm. The fact that the lad was sitting so close meant that the barman had to lean close to Styrm, close enough that the foulness of his breath would wash across the roe's face -- unless he chose to lean away. "Th'lad. Goes by Brindle, he does. Care not t'spook him; e's a quick one, 'e is." Carefully, he indicated Styrm's left, where only one lad sat amidst the mess of patrons. Brindle showed no sign of hearing, though tension remained in him as he sat.
  8. Thanks, i bookmarked the site and if we get any on Gilgamesh we will check it out. LOL I don't think Ive ever been on a game that feels like siege warfare just to get a character made on a specific server before. Yeah. You have to wait until the wee hours of the morning to get into either server. :C I dread trying to make my Au ra in a day or two. I'm fantasia-ing/namechanging another of my characters for juuust this reason.
  9. Delightful additions to the team. Thanks for stepping up!
  10. Geneq , Ugund , Tumet , and Noykin are the most interesting to me, and the ones Imma be snooping around to see if any other rpers are planning on those tribes. XAELA HYPE.
  11. MONGOLIAN MONGOLIAN MONGOLIAN MONGOLIAN EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE I am so happy.
  12. They get back to you, but I've never had it actually solve any of my issues. Whoever you speak to on the other end isn't always an English-as-a-first-language person, and a lot of the time they're just like, "Here's this number to call us, spend 4 hours on the phone trying to get help." Depends on the severity of the issue, I think, as well as which avenue you use to contact support. I had to retrieve an account of mine once due to shenanigans that had resulted in my forgetting the password while my account was associated with a long-since-discarded email address. I managed to get a hold of a Square-Enix support agent via live chat and they fixed the issue for me once I proved my identity. I... a chat service?? Somehow I missed that option -- I will look for that option if this new ticket doesn't pan out. Thank you everyone! The last rep just ... pretty much ignored my explanation and flagged my ticket as fixed, so I was unsure if I could expect to go round in circles for the next several days or if that was a fluke and I just need to keep trying until I find a good rep who doesn't hate me. <3
  13. Thanks for the quick replies! Were these phone calls or through the email contact service?
  14. Just um, out of curiosity, has anyone used Square Enix's support center email customer service, and if so how did it go? I have an account issue and so far (after one failure) I am nervous about my chances for resolving it. I want someone to tell me it will all work out.
  15. I remember when I was growing up I'd always check the paper to see if there'd been a winner, and was always hugely disappointed whenever the favorites lost. While I grew out of my horse obsession, it made me really happy when I saw that headline in the news.
  16. As much as I sometimes am reluctant to face change, the most exciting and awesome thing about any expansion for any game, to me, is the changes that get rolled out. Changing up how a class is played, new races, new classes, new content -- it freshens a game up, and gives you that new car feel where you want to drive everywhere and make up excuses to do so. But mostly class changes. I don't feel it as much with Heavansward because I've been about as lackadaisical a player as you can get (from the side of progression and shit), but mastering the new things about a class is what I typically get most excited about. Even if I don't necessarily like the changes, aiming for mechanical perfection in setup and execution was usually what drove me to play for hours and hours and hours. But really I'm looking forward to new toys, though I don't feel it as much because I never fully explored ARR.
  17. I...just... you have my complete respect, man. And sads. Lots of sads. But hey, cheers to Melkire for being willing to be the interim! You guys do your best, and I have always, always appreciated the effort and careful maneuvering that is so difficult to do for large communities.
  18. Sorry I've been such a flakey mcflakerson of spazzy disappearing acts. Maybe I should change my sig to "I'm not dead. I'm getting better."
  19. Big cats too?!?!?!
  20. I would definitely try another race. If you have any questions try hitting up the rp forum -- there are quite a few people who are well versed in the lore who are usually happy to help when a person new to the FFXIV universe is trying to get a solid footing. That, or, y'know, start small and learn as you go!
  21. This is pretty much how I operate. Ain't nobody got time for that shit!
  22. Maybe their horns are sensitive when touching them together for some kinda crazy connection. Hell, maybe it's a better experience than kissing! WHO NEEDS KISSING ANYWAYS.
  23. A few of my nerd buddies are colorblind, and I thought -- heck, might as well share this here too on the off chance someone who hasn't seen it might show it to someone who could use 'em (or if you could use them yourself): http://app.siz.io/stories/valspar-color-for-the-colorblind?src=tum at $400, they ain't cheap, but y'know. TECHNOLOGY ROCKS! http://enchroma.com/shop/cx-explorer/?utm_medium=video&utm_source=Valspar%20Youtube&utm_campaign=Color%20For%20All%20&utm_content=Shop%20EnChroma%20Glasses
  24. The space was soon filled, though as the barman worked, he talked. Muttered, really, almost below the general level of noise. "Been askin' questions, scrag she is. Surprised she ain't got slit yet. Lass's dealin' somethin'. Whatever 'tis, 's hot. There's a lad ye'll be wantin' t'corner." And there he paused. Cleared his throat. Sure, he didn't play no power games, but he did like his transactions.
  25. It depends on the flames in question. Personally, I feel we've been leaning a bit too much on deletion as of late, and that emboldens people because they feel they can do whatever they want since a mod will just clean things up later. It also eliminates our ability to publicly flag a post as having resulted in a warning (which we're going to try out and see how it goes). It undermines the concept of people standing by what they say. Finally, it spawns weird conspiracy theories about what clique is benefitting from the "censorship." So, for all those reasons, I really don't like deleting posts. However, as I said, it depends on what's being said and why. For instance, racial slurs will get zapped, period. Posts that directly call someone out may or may not be, depending on exactly what's been said. Flame wars that happen inside another thread with good discussion will probably just be split off into a locked thread, with warnings flagged for reference. If you want to talk about a specific thread, feel free to drop me a PM and we'll discuss it. One thing that I like about the escapist is that for posts that aren't like super horrible but get the poster warned or banned, they don't delete but just hide the post. So, if you really want to read it you can read it, but if you don't it's hidden away behind a button that you need to click in order to see it. And then in red letters it just says 'user was warned/banned for this post'.
