That is not enough hair. I need more hair. More. There must be more. MORE. GIVE ME ALL THE HAIR. But seriously, that ponytail is perfection.

Where in the blue hells do you hang out, anyway?
Zhavi replied to Kyrio Lamansque's topic in Chronicled Connections
This is why, when I find people I want to rp with on the forum (and aren't holed up playing dead) and can think of a way for character interaction, I send them pms pretty much begging them to rp with me, including some times when I am available (and including those in Eastern and whatever the +0 timezone is called, the one in Britain) and some ideas for rp. People here, whether you consider them 'celebrities' or not, are generally really friendly and try to make accomodations. -
Au Ra, Xaela tribal alliance and enemies?
Zhavi replied to industrythirteen's topic in RP Discussion
I have a small obsession with pastoral nomads (scythians were pretty much the coolest thing ever), so I know I'll be making one... but before I do I wanna see a little more of what the devs planned for their nomads, since there are a loooot of ways for nomads to live. That said, the easiest reason I could find for mine to come to eorzea was just resource scarcity. That's a pretty typical reason for the movement of people. -

Omgggomgomgomgomg NEED NOMAD RP STAT. -
Somewhere between 5 and 6. I've found that I enjoy forcing my characters to come up with alternatives to combat as a means of surviving, and I enjoy navigating them around characters who are much more powerful (caveat to that is that you always have to accept that your character might very easily die if they're being stupid around the over 9000 crowd). There's a reason why Zhi sticks to the city. One, she understands it. Two, she has a higher chance of getting killed outside of it than in it. It doesn't mean she hasn't killed people -- anyone can kill another person, given the right opportunity and circumstances (hell, sometimes people with utterly no training accidentally kill someone else, in sometimes bizarre ways) -- but it does mean that up against a trained opponent her only option for survival is to talk her way out of it or flee. I made her good at fleeing for that reason, lulz.

Practicality, creativity, succinctness (or, writing only as much as is actually necessary, be it 5 words or 5000), style, ability to self-edit, enjoyment.

To be exact, here's what was said on the forums: "Au Ra Raen and Au Ra Xaela. Au Ra Raen have been closely related to the Domans for long time, so their names are somewhat Japanese-like. The Xaela on the other hand have led a nomadic lifestyle for some time, and they have a unique naming convention." So that's a little info to start concept-crafting! OMG please say mongolian inspired, please say mongolian inspired ;_; dowant

How does your RL reflect into your character?
Zhavi replied to Branson Thorne's topic in RP Discussion
I recently realized I tend to make my characters have dark hair and eyes, which I have irl. Asides from that, there is really not much Zhi and I share in common (besides common things -- for example, she changes her manner depending on who she's speaking with, same as me (and most people, I'd imagine), just in different ways). Skinny little shit that she is. -
I think the friends thing just happens the longer you're around people. When I see FCs or Linkshells starting up, either it's mostly randoms or people who were randoms once upon a time -- but the key there is to be persistent and aware. Just because you have the same interest as someone doesn't mean you're interested in the same thing (if that makes sense). The goal is to find a group that you either naturally jive with or are willing to put forth the effort with (if you don't want to put forth the effort, chances are you wouldn't get along with them anyways), because whether they're a cohesive group or not, it generally does take some time. Hell, I mean, as an example. In another place far, far away, a girl once joined what was a cohesive community. I seriously did not like her at first. But she was spunky and persistent, friendly and took concrits like a champ. Now she's one of my favorite writer people. I had to get to know her, and she was willing to let me get to know her. THAT SAID I didn't even think naruto until you mentioned anime in the first post. I was like 'nara'to? what's wrong with that?'

This, really hard. Sometimes you're overreacting, sometimes you're not. If you're hurt enough for it to affect your state of being, you talk. Because, really, if I am well and truly hurt, ignoring it has never fully made the hurt go away, you know? Nothing is perfect, but communication will get you there the closest, imo.

"in which I ran around touching the butts of a multitude of characters in search for the luckiest butt in the Quicksand" is rp to me. Stupid rp, yeah. Spammy rp, yeah. Maybe mostly ooc rp, yeah, but still rp. ;v While I do get the point you're dragging across, I don't exactly agree with most of it or even see that it fits. Behaviour like that loosely hangs on the balance of lolling and honestly, I don't want to feel forced to blacklist someone just because he went on a random... goofball spree. Especially if the person is a roleplayer. It just gives out a bad impression and you know the first ones are the most difficult to erase. We're playing with other people, so we should be aware of that all the time. As I said and as many have said before, QS is quite the busy place so blurping out emotes that aren't RP, ergo do not contribute to the RP scene in any way is counter-productive and even... just bad. As I said before, it's best if you do these sort of things somewhere else and prefferably in the closed groups of friends (God knows I've goofed around with my friends a lot of times in wow, but we never went on to disturb someone's RP). I also agree with Edda's point that the thread doesn't do much help. It seems to me as if you were trying to see how the community would respond so you knew if you could try something like this again. I dunno. Maybe I'm being too vindicative at this point. I guess to me I have a kneejerk reaction because I've been in places before where I was sidelined because my style of rp didn't fit into the meta. I just... man, he'll self correct if the people he wants to play with no longer wish to play with him, but I dunno. Like I said, I enjoy a little bit of stupid every now and again. I know maybe this seems like a silly place to be all high horse blah blah blah, but... prior bad experiences on my end. It's one thing if it's a niche community where there's rules everyone has to follow, but on places like mmos, it's a self regulation thing. If people want to conform to the community and rp with a majority of people, they'll find the hard edges of peoples' tolerance by who is and isn't willing to rp with them. Mebbe this is too out of context, I dunno. But to me it's just like... if I was there and I didn't like it, and I knew he was a mostly serious rper, I'd either just ignore or blacklist, and let him do his thang. He's welcome to his silly. -

Well, he wasn't really interacting with anyone, though he was getting his share of OOC yucking being expressed! I just ignored him, as I usually do to the myriad of trolls in the Quick Sand. Normally I'd have black listed him too, but I was feeling lenient since the crowd was definitely encouraging him :-X I'd still say its unwelcome behavior in the Quick Sand. I like a little silly fun, but not when its so spammy in a place where spamminess can be really frustrating. Just imagine how people new to FF RP would view the situation - that's kind of how I try to look at things. To me rp is playing someone/something other than yourself in a public place, hopefully in an interactive manner, but not always. -

Maybe mostly ooc rp, yeah, but still rp. It's like dragon-catgirl-demon-whatever rp -- not my thing. I'd probably block and ignore. But y'know, if that's their thing, whatever -- they can do whateeeever they want. As long as they don't get butthurt when people don't want to play with them, it's cool. (much in the same way that I accept that not everyone likes my rp or wants to rp with me -- different strokes and all that) -

Hummmm, I dunno, sometimes it's nice to see people being silly. If it's interrupting mah flow, I just temp block. But sometimes it's just like dat ass. I'm mostly a super srs rper, anyone who's rped with me knows it's a lot of grungy dirty sloppy icky mess where no one wins and everything is dingy and shit, but sometimes you just need the stupid slapstick idiocy to reset. I've never seen anything wrong with ignoring rp that's messing with your jive, but I dunno, it'd be boring if no one broke the mold every now and again. At least for me. As long as everyone is willing to accept that not everyone is going to be ok with their rp, who am I to say what people can and can't do for fun? Cuz, you know, given a chance there's some people out there who would happily get rid of every single rper on the server. *shrugs* edit - Edda has a good point though. The apology on here is pretty pointless. This is one of those things where I'd apologize to anyone who approached you on it, or those who you saw were rping who might've felt like you were trolling them. -

Your wiki is so pretty and I love the way you set your character up. also every time I see you post I freaking love staring at your character. Awesome outfit. -
This thread might be of some use. Another thing I've done is to transfer a character from another server, but that'll cost you so it's not a good option for everyone. 4-6am Pacific time during weekdays has usually been when I've been able to roll new characters, though, if that helps. While you're feeling out other servers, don't be afraid to set up forum rps! edit - nailah beat me to it, hee.

It hurt. It was the kind of hurt that rattled you up and made you shaky, put you on high alert and kept you on your toes. It was the kind of hurt that made you feel high, that made every step conscious. It was unforgiving. Brindle kept to the shadows. He was familiar with that kind of hurt, and knew what it meant; he'd come this close to getting killed. But this time, it wasn't his fault. It was Zhi's fault, because she hadn't done her part right. She'd tripped over something, and he weas the one to pay part of the price. He'd gone low, just like she'd told him to, but they were clever, had been more clever then they'd a right to. So, he'd run. Gone to the deepest, darkest corners he knew about. He'd missed his rendezvous with Zhi. Now he waited, outside Highness, watching people come and go, listening to their chatter. He didn't look too bad, not as far as those things went; he didn't bruise easy (never had), and they hadn't gotten in much on his face. They weren't common thugs. Naw, it'd been something else entirely. Something he'd never come toe to toe with before. It'd shook him up something fierce. He didn't know what to do but to keep watch, keep quiet, keep listening. He'd heard the rumors about Zhi, and he knew it wasn't safe to have anything to do with her right now. But what else was he gonna do? He'd little to show for himself, and he wasn't about to go crawling belly up to one of the ship crews or one of the gangs. Not yet. He wasn't that desperate yet. He took a big breath, put his hands in his pockets, and strolled out of the shadows and up the gangplank to the old ship whose guts had been rearranged to make it a semi-respectable tavern. He'd sit and listen for awhile. It was what he was good at.

What physique does your character prefer? WAIT! In their significant other!
Zhavi replied to g0ne's topic in Fun Prompts
Soft and fleshy for Zhi, because she's always around the hardbitten types and is so scraggly and hard herself. She also has a quiet, un-acknowledged thing for whores.
