  1. Yes, yes it does. I'd actually meant to respond to the thread about how cool it was, but my spazziness must have kicked in and distracted me. >>
  2. Ahh, there are some of us who do rp frequently in Limsa -- part of the problem (as we've discussed in the other thread) is that much of the rp is sort of separate from other rp that happens there. RP is in sporadic locations, and often in Mist, meaning that new rpers or those looking to find rp in Limsa often have a difficult time doing so, and don't know where to start looking. So if you want to see the discussion on that aspect of it, please read the thread here to see if maybe there's something going on(or a character you want to rp with via the directory) that interests you!
  3. Nooo, don't lurk! The more voices active about the topic, the better chance we have of building something lasting that gets more people involved. And yes, please please do post your FC's information here when it's ready! I haven't really hung around the guilds too much since my character probably wouldn't be welcome unless she had business there *coughcough* -- but I admit to curiosity -- are there enforcement groups in Limsa? I haven't seen any in game, but that is definitely something I'd love to know. Zhi would definitely visit if it was near Limsa! I don't suppose you'd be interested in operating a sort of dual-location operation? One in Costa and one somewhere in Limsa? You should totally have them in the Rum n Rumble once it opens, too. What sort of help do you need? I'm going to post some thoughts regarding a treasure hunt rp later (when I'm more awake and coherent) -- in the meantime, if anyone has ideas please don't hesitate to plop them down! Also, if we could get the gambling and the burlesque stuff going on in the same place . . .that would be so freaking awesome.
  4. This poll was designed to have players pick a spot they'd like to see increased rp within. The winner (and followups) have been chosen. Below you will find my current plan to help increase the rp -- just so y'all are aware of what's going on and so you know I'm still working on it. The Drowning Wench (WINRAR) Short term: I will be sending pms out to FC leaders to see if they would be willing to have a tavern day once a week (or hell, once a month) just to get increased activity and visibility. In a perfect world where the ideal happens, it would be a rotating thing to help get regular rp happening. Short term: Likewise, I will be trying to do increased rp in the Wench, and encouraging Long term: I'm working with a few other people to get some regular once a month event type things going. Long term: Start sending semi-regular pms to those who have posted in the Limsa Character directory to help ensure people are aware of what is going on. But with an opt-out option. Because I really don't want to bother people who don't want to be bothered (and if you read this and are in the Limsa directory and don't want to receive pms for this sort of thing -- reply in this thread or send me a pm and I'll make sure you aren't included ). Long term: Once the rp in the Wench is a bit more visible and active, we'll work to use those connections to start moving forward on the Treasure Hunt rp thing as an opt-in rp to help deepen and broaden Limsa rp between people who rp there. The Missing Member (first loser) & Astalicia (second loser) [*] Long long term: Once steady rp has been established in the Wench, start working on increased usage of the Member and Astalicia. Could be several months from now, but it's something to keep in mind.
  5. There was tension in the line of her shoulders, uncertainty and a vague, hopeful look on her face. Here was a woman who was not overmuch used to dealing with handsome strangers who went out of their way to flirt with her. Here was a woman who did not often go out for a good time. One who paid attention to details would see the old inkstains on her fingers, the rigid posture, the deposits of fat that formed on one who spent long hours seated. Her clothing suggested back-room office away from clientele, but her smile was warm and welcoming -- she was not kept out of sight for lack of social skills, though they could be considered a little rusty. The slope of her shoulders suggested weariness, while the stiff way she walked returned, again, to length of time spent sitting. There were half-circles under her eyes and an earnestness about her that spoke to long hours spent working. The physical signs were there, though whether or not that work was done honestly remained to be seen. "Its reputation is very well deserved," Jingi agreed, brushing a stray strand of hair back. Her hair was pulled into a severe bun, but flyaways had inevitably happened; the number of them suggested she had touched her hair often throughout the day, as her hair was otherwise orderly. Perhaps it had been done unintentionally or in frustration, as she attempted to subtly put them into order now that someone was talking to her. "I never quite had a talent for music myself, so I am always delighted to hear the talented play." There was an odd hesitation there -- the mark of the tactful when realizing they do not know just how talented their conversational partner is. Her cheeks reddened. She forced a laugh, winced at the sound. She was aware she sounded like a bleating sheep, abhorred herself for it. "I dare say there isn't much of interest to tell of myself; I am not glamorous or interesting, I'm afraid."
  6. "Oho, what's this?" Zhi turned away from the table, dice in hand and cigarette hanging off her lower lip. "If I didn't know better, I'd think ye were tryin' yer hand at diggin' on me. But surely ye wouldn't do that, on account ye should know better'n t' go 'round snufflin' like a blimmin' lackwit. At least make it interestin' fer me." She tsked. "Jager, Jager, Jager -- surely ye don't plan on disappointin' th' lasses all evenin'?" She rolled. Six and five. Sighed. Pushed the coin towards his side of the table, along with the dice.
  7. One and six. A slow, satisfied look overtook her, and she looked up expectantly to the pile of coins. "Thirty gil in th'pot, dovey." Sweeter than candy, that voice. "Who gives a shit who's older? Plenty o' ol' men get their guts ripped out by th'younger. Plenty o' pups get tossed in th'drink, all th'same. Age ain't got no meanin'. Experience's what counts. Experience an' skill, an' I got plenty o' both." From the mouths of babes.
  8. "So ye don't go ruttin' everythin' that moves! Marvel, that is." Shock and awe colored Zhi's tone, with a generous dollop of mockery. "Ain't seen th'tagalong in some time, though. Ain't sure what happened t'him, ain't gonna ask." Five and three. She grinned back at him, waved her fingers at him to put down his money. She lit up and took a long inhalation. "Ain't sure. Me mam counted fer awhile . . . but once I struck out I never bothered. What's th'point, hey? Why? D'ye keep count?" She ignored the lady bit -- it was terrible bait.
  9. Zhi snickered as she took her money back. Her roll. Three and one. She left them where they lay, disgusted. "She taught me what she could, from her back. Nippin' money, that's what I learned, and fer that I needed none t'teach me but meself. That's how't is, th'world over. D'lyhhia," she said, and rolled her eye. "I'm scopin' her. I'll get me money's worth out o' that one, fer all she's greener 'n Gridania."
  10. Zhi patted herself down and came up with varying amounts of gil. She stacked these to her right, picked out enough coins to equal twenty, and plunked them down. "Thought ye looked t'be bad in yer cups. Need yerself a minder, ye do. If it was in reach, I drank it. Like ye had t'ask." She snorted. Pain management. That was what it was. "C'mon, roll an' throw out fer me." Her smile might have looked sweet if it wasn't for the bruising. She started rolling herself her own smoke, deft and neat. It was obvious this was a chore she'd practiced many, many times. "An' fer this -- if ye get chance I'll toss a neat little cigarette in th'pile fer ye." Her smile was ugly.
  11. "Too bad," Zhi said, and scooped the dice up. "Twenty gil minner on first roll. Thirty on chance." She tossed the dice. Six and five -- nearly a mirror roll of his own. She flicked them back his way. "Ye make a habit o' forgettin' what ye've left in yer room, or are ye jes weak wi' booze?"
  12. With a sigh of abject misery, Zhi pushed herself up from her seat and hobbled over to the items that had been tossed in her general direction before his temper had previously sent him from the room. It was entirely possible she was overexaggerating her limp, what with the way she carried on with it -- but eventually she made it back to her seat in one piece and handed him the bag. She procured a worn set of dice and slid them his way. "First roll's yers. Aie, I had me own smoke fer when ye got back but. . ." she slowly looked up at him. "Yer carryin' on made me lose it."
  13. Zhi grunted. "Played Hazard? An' hey, ye don't have anythin' t'light up wi'? I'm dyin' fer a smoke." Her stare indicated this state of being was his fault.
  14. Zhi shrugged. "There's some what goes fer that. Yer pick. Since I stole yer lass away from ye, an' all." She would have winked, but the swollen eye made that impossible. She pricked her ears forward instead, and let smugness leak from her smirk.
  15. "I'll be dead, so not like I'll care." Zhi shrugged one shoulder back at him, her grin lopsided. "Half. . .huh. Ye'd have t'find one that'd suit me, first." Funny thing, that. She looked from him to the table. "Ye gonna dice wi' me, 'r am I rollin' it alone?"
  16. I was a huge band nerd in high school. (piano, flute, and percussion when needed)
  17. You're a cool guy. Like Nat said, if you can't find that high performance cloud storage thing on the cheap, could we try doing a community paypal or whatever?
  18. I watched Treasure Island two weekends ago with my niece, and this song is still getting stuck in my head.
  19. I'll be in my corner. Crying. #totallyyourfault
  20. Leila wasn't a fighter. But she was a woman, and she had her pride, and she was furious. Zhi was counting on her. Zhi knew about Leila. More than Leila knew about Zhi. And as untrained a fighter as Zhi was, she still knew more about it then Leila. Even with her body stiff and sore. So, when Leila came stomping back, looking to slap Zhi or pull her hair or any other means of venting her frustration that was widespread gossip about the lass, Zhi sidestepped around and pushed her flush up against the doorframe, dagger-point up and under her chin. "Get me food or don't get me food. Ain't such a big fuss, hey? But I swear on yer ol' mam if ye even so much as breathe a word that ye saw me here, there'll be tears shed an' they sure as scarlet won't be mine. Here's yer pay fer th'day, an' a tip asides. Come back in a few suns an' ye can spend a whole week wi' his worthless hide. Ain't skin off me tail. Understand?" The knife-point dug into the lass' neck. Zhi held up the coin in her other hand, held it out. Leila's eyes were wide and glossy, but there was also something of a defeated air about her. Leila had been in plenty bad situations before. Leila knew what it was to be beaten. Leila knew a good deal when she saw one. She opened up one of her hands. The coin made a pretty sound as it fell into her palm. "Hag," Leila spat when she was further down the hall and sufficiently out of reach. Zhi limped back inside and shut the door. She sighed. "Now yer jes bein' a damn bother yerself. Bet ye fifteen gil ye won't see this side of her arse again, heh. Ye up fer a game o'dice? Ain't gonna be sleepin' now I've gone an' set everythin' t'achin'." She sat down at his table, slowly shoving the empty bottles and cigarette stubs out of the way. "If I get meself killed, then Brindle will finish up me own part in it, and ye can pick up th'job wi' Thatcher. C'mon." She crooked a finger at him, expectant.
  21. The Nightblades are setting up a dive sort of tavern in their fc basement. From what I've heard, it sounds wicked awesome!
  22. The point is people shouldn't have to work around such power plays. My point is that in a big community sometimes it's going to happen. It isn't about my personal preferences, but rather how I deal with things as they occur.
  23. Yeah, honestly, that's one of the problems we face in the prostitution ring rp with me and the rest of the gang from Heaven's Gate and everyone else. I heavily had to invent stuff in order to rp as a character who grew up on the streets of Limsa-the-city-that-is-not-represented-in-game-why-do-you-hate-Limsa-Square-Enix and who would be involved with a plethora of shady characters. There are a few npc groups in game, but I didn't want to touch those because rp means change. Change means . . . I just didn't want to mess with them. So I made some up. A lot. The rogue's guild is incoming. I expect there to be new lore that touches on more of Limsa's pirates and smuggling. It will probably negate some of the setup I've done with HG/Path and some of the stuff I've rped with other characters. But honestly, I'd rather have to go back and fix things then not do it at all, you know? I do like technical. I know I said in the other thread that sometimes simplifying is for the best, but honestly, yeah -- where it's possible to nail things down to the nitty gritty, that's what I prefer. But sometimes, when you have a whole platoon of differing opinions. . .it's just not possible.
  24. It would be like a bunch of us Garleans (My FC's alts and the Garlean FC in Ul'dah, deciding to storm the castle with all their weaponry and technology and say "We've taken over the city now." Do you think everyone would appreciate it? No. Some would go along with it because it would be fun for them, but many many RPers would feel put out that it happened at all. Forcing something they wanted nothing to do with and US saying "Whelp, the Garleans took Ul'dah, if you don't like it, ignore it." I think we can all agree that would be a problem. I have nothing at stake with anything going on in Ul'dah, so I'm gonna give you a theoretical. If someone did something in Limsa that was at total odds with my rp, to the point that it somehow broke my rp, I would first try to talk to whomever was organizing it to see if we couldn't make the two fit together. If that, despite all best intentions and efforts, became impossible, then I would continue to rp alongside them while totally ignoring anything having to do with stuff that broke my rp. Why? Because I'm stubborn. I have chosen this as a hobby, I will make it work. As long as even one person is interested in rping with me, I will continue doing what I'm doing. I've been called nasty names for having that sort of attitude (not here, different site), but to me it's just sorta. . .live and let live. I will do my best to compromise, but at the end of the day I need to have fun. That goes for every rper, I think. And I am really sorry you feel like stuff has broken your rp. That's never a good feeling to have.
