  1. How to Use This Thread Post in this thread with the name of your plot, ongoing event, or group; the RP styles of this plot, ongoing event, or group (listed below); what it is (plot, ongoing event, or group); contact(s) and any appropriate outside links (be it within the RPC or outside); and a brief summary of what is going on with your plot, ongoing event, or group. I will then list your plot, ongoing event, or group in the appropriate section in alphabetical order. If you have any links to RP aids specific to Limsa Lominsa, just plunk the link down in the thread and I'll add it. RP Styles Different people enjoy different styles of RP. To help make it faster for people to find the type of rp they like, I will be using five very basic categories to tag people with. Please note that your rp can have one or all of these. If anyone has suggestions towards a different method of organization, by all means speak up. Law & Order [LO] The rp is played in part from the perspective of Yellowjackets, Mealvaan's Gate, Maelstrom, Barracudas, or civilians who are voluntarily (or otherwise) taking up the defense of Limsa against any and all threats. Legitimate Society [LS] The rp is played in part from the perspective of citizens or visitors who play in some part by the rules. Whether or not the people themselves are actively honest, what they are doing or are participating in is legal. Black Markets [bM] The rp involves breaking laws, and probably the black market. This rp is played from the perspective of smugglers, thieves, pirates, and any other individual or group who deals under the table. Predatory Society [PS] The individuals in this rp differ from the above in that they are specifically looking to somehow take advantage of and control others. They might even be interested in controlling territory, and whatever business happens within that territory. Gangs/mafia, or any nobility types or governmental types looking to accrue power would belong here. Random, Connections or Fun [RCF] These are events and plots that are more focused on getting together and letting things shake out however they may. They do not necessarily have a specific focus, but are more aimed towards socializing or, well, anything else. Beach parties, tournaments, and other such amalgams of different folks that doesn't focus on any of the above would be included.
  2. The goal of this thread is to provide an area where players looking to get involved and/or increase connections in Limsa rp will be able to see what is available at a glance. It might take off or it might not, but we won't know unless we try! To help this take off, I will need people to post their group/story/plot in here that they are willing to open up to other rpers. The idea is that by doing this, people who have had a difficult time finding rp in Limsa will be able to reach out and get involved. **Please note that if you are looking for a place to post details on your individual character who is primarily or frequently involved in Limsa RP, you should browse/post in the Limsa Lominsa Directory. However, if you want to start rp with your individual character or have a plot hook for that character, post away.** **Please do not post here if your rp is private or not open to outsiders looking to get involved.** Contents How to Use This Thread Limsa Lominsa RP Aids: Links to further help your adventures in Limsa Lominsa RP, as well as any OOC Limsa Lominsa initiatives designed to help bring us all together. RP Groups: Groups who primarily rp within Limsa Lominsa. These can include those that are purely IC or OOC and do not have an associated FC or LS. Please include your group even if it does not operate in Limsa Lominsa all the time. Active RP: Ongoing RP plots and stories that are focused in and around Limsa Lominsa. NPC & Setting: NPC individuals or groups open for use in Limsa Lominsa. As well, any settings within Limsa Lominsa that people have used for their rp to help account fill out the rather sparse in-game landscape. Inactive and Completed RP: RP plots and stories focused in and around Limsa Lominsa that have since finished.
  3. "Boss's been bitchin' 'bout business again," Zhi said, in the tone of one long suffering, with the expression of someone who really isn't listening to the conversation and couldn't give a flying chamberpot about what the current topic was. She gave each of them a glance, and then resumed staring at their surroundings.
  4. Sleeping was better than being awake. If that meant drinking enough until she puked and passed out. . .well, maybe she wasn't about to go that far, but she meant to get past the next few days as smoothly as possible. Mostly by laying in bed, drinking herself silly, and only getting up to crouch over the pot or acquire food. Somehow. Cue the noise of footsteps in the hall. Closer, and closer. A whore's voice was evident, one that she recognized. Knowing Jager's habits . . . yup, there he was. Stupid face and all. Zhi squinted with her good eye; the other had swollen nearly shut. "Ahh, jes in time. Here, be a pet an' fetch me some grub." She dug out a coin and flipped it Leila's way. Was her expression smug? Maybe just a little, underneath all the swelling.
  5. . . .He didn't have to take the smokes. Zhi patted down her pockets, looking for any pitiful excuse for something she could shove between her lips and light on fire. She found something -- something a little different from what he'd been serving her -- and stuffed it into her mouth. She didn't have a light. Gods above, she didn't have a light. "Yer a ruttin' scrag," she said to the ceiling, intending the words for a certain deity who held a fondness for scales. So was her evening spent nursing another bottle and amusing herself with staring out the window and imagining various scenarios happening to various people in and around the city. Some of them she held a fair inkling of their activities. Like Jager. She wondered if she should rein it in a little, keep him fat and happy until she no longer needed to assure herself of his . . . yup, she was drunk. The lights spun and pulsed. Her body ached. Singing snatches of tavern ditties in a voice that should never be used for singing, Zhi eventually passed out. Alone. As usual.
  6. "Aw." Zhi propped her head up on her arm. Carefully. "Pity ran out?" Not that she expected him to reply. She didn't give him time to. "Ye comin' back?"
  7. "Ye did," she said. She rolled her open eye. It hurt. The bottle hit her in her shoulder, after she fumbled it. Depth perception, one eye -- the result was the same so she didn't put up a fuss about it. She finished up the one he'd handed her and went to work opening the new one. What'd he want? He thought after they shared some fists and bruises she was going to tell her life story? What'd that even matter, anyways? It didn't affect her work, and that was all that was between them. Work. The bottle was empty by the time he returned.
  8. Zhi stared at Jager over the bottle. Her face was just starting to swell; red marks were starting to deepen and mature. In a day or two she would be a marvelous explosion of color. "Ye still on about th'beatin'? Gerroff it. I asked ye to, what, ye think I'll change me mind an' start gabbin' at ye? Nothin' but yer own mind kickin' at ye over't. Gaw, I think yer snivelin's hurtin' worse'n th'beatin'." Getting personal wasn't exactly her idea of a nice afterparty to their tangle in the street.
  9. The grin was sudden and delighted. "'Z'," she said, her back straightening the slightest bit. She did look up at him, then.
  10. Oh pish! I do. . .at least . . . . . .when I'm able to get in game. . . . . . :frustrated:
  11. I'm not really an event type person -- it's a holdover from the bunches of forum rp I do on other sites. But I would be supportive of someone who did want to do an event in Limsa, and would certainly help out however I could! In the meantime though, my focus is on connecting the various disparate people who do rp in Limsa and start up some plot bits or help out where I can and when I'm able. And continue to find those who do rp in Limsa, since it seems very much like the rp is there, it's just that no one sees each other rping. edit - and what Kellach said. Consistency is super important.
  12. Challenge accepted. PM ON THE WAY.
  13. Give here a looksee for FCs/LSs, if you haven't already.
  14. Coming as someone who is trying to do her best in Limsa -- it's possible that these people who have spoken up are trying. It's difficult to move a bunch of people. You have to coordinate oocly. RL steps in and slows you down. Keeping track of all the various plot threads (not forum rp, but all the strains of various character interactions) is difficult. Moreso because at least with forum rp you can keep track of everything at a glance. That, and, most characters have got multiple things going on, and IC connections to other characters. When someone is already in a specific place with specific short or long term goals/plans, it takes a big, whopping change to get them out of that area, because ICly they've got their roots put down and pressing reasons why they need to stay. Nothing wrong with that! Cue why I'm always jumping all over anyone who even mentions Limsa in their intros! I want them to know that even if they don't see any open rp, there are rpers in Limsa who would welcome them with open arms. Also why I will eventually pm someone who does rp in Limsa (assuming I don't scare them off with my overly exuberant wordiness. . .which I think does happen, occasionally. *coughcough* My bad.) But, to me, all the joking and encouragement aside -- I think it's perfectly possible for people to rp in numerous places. Some characters will be stuck in only a few places, yes, but I think there are many more whose characters can move between different areas and experience all there is to offer. Which means it's the people who feel that there isn't sufficient rp or that the setting isn't good enough in other places whose hearts and minds are in need of convincing. The rest will fall out during the rp. So, my point: Some rivalry is good. Some good natured ribbing about not liking Ul'dah, or Limsa, or Gridania is good and not meant to be insulting or putting down those who do like the area. But I think sometimes it's important to remember that any rp in any area is good rp, and we should all be encouraging to the rp wherever it happens -- whether or not we're participating. We should remember that fostering rp isn't easy for everyone. Some people want a chance to rp elsewhere, but are themselves shy or terrified of the idea of reaching out. That's okay. It's those people we should be the most supportive towards, even if we can't understand why they're struggling to move, or whatnot.
  15. "'O'" Zhi repeated. "Like a box-o'-rocks." She did smile then, pleased with herself. She, at least, understood that different letters had different sounds. Someone, long ago, had said as much to her, and she'd figured it out from listening and observing, anyways. So she didn't bring up how strange it seemed that an 'oh' sound could also be an 'ah' sound, but she still thought it. It was what it was.
  16. ((self reference, letters zhi knows: a,z,m,t,u,n,e,h,r)) Zhi watched the movement, leaning in closer to get a good look. Determination was there, too. She mouthed the name 'Joz.' "Th' 'ah' sound. 'Sit 'a'?"
  17. Zhi shook her head and bit her lip. There was a struggle present on her face: pride in her defensiveness.
  18. "Uh huh," Zhi's tone was just as flat. "What, I can't smell that sour. Been keepin' washed fer one o'me takes -- Cap'n don't seem t'like dirty streetrunners." Her words were slow, with frequent breaks. Even her lips throbbed. "So I gets me a scrub afore I see him. Can't be that bad." She stretched that little bit more, and connected. The contents of the bottle were chugged, but not finished. She broke off with a gasp, and held it back up. "Once all o'this is done, I might take ye up on that. Mebbe. Long as yer coin's good." Humor was present in her voice, but the smile was resisted. "Fer now, I need ye t'toss th'room. Night's good; Styrm shouldn't be there at night."
  19. Zhi looked up from her fingers. Pick a new one? She made a face. "What's that got t'do wi'learnin' me letters, then?" What would she even choose for a name? What even made a name? Most were just meaningless sounds to her. "How'm I supposed t'jes pick out a new name? Wastin' me time! Jes teach me how t'spell Joz." She sounded cross, but her shoulders were curved inward, her hands held close to her stomach. Defensive.
  20. Zhi shrugged one shoulder, untucking her hands from her armpits to pick at her nails. She looked down at them, hair flopping loose over her face. "Gutterborn." It was a common name for streetrats and the like.
  21. A small smile was her answer to his joke, though no laughter was forthcoming. "Are roegadyn names so hard t'spell, then?"
  22. The way Zhi lifted her head and cast her eyes down at the page was awkward at best. Her hands fluttered from knees to floor to tucked under her armpits. She avoided looking at Styrm entirely. "Umm. . .mhmm," she said, tone vague with just the tiniest hint of uncertainty.
  23. I like you. Can she just be serially forgetful? For some reason a historian who can't remember what she studied while being cute in a tall, brawny, stupid person way just makes me flat out happy. You're neat. Welcome to the RPC!

This, then, was as it should be. "I'll be keepin' tabs once ye've got yer . . . deal worked out," she murmured, not sure if Thatcher would hear her and not caring. She'd done her job, and she'd other business to mind. She'd check in with Thatcher later. For the moment, she offered one last sneer, skipped the lantern, and forsook the tunnel in favor of climbing up the wall and quickly out of sight.
