I had to recheck my sources but you're right. Interesting that they would choose to use the term "Auracite" then given that "Magicite" is not an outdated or mistranslated term in the least. (though I do know they've used auracite before in FFXIV for the "white auracite" in the MSQ, this is really the first time we've had the materiel referenced as containing power indefinitely and using it to summon that power unto yourself. Tactics references abound!)

I'm not so sure he teleported. My guess is that he pulled a flashbang of sorts to blind everyone that did not affect him since he was wearing his helm which would have protected him against it (though why this would affect Y'shtola is a mystery but then we don't know the full nature of her vision either). While everyone was blinded he ran. I believe that makes more sense for Garleans than some manner of teleportation. As for him pulling a betrayal of the Emperor...well his full name "Regulus van Hydrus" translates to "Rule of the Serpent" in a combination of Latin and Dutch (Regula = Latin for "rule", van = "for/of" in Dutch, Hydrus = Latin for "water-snake"). Take that as you will.

Okay so we have folks talking about the MSQs in other threads but I've seen nobody bring this up yet... During the Warring Triad quest we learn a few key pieces of information. First and foremost we learn our little masked and robed friend has the Echo and is apparently from a whole 'nuther world/star which from his description is reminiscent again of FF6 and the World of Ruin (it can be argued that Auracite has also been used in FFXII/Tactics to summon/bestow one's self with power and we don't know what happened to Ivalice after Vagrant Story, but FF6 fits the referential material more). He also has some mysterious power with the Echo that is yet again different from the WoL's but we don't know what that is yet. This adds another layer of complication to the Echo as...since he's from another world we have to wonder how he came about having the Echo. The other rather interesting curiosity to drop from this solo-instance is that Regula van Hydrus has shown us some of the hidden power of magitek weaponry. Apparently he has inhibitors/limiters on his hybrid blunderbuss/greatsword which when released allow for a massively destructive ceruleum discharge. That makes sense...but what really got me was the massive Ceruleum Servant and the name of his DPS check ability called Servant Enkindle. Other than being a reference to Kefka with the tiger, the ability seemed to imply that the Garleans have found a way to create familiars/servants of a sort that are slaved to their weapons via ceruleum. Given that ceruleum is essentially liquid aether, this magickal property makes sense and the fact that it could only shield van Hydrus from attacks also seems to make sense since the Garleans have no natural means of controlling aether. This would mean it can only attack when the weapon the servant is slaved to is prepared to attack. I don't see this being a thing common to magitek weaponry as van Hydrus' words seemed to imply his weapon was a special case (especially since we've never seen a Garlean do this before). It also appeared to be a last ditch effort as using it immediately ended the fight, left ceruleum residue everywhere and likely drained the ceruleum reserves from his weapon leaving it no longer "enhancing his bladework by tenfold" as he stated. I'm curious to know what the RPC thinks about this. Feel free to discuss.

Ishgard, post 3.3 (OBVIOUSLY SPOILERS FOR MSQ)
Wemrys replied to Warren Castille's topic in FFXIV Discussion
According to the Hildibrand questline, they still exist, and may have something to do with the people shadowing the Mandervilles in Coerthas Western Highlands. Y'know, after Julyan blows a gasket and /bstances with a giant frypan? The Hildebrand questline seems to canonically take place before the end of 3.3 and the establishment of the House of Lords/Commons as when you speak with Cyr in Foundation after finishing both those quests and the 3.3 quests he tells you the Inquisitors are packing it up and he's out of a job (see my post on the previous page in this thread). -
Ishgard, post 3.3 (OBVIOUSLY SPOILERS FOR MSQ)

If you speak with Cyr in Foundation after completing the MSQ and the current Manderville questline he states exactly this: -
It's a racing snail. Thundersnail. [video=youtube]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S9nXwU9xAhM

There are simply no words for all of this. This is by far one of the best hype trailers they've done in a while. [video=youtube] Also Ozma...

Not sure if anyone got to you yet but as it says at the bottom of the original post the easiest way to contact our officers is to reach out to aeolian.mode, vi_lindon, and kosak70 on Skype or Khyran Oisin, Vi Lindon, and Eduard Harlow in game. They'll be glad to help you out.

Ah...more ex-SWTORians like myself. Hello and welcome!

To be fair, Ozma was the most difficult boss in the game. Once you beat him there was no reason to think the rest of the game had anything on you (even Hades is frightened if you fight him after fighting Ozma) so there was no need to give you a huge reward. Most older games with superbosses did this (see also: Nemesis in FFX)

So the dev team did one of its usual innocuous blog posts where they talked about testing out the Weeping City of Mhach raid over the past week with a large group. They talked about balancing it and how we'll be fighting crocodiles... But the kicker came at the end of the post where they made mention that they wanted to leave us with "an impressive scene"... Oh...oh god why... (for the uninitiated: http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Ozma )

While I don't play DRG I've always thought Nibelung Valesti would be my LB3 macro for it. "It shall be engraved upon your soul." "Divine assault..." "NIBELUNG VALESTI" *attack happens, cool guy pose* "Such is your fate..."

RE: The Hildebrand quests... ?

WUT. I really hope this isn't one of those enigmatic things they refer to once and never talk about again...

Not sure what to tell you there, this is how the game has been since launch and this is how most treadmill/vertical progression MMOs have been working for a long while. As for the preview itself...I don't think we're fighting the entire Warring Triad. Likely we're fighting Fiend/Doom first (as pictured) and then we'll fight the other two in each patch after leading up to a battle against all three in some manner. I for one am glad that some of the content is gonna be tied to the MSQ. I just hope the MSQ lasts longer than an hour this time.

Spotted by an eagle-eyed Redditor (left and right respectively...boy that looks a lot like Nashu and that festive looking guy seems to be doing a rather gentlemanly pose!):

Probably grinding out my anima weapon.

It looks like it's built on the same engine as FF15 which would explain how they have gameplay to show off so fast and why the gameplay and cutscene graphical fidelity look about the same. It would also make it easy to streamline combat as well since it wouldn't have to be much different.

Hope you guys like action RPGs because that's what this new trailer from the Playstation Experience 2015 expo shows off! [video=youtube]

"Hey gang! Give me more of your money so we can make the game you've been begging us for since the original was released! What? Fund it with the millions I've made over the years? Nah. I'll just grub another 3.3 million out of you and then beg for more later on down the line." -Tim Schafer, probably. I want to be excited...but I'm not.

I haven't had a sad RP on FFXIV in my time on it quite yet. Not one that made me cry anyway, but I can tell you about the first time I did cry in a roleplay situation. I was at a LARP some time back and playing as a staff NPC during the big end of weekend event (we went in-character 24 hours a day for 3 days straight at each event with no soft-stop on activities so that night owls could have events in the dead of night). The whole in game town had been fighting off invaders during the day and undead during the night all weekend and were exhausted from it all. Cue our NPC military detachment tromping into town. We were supposedly the good-guys, coming in to inspect the town and check in with the military unit of player characters assigned to the town. Our NPC leader met with the leaders of the town's unit (the commander of which being the game director's NPC and the Lieutenant being an actual paying player) in front of the whole town of player characters. The NPC in charge of our side spoke with the Lieutenant and asked to see an heirloom of the Lieutenant's...an old gun. The NPC took the gun, complimented it, and then shot the Lieutenant dead with it in front of all in attendance. Cue massive battle. The aftermath of it I observed as a different nameless NPC and found myself in tears over all of the players who were distraught about the loss of one of the longest running and most well-liked player characters in game. (It had been the player's choice to retire the character)
