Hmmmm my experience in Balmung has been great. I didn't really have problems with the eltist/stand-offish people you saw? I RP in my FC and with people not in my fc. People RP in the cities and in the world There's a lot of RP if you want it. Heavensward is out now so a lot of those RPers are focusing on that. But in the next few weeks it'll be back to normal and RP will resume as usual. I'd be willing to help you a bit if you want. My character ICly is kinda an arrogant jerk though so I hope you don't get turned away by that. If you're planning on transferring to Balmung, I would wait though. Log in times are HELL because of HW.

I am continuing to RP with my FC over one of the hidden Linkpearls my character keeps on him (read: paranoid butt)...I did this to force a change in my character so I would hate RPing him less as well as get me to go stop RPing to farm some gear before HW. I am bored not RPing...but the stick has been removed from my character's butt so I'm happy. That and I made a new enemy ^^

If you're set on changing him, then by all means its your character, but it does make me sad to hear this. You shouldn't have to change what you want to do based on bad experiences. HOWEVER, it sounds like you're bringing a lot of aggro to your RP if it has potential to spill over like that. I would suggest instead of making him good or switching him around, find some brand new RP people to test a more toned down version of your character on. I think this is an important point to raise so i will do it here: THE TERM "GODMODDING", DOES NOT AND SHOULD NOT JUST REFER TO POWER, BATTLE AND ABILITIES. What i mean by this, is that more chaotic characters should not be godmodders in personality either. If you're brushing people off or outright abusing them; thats godmodding. If your character absolutely CANNOT be convinced of doubt even slightly or make them upset; thats godmodding. Chaotic people are exactly that; PEOPLE. They will have weakness. People should be able to shake their foundations with words as well as weapons. I would never consider him all powerful and his personality impossible to work with, but I think he deserves a change of heart. He's so angry that I even considered killing him and starting over. The plan I have for him is to have him have a change of heart and kind of make him more what I originally intended. The RP I have had on him has been fun, don't get me wrong. But I've had people be like "It's difficult to RP with you because your character never loosens up," or get a tell like "Are you pissed off with me?" The thing is he actually does loosen up, but around people he has been with for a very long time. It's weird to me that people expect him to be super open with them literally after 5 minutes of RP. And Ashe has been convinced of doubt. I've had him go into surprisingly deep conversations, had people he works with get mad at him and him reflect on the fact on some shit he did was REALLY stupid ('cause it was). He's also felt guilt...but the fact that he is so hellbent on revenge pisses me off. That being said, I'm also not cut out for RPing nice characters. Like I'm really bad at it. It always sounds so fake or makes the characters sound really stupid. So Ashe will never be super nice.

My character is like...the most awful person ever. Like I mean even I wouldn't be friendly towards him (it's amazing some characters are). I think people more respect the fact that he's smart rather than like him because he's so unlikable. Ashe became a jerk by accident though. I was OOCly frustrated with the lot I was RPing with early early on. Like SUPER early on. He was only supposed to be arrogant, but not really a "bad guy." But he turned into this asshole with a HUGE chip on his shoulder and then became wannabe super villain. I've had people get mad at me OOCly because they thought I was mad OOCly when I was just RPing Ashe...that and I've been told he's very difficult to RP with by people who have characters who just want to have fun. I'm going out of my way to change him now. Trying to ICly move him to where he will have a change of heart. I've been working on making him nicer too. Being the super villain was just too much ahaha.

I may come bothering you at some point. I can see our characters not getting along haha (in a fun way).

Asheloux is a very sharp-tongued academic and researcher of magics as well as organic-based matter, and I am kind of looking for like-minded characters to RP with. I agree with all the people who say that communication is key. Usually I am either talking on TS with FC mates or Party Chat while RPing with people to make it clear that any IC intentions I have are just IC--not OOC. Admittedly it makes me uncomfortable when I try to establish something OOC (i.e. a boundary) that is completely ignored. When that happens I will just tend to write that person out as someone who isn't mature enough to handle two separate identities (their own and their character). I have always tried to make my characters are different from me as possible--this includes in my writing outside of FFXIV. That's why I tend to RP male characters. It sets up an OOC boundary from the start, in my opinion....that and I just tend to write male characters better >.< But yeah. I really do think that communication OOCly is key and if someone is unable to handle two separate things (IC/OOC) and keep them separate, they shouldn't be RPing....

I'd like to bump this up as our FC is currently looking for more RPers--specifically more scholarly types and merchant and political types. Put the plot on hold, start something with someone else. if someone asks what they are up to, come up with a believable reason as to why you are not with that person. A person who was RPing as my research assistant up and vanished and I used his character's basis/goals/etc to come up with a reasonable excuse as to why I don't have an assistant at the moment but it's not like a "he's dead whatevs" end-all that he couldn't come back if he decides to pick up the game again! This could also be a great chance to widen your RP circle of friends!

Not sure if this is the right place to post but I am moving to California in a few days and have Comcast as my new internet provider. My plan looks something like: Max Download: Up to 25.0 Mbps and Max Upload: Up to 10.Mbps...or maybe 5? In any case. I am wondering if this is enough. Any suggestions on how I can still use comcast (because my new building makes me) and still be able to play on my PS4?

I dropped my controller when the echo was taken away. HOWEVER having the new minion (for RP) purposes stupidly made me happy because of IC thingies with my character. Anyways, I am not 100% done with 2.5 (stupid servers shut down)....but I got the spoilers. Though.....if your character made a pact with Midgardsormr, then what will the Ishgardians think in Heavensward when we walk into their city like "sup guys, btw this dragon thing, no big deal" >> Just a thought.

Hmmmmm I RP a heretic with exile parents (read: crazy scientist)....If you don't want your character to live IN Ishgard you could potentially add a way for him to have left or have his family exiled. Currently, in my personal opinion and the general idea of Ishgardian RPers from what I've seen is that it's much easier to RP an exile than nobility with the information we have (though the 2.5 lore bomb yo. that lore bomb). To stay as a miqo'te but Ishgardian he/she could be adopted and then family exiled? Your character would have ties to the place. Father may even have raised the character to revere halone, etc. Better to be exiled than be pinned a heretic though for sure. <---quick tl;dr two cents

I'm sorry! My raid group has been kidnapping me everyday to make sure we downed T13 this week. We had to replace three people so we've had a lot of people we had to catch up! I'm on now and I'll probably be on hanging out tonight. Man I'll have to try to make set nights just to relax doing easy content/roleplaying on Null so I'm easier to catch. You'll hate me for this one. Turns out I won't be on tonight. My ethernet cable was taken yesterday, and my PS3 keeps disconnecting me every two minutes. Can't stay signed into the game. Got kicked off earlier today and haven't been able to sign on since, I'm sitting here now trying to get it to load past the start menu and it's just not happening. I'll make sure to buy a new chord before raid tomorrow. I'll make an effort to check in and try to get a hold of you in game this week. No problem haha If possible, maybe send me a PM here? Or I can give you some form of IM so we can plot? It's easier for me to plot in tells/TS/IM than in the middle of a forum that I check once a day xPP
