A comprehensive look at the Seventh Umbral Era story arc [1.0]
Moltove replied to Merri's topic in Lore Discussion
I could have sworn that there was a post by Yoshi P or someone, stating that not a terrible amount of people died in the Eorzean Alliance...he alluded to either the death rate being surprisingly smaller than one would think, or perhaps the number of people actually at the battle (which would mean while most everyone was wiped out, it was still a smaller number). I wish I could remember if it was a Forum post or a Letter...*sigh* -
Only one piercing in my left ear. I had both, and one on my cartlidge on my left but they got infected from Lake Eerie (no suprise) or I just didn't care for the other. I've thought about lip and/or tongue, but I think I'm pretty set with my one. I've had this hoop and ball earring for some time, which is two gauges bigger than a standard earring. I do not like plugs or stretching at all. As for tattoos, I have none. I have ideas for a few but can't seem to stick with a design. One I must design myself (A Masonic one), one that's a Pokemon one (yeah...-.-; and ), A Legend of Zelda one ( http://www.wickedwallets.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/z/e/zelda-wallet-outer.jpg -- that design and expand it somehow, then quite possibly a less serious one, like two and three-quarters heart meter). I also want the Legacy tattoo -.-; if not, then the Meteor symbol somewhere. Recently, my g/f said I'd look good with a script tattoo on my upper arm. While I don't have any daily mantras from my life, I'm wondering if there has been something that I've always said to myself to keep me steady, or something of the like? Most importantly, There are tattoos that I'll absolutely love, but I just don't want to copy them. I'll think they're mostly perfect and have nothing to add or fix, but I just don't want to rip off a design. I feel that way about the Pidgeots but...I dunno, maybe I can take in the designs and have the artist make them a bit more differently.

Trolls are bad, but old news since the start of the interwebz. While MMOs help you 'escape' and let you put on an anonymous mask, it does make it a bit more personal, as you have a representative body in the game, as they do as well. As been noted, do your best to ignore them. I havn't seen too much of anything this past weekend on Balmung. Once person shouted if anyone was interested in cybering with a ftua Miqo'te. Another remarked on why Balmung "shouldn't be the official rp server" (his words, not mine), but no one said anything about it afterwords. Obviously, he's not in the know of current events, and doesn't realize that no RPer wouldn't do that. I dunno. I do feel for you, but as time goes on, the Trolling seems to get worse in games. But what other people are saying is right-- give it some time after launch and you'll soon find the player base (and trolls) drops off a bit. Gilgamesh may have it a little worse (4chan is home of Anonymous, after all), but it's bound to follow the same pattern. And I'd like to make note that not everyone in these websites are bad, but they do have some serious numbers on them. Just give them some time to settle down. From the start of my RP career years ago I've learned it's just best to not draw attention to yourself if you want to go about peacefully. Any other means may put up a fight, but may end up in your favor as well.

haha! I thought about going as a trainer and getting her a Sandshrew hoodie =P I'm also thinking, if time permits, that if we go as Breeders, we can carry eggs with us to sell them or just plain hand them out.

Molt will be primarily PUG...it's the first and strongest thing he's ever trained in, other than LNC/THF. I just try to look at his entire life on a timeline and plot out about when he started certain events, training classes included. I try to be realistic on what a year or two or five can do for someone focusing on something. I also consider what he would do on a day to day basis. I figure since fantasy characters don't (necessarily) have to go to work and especially don't have modern technology to take their attention away in their daily lives, that they basically have quite a bit more time on their hands for training and hobbies. Say wha? Has this always been that way? I remember in 1.0 my guild was talking about WAR had better DPS than MNK and DRG. Was this changed or did they get it entirely wrong? Edit: Also sorta off topic here, but can you dye AF gear? MRD was pretty good as far as AoE dmg and maintaining multiple mobs. Because they are a tank class, they could take the hits. If a BLM ripped (as they love to do), then they don't last long at all...So I could see some validity to their argument but for the most part, they're DPS/OT tanks. I've never had them, as most people would want a BLM or two (or three!) instead.

I'd rather have them screw all this up than the actual launch...then again, there's no stopping anything going wrong at launch, either. I dunno. With SE, it's easy to blame them for poor customer service, but I feel like this side of SE is desperately trying to figure things out. There's no way I can picture Yoshi=P finding out about this, asking what's going on and being content with the answer and doing nothing...

I'm shooting for Akihiko from Persona 4 and possibly something from Pokemon (Trainer or Breeder). Girlfriend is still undecided on a P4 character, and unsure about Pokemon >.< We're both debating on whether or not to do a third or do a costume that was well recieved for the third day.

Texas, California, and Washington seem to be the most popular states I always hear. I've met maybe three people who gamed in Michigan in Everquest 2, and met one of them IRL; other than that, you never really hear much of Michigan from other players -.-;. Then again, without asking directly, it just never seems to come up, except in odd forums like these =P

15 minute walk? Oh damn...Looks like we'll be crashing the party!

Gah, tell me about it -.-; I guess I'll have to save some fast cash to pre-order from the UK, then sell off the games >.<

Yoshi P stated he was going to look into it, but lead off with straight marriage. I think it's more or less a double-edged sword: Bad publicity for not letting gay marriage in game (though it's currently the standard in gaming) and bad publicity and griefers for allowing it. There's been games where the players DEMANDED it and then the company got assaulted by all the people against it.

Legacy can redo their character completely at launch, but only once. I think to balance things out and give everyone a 'second chance' in case they end up not liking their character, they just made the a "Vet Reward". If I didn't have the Legacy appearance change, I'd be grabbing that up. I made a mistake when fine-tuning my Char originally, but I'm sure a Barber would be enough to suffice.

Very useful guide for any newbie starting on any server, as Bal and Gil both have their own griefers. Honestly it's the same in all servers, but from what I've found it's not too bad. Not to say you won't come across all these examples, but they do tend to leave you alone once in a while. I prefer /group chat right off the bat in high population areas and I suggest using it for the first month when you're around the cities, particularly around Aetherytes and such. The game is going to be so full, and people will be SWARMING, as they always have in Alpha/Beta, around these areas. I'd say after a month, not only does population go down, but people start dispersing and doing things. In 1.0 it was always busy around Ul'Dah's Mercantile area, but that's generally because there was nothing to do but LFG for three different primals or three different dungeons, depending on what you needed. With ARR, the Duty Finder makes it so you can be anywhere lfg, and not have to be in a central location to shout what group you're looking for. The trolls should be more out and about, doing things a bit more often. Or...I could be lieing =X. It's really hard to tell what they'll do, but never be discouraged by them!

I've never seen a RP community in any game debate or wonder the in-cannon nature of these appearance items. All games have them, they all have silly flavor text (because all items have flavor text, it's what we come to expect and know), it's usually sold on a RMT program the game company has and changes all appearance options-- never (normally) the race and gender changer (those were seperate items). In RP, it was hardly used. Most people were satisfied with their characters, but it was just another OOC tool in case something happened. Rarely RPed as part of a plot, it was just if people needed a reroll and used the appearance changer (or the race/gender/name changer) to make a new character and not start their EXP over. I'm not quite sure why the passive aggressive back and forth is needed over such an item. No one's going to abuse it. If they do, you know not to talk to them anymore, I guess? At the same time I cannot see how some of you are taking this item so seriously, but perhaps you have plans for it. But it's an item. Bickering over an item. >.> (Lady2Beetle, your use sounds pretty interesting, compared to everyone else here, so you're expluded =p)

Five Geek Social Fallacies: How They Effect RP
Moltove replied to Sarantali's topic in RP Discussion
this is pretty sweet. I'm unable to read all of it atm, but from what I've read it's pretty interesting. I've seen many examples in and out of RP, have been guilty of a few here and there, even. Nice work finding this and adding your own to it! -
Nice! I live and work in the Ypsilanti/Ann Arbor area, so Canton's a hop, skip and a jump away! Unfortunately, it's one of the last great things in Detroit (other than a lot of the monuments and hidden buildings...) But it looks like the Con really does well. My girlfriend has been there from the start and this year will be my first!

I like the idea as comic relief! >.> I mean, it would be entertaining to see you perform readings on RPers and non-RPers that are just off the wall, and if you could get any good at it, you could make them so bizarre, yet somewhat accurate. Or just be a complete nutter =P. Even better, be good at magics but terrible at readings...or anything like that-- but I just love comic relief... I'm sure plenty of people gave enough tips for you. personally, I love the idea and if you flesh it out, I'd love for my character to find you some time. Unfortunately, I just don't have anything constructive to add to help your cause though =/. Good luck!

Thanks, one of the few videos I haven't seen yet

While I forgot the numbers, I think that once you get to Garuda/Darklight dungeons, you wanted to aim for 400 in ACC, STR and PIE as a DRG. While from what I saw, they consolidated stats needed for classes (though still don't know what class uses what), so it will all depend on how many stats an individual class should spec for their main role, materia stat values, and the values "needed" to face end-game content. To clarify, while min/maxing is not everyone's cup of tea, if you are under where your points should be in a given stat (ACC especially in 1.0), you were next to useless. A DRG couldn't hit a giant rock in front of them if the rock demanded 400 ACC, even if the DRG was 350-380. In regular encounters and other Primals, it wasn't as much of a big deal; you could get your AF armor and get a decent weapon and be fine without a single materia affixed to our weapon or anything. I'm curious to see how things change, though! ^.^

I'm somewhat disappointed in this as well. THM have an ability (I think) that switches their attributes around (temporarily), so perhaps Arcanists will have a 'stance' that does something similar? Ah well. I dunno what to think. maybe it's that we have all these choices with classes, it's with Jobs that we have to actually buckle down a bit with? Perhaps Materia will let us get multiple gear sets to "spec" a certain way? If that's the case, maybe we should use attribute points for just HP/Mana/Defence, while we use Materia as our spell dmg/heal crit/ect. ect...

O hai! Soooo~ I just pre-ordered Pokemon Y at my local Gamestop, then came home to browse the interwebz, only to find out that THE UK GETS AN AWESOME PRE-ORDER BONUS!! And all I got was a cheap poster I would never hang in my room...like ever. I was wondering if there's any fellow Poke Nerds out there in the UK to help me out. While in the US they could just randomly drop a new bonus to us in minutes or in a month or not at all...I just want some pokeball game holder case things. Is there any way I could convince someone to sell 'em off to me if they pre-order? I'd even pay for shipping, at this point! Would there be an easier way to do this? I had a Gamestop rep say one of his customers bought SEVEN copies of Assassin's Creed for all the different bonuses (limited/legendary editions, different regions for all), and sold off what he didn't want, plus the games. I'm in the US, of course, so I wondered the sell-ability of PAL region games, too. I'm sorry, but I'm a glutton for collectors things...and Pokemon things -.-;

Server guidance for those new to the community

So much fuss over syntax -.-;
