*hook, line and sinker* Yeah, but you helped, and you're a valuable member of the community! Plus, you gotta rub it in the non-Legacy's faces! =P I keed, I keed. I'm still up in the air, myself. I'd rather have a familiar character name that's unique to me, and is mostly a one of a kind through all MMOs (as every MMO I played there has been only me on a toon named Moltove), but at the same time, my IRL name should be more meaningful, but there's a chance someone has it (though slim). Then again, who's going to read the credits, other than legacy members just to see their name up there? Hmm, but I do wanna take a screenshot and show it to my mom...>.>...yeah...she'll be proud.../sigh/. I dunno, I'm a greedy whore, though...I want it all! muahahaha!

Hmm... I think most Eorzeans don't just believe in one or a few of the twelve; I think if you believe that at least one exists, you automatically believe that all of the twelve (or rather, 13) and you follow all or but a few. Ishguard and a few others excluded, this seems to be the mentality I've seen most NPC's exhibit. So, Molt was weary of the Twelve at all. His family/lineage guardian deity is Menphina, the Lover, though Molt did not grow up following to closely as Love was not one of those things that he was granted past age 10+. Especially after his Ex-Wife left. blah blah blah, then Dalamud came ever closer, and Molt had a few philosophical moments with a friend. Nymeia and Thal became two focus points of these debates and Molt was left pondering the meaning of life, only a few months before the fall. "Everything happens for a reason" and "Death is inevitable, and not to be feared" were a few of Molt's new mantras before Dalamud hit. After the tragedy, and Molt made it through the perilous night, Molt realized that he would easily fall under as a follower of Oschon, as many would be that day after realizing their home would be destroyed and there would be very few places to go-- all would be left but to wander. He meditated on this fact for only a little bit before realizing that over time it became more and more true for him. So I guess Molt has adopted a sort of bleak, "It is what it is" outlook through Nymeia and Thal, and is closer to being an actual follower to Oschon. That and his nameday falls under Oschon, so go figure. So...I suppose Multiple will have to be my answer...I think.

Off the Record http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/blog/post/269 April 08, 2013 By: Fernehalwes !!! Ahem. Now that’s out of my system, it’s time to move on to some real updates (...or are they!? Okay... I’ll stop now). In addition to getting the game ready for the upcoming phase 3, it appears the development team is also preparing for another marketing blitz...and that means trailers...and that means we’re back in the recording studio! Lines for the English trailer were taken in Los Angeles, while those for the Japanese trailer were taken in our private studio here at Square Enix headquarters. I can only assume from all the bottled water, that this talented actress will be playing a drowning sahagin. Hmmm... going by normal MMO NM standards: Common Loot (guaranteed drops with other loot tables): Random Alchemical Ingredient Random Potion Uncommon Loot (One or the other guaranteed drop.) Named short sword: Lvl 45 HQ item. No magic properties. Sought for appearance weapon. Unique item tag, only one sword per character. Named dagger: Lvl 40 HQ item. No magic properties. Sought for appearance. Unique item tag. Rare Loot (better pitch a tent; you're going camping!): (melee users)Mask of Night: Lvl 50 item. ACC +, STR+, DEX+. Enchanted: Night Vision. (blind folk just get their vision restored to normal. No night vision) (magic users)Magicked Specs:Lvl 50 item. ACC+, INT+, MIND+. Enchanted: immunity to Blind effects and spells, grants near-20/20 vision (for us blind folk). Super Rare (Better just to log in and log out here for this camp!): Aetheryte Necklace: Enchanted: Grants the user the ability to teleport to or from this chunk of Aetheryte, but has an extremely long cast time and recharge. Also leaves you without anima (or mana, or something) upon arrival. Not really useful unless if stranded and item is left at home, or otherwise in a different unique circumstance, but it's an otherwise free teleport home. Item drops from your inventory if teleporting from it , too, btw >.> If going by FF Named mob: Gil, EXP. Not to much of either, to be fair.

Major, in-depth housing system like EQ2. If you're unfamiliar, check out google images or Youtube. First off, homes were in the city. There were certain zones that had different options, but there were basically about six different styles to them (and now so much more!). All you did was go up to a building, right click on the door and purchase it (though only one at first!). The home did not have an outside area, though, until players began playing with client files and were able to place things outside the building-- it wasn't much, though the additions you could make were spectacular. The house was an individual instance, so of course it did not infringe on the outside world. Which leads me to... Immense fan service for house items. Craftable, with recipes introduced in every patch, special holiday items that were given or earned could be placed into your home. This evolved into the cash shop where even more items were introduced. Then there was a few instances where house items dropped or collected (often in secret spots). This leads me to... Complete customizability. At first, in EQ2 it took an act of god to make your house look interesting. Then people realized "Oh, if I stack this on that, I can make this!" Or, "These wood tables blend together easily, I can make a platform or stage with this!" This later evolved into people messing with files in order to turn objects on the side, or suspend them in air, or place them better. Someone released software with an interface to do it a bit easier, as well. Check out this site to see an example, and to visit the main forum to see all the creations. The asian-ish panelings? Made by setting a bookcase, putting a portrait on the back of it, then removing the bookcase and placing it on the other side to repeat it. (more on The Soulfire Tavern below). There was contests on all the servers on who can make the best home, there were Norrathian Homeshows where players would go out and nominate others for a chance in the spotlight! And then, there were players who got real good at it and sold their interior design abilities to decorate homes for a modest fee. To me, this is huge. I've played many-a MMO only to find that the housing system allowed for just a 20x20 box of which you could put trophies or try to place items in a grid-like system, and waste so much space for nothing. Even then, you could rarely invite other people in, much less a group of people. But why would you...? With EQ2's system, the RP community was able to create their own taverns, make it look damn nice and provide an instance for RPers to RP without muggle interference. Soliloquy Tavern? Yeah, just think if that was an actual place you could go to and meet with friends in-game. Something not just text based, or even /ls based, but a 3d environment to get lost in. With your friends. Awesome. I mean, heck, even Non-RPers were going out of their way to decorate their home. It was like a status item. --- More interactive stuffs. I love the idea that was said about leaning on rails, as that would be awesome. We could use some /drink emotes for when we're tavern RPing it up. I like the whole idea of having more emotes in general, or different variations of the same ones, particularly for sitting. Speaking of sit, it would be nice to have actions while sitting. When I play an MMO, I often think of Sword Art Online and the .HACK// series and how the players were basically able to replicate any movement our real-life counterparts could. I mean, minus the killer AI's and such, those environments are paradise to me. Largly unreplicatble for the most part, but the closer we can push devs from the standard /dance emotes, the closer we can get to our brains being locked into a microwave helmet err...fully in-depth worlds. --- Let's see... Player-written books was ingenious in EQ2. There were craftable books, with all kinds of bindings to them. They could be placed in homes, too! The biggest regret I I felt before leaving EQ2 was that they didn't implement notes. Like, there were plenty of interactive pieces of paper, posters and pages of books in the game, then they made some as house items. But it would have been so awesome to see some as player-written 'books'. When I say player written, I mean, you buy or craft a book, you inspect it and two pages come on screen. You type what you want on there (we did rosters, person to person notes, character journals, EVERYTHING), save it and put it up on the shelf for later, lay it out (especially if it was an open book) for others to read, or just sell your characters life story on the broker. There were a lot of book collectors that bought ALL copies of books. Oh yeah, you can also copy books too, duh. --- Let's talk about vanity. This is so paramount to RP that I can't stand that SE will have this system restricted (at least at first, we'll see if we can convince them down the road to lift some of those). No matter the class I play, I want to look a certain way. I want to dual-wield daggers while I have a sword and board, or have a wand and a spell shield when obviously my two-handed staff is superior. I also want to look good. I hate mismatched armor so much, and I hate subligars even more. A dye system to add on to this would be awesome, as well! -- It's the small stuff that adds up to so much of our pleasure out of this game. I love raiding, and I love finding the best loot, but I also love sitting at home, or sitting in a tavern somewhere and chatting with friends. There is just so much creativity to be had, and so much potential, but usually Devs leave the RPers and focus on end-game content. /endexcitementrant

I've had a lot of concepts for Molt, actually. Mainly though, I was going to have him be an Assassin. Realizing that a scout class wasn't in the game at all, I settled for Pugilist, a class I was never familiar to RP with. After all, all my Moltoves in every game were a Thief/Assassin or a scout of some type. So, I compromised a bit. Even well into 1.0 I had a hard time; it was either pretend he's a thief, be a lancer, or be some kind of healer. I allowed myself to take Molt and start small, and let him progress through what seemed to make sense. I ended up going Pug as a main, hidden class, with Lnc as a new adventuring class. His job (what he did all day) would be Alchemist, though and I gave him minor healing abilities (though magic is not a strong suite. With hints of Thief class in the future, I speculated what I should do with Molt. Right on the spot I decided Molt was going to stay through the 5 years to grow and better himself in whatever he chooses. I somehow came to the conclusion that Molt would be a merchant and thief combo. I also decided that after 5 or so years (or the begining of ARR), I wanted Molt to start...developing again and find interest into his adventurer class, with merchantile on the side. But I have yet to decide what Molt will ultimately be, specifically when it comes to Jobs. Will there be an Assassin class? Will it be a job of Thief, or will Ninja take that place? Or will I let him stay and be Thief/Merchant? I don't know enough about FFXI (which is what this game is SO.HEAVILY.BASED.ON. -.-; ) to know where Assassin's draw their power, but I thought it would be interesting if Assassins (or a class that I can make on my own) could draw from the void...or umbral magics to embrace skills like stealth and shadow abilities. As it stands, though, Molt will be Thief/Merchant combo. Rather plain, but the two can come hand in hand. That and his skills in Alchemy help, too-- poison laden weapons or even possible 'bombs', ability to possibly talk his way out of trouble, pickpocketing, or when all else fails--poke things to death.

Gyn Abania, which is the plains between Grdania and Ala Mhigo. Specifically, he was born and raised (until school age) right on the Velodyma River (I think those are the correct spelling).
-
Ul'Dah For Molt. He has a permit to live there (which wasn't cheap!) but after spending...ohhhhh, about nigh on 10+ years there, he's called it home. Gridania seems to be his most favorite, but it's more like a secret home. He does not like going there anymore, as every time he has moved there something bad has happened and he is forced back to Ul'Dah. Limsa is Molt's least favorite. He would rather be in Garlean-infested Ala Mhigo or bitter-cold Ishguard than Limsa. He hates fish, is not a fan of the political structure and in general doesn't like hights. Since it's located by water, it sort of reminds him of his old home, and that doesn't let him sit right, either. Also, the pirates all smell funny.

Not to be a Debbie Downer by posting these, but SE is where we're all investing in right now, so I thought to share the word of what's up. Square Enix Games Sell Strong But Fail to Hit Targets American sales have also been revealed to be weaker than those in Europe. by Luke Karmali March 26, 2013 Square Enix has revealed that despite selling well, Tomb Raider, Hitman: Absolution and Sleeping Dogs all failed to hit the company's internal sales expectations. As part of its latest financial report, it was revealed that Tomb Raider has managed to ship 3.4 million copies, while Hitman: Absolution sold 3.6 million units and Sleeping Dogs has sold 1.75 million. The above numbers, which only include retail sales of the game as opposed to digital downloads, means that each of the titles has failed to move as many copies as the company was predicting. As Steam sales weren't included though and given the fact that the company has had a number of digital sales on its titles recently, the actual number of games shipped may be considerably higher. How many of each game Square Enix was expecting to sell isn't mentioned in the report, though last September it was revealed the company was hoping to move 14.9 million discs in the six months ending March 2013. Seeing as only 8.75 million retail games have been sold, this could largely explain the company's financial forecast revision from this morning, which reveals it now expects to make an "extraordinary loss". What's more interesting though is the fact that the company is claiming "ineffective" sales in North America are largely responsible, as the continent shipped just two thirds of the number of discs sold in Europe. Square Enix President Yoichi Wada Steps Down It comes as part of the company's financial forecast revisions, which now predict "extraordinary loss". by Luke Karmal March 26, 2013 The president and representative director of Square Enix, Yoichi Wada, is stepping down from his position following the company revising its financial forecast. Wada's resignation is expected to come into effect from June, at which point Yosuke Matsuda, who joined the company in 2001, will replace him. The move comes as part of a financial revision for the company, in which it's revealed that Square Enix now "expects to incur extraordinary loss in the settlement of the accounts for its fiscal year ending March 31, 2013." While the company had been predicting net income losses of ¥3.5 billion, this has now been revised to ¥13 billion following a decline in Western retail and digital sales. The report explains the revision comes, "due to slow sales of major console game titles in North American and European markets. The Company is also experiencing sluggish performance of its arcade machine business. "In addition to these factors, the Company expects to incur extraordinary loss about loss from restructuring in the settlement of the account for its fiscal year ending March 31, 2013." Wada joined Square in April 2000 and rose to the rank of CEO in December of that year. When Square merged with Enix, he took up the title of president and representative director of the new company and oversaw the acquisitions of both Taito and Eidos Interactive. Luke Karmali is IGN's UK Editorial Assistant. You too can revel in mediocrity by following him on IGN and on Twitter.

So...this took longer than I'd like to admit, but it's a rough start to conforming to the new naming conventions to Elezen. I also gave reason to why Molt has the name he has now, which is completely unfrench. Basically, Agathelle and Marcaux were one of VERY few Duskwight/Wildwood Elezens that broke the barrier of their clans. Admittingly, they got a little hippy with their child(ren)'s surname, which is a combination of their own, to help celebrate their unity. Tomaux (name pending), will not have had as much luck finding a nice Duskwight to settle down with to support his parent's ideals, but instead mixed his name with Valerie's, in a loose fashion, to pass down to Molt to "Mix whatever you want-- just be happy" and keep similar ideals.

Rated M for Marvelous March 19, 2013 Greetings! Fernehalwes here again. I woke up this morning all ready to unearth a new nugget of developmental gold...but a quick spin around SQEX headquarters turned up a whole lot of nada. I guess that’s what I get for coming in on the vernal equinox. (You’ve got to love Japan and their seemingly random national holidays. Who would have thought that the tilt of the Earth’s axis would warrant a day at home eating chicken pot pies?) Anyway, I headed back to my desk to try and come up with something better than my “official dev team restroom tour” idea, and booted up the latest internal version of ARR. But when I headed out into the Twelveswood, I noticed something amiss. Was it the color of the trees? Or maybe the quality of the grass? Maybe it was the BGM? Or...maybe it was that all the NPCs (monsters included) had been transformed into Midlander males sporting naught but their unmentionables. Yeah. That was it. Wait, wha? Yesterday: A party of goblin thugs sitting around a campfire trading stories while sprites dance cheerfully around a bubbling brook. Today: Bow-chicky-bow-bow. http://rss.finalfantasyxiv.com/jp/blog/jp/JP20130320_2.jpg[/img] “But officer, his display name distinctly stated he was a level 28 water sprite! Honest!” http://rss.finalfantasyxiv.com/jp/blog/jp/JP20130320_1.jpg[/img] What is this I don’t even... http://rss.finalfantasyxiv.com/jp/blog/jp/JP20130320_3.jpg[/img] I’m looking forward to all the FFXIV memes this will generate on the Lodestone forums. Fernehalwes

Molt has been in the middle-class since he was born. When he was a child, he was supported by working parents. Though they originally lived just outside the Twelveswood in a small village, they still lived comfortably, though minimally, until their move to Gridania. In Molt's teens, he was on his own, under a well-off merchant's support, though most of what Molt needed other than food and a home was out of Molt's expense, which he paid with his winnings in the Ul'Dah underground. When Molt left all that, he still had quite a comfortable living, attempting to settle back in Gridania with a lover. When things got tense and money began to run low, he began to fight again to replenish his funds, and eventually bought a permit to live in Ul'Dah again, which brought his funds considerably low, since those permits are quite expensive. When Molt found himself alone, he moved to Ul'dah permanently and maintained a job at the Phrontistery, living in an inn room, hoping one day to save enough money to buy a real home. Come ARR, he lost a lot of money. Molt was smart, in that he withdrew all the Gil he could physically, safely carry in a pouch before Meteor came in and messed things up, taking out (or at least screwing with) the Ul'Dahn banks. Not that what he had under his account was much more than enough to buy groceries, rent, and a few supplies here and there. 5 years later, and (tentatively) Molt makes a name for himself as a traveling merchant, specializing in unique weapons and materia. Selling these products has certainly brought in Gil, though only to pay off a few loans to start his business and fix the parts in his life Dalamud shattered. Come the launch of ARR, Molt will be almost loan free and starting somewhat fresh, though still comfortable. I translate that into: I was always broke in 1.0, and am taking with me 40k Gil to ARR, which will then be 4k. I figure the bank system (if one were to be in place lore-wise) would be all kinds of messed up, and the economy would be in the dump, so the net worth of Gil had been adjusted. In addition, the relative wealth that Molt has is greater than what I actually have. Come ARR launch, I will be able to give myself a clean slate, in a way, due to these things to bring Molt's wealth down a bit to match RL Gil, and allow me to explore different avenues to make money. And stuff. To me, middle class has always been something I grew up with. Our house was always a two-person income, and my parents maintained the house, groceries, kids etc. well enough and had a little extra come in to save, even if I, as a child, ended up having surprise expenses (hurray ER visits and field trip permission slips). It's only recently, when I've been living on my own, when I realized that I'm in the lower-class range. For a while, I was working a dollar above minimum wage, and had just enough money to support myself, though if I was screwed on hours or if something on my car broke down, then I was surely to be late on rent. Even with my new job as a delivery guy (which ranges from $5.50 an hour on horrid, slow day shifts to $15+ an hour on really good nights), I find it a little easier but I guess I'm still lower class. It's interesting to take a step back and realize the different definitions of the class system and compare it to others, then compare it to what a person actually needs to support themselves, then realize what's left over. And then...there's debt, lol.

ha ha, nice! There was once, not too long ago where I had a dream with the 1.0 HUD in my view and I was going about my business in the game. Then there was one night when I couldn't sleep too well (g/f hogging the bed -.-; ) and had the Elezen and Hyur ARR concept art in my head, with YoshiP's voice in the background (like I was waiting for a LIVE Letter to start), but it kept looping because I kept waking back up and falling asleep repeatedly. And theeennn...Back when I played EQ2 I had a dream where again I had the HUD and all my hotbars and was raiding on my Assassin. I was raiding as much of a part-time job then, though on my Fury, usually until midnight and usually had to work Monday through Friday at 4am, so that could have been the cause =P

"Dial 'M' for Madness" http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/blog/post/244 --------------------------------------------------------- Hey guys. Fernehalwes here... As you can tell by the ellipses, I’m feeling kind of down... See, there they are again. Why so blue, you ask? Well, it’s my trusty partner-in-crime, Project Manager M. Ever since installing the Beta Version, she’s been hooked on synthesis. It’s all she ever does anymore. I suppose that’s a testament to the new crafting interface, but still... Day after day, tanning this... Tawing that... And it always culminates in that same outburst of exuberance...even after the 479th circle of hard leather... Sometimes I feel like a little mammet minion waiting patiently for his single-minded master to guide him off on some daring adventure to uncover forbidden screenshots. And waiting... And waiting... And waiting... And waiting... And...! Waiting... Hmm...I've been reflecting: My first porn name is Snot Stellwagon, but it could technically be Meowser Stellwagon. Then there's Sparky Stellwagon. Then Skittles Crestview Then Frick and Frack Billmyer (Twins!~) And finally George Billmyer (Probably a porno director >.>) I can't wait until I get a pet of MY own, and where I'll be then. I was thinking of naming the cat I want to adopt as soon as I get my own place Dave Meowthews...>.>
