1. Anyone participating in Youmacon in Detroit this November? Just looking for some folk to meet up/get incredibly smashed in cosplay with! Come join my girlfriend and I as we celebrate the last great thing in Detroit before the bankruptcy goes through!
2. yup! As far as I know, this is all correct, but keep in mind , too that they're planning on a barber system. I don't know the limitations on it, but I'm assuming it's just har and some facial features. Also, last I heard, 1.0 characters can get a name change, as well.
3. Fair enough, LeCard. I was just thinking the same, but I like your style better. Summoner is HoT? hot damn...that's my heal style if I ever had one. . . Well, as far as appearance goes, in 1.0 our Job class armor was a good start for 'end game' content as you ran more difficult dungeons to get stuff like Darksteel armor and such. It got to a point where af was pretty easy to get, so you judged people in a pug group by what they wore-- if it was AF armor, they were new, if they wore mix-matched armor with materia, then they knew what they were doing. In ARR, I noticed that the relic armor's stats were improved, but you still can't affix materia onto it, so I don't know how long they'll be good for. After the first or second major patch, they'll be introducing a vanity system to pretty much fix the mix/match issue. I personally have grown tired of the Job armors and cannot await new sets, like the lvl 20 armor in the Character Creation Benchmark! But just know that a lot of classes share the same armor types, so class has a limited effect on what looks good with what.
4. I'm ashamed to say that I didn't get far as well. It got pretty discouraging and I had to quit for a few months with a lvl 50 DRG in AF armor, but no primal weapon. It was only my last few months before the game's close when I got my PUG to 45. The times during which I was playing seemed awfully slow. I just couldn't effectively findgroups, was a bit new to the RPC and just couldn't stand the frustrating aspects of the UI and gameplay. Yet I don't regret it ^.^
5. You pretty much want Thief-- the real best class! (oh wait, it's not out yet...*sigh*) I know what you mean by how overwhelming things are. But I would strongly suggest trying out some of these classes for yourself. For the most part, though, they're pretty straight forward (minus Arcanistses)-- GLD - Tank (sword and board tank) [crusader/guardian archtype] MAR - OT/Melee DPS (Two hander tank) [beserker archtype] PUG - Melee DPS (Combos/situational?) [scout archtype] LNC - Melee DPS (Spike dmg?) ARC - Range DPS [Ranger archtype] THM - Magic DPS [mage/warlock archtype] CNJ Magic healer [Cleric Archtype] Arcanists Magic DPS/support [Possibly typical buff mage (illusionist) archtype with some heals] I forget what LNC's archtype would be in a stereotypical MMO, but it's more or less just straight damage with /maybe/ a slight increase in range (hardly noticable to me, really). Jobs are (as of right now, and not including Summoner/Scholars) so far just more 'powerful' versions of their respective class. Gladiators grow up to be Paladins, Lancers to Dragoons, Archers to Bards, ect.... At lvl 40+ you can do a Job quest to get a stone to "apply" the job to your class. At any time you can take it off and revert to being a regular class. The difference between a class and a job is 5 Job-only abilities, relic armor, and you can't use as many abilities from other classes when you have a job equipped. Arcanists break the mold-- they have two potential jobs to go into, but it's still just their own gig, for the most part. Like in all jobs, you'll need a secondary class leveled up to start the quest to get a job, but I'm guessing for scholar it's 40 Arcanist, 15 cnj and summoner is 40 arcanist, 15 thm.
6. Even after your apology, I still must urge to really keeping these emotions OOC, whether you're ICly talking to a knight, mage, or a flat-out thief-- your character doesn't know their biz, and depending on your character's qualities, could be inclined to talk with them in a friendly manner. The only time when your character would know a thief would be if they're being obvious, or sketchy. Generally that's enough for your character to know to back off, or depending on motifs, speak up. As important it is to...erm...let's say avoid the tell-tale signs of a RP trap (which could mean different things to different people, as we all have our pet peeves in RP), OP you came out pretty strong hitting the Thief community. While I've not been able to RP (or play at all -.-; ) with the influx of new players, it's not common to come across the disrespect and god modding that could be possible. That said I've not come across it in 1.0 or in the Beta yet, and I don't forsee coming across it to much in ARR. When it happens, I'll give them a friendly suggestion and walk it off. But to alienate all Thieves like that? That's some strong stuff. Don't bring it in game. Your character should have his or her own reasons for liking/disliking those types of characters. But be careful, as the more a character persecutes an archetype or a set of other characters, and especially on a an original post like that, people are going to wonder if it's IC anymore and more OOC. I completely agree with consistency, but you won't know it until you actually RP with someone. I dunno anything about this Locke comparison stuff, but it is what it is. People are weird. I've heard one player say he wants to look like Sephiroth but have the personality of Cloud. Do you know how much Emo-locity that is? The level of emo would be too dayum high! And I dunno why we're going into so much philosophical detail about thieves-- it's yet another role to play. Of course it's not morally right in RL, we all know this. But as it's been said, there's different types and how they go about it. But even if there's a character who steals for his own gain, it could still be interesting RP! How is it that the murderous Warriors types that people are playing don't get half this much scrutiny from people? -.-; I say, as long as the person makes their character interesting IC, then stick with them. If you don't care for it, you can choose to not RP with them again.
7. This is delightful! I had a much lower score on the first benchmark, and even on the first time I ran this, until I read that SLI was configured for it-- so I turned it on and got this result ^^ Even back in the earlier phases of Beta, the game ran pretty smooth on my system with just the one video card. I noticed a small bit of lag in the Aetheryte plaza, but that's to be expected. I think the benchmark literally pushes your rig to the limits of what this game can offer, but if there are those worried just about their average game session (goofing off in a city, traveling to non-populated areas), the score could be a little low for your actual, functional use and you may not experience so much lag.
8. Not quite digging the Fairy Vibe, but still looks interesting. At first I was hoping it would be along the lines of the other Job's summons, but I suppose a different job would require a different type of summon-- just certainly wasn't expecting fairies. But again, still pretty neat, and they're certainly gorgeous! Would be great if you could customize your fairies...
9. soo, I took a comfortable vacation, so apologies for the late reply, but... Welcome back! About time, I'd say. You pretty much owe me some RP =P Shame to hear about others unlikely to return, but stuff happens =/
10. Dave Meowthews...maybe Will Feral?
11. Soooo... Duskwights and Wildwood Elezen are mostly at each other's throats. It's been a long standing issue, and hence why they are separate factions. Elezen and Hyur don't naturally get along as well, as Elezen claim that the Hyur immigrated in and took all the land. As far as Molt's concerned, he couldn't care less about these differences, though if he sees a Duskwight, he'll try to make them impossibly uncomfortable, just to get a negative reaction. He can't possibly understand why there is such a feud between the clans and was born under a "free love" family, but get's mad if others can't accept such a philosophy.
12. I had Molt pick up/try quite a few instruments during the 5 year period until ARR. He mostly disliked all but the lute and a type of fiddle, but since he wasn't terribly musically inclined (but majorly appreciative of it), I thought about keeping only one instrument. He would be more of a one-hit-wonder than a true musician at this point, for sure. He has a few songs, but not much and cannot perform something for an accompaniment. His voice isn't too bad. I've been going over my music collection and keeping a keen ear out for the right voice but haven't nailed it down quite yet. He does sing when traveling, though that's about it. (Unless if he's drunk...). I do feel like that since we're RPing in a sort of 'time' where we don't have to rely so much on anything but ourselves, we as players technically have ample time and opportunity to actually pick up stuff like this. You know, a little bit of fishing, instruments and other hobbies...
13. Wow, I missed a lot when I skipped last weekend's playtest >.< Hopefully, when playing our 1.0 characters a second narrative will enlighten us. Is this hazy memory really that much a rampant problem, though? Yikes!
14. after a long break from everything (everything but work), I would be happy to hop in. I missed the Beta Weekend last time, so I hope I can catch up!
15. Cat Scratch Fever April 24, 2013 By Fernehalwes http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/blog/post/289 Hello! Fernehalwes back again, and this time I've spelled my name correctly. (Why “Fernehalwes” isn't included in all spell-checkers, I will never know.) This weekend, FINAL FANTASY XIV and Yoshi-P will be making an appearance at Niconico Chokaigi 2 being held at the Makuhari Messe convention hall near Tokyo. To kick things off, Tuesday, FFXIV participated in the “Business Booth Presentation Battle” where we went head-to-head with several other big companies in a competition to win approximately 10,000,000 yen of free ad space on Niconico Douga. Bet you can’t guess who in that sea of suits was representing ARR. http://rss.finalfantasyxiv.com/jp/blog/jp/JP20130425_1.jpg[/img] Unfortunately, the power of the paw was not enough to get us beyond the semi-finals, but it was a valiant effort nonetheless. And...at least we got some great pics like this one: http://rss.finalfantasyxiv.com/jp/blog/jp/JP20130425_2.jpg[/img] /meow! Now on a completely different note, ‘M’ and I finally received our prize for hitting the Square Enix Members Ultimate tier this year, and it is the pinnacle of awesome-sauce (if such sauce could have a pinnacle). http://rss.finalfantasyxiv.com/jp/blog/jp/JP20130425_3.jpg[/img] People told us we were crazy, but I knew buying twenty copies of XIII-2 would pay off! Kuplu Kopo approves. See you all this weekend! Fernehalwes
16. I just made an account this morning, though I'm having a bit of trouble with it. I'll have to look deeper into it-- Might be a good place for both this /and/ a regular journal, but I'm not 100%. What I'm concerned about is keeping the main RP quest entries open and accessable. While I like the idea of having them organized by time, I feel like depending on how many quests you would have up, some would get archived, and in general it wouldn't be too easy for another usuer to peruse for interactive quests-- if that makes any lick of sense >.> Fair enough. The aspect of letting others know or inclining them to participate may be a bit off-putting (as it's less random) But I hope to see usage even if you don't want others to "run-in" to your character, as it makes for an interesting side-journal. We'll see if it takes hold at all. At the very least for me, it does help me keep track of Molt's goals and things he has going on, after all. But I have to write that stuff down-- terrible memory >.< That's probably the hardest part I'll have as well >.<
17. As a continuation of my previous post here. So upon reflection of a multitude of things, I think I figured something out. I wanted to create a quest journal, similar to in game journals, that are strictly for RP quest arcs. I thought about keeping a nice and tidy .doc file, but then thought "why not make it public?". So I checked out the Tumblrs in the above thread to see what the layout was like and if it generally fit my tastes. Unfortunately, it just wasn't what I was looking for (quite yet, in my inexperienced state), so I thought about making an intuitive social media platform that could potentially be opened up to ALL RPers across the wide range of MMOs, of whom other players could view your character's entries and somehow get tips to get involved. There would be character lists on the entry for those involved (and then subsequently removed if need-be). The possibility was endless. Alas, it was too ambitious, until I can get my hands on a web programmer working for free. I considered the Wiki, but with concerns of keeping the entire Wiki uncluttered vs. character pages uncluttered, I was at a loss...until I realized the Discussion Page on our character profiles can be utilized. I had been using mine for story notes, ingredients and other stuff until I just realized /that/ should be on a .doc file. What am I talking about, you say? A public quest journal. What you do is you list your character's current RP quests-- Going after/finding story antagonists, finding lost family and friends, mending broken weapons, going shopping for an exclusive item-- ANYTHING could be used for your character to set up quests. As you all know, a lot of our 'quests' will merge , morph and change as we progress with or without others help. By putting up quest entries, you can add an nteractive or nfluence tag on the entry to signal other players to know your character (whether he/she knows it or not) may need help or is generally influenced on certain subjects and courses of action through more interactions with more players. Though, it is important to either be somewhat vague or to provide miniscule hints for your character on an entry, possibly stating, "Molt can be found sometimes talking about the subject in Soliloquy Tavern and is on the fence on what exactly to do next." or "Molt, as a traveling merchant and can easily be found in any city-state depending on his travel schedule (PM for more info/schedule run-in)." This last notion does prove problematic. The chances of godmodding could raise, but I think a little common sense can fix this. We are very open on divulging our character's backstory, yet more often than not it's usually STRICTLY private and would not ever be known. Considering this, we still want to tell the story-- we post up Wikis and we drop hints on our characters for others to inquire about. It's nearly the same concept: We have our CURRENT and DEVELOPING story posted, and we drop hints as to pick up others to help us fulfill tasks, get opinions or just generally inform. The Quest Journal can be divided into a few categories: Main Story Arcs-- These are your character's bread and butter. These often tie into a backstory that you've set up, and anything currently posted under here offers status updates and possible leads on where your character will be going from there. (THIS DOES NOT MEAN THINGS CAN'T CHANGE! Thus, you simply update accordingly!). These quests should normally be limited in player assistance, aside from RP generated in the past (1.0) with others, or if your character is at a stand-still and needs something to progress (perhaps another player or what another player could make or own--or just knows!) Side Quests-- These quests arein a way not as important, and can range a bit wider to simple tasks that your character needs to get done, often times in order to advance in a Main Story Arc. Broken weapon? Need something enchanted? Need to train? This is possibly the spot to post the entry under. Public Quests-- These are quests that you may be offering openly to other players. Again, finding something and requesting assistance, getting something fixed; as long as the request is more or less looking for more players to assist, then it would go here. Molt, as a merchant, sells basic supplies and weapons for adventurers, and while it's not strictly a "quest" to offer his services out to others, it does announce to anyone who's interested that he offers this service. Others could do mercenary entries, craft entries, you name it! If you talk to a player in-game and if it's established you do something for this person (just like an NPC), you can copy and paste the entry to your own Shared Quests section (and link to it) or into a Completed Quest section. Shared Quests-- As touched on before, Shared quests would most likely what you are currently tackling with others. Propositioned or offered to help someone? Take that entry down and copy it here, create a link in the title to the original entry and you're good to go! Completed Quests-- For when you complete your quests and move on, you can stuff the entries here, most likely with the title and a spoiler tag. Entries with special notifications to players interested can be tagged (as mentioned above) and as long as you set a general tag legend at the top (or just explain at the bottom of the entry) players will know what quests you're looking for RP with. Think of it as like a freakishly mutated "Looking for RP" section on steroids, that likes to actually network. You can create a simple line on your main character page, more or less saying to check out the page and link to it. You can make links to specific quests in your backstory or other part of the Wiki to link directly to the quest (not just to the entire journal page, but to the actual /entry/). There's so much possibilities with this. Please check out Molt's Work in Progress Public Quest Journal to get a better idea and tell me what you think and if it has any potential widespread use. If it doesn't, then FUC I'll just use it on my lonesome =X For the record, though, I've been thinking of every excuse on why not to do this, but I keep finding simple workarounds for it >.> TL;DR? FU!! Go to Molt's Journal and see if you want to use this clever device for inter-RP Awesomeness. And sorry this bitch is long. Been a day. I'll disable my signature for you, you lazy jerk.
18. Looks like they Both arE squaTting As far as what I can see. Would be nice to see different /sit commands in general, more so separate ones for each clan. But then I'd change my clan just because a Duskwight might sit cooler than a Wildwood (They're the Dark Elves, after all--the cool kids!) =P.
19. I'll be updating my own stream eventually...things got pretty tight by the end of it and I had to stop playing games for a while and focus on work and school. Now that school's just about closed for the summer, I'll have quite a bit more time. I'd like to go back to playing other games not FFXIV related but with People Having A Silly timE with That one REEally BEauTiful gAme, I'm not sure how much I can devote to other games. But once open beta comes, I'll at least be able to stream FFXIV...but then...everyone else will be playing, so why? That and I'd love to get a capture card to stream my Xbox. I've been playing GTAIV here and there and while I don't do anything magnificent, I do just like to drive around and explore. I've been looking at my game shelf lately...Assassin's Creed Revelations untouched because I want 100% in Brotherhood before I continue...Assassin's Creed 3 still sealed...CoD:BO2 still sealed...bunch of other games unfinished >.<. Ugh! And I need to get Skyrim for the PC! /That/ would be worth to stream...
20. So, I was thinkin'... All the Tumblrs linked here have the same, or similar navigation buttons. Can those be customized? I guess what I'm looking for is probably...ideally the main site with character journal entries, then a few things on the side, such as Side Quests, Art, Achievements and a few other things that probably need their own customization as well. The Side Quest section will be a list of 'quests' Molt is on. They range from small things that he's currently striving for, to larger things involved with other people, to an even larger main plot for his own story line. Then, I'd like to have a way of showing or listing quests that other RPers can either help him with or take on a quest of his own. It wouldn't be far from the in-game quest journal in theory. There's a lot of creativity behind it and especially for those interested in taking on his own created side quests (Which could be striking a deal with him, making him armor/weapon, adventuring with him randomly--ANYTHING) and it would provide a hint on how to more or less get your character at the right place and the right time to initiate it. Each 'journal entry' would have to be it's own post, but the problem I could see with Tumblr is that it seems a little...'fixed', if that makes sense. I wouldn't be able to move around the entries (as it would be one after another, straight down). Then there's Art, which would be straightforward-- screenshots and drawn arts of Molt and stuff. The layout doesn't need to be as picky, but a gallery rather than posts straight down would be nice. Achievements was an idea I got to just put up unique things Molt has done in his RP or in his history. It would be modled after Xbox achievements, with a mostly witty title and the actual description underneath. Things like, "Just One Drink Can't Hurt-- Sit down at a RP Tavern for the first time in your FFXIV RP career", or "Stick 'Em with the Pointy End-- Become proficient with the one-handed sword". It would actually be pretty cool to come up with a bunch of these and have a main site that players can have a database of their achievements...if that makes sense. I just thought about all this upon reflection of not wanting to bloat my wiki. No one wants to read one looooooooooooooooooooooooong (see, you skipped all those o's and went right here!) wiki page, but people seem content on traversing multiple sites if it's unique and intuitive enough. I mean, the Tumblrs themselves are a great example. Except I'm not quite sure I could get a Tumblr to work with me quite the way I'd want it. I'll have to test it out. Heck, if there was just a website dedicated to this all this, or if I was good with any code, that would be awesome. Every user site would have personal entries for themselves (for their character to do mostly if not all on their own), and a list of entries for public-assisted quests along with a clue on how to get your character involved by 'accident'. It's not organized by date or order of entry posted, but can be sorted by Main, Side, and Public. When RP is made in game, at the end of the night or the next day, the user would update any quests, and other users involved in the RP (if it was an event or part of a story arc) could add themselves to the entry, and they would get updates on it. You can see who's involved in the story, see the actual written updates you've been posting on that particular story involving your character and reflect on the path that task, or quest, has gone. Holy crap I need to patent this and find a web designer STAT!
21. Molt is charitable in his own special way-- I'd be down for that. As a fallback, he's rather kind...well, until crossed. /sighs Exceptions, exceptions
22. Ah, never noticed that. Hmm...They're not items (merely part of the animation, I'd wager), but I guess it's an improvement and certainly solidifies that there are plenty of instruments in Eorzea and Bards can and do utilize them, in a way.
23. I would check out the abilities of Bards in other games. usually the name and description says it all, though sometimes it's just a song name. Then again, if you know the context of how their used, all the more better. Offensively speaking, Bards have been an AoEish type class in such a regard, used to disorient and demoralize enemies. So more or less stat changes, but to an AoE effect. There's of course damaging spells, but it would be harder to convey. But you have to remember that Bardsong is like magic and magic can do /anything/. You may not be able to damage directly with bardsong, but you can torture an enemy with an ear-piercing song or noise, deafening them. If it's...say an Aria of Darkness or something, Blindness can work. You can calm/mesmerize...even charm enemies with song. OR be blunt and just the music surrounding them can cause them immense pain, as if a thousand widows sing a Dirge for their lost love,as though your lips are the ones directing and singing for them. Such strong sorrow can overload and cause physical pain to an enemy, making him writhe in pain and anguish, begging for the songs to stop. On the other side, helping those around you is all about morality. Singing jaunts and epic verses get your groups morale high, and the bardsong can amplify that not only mentally but physically. A certain song could not only make their weapons swing more swift, but their feet may be just as swift as their blades, allowing them to travel fast. I think the best part of playing a bard is the creativity that the RPer can actually put into it. Bardsong is so open-ended, YOU can create the song, the lyrics (if you so choose), the beat, rythm and most importantly, the effect such a song can have by those who hear it--or even those who are meant to hear it. I would recommend Youtubing and Wiki-ing Bard abilities for Everquest 1/2, Vanguaard and whatever else game you can find. The full descriptions can show you an example of the effects along with name use, while Youtube can get you familiar with visuals and sounds if not more. I also recommend finding a pocket music dictionary that has all musical terms defined. I have one from high school (and it's sorta old) that I wouldn't mind sending to you but...it would take forever and you'd probably find a free one online or a website with a lot of the terms defined. Terms usually have Latin or Italian origins, though it certainly does not exclude any other Euro areas. Also consider having a musical instrument. Your bard's voice can be the source of power, while the instrument can amplify it, and if you have many instruments that you carry (mandolin on the back, flute around the neck, hand drum on the belt) you can experiment with what effects they have on a song, or what power they draw out the best. Or perhaps if they even work at all with certain songs. Everquest 1 had many weapon varieties and you had to actually make macros in order to quickly switch between them in order to use them effectively, but I think they phased that out mostly. Also, EQ1 also had Bards do fantastic things, like levitate (useful for traversing fast around big cliffs and hills--or finding ways to get stuck in the guild hall chandelier >.>). A downside was that a song lasted 4-10 seconds, and you either had to manually cycle through up to four songs continuously (until macros and /autoplay came about) There's so much potential! The choice is ultimately yours to make, but I guarantee you can find something that can fit any character's archetype. Oh yeah, there's the whole lore thing...Ehh, current Bards have offensive and defensive songs, so I would imagine you still get quite the freedom. As far as instruments go...the relic weapon has a harp on it, if that's any indicator that perhaps an instrument can amplify the Bardsong, but it could very well be a decoration. Unfortunately, SE declined the idea of making instruments I do believe, and the Bard in An End of an Era doesn't really sing, just raises her hand, sooo... There's not much support for the actual Bard (as it's meant to be) in game, but...I guess that's where RP comes in. Just make it fair-- if an opposing character breaks an instrument, make it harder for your own to make song. Likewise, if she just sings, then find an eqivilant weakness that balances your character, and/or don't have really powerful spells. Charming/Mezzing effects or anything paralytic seems like a touchy subject to RPers, and it seems no matter what OOC tensions rise between combatants. there's no doubt about it, so give heads up and agree on things in a OOC /tell to agree on how to fight in a fair way. But in all honestly, everyone's OP, especially magic types, and the more magic and creative you get the harder it is to balance things. I know that's not your main intention, but it's a heads up and a warning for just in case.
24. *puts a foot in the door* Not to side with anyone, but I never really noticed how bad the disorganized Wiki was until I pawed through it quite a bit the other day. Yikes. I'm sort of in favor for keeping PC-NPC's just a blurb on our main profiles. I can see the need for a separate page for them, as we all go through our character's histories at varying levels, however at the same time, I remember only once clicking on a NPC page, off of Kylins, then immediately hit my back button, as I figured it would take me hours to get through =P After that I guess I haven't really clicked on others PC-NPC things. Mostly out of uninterestedness as most of them are unavailable and won't be used in a story arc for that character (except for Kylin's crazy family). But perhaps there could be either a compromise or fix in the future?
25. Everything that I wanted to say has already been said, except for: Move on. /blacklist, /ignore, whatever you have at your disposal, use it and move on. If you share similar friends, don't fret about it. It only fuels him. Don't care who it is, don't care how it works, he's not worth your time, so don't give him that time. If your friends throw a stink, it's time to move on from them. This part is actually a bit harder, as being alone in an MMO is lonely, but do know you have the RPC behind you, and making friends is easy. Like...really easy. Join a new guild, and then BAM! new friends. It takes a bit of work to get back to regular grouping with people, but helping others out and chiming in on similarities and funny stuff gets you right where you need in about a weeks time. In a similar situation, every EX I've had has been harassed by their own Exes, before, during and after my relationship with them. It's usually over Facebook or phone texts. All they have to do is block them on Facebook or block them on their phone. Then move on. They have not. They will not learn. Please learn from this-- they won't go away, so you have to do the extra 5 minutes of work to not have to see them again. (The text thing may be a bit harder, as phone companies for some reason don't make it easy to block numbers, but it's still easy enough to ignore texts. It's especially fun to send them pictures of funny cats. Diffuses situations pretty easily) The most important thing to remember is that bullys of the internet tend to stay on the internet. There's been cases where this has...uhm...been not true, so do not give out addresses and phone numbers, but if it gets bad, then the local authorities are the best bet. But if there's no actual life-threatening thing to worry about, then it deserves no attention if you don't want it. /ignore and move on. If it's not a feature in-game by launch, then just ignore his /tells if he manages to find you. From the sounds of it, it seems like you spoke to him. STOP it. Just stop. No matter the circumstance, just stop it. Don't give him clues about what your plans are (in-game and for ARR, as in don't give him locations for him to find your character), don't ask what he's doing, don't even give him the time of day. Just don't talk to him. If you Mis-tell, don't say anything else. I don't care if he blows up your /tell window for 10 minutes-- because that's as long as it's going to last for. Then he'll move on to /tell you a couple days later. He'll blow up your box for five minutes. He'll stop for a week. He'll send single /tells once in a while, but he'll get no response. Why? Cause you ignored him. I'll PM you details on Social List mechanics for FFXIV.
