[align=center]Lalafellowship[/align] Lalafellowship is an IC Linkshell network dedicated to Lalafell of both heritages! It's primary designation was originally a way for Lalafell adventurers to contact each other with work opportunities, but it has since grown into a social linkshell for both the meek and the mighty. In addition, Lalafellowship OOC exists for OOC conversations of what is happening in the IC linkshell, should explanations be necessary. Rules Of Conduct: OOC cruelty is not tolerated. Please be nice to everyone on the OOC linkshell. If you get banned for being a Meanie butt ICly from the IC linkshell, you are not automatically banned from the OOC one. You may return to the IC one when your character apologizes for whatever they did, and if necessary, compensates the parties involved in some fashion. No IC-OOC information bleed unless you have express permission from the person the information is about. When in doubt if you can use a bit of information, please ask all involved. Power levels are subjective. No one is forcing you to RP with every member of the linkshell, or even believe what they are saying. Your character could simply write off a more powerful character as a braggart and go on with their day. (IC) Rules of Conduct: No extreme verbal cruelty towards linkshell members. If said verbal cruelty gets excessive, the perpetrator will be cut off from the Linkshell. And maybe kicked in the shins if they were really, really mean. No enchanting or hexing the Linkpearl to play music. Singing is Fine. Ignore the end of Rule 2, unless you sound better than a cat in heat that is also dying. Other people will be the judge of rule 3. In other words, if someone tells you "stop", you stop. Do not be excessively perverted, even if we are at the perfect height to see up skirts. Views on RP combat and injuries: Combat is a tricky subject, but I'll leave emotional baggage out of this and just say I don't believe rolls are the be-all-end-all of combat and deciding what happens to your characters after they get injured. Finally, please, for the love of the Twelve, don't write anyone off as dead in a story just because they messed up an emote in an RP fight. I've seen this happen multiple times on other games and the person usually got blacklisted before they could even type "Sorry". Views on IC romance: Love me some love! That being said I do require a level of communication if you're interested in romancing one of my characters. Finally, I can and will retcon things if the relationship turns out sour on an OOC level. As for IC, it's mostly up to what would ICly happen in that situation. Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): Family ties are fine but please, consult me first! For instance, Heemi's family is relatively small, and Kai'to's is entirely dead. Any other relationship of a platonic manner should be heavily discussed before anyone approves anything. Views on lore: Lore is your god, your character its temple. If I see you actively going against lore, or making up new lore that doesn't mesh with the setting, I will ask for an explanation. I need to know you respect the writers and aren't a "Death of the Author" type. I've encountered far, far too many people who think they're above the creators of their greatest treasure. If you are one of those, I may try to educate you, but only if you're receptive. Call me a stick in the mud all you want, but I've had to deal with Player-controlled Death Princesses before, and if I see one again I'm probably going to hurl the perpetrator off a cliff.* Views on chat functions (/say, /linkshell, etc): All can be IC or OOC depending on the situation, enough said. Seems fine to me. As I said, I just think it less likely that the more lore-focused folks would accept them as being actual Yo-Kai from the anime. Adapting it like you have to being mammets or rare beasts from Othard would likely be much more.. digestible by said groups. I know I'd be perfectly fine with such an explanation, but I'd also hope I'm not particularly strict and/or picky on such matters. :blush: ... And not in the least just because such explanations could give my Doman Lalafell a rather fitting reaction to someone using such minions openly. Thanks for your validation! I go with a slightly different angle and say some are creatures/monsters/pets from Doma, while the more weird/humanoid ones are mammets or humanoid monsters, but eh, Who knows? I sure don't. Kyuu kyuu uguu~? I return from the depths of being inactive. Truth be told I was scared about coming back because something I posted, that I thought would make people hate me. As it turns out the thread died shortly thereafter and everything was okay. Anyways I'm looking for a group to hang out with on Balmung. My character's name is Hihimi Himi. I swore I wouldn't post in, or even look at this thread again. I'm glad I broke that. Kage, people aren't perfect, and anyone who freaks out over such a small thing as wanting some attention isn't worth hanging around. People have high times and low times in their life, and one cannot expect everyone to get rid of everything in order to RP. That is, throwing away your own emotions to process your characters' emotions seems extremely wrong in my opinion, biased as it may be, and I've personally found that, as an extremely emotional person, it's best to tie these emotions in with offscreen, NPC driven events. This will allow you and your character to process simultaneously and should help you grow as a person as well. For a hypothetical example, I just had an absolutely shitty day. Dog woke me up at 12 am, it was raining so I couldn't go outside when it became a reasonable hour, and friends failed to show the entire morning before I had to work. So, how do I work these negative emotions realistically into RP? Well, Hihimi just had a really shitty morning, that's how! She would have been at home for that entire time, so I can say a similar series of unfortunate events could have happened to her without involving anyone elses' characters! Perhaps she got woken up by her NPC neighbor's Coeurls at 3 am, a distant thundercrack having freaked them out, and then she was out of Popotoes for breakfast. I can easily make a scenario that encompasses the reason why my character feels as crappy as I do. The only problem lies within the negative stigma for bleed. If more people thought about how and why their character feels what they (The Character) currently feel, and how to alter it to be more roleplayable to their (The Player) current mood without stepping on toes, I doubt it would be such a severe issue. All that being said, I have yet to encounter a single person who failed to separate fiction from reality because of bleed. I'd wager that people who actually cannot separate fiction from reality are a lot scarcer than people on this thread think--and even then, OOC communication is always key in preventing misunderstandings. Always apologize OOCly if you think your action could hurt another person's mental image of you. If you're RPing in a bar with 20 other people, and you insult a pretty Miqo'te girl, she gets upset at you...you always, always have to clarify that it's not you actually saying that. I've hurt too many people's feelings in similar situations. In all the cases it wasn't bleed, it was a lack of communication with the other RPer, who was usually a random person. Finally...there is such a thing as being unable to separate fiction from reality. Its a mental disorder, and honestly I've only seen one case of it from an article on Kotaku(I think?). In said article, the person said they simultaneously felt horrendously pleased and guilty that they were killing people in GTA5, and went on to say how the people they were killing had lives that they were ending, which was the cause of their guilt...but it was just so fun! Those are the type of people that need help. Not RPers.

If I remember correctly, elemental-aspected Aether fits firmly into the Grey Area of lore. Believable, just not openly invoked in the story. this^ personally I see it as a strength/weakness thing for mages, they are stronger with one element than another, which may lead them to pursuing ways to increase their strengths in the others or developing their strongest. It's a nice plot device. I do partake in this, though Nako's aether is unaspected, and gives off an opalescent sheen (I am a fan of I.M.E. (Individual Magic Effect, go read Goblins ) Holy frick I thought I was alone here! Anyways I have yet to really decide on whether or not Hihimi's magic is partially aspected. I don't think it would be. Similarly, she has no I.M.E. ...yet. (Evil cackling)

Why is escapism being thrown around like a bad word? Is someone roleplaying as a long-distance runner doing it wrong because they are in a wheelchair and always wanted to be a runner? What is wrong with fulfilling our dreams?

Why would you avoid potatoes? They're delicious. On a more serious note, do we have a contextual baseline in game of the "general" strength of adventurers? Obviously the average power level will vary with who you're playing with, but is there any IG information on what the "average" adventurer could do? Or the average enlisted soldier? Void potatoes are fun though. Um, I think it'd be similar to soldiers in real life. Except instead of guns/knives, it's magic swords, and instead of grenades/flamethrowers, it's magic spells. Healing makes this a bit tricky, but I say powerful Dedicated healers could undo damage at the same rate a grenade does damage--we just couldn't restore anything dead to life. Other self-healing abilities would probably not function as efficiently, as the user probably isn't specialized to heal, but to harm, which are two entirely different knowledge sets when it comes to magic.

Honestly? I still don't understand why this is even a discussion. People will play what they want to play, and very little will persuade or dissuade someone from playing a female if they want to play a female, or a male if they want to play a male. As there are no tangible benefits to playing a female toon, it is not any sort of problem, or even something to be noticed at all. If anyone is butthurt about this, I apologize, but people will always play what makes them happy, and you can't force me to play more male or more female characters, no matter how the gender makeup of the server falls. I have no qualms about playing male characters-I have several-but for the record, encouraging people to play what they don't want to play for the sake of "Realism" is outright stupid, and never works.
