I kid, I kid. My main is a lala. While she might be eye level with a sea of ass, that does not make her a child. She survived the Calamity, deals with pirates-- excuse me, privateers -- and while sure, she's happy and cheery, she's definitely not a child. Maining one, whether I really rp her or not, I would definitely take them seriously. They may be cute, and sure, they can use it to their advantage, but not all will. I mean, yes, while this may be hard to take seriously: she can totally kick your ass.

Haaaahahahahahahaha yes. Most of the time, at least. For Rivienne and Lune, the character name generator gave me the names (or in Lune's case, her last name since I was blanking on that) for them. Lune is a French derivation of the word Luna, meaning 'moon'. I can't find a meaning for Rivienne. My main character, Alair: her name means happy, cheerful, merry. Her last name is made up (as far as I know at least) and she was actually named for an old OC of mine who made potions and was pretty cheerful. IC she does love everyone and is pretty happy, so that works. Ness's last name means "forest hill" (going off of the auri naming conventions for first/last names) though she's just an import of a character I've had before, as is Karima. Ejinn of course is one of the Xaela tribes, and is Karima's last name. 'rima's name, depending on which meaning you go with (Arabic or Muslim) can mean generous, noble, precious. Ness also has multiple meanings depending on where you look. 'From the Headland' is the Scottish version, and the Hebrew meaning is miracle, magic, wonder. Old Irish says the name means gentle, so... lots of meanings there. Caelia Silverarch actually has a connected meaning! She's an imported OC much like Alair, and I distinctly remember making sure the name made sense with meaning. Caelia means 'heavenly', and so paired with her last name... 'heavenly silver arch.' Sometimes I just RNG the name, but 9 times out of 10 I'll give it a meaning of some sort. I get pretty serious when I do name meanings; first D&D character I ever made, I spent like three hours trying to get an actual name with meaning for my character and refused to finalize her until I did. NAMES ARE SRS BSNS.

If I can convince the player of a certain bouncer for Rendezvous to take the girl he gives gun shows to on your front lawn (hi, that would be me!) Caelia may be there with Terris. Depends on how hard I convince! If not I'll attempt to be there with someone else, if I'm not at work.

I kept flying over the Arboretum after 3.0 dropped and kept hoping we could go inside and my prayers were answered. Plus dat gear. I hope it's soon, give me good news on Sunday, Yoshi-P!

In regards to the finite space discussion, you're able to upgrade a PC to run better specs, load more assets in a virtual box such as a game, etc. With a ps3, it runs on fixed parts. You can load in a different HDD, sure, but replacing the motherboard, upgrading ram, etc? No can do. You can replace parts if they finally bite the dust, but it uses specialized parts for the hardware that don't seem to be able to be upgraded (google has told me as much beyond "you can try to mod it but it may/may not work" and that comes with its own issues.) Trying to stay within x amount of ram specs, memory issues, and whatever else on the ps3 while catering to their PC users who can swap out a new graphics card, sound card, etc to make their game run smoothly is not an easy task. Too much on a screen in hardware you're already pushing to the max can cause it to just not work, which is why I can believe them when they said "We have no idea how to implement TP bars just yet so it doesn't overload your ps3" before they swapped elements out. So for servers to be used for housing are storing a good amount of data plus whatever else they have running on them for maintenance and whatnot plus the inferior ps3 specs they have to still cater to until they release 4.0 in the next year or so makes it limited in how they can do things. Instancing it out would probably cause problems with the instance server (since that's where your dungeon instances likely are too, or they're at least in the same server cluster) in slowdowns, or it wouldn't be what they wanted to go for in the way of "walk up to anyone's house, look at their cute interior/exterior designs, get to know your neighbors!" I remember the XI approach in having to have people in your party and having to inviting them into your Mog House; I wanted friends to be able to just walk in should they wish. So its got its pros and cons, I think the way they've handled housing thusfar hasn't been the best, and yeah they could stand to change it (and maybe they're restructuring it in the shadows, separating FC housing and personal housing from each other and will make that announcement later!) but for now, yeah it's a bandaid but it's a temp fix for them before they can implement a permanent fix. Better server infrastructure and all would be great, and maybe they're upgrading them, who knows! tl;dr I like the way they're going about it! They're giving ample warning with emails to everyone in a FC, a house owner, multiple times. But as a lot of people on reddit have even pointed out, if you've got an empty house/lot that you just have as a trophy and aren't doing anything with it, give it to someone else who will actually use it instead of just letting it sit.

Minor update; since I've had a pretty open schedule as of late, that will be changing, save for weekends (new Mon-Fri job for the foreseeable future!) I'll be available, starting tomorrow, from about 6pm-11pm PDT Mon-Thurs, and whenever I sleep/wake up for Fri-Sun, with sleeping hours around 11pm on Sunday night. Whenever this assignment ends, I'll probably go back to an open schedule. We'll see.

I did not know this thread existed, so I'm glad it's been revived. Neat idea, actually! ...but uh, I actually have an entire fanmix for Terris and Caelia. That Depeche Mode song is half serious, half silly, though.

The Screenshot Thread [Tag Your Spoilers]

http://40.media.tumblr.com/dfdc51717eae2ee7610e645570e902ad/tumblr_nwg65fqw8P1tybnywo1_1280.png[/img] I was at this. Sadly, I didn't get screens of the stuff before the Lalaparade (namely the Lala Sacrifice that you'll see in the finished product from Denmo!) but I got a bunch of screens of the parade. I was one of the line leaders, Alair Valaias. -
H-hahahah... I'll sometimes see people I've seen posting here and I get all excited because hey I recognize that name and their characters seem interesting! ...and then I start doing this internally: http://i.imgur.com/PtW3ke4.gif[/img] mainly from the fact that I don't want to seem weird but that's just me. It's like seeing a unicorn or something. I'm not sure they're crushes in that sense, but see above gif for my normal reaction. Even people I RP with on a frequent basis I get all [internal screaming intensifies] because oh twelve they're rping with me ahhhh. Makes me pretty happy once I get past the initial SEMPAI HAS NOTICED ME though. With people I already RP with I'll just ask if they're busy or if they're wanting to RP or whatever. If not we shoot the breeze most times. Only one of mine is really friendly enough to want to walk up to people, though if I could find a reason for my less than extroverted characters to do that, I'll certainly try. It's not really a notice me sempai thing but more of a confession in that I always feel weird going into FC houses that aren't my own FC. If I'm at the Rendezvous house for the rare RP with Caelia's dorky boyfriend? Beeline for Terris's private room. and oh god i hope no one else sees me and wonders why someone with the tag of <> is here aaaaaaaaah. Same with Lune when I hit up the Dreamer's FC house. It's even worse when I feel like I'm creeping because the Goblet always loads so slowly for me so I'm just sort of... there... outside the door or something before the entrance shows up. Then I just hope I can find who I'm there for quickly. I'm really terrible about that haha. I haven't explicitly done this so... usually followed by a "I see you love terrible things. I, too, love plotting terrible things." Of course, not everything is terrible but I love new plots and getting involved and ahhh. So it makes me really happy. Not really. I love everyone I've RPed with so far, new or old.

I don't have pictures of most of the stuff I've made in the past, but! I do have a few recipes I've used for delicious noms. Shortcut red beans and rice for those who don't have the time to stew red beans for a day or more. I've also experimented with adding different spices as well, and we don't have Slap Ya Mama here in Reno soooo I just roll with the cajun spices I can find. I believe I also used the seafood gumbo recipe on that same site and modified it some. I was told that, while it was still gumbo, with all the seafood I put into it beyond crab and shrimp it more resembled a cioppino but as a gumbo. Was still ridiculously tasty. One of the other things I've done in the past was buying huge, almost the size of my hand shrimp and stuffing them. It was a fairly simple recipe derived from a different stuffed shrimp with pepperjack cheese. I also got some ricotta cheese and crab meat (real crab, not krab), used just salt and pepper in the crab/ricotta mixture and stuffed/covered the shrimp with it. Popped it under the broiler to melt the cheese, flipped the shrimp to cook them, and voila. It was so tasty ;; A few weeks ago, I made this. Boy howdy was it good. Popped it in the oven and hnnnnng. I added some prosciutto to it to balance out the ham and brie and it turned out better than I had been hoping. Brie is such a delicious cheese, I love cooking with it. Pair it with gruyere and it's a match made in heaven for me. And the last thing I can think of off the top of my head that I made for a coworker that was moving from the states to Japan were some super delish garlic miso chicken wings. I wanted to make something that was sort of a hybrid food and I found this. Receiver at my old job told me he'd take an order for his Super Bowl party lol. I also used the marinade for other meats as well, so it's not just for chicken. It makes your kitchen (and your house/apartment) smell amazing while its cooking too! If you go looking for miso paste, your best bet is going to be at an Asian market. It'll be located in the refrigerated section of the store. You can use it for other things too, so it's pretty versatile!

Solenne would have been active then, yes. We should totally talk! I would love for Solenne to have some connections from her past. Definitely! Lune's usually really quiet and EVERYONE WANTS TO BRING BE BACK TO ISHGARD so seeing a face that she knows isn't going to do that would probably send her over the moon Awesome! We'll definitely plan something, then! Sounds good to me! Shoot me a PM here, or a /tell! I'm usually on one of three characters at any given time, so a PM might be best.

Character Idea: Fifth Astral Era Knight
rainichan replied to SessionZero's topic in Character Workshop
Stasis could be a thing, especially with the Amdapori, seeing as how they were the ones that did the time/space magic in lore. Sounds like a fun idea. -

Hnng I just saw this now, and seeing as how Lune is a falsely accused branded heretic, something like this is probably how she got out of Ishgard's reach and into Gridania for hiding until she was relocated to Ul'dah. That was about a year after the Calamity happened, so I'm not sure how long Solenne has been retired from it, but if she was still active then, Lune may recognize her.

I've always figured that they employed some form of the other's magic (black mages really have no way of healing, so why not learn some basic white magic to help that, or even some of that crazy stuff the Nym do, for example) so employing those with little to no magic skill to take some crazy magic to the face from the opposing sides wouldn't be a far stretch for me to say happened.

balmung mysterious knight looking for companion
rainichan replied to Chant's topic in Chronicled Connections
I've mainly been bouncing between three characters (my main and then actual rp characters) though Caelia has been getting a bit more love lately. However, two of my rp characters are based in Ul'dah right now (Caelia Silverarch and Lune Vormold) so shoot me a /tell if I'm online and Miune is around Ul'dah if I'm not on those two, shoot a /tell to Alair Valaias (my main kinda-rp lala) and we can discuss stuffs there, I can switch over, etc. Edit: derp, should mention that Cae and Lune's wiki links are in my sig, so give em a lookover, see which one would ping him more? -
I don't generally watch people in terms of YT (unless I find them pretty damn funny) but there's one I like to watch, and that's JAHN TRAHN. As for others I'm subbed to, Abstract Garden, Alkahest, Kajetokun, Masashi Yamanaka, and the NintendoCore Duo. I have a couple other subs, but they're mainly so I can go back and listen to some of the music they have uploaded but haven't updated in forever (saves on my YT faves list, actually!)

Not unless a character is talking and then following it up with an action, such as: Caelia Silverarch: Oh, didn't see you there. Are you following me or something? Caelia Silverarch: "Well, even if you aren't," she said with a wave of her hand, "Sort of a coincidence you're here as well after I just left the 'Sands, isn't it?" I'll do /em for any emotes, only using my above example if it doesn't break the flow too much (I try not to do that anyway, but sometimes it happens,) but /say has always been a normal talk channel where people are talking with each other. If I have to say something ooc I'll either do it in /t or ( i'll say it in pretty obvious not-IC /say ). On forums and in actual RP I capitalize, casual text I don't because I'm usually just BSing with friends anyway (but grammar and punctuation are always something present no matter the medium) so it's usually pretty obvious if I've gone from obstinate, huffy mage to myself for "crap, it should be can't, not can!" to change typos or whatnot in /s.

On the internet, guys are guys, girls are guys, and kids are cops in disguise. Jokes aside, I know a lot of guys who play women, and a lot of women who play guys, so I kind of do what Aaron said he does: assume they are that gender until told otherwise, though I know internet arpees is dominated by women (I did a lot of LJ/DWRP and that hobby is like 94% women, 6% men, at least when I was active in it.) Not sure about the stats on FFXIV, so I won't comment there. On topic: I like lore. Love it. I love worldbuilding (one of my favourite series, Ar tonelico and in part Ar nosurge/Ciel nosurge, is HUGE on worldbuilding, lore, and even have their own full constructed languages for the game universe - MULTIPLE constructed languages, in fact!) but... I'm not a huge lore stickler. It might not gel with others well, but if you can make it believable, run with it. I do it. I know others do it. Just make it work in some way and I'm cool with whatever you throw at me. ...I'm also shiptrash but that was probably a given. I'm horrendously shy generally, and there are plenty of people I've seen here and others I follow on tumblr and I go ":O I KNOW THEM! They're (whoever) on the rpc/tumblr!" and then when I think to wave or something I chicken out. So I'll forever be the creeper who knows people and will internally be excited I saw you but probably never say anything (probably. Maybe some day I will!) And while it's not really a confession because I think most are like this: I love fluff. Sappy cute stuff. But I wholly enjoy hurting my characters just as much as I love the cute shoujo sparkles doki doki stuff. I don't think I've had enough of that yet in game, it'll have to happen eventually.

Void Ark -> Sorcerers escaping a flood -> MHACHI AIRSHIP. That is my conclusion and this patch can't come fast enough.
