This is actually a bit late, but since there are still 16 days until Christmas I suppose it could still work. I'm originally from WoW, WRA for anyone else who might have migrated here, and the last Christmas I was there someone held a sort of "Dirty Santa" gift trading event. What is Dirty Santa you ask? It has many names throughout the world but it's basically where you bring a gift, everyone picks a gift, and you walk away with something that sits in your closet until next year, fun fun. So what the person did was ask anyone who wanted to participate to buy a gift, with a gold range of course, and then mail it to them. It was on the honor system but with 40 people sending you presents your reputation would sink fairly quickly if you were to rip everyone off. Moving on, people could participate all the way until 12 am of December 25th. At that time, the person would take said collected gifts and mail them randomly to all the people who participated. I myself got a pet that year that was above the gold cap set, but I think the cap is more of a 'don't expect to get more than this' kind of thing and people could be generous if they wanted as long as they didn't expect it back in return. So, would anyone in the community find interest in this? Please reply and have a good day!

Ello! Wayfarers of Eorzea is a FC that acts as a family among its members. Our members come from all walks of life and we hold a standard that anyone is welcome. Whether it be a dark past or simply someone looking for a place to belong, Wayfarers are there to provide a home, work, and support for whomever walks through our doors. Aside from providing a home, given through our FC house, we also provide work for adventuring types as well as those who would prefer a more domestic approach as waitresses, cooks, and bartenders for our IC run tavern/restaurant. The restaurant is nearing it's opening as we have almost all the pieces in place, but our adventuring jobs aren't in full swing yet. In time we want there to be several tasks that teams may take on from a work board at anytime. These events would be done in a DnD style format that pulls you through a certain scenario and has your character react accordingly. While these individual jobs have not been released, we are rolling out a weekly event in the evening that anyone in the FC can participate in with this style. These could be full of action, silliness, mystery, or disaster; the goal is to provide a catalyst for character progression. I always over complicate my posts, lol, but if you would ever like to stop in and RP with us you can find us at plot 58, ward 6 in the goblet. We are new and many features are still underway but we are hopeful that we can provide a positive influence on the community. Even if you don't join we love to see new faces walk through our doors. Take care and good luck in your search! -

*Reads the post and slowly pulls the Wayfarer's Rest sign below her make believe thought table and coughs* Well, I won't try to pitch our tavern to you, lol. Though I wanted to comment because I love the players who are willing to make DnD style plots. One of our main focuses that we have yet to achieve is making many different jobs or scenarios that our members can take on as groups to either provide actions, silliness, drama, or just something to get people to know each other; all of which grow and progress a character. I think people don't always understand that every action grows a character in some way. Even a tavern full of goofs can soften the heart of a cold, sad person after so many interactions. We rub off on each other ICly just as people influence others in RL. I love it. If anything, this is a post of support for the OP. Someone give this guy a story! If you ever want to give taverns a chance, visit us someday. We are slowly growing but everyone who joins joins knowing everyone. No cliches, no judging, just Roleplay. We're like if Cheers and Fairy Tail had a baby, a really weird animated baby with bad jokes. And you don't have to join our FC to visit and partake in the RP. We are on from 7-10 central time on most nights, but as of late things have been a bit slower with the new patch. I will be available on Rini on most nights so feel free to message me. Take care! -
balmung Wandering Artist (and more) Seeking Networking!
RiniKett replied to Kasumi's topic in Chronicled Connections
Wayfarer's Rest could always use trade connections and could potentially give her the information she could use to find sources of her own. We have a post on the trading stuff here. As far as connections, Rini is always open to new people if they can manage to find her. She is usually at the tavern or the market board outside though, so visiting the Inn while I'm online would most likely lead to a run in. Good luck and take care! -
balmung Wayfarer's Rest: Hiring, Trading, and Open for Service!
RiniKett replied to RiniKett's topic in Chronicled Connections
Giving this a quick bump as we are still offering trade opportunities/hiring. We will be hosting a reception next Friday, and the Friday after, the 27th, we will be officially open. An event will be posted soon. -
From what I have seen, people take gil prices at different weights. Some consider 70 gil to be the equivalent to 70 dollars, basing it off food prices. Some consider 700 to be 70 dollars, and some consider 7,000, etc etc. I think a few hundred thousand is more the price of our actual market since Rini sells music boxes for 50,000 OOC. As nice as they are, I would only expect a music box to go for maybe 500 actual gil...But I guess you could also consider how much gil does a person carry on them at one time...Like, would it be normal for anyone to carry more than 100 at a time? Is there different forms of currency as in 5s, 10s, 20s, etc. If it is singular, you can imagine how heavy the pouch would be to carry 100,000 pieces of gil. <.< Could probably make a whole thread on this. Lots to speculate, but I imagine you would compare it to the price NPCs sell. He has a point of spending $20 for a shirt at Walmart and 200-400 in a designer store, even possibly $2000 if it was a famous designer. But still, if that was the case, and a normal shirt was 700 gil, all you would do is add the 0s. Cheap being 700, designer, 70,000, top of the line, 700,000. Which surprising, looks like our AH on a lot of outfits...Of course if the cheap shirt was 70 it would significantly lower the price by a digit. Still something that can get confusing!

*Lalafell laugh* "Fool! Why, the very idea of not turning profit I- I couldn't possibly conceive of such a disgraceful thing." *throws a bobbin of silk thread at Rini* "That's fine thread. Make it into something and sell it. Or you can hang yourself with it." *hairflip* *Rini is whacked in the back of her head by the thread* *She whines and rubs her head, looking back at him with her lip poking out and a scowl on her face.* "Don't prey on the poor!" *She takes a mythril nugget from her Goldsmith pouch and lobs at Vyce*

Rini would be glad to make something for you. She wouldn't know what to charge, and if your character is obviously poor she has a bad habit of giving away services for free.

Searching for Doctor, medic, and healer types.
RiniKett replied to Swygynwyzn's topic in Chronicled Connections
Ello! I am going to copy this from an earlier post to get the merc part out of the way and elaborate on it: "Wayfarers of Eorzea is technically a mercenary company even if they don't prefer to use that title. The members take jobs from either other players or we create them from an NPC. This can include IC dungeons with plot, investigation, silliness, escorting a NPC, etc etc. The FC created jobs usually consist of a DnD style Roleplay where it's up to your character to act and react to their surroundings and events. Also, aside from the company board jobs, we have an ongoing plot throughout the FC as a whole. If you would like a teaser on what this consists of Stroud has posted a little something here. Aside from adventuring, we run an IC tavern that is in the works before being opened to the public. Most of our casual RP happens in the tavern where the members talk, argue, drink, and have their slice of life RP. There is no standard for who can join so there are many people from different walks of life involved; even a family with children. We aren't military, we are a family bound by the struggles of life that we share together." Now, as stated, we are sort of a Merc FC by the definition; we do take jobs and work at them to give our members a form of income, exercise, to help other people, and to form bonds through adventure. I want to note that these jobs aren't always combat or 'hunts'. Sometimes they are going to a battlefield to treat the injured, sometimes it is finding a lost child that has wandered away from the village, or even gathering ingredients for a local farm. It is up to the group who does the job on how they handle it. Wayfarers is made up of many different people from different walks of life and different varying opinions. Rini is a simple, normal, soft spoken girl who's goal out of any of this is to give people a home and make them happy. It's this aspect that makes us unique. There's not really many rules or code of conduct. We only ask that members treat other members with respect as if they were your family. We aren't military, we aren't an organized club of fighters who look for the jobs with the biggest pay, we aren't politicians who debate on how we can make the world better, but we are Au Ras who are learning to live in a new and strange land, we are the children who grew up without parents or any concrete home life, we are the kidnapped, the tortured, the ones who did what we had to in life to keep living, we are husbands, wives, families with children who run up and down the steps with foam swords dreaming of being heroes one day, we are the ones who are only looking to find a place to be ourselves and can be happily accepted, we are the exiles from Ishgard or any other nation whom would brand us unfit for their country, we are brothers, sisters, people. We do not form ourselves to the mold of status quo, we are Wayfarers! Lol, I might have went overboard with that, but it's that passion for the underdog that drove me to start this. If you would like to see if we would be a nice fit for you and you wife please feel free to stop by. Despite my speech, we do have rules for OOC behavior as we don't condone drama of the OOC sort. If any of this finds interest to you please don;t hesitate to PM. Take care! -
How I wish I could do this! I started out Rping on WoW several years ago and nothing was more fun than sneaking through the corridors of Silvermoon, placing your back into a corner, and watching a corrupt guild discuss their plans for hours only for you to go sell the information or ambush them at a vital part of their plot. Loved it!~ Unfortunately, I haven't seen many FCs do this sort of RP on Balmung. Just because I haven't seen them doesn't mean they don't exist, but it's a lot harder to watch people and get information without a real stealth. I do have an alt who does this sort of work, the spy game of learning secrets for his own means or for others, but the sort of excitement and drama that your post leads up to makes me feel like it's the start to an Assassin's Creed game, which would be an awesome FC plot if people would run it; Running about the city states, learning intel, making false friendships and using them to your advantage for the belief of doing something 'good'. Good stuff. I hope you find something like this as it can be really fun. If not, maybe you and Cas can work together someday. Good luck!

Another time thread... Last time I asked how many years and such have passed, but this one is a little more...Blunt. I'm confused over the chronological order of "Astral" and "Umbral". To my understanding of how we pick our "nameday" in the character creation, the first Astral Moon comes before the first Umbral moon. I've always associated Astral coming first..But then I read this... Timeline on the wiki So, according to the timeline the Sixth Umbral Era occurred before the Sixth Astral Era. So Eras go backwards? Is the wiki wrong? Or is the assumption that the First Astral Moon comes first wrong? Or are they both right and Square decided to make things backwardly complicated?

Allo! Friday, November 6th, 6pm until- CST Wayfarer's Rest Plot 58, Ward 6, Goblet Tonight we will be hosting an open house. I'm posting this here since it's not an official event, but an invitation for those who would like to reach out or have a bit of social RP. Nothing special will be held that we don't already do on a nightly basis, but we are encouraging those who are curious of our company to stop by and find out first hand. We will be starting at 6 pm tonight, CST, and will linger throughout the night until things quiet down. At this time your character can come for a drink, meet our members, eat sweets!, and even join if you wish. We will not be serving our menu tonight, but we will still be serving refreshments and a variety of alcohol, or non if you prefer. We have an abundance of food left over from L'raha and Zy'dala's reception so feel free to help us finish off several cakes. We also encourage you to take a peek at what we have been working on in our developing Inn And if you have been trying to meet with me, but we just haven't had the chance, I will be around at least until 11 pm. I hope to see lots of new faces tonight. Take care!

Ello! Wayfarers has become active between 6-11 pm EST as of late. We are in the works of running a public tavern/inn, but we are also planning to have jobs from the work board where characters can form groups and carry out missions together. These can be provided by other players, or we will create them from an NPC. As on the now, we have a steady amount of social RP in the evenings. We have focused ourselves on providing refuge for characters who are in a tight spot or who are outright homeless. Due to this, we have a wide variety of personalities that, even though they are different, respect and care for one another as a family. If you would like, feel free to drop in tonight and RP with us! Even if you don't join we love meeting new people. Take care! Wayfarers of Eorzea

Hey, on the bright side, your post got way more views and replies than mine have. lol

I can see this thread getting toxic fast, but there was something I read a few months ago that has stuck with me when deciding how to approach RP. It was something along the lines of, and this is me paraphrasing: "A lot of RPers like to make the strong silent type that doesn't approach others and has a tragic backstory that is awesome to you, but keep in mind that it might not make others RP with you. It's okay if you want to be that character, but you need a hook to make people interact." I took this to heart as it is true. We can make whatever character we want and we have the freedom to do that. He has the freedom to make whatever type of Dragoon he wants to claim, BUT everyone else also has the right to not include themselves in that RP. Thus, I have always took into account what would be the most approachable solution to a character in order to mesh with others easily. Even though a character is silent, sometimes you need to push them a bit OOCly, even it breaks character, to have a character build relationships to even have interaction. Either way, I hope the best to all parties. Wish I could find that post. I think it was a "How to get started in RP" post by a moderator. Still, really good stuff to keep in mind.

Wayfarers are looking for IC connections for trade goods. We would be interested in the food product rather than the pearls. If you are interested please Pm!

Well, your challenge basically makes it easy for me to advertise I suppose. Wayfarers of Eorzea run a tavern, but also take jobs from other players or we create them from an NPC. There is a lot of nice words I could use to sell you OOC, but I rather invite you to come meet with us this evening. Even if I am not present you are welcome to come as most of the time our FC has group RP in the tavern in the evenings and are always open to the wandering adventurer who might require a meal and drink. Depending on what time you stop by I -might- not be there tonight as I have an RL obligation, but please feel free to look us up. ICly, we have fliers advertising the tavern up around the cities with our address. Good luck in your search! Wayfarer's of Eorzea

We aren't always 'open' as far as the full detail of someone taking an order, serving it to you, etc. But we are almost always RPing among ourselves during the evenings. We are located in ward 6, plot 58 of the Goblet. Just walk in and take a peek downstairs and if they are in a scene feel free to either walk down and ask for service ICly or some have even emoted ringing the bell upstairs; it's up to your preference. We happily fix warm meals for travelers that are passing through or provide friendly banter. There is actually one Au Ra woman(no names) who stops by every week or so just for a meal and we are completely fine with that. We are really about making a go to place for anyone to find RP in a friendly, peaceful setting. Everyone's past is left at the door providing you don't start trouble inside with other patrons. We are also recruiting, but it isn't required at all to jump into RP with us. In the end, our goal is to recruit more people through the community that will show up randomly until it is that go to place in which people know they can find someone who is looking for a walk-up or just a friendly, interesting scene. This is starting to catch on with folks who drop by and we are excited that more are coming frequently. The one thing I would stress is don't be shy; We are very laid back and playful OOC and enjoy both silly and serious roleplay. If you are curious about anything else feel free to PM me or check out some of our other threads! I hope to see you soon!
