I'm sorry, I was very vague with my description. I wasn't aware of a new launcher, or a place to download the patch on your own. Basically, in many mmos that launch an expansion through a digital upgrade, they release a patch at some point before launch that updates everyone's client to have the required files for the new game. Even those who have not purchased will receive the patch just so they can still see the new models, etc. When you purchase the game it simply unlocks the availability of the content, BUT....Where or when is this such patch? My guess, it will be larger than 10 gigs for a new world and quests and such....And I run a 100kbs download. This is the only reason I was wondering the patch date. Of course, they might not even use this method I am only guessing on past experiences with different games. Sorry for the confusion.

Right, and that is what I am hoping, except I don't think I've downloaded a patch recently that is near big enough to be Heavensward. I was wondering if anyone know knew -when- this will be be downloaded.

So, I'm unsure if this will unfold like the other MMOs I have played, but for those who have early access and for those who have a digital edition of Heavensward...When will we download the new content? I'll admit that I don't keep up with the official Forum Posts, but I know there are a few here who do and might be able to clarify a bit for me. I'm basically worried they will release the download right before or as early access opens because my net is horrible. Thanks.

Wedding of Nebula & T'caska RP event & request for performers
RiniKett replied to Nebbs's topic in Chronicled Events
I'll be on for it tonight. The last couple of nights have been crazy for me...Now I just have to find something decent for Rini to wear that isn't her hood. -
If you still need a healer Rini would rush to this. If you don't need a healer then she'd still rush to do this as a defensive caster.

RP Idea: Is this too crazy? Feedback wanted!
RiniKett replied to LadyRochester's topic in RP Discussion
Personally, the idea sounds pretty neat. It would have obsticls to go around, but it makes a nice origin story. They might even grow to hate you ICly. Oh I love stories and drama. I might have an alt interested in giving it a go. -

Ello! L'rinhi would love to meet him and make a new companion. Myself and a few friends started an adventuring FC/LS that runs dungeons, hunts, etc ICly as leves and bounties posted on the various work boards around Ul'dah. We are very small and looking to grow with those interested in joining for story purposes. If you think this would interest you then feel free to send myself a message here or L'raha Nunh a message in game. I'm on later in the evenings and he is on practically all day. Happy hunting!

Yes. There seems to be two sides of this in this particular case. On the one side, the idea that people are allowing their OOC biases to influence their IC behavior (people who hate Au Ra coming up with novel justifications for their character to share their views). The other side I'm seeing is people being personally offended by discrimination targeted towards their characters. If a fictional character dislikes Au Ra, why should that be upsetting to the player? You aren't your character and you aren't Au Ra. What it seems to boil down to is that some people just fundamentally dislike racial prejudice as an RP theme. Which is clearly their prerogative, even if it can potentially limit who they RP with. I agree, I guess I always figured that RP, while being fantasy, is still an extension of the world in which we live in. It is based off of people, society, conflict, and solutions. Just as things are in our world there are going to be things that happen in the rp world that are wrong. While I do not believe racism is justified by any means, it is a character trait/flaw. If someone wishes for their character to hindered by such it is their choice. But, everyone is different, but everyone has their own rights as well, even those who play a racist character as long as it doesn't involve an OOC hate....If it does then that person is just petty.

I think I got lost half way through the responses...But..Isn't one of the fundamental rules of RP to separate IC feelings and OOC feelings? Though, it's almost impossible to persuade those who believe one way to believe another via the internet; I would guess this goes by a user by user experience?

Heavensward Ilevel Requirements. Strange Design Choice?
RiniKett replied to Xavieraux Reinardes's topic in FFXIV Discussion
As someone who has played WoW religiously for the past 9 years, and who has tried -almost- every MMORPG that is out there to date, Final Fantasy makes it hard not to drop my Raid team in WoW and come over full time. Then again, if I actually had to pay for WoW I might not even be on it anymore. They came out with the Token system recently so you can pay with in game currency... But all of that aside, FF14 did really damn good at giving their players what they want. I heard that the original FF14 had the worst launch in the history of MMOs, not proven, and if that is so, then it's even more impressive. Things might be different from what people in other MMOs are use to, but I personally hope they continue to make things different, to change the standard and keep things that you have to work towards. Anyone who has been a loyal WoWer from Vanilla on can tell you the game got less and less enjoyable as they simplified things. But that's just my opinion. *tosses in two pennies.* -
If you are in need of a Conjurer, Rinhi would happily join in for the work/adventuring aspect. Not sure if you are already full or not, but I'm available at almost anytime on the weekends and the evenings of the weekdays.

Welcome to the game! Always good to see a fellow Moonie! Nebbs covered most of the basics, anything else you can find on this site. It's a really nice tool. Consider visiting the wiki link! *threw in her two cents*

Personally, and I want to emphasize personally, I feel as though the time the developers have put in the game for day and night and the time bubble in general is more of a game mechanic than lore. The more I think about the information that has been provided, and thank you all for the massive amount of information given, the more I tend to feel that this is another Lore vs Game Mechanic argument. While it is completely understandable as to why the time bubble is there for new players to experience the storyline in ARR at a set time so that everything happens chronologically, I still find it hard to believe that we as roleplayers, characters that divulge away from the game mechanic of being a warrior of light, being the only Whitemage(Shots fired), and being this path driven character that is set by the developers would follow something set for the story rather than the stories we are writing everyday. As Roleplayers, we deviate from the game mechanics and base our world off the lore we know. Because of this cross over, I am starting to feel it will never be possible for everyone to agree on the dates or time. There are the gray areas that are going to be debate and somethings are as black and white as they can be such as IC resurrection....Right? Again, I think it all boils down to the player and how they personally feel about what is given. What I won't understand is if this time bubble is there to give new players a chance to feel that they are there in the story of ARR and the bubble will shift for the expansion then....What happens to the players starting fresh again? Do they go back in time? No, they start in that year of the story and move forward. When I explain this to my friends who I want to join the game I literally tell them "It's a Final Fantasy that you play, it feels like a Final Fantasy, it sounds like one, it looks like one, and it has a story like one. The only difference, is you have one character that goes through the story and you occasionally have to group with other people to progress. Then when you finish the story, it's like any other MMO." Personally, I think the community is the blood of the game rather than it's story. The story, while nice, will never change, but each and every day on our server will be unlike any other. I tend to like the thought of that. Thanks again for all the help and interest. Sure saves me the time from finding this myself! And hey, maybe we will get lucky someday. It took Blizzard 10 years before releasing an official timeline for WoW and 25 years for us to receive one for Zelda. Cross your fingers.
