Lorewise, somewhat as they aren't native to the area. However, it looks like you mean just to play. As others have said, there is a stigma. I personally am leery to RP with a low level miqo (regardless of gender) because of how many times I have been approached with something specific in mind. That said. I give everyone a chance. I am actually IC married to a miqo on my elezen and my au ra dated/s one. I have met quite a few really good miqo'te. I feel a little "weebie" on my au ra. But I love her to bits and would not change her. Play what you find enjoyable. People who solely judging you for what race you play are people you probability wouldn't want to RP with anyways.

I was actually on Gilga about 2.5 years ago. RP was pretty open, but then it just took a dive. There was a scandal that didn't help as well and RP'ers were trolled pretty hard if doing open world RP. Around then I transferred to Balmung. I asked someone recently what it was like and they said there were pockets. I have heard some good things about Jenova as well tho.

Aloof perhaps? Perhaps not understanding "common" folk issues. One of my characters is a well off elezen, raised in a more noble way (mother Ishgardian, father hardworking Gridania that built his wealth) . However, she kind of rebelled against what her father wanted. For some context, her mother was a black sheep in her family, sent off to marry my characters father. Her father, wants to be in that more noble world and worked toward it. Even arranging marriages for his two daughters. Anyways, the one thing I have Ritsu do (which isn't that noticeable) She /never, never/ calls anyone Sir, Miss, Lady ect. Even if introduced as such. But that is my little bit of rich girl snob for her.

I tend to rely on actions and speech for the most part. I also tend to emote actions as well, generally with text off unless we are somewhere traffic heavy. I do throw out thoughts sometimes, generally for humor sake. Personally I am not a huge fan of para unless it is needed for description - like a DM'ed event. If we are sitting having tea or something, I rather if be shorter as if we were speaking to each other.

Chidori is a pocket mage and takes odd jobs as well outside her company. She is a very loving person and I could see her doing something like that. She speaks slightly off, not poor enough have a hard time understanding her, but you can tell common isn't her first language. She also misunderstands things at times, so that could lead to some amusing "issues". She is law/good, however she is very trusting. Chi has friends, family and her job at Wandering Tonberry. As well as I am the owner on my other character of said FC. Thursday evenings are out for me since we have our own event then. Generally speaking I am around between noonish est time, but depends on work sch. Days in game are generally light, most my folks get on in the evenings. Currently, Chi is more my RP focus. I tend to get on the other for PvE, events or as requested. Two events Chi is locked into outside of FC ones are 2/14 (giving away flowers at pop up RP) and 2/24 (dodgeball with her sisters!) I mentioned this to one of my folks, they mentioned they would be interesting as well. They aren't on RPC much, but if you want to message Karin Lantrans. They are generally on in the evenings est. Karin also could lead to amusement since she is pretty monotoned and blunt. Karin would also be more okay with criminal stuff happening around her. I also suffer from social anxiety, however if I am comfy with someone it is usually fine. It is also why I like another person or two around at times so the focus isn't just on me. Not sure if that would make a bad fit or better since I understand it. Karin doesn't, but sometimes they may push out of comfort zone. She does that to me. Sometimes good, sometimes want to run away and hide. >.<;;

I have a character that does. Since that was going to be one of her hooks for RP, someone teaching her to speak better. However, people tend to just let Chi be Chi. Lore book somewhat debunks how I have her speak, but she isn't from Doma. Rather a small village (NPC) out in Orthard. So story for her, it is very possible that prehaps any/all speak common tongue except for maybe traders. After she left the village, she lived outside Doma, which she did learn a good bit. She just talks a bit different and short still. She is my more "cutesy" and social character so she even throws out some foreign words from time to time and may not always understand what is being said. It has lead to some entertaining RP early on One of my old FC mates would teach her "bad" words. But since I feel like it is somewhat frowned upon overall, I do tone her down a notch or two in a public setting. I even thought about changing her pattern, but it feels awkward. So it is going to have to be a change overtime as she learns. Long story short, you do you. You are going to find people who will be okay with it and you will find people not.

I think one of the biggest issues is being spread out. Really, I would love to see a second big RP server, but there tends to be pockets here and there. Trying to consolidate that, would be a huge task. If you want to go grand scale, reaching out in social media may be an option. It seems the RP community is somewhat divided on medias (between RPC and tumbler ect) There are folks that don't want to pay the transfer or just don't /want/ to come to Balmung. Small scale, others have listed what I would personally do. Advertise your LS/FC via shouts, party finder, maybe even your server FB/other media. Holding some light RP events/give aways also might be a way to get folks interest. Keep it light enough for PvE people to enjoy, but throw a taste of RP in there as well. Best of luck!

I never like to say that I /won't/ RP with someone and I may lack some RP etiquette still as I am very used to RP'ing with people that know me fairly well. Only think I try to avoid is Void themes on Ritsu as she has some rather strong feelings on that. Nunhs would still make me leery tho, as folks have said - quite a few folks out there use it for fetish reasons. I try to give the benefit of the doubt til things get eehhh and I nopes the heck out of there!

I feel I actually got more of that on Gilga than Balmung Granted I do get an Erp request time to time, more on alts than Ritsu. I think my putting that she is married has deterred a lot of it. Even then, most ask politely and when I decline they don't push. I have only had a time or two with someone that got too pushy. And in those cases, Blist and move on. It would be nice for people to have other options tho. I feel like the negative things on Balmung would be: Low chance of ever owning property. The Quick has changed quite a bit since when I moved here. Folks that only Erp focus tend to hang there. But to counter it - there are tons of FC hosted taverns. Not a great server for selling, but things tend to go cheap fast. I know some servers still had the crafted Ironworks for several millions and I pretty much geared out completely for the same cost as the chest. What project are you working on? Trying to build a better RP community on other servers?

I rolled on Siren to do some testing of things, it seemed pretty dead. I was actually on that server long long ago, RP didn't happen back then but things could have changed. Gilga I actually left two years ago because of lack of RP. I have heard that it still exists, but is pretty small community. No clue on Jenova. Granted I am also curious as to what deters you from Balmung. If you want open world RP, it is a place for it. They have lots of different focused RP FC's to choose from as well as many open world events of all kind. I moved here over two years ago and love it.

Have you already thought about what your character is a bout? Maybe a bit of background? I started out RP'ing in this game about three years ago. I started out pretty bare bones on my main. What was she - Archer. What is her personality - Cold, but very polite. She acts very noble. And did a bit of background on her as I fleshed her out more, which I kept building. RP FC's def help get it going. Particularly ones that hold events and what not. And that is what I get for starting to answer this and get distracted - more post happen. Anyways all plausible. And as stated above - can give her an IC name or have a reason for it. My name isn't lore friendly as I started just OOC play. But gave her IC reasoning for it. (She has a very eccentric mother to say the least.) As far as personality - go for it. Just realize that people will respond as they will respond IC wise. My own while polite - tends to come off cold. Which..some people have said she is difficult to get on with.

I have a lllllooot of alts. But with having and time constraints. I focus on two characters the most. While slowly leveling the others. I don't get into super meaningful relations on my low tier alts, it just isn't fair to other players. Most are used for plot devices ect. I have my villian character, while fun she isn't the most user friendly. Others are funny to dally on, but outside FC folks - they don't get into much. Ritsu and Chi are my main focus. I find splitting time between them not bad as they are fairly different characters.

I use it when I a IC. Or at least open to it. With Ritsu I sometimes hide in her room and do minor crafting stuff. So if people need to talk to her in there, cause switch gears. I keep it off for when I am doing content, def ooc. Would I rp with someone who didn't use it?? Certainly, but I am already walk up shy so the symbol does at least make me feel a little more at ease about it.

Welcome to the RPC o/ The majority of us are on Balmung, sadly character creation is usually closed here and the only way to get in is transfer (Can try wee hours in the morning or right after maintenance - but it is rare). There are small pockets of RP on all kinds of servers tho!

It isn't really for me. None of my characters would really run in the same circles or know of them, so at best they might meet them in a tavern or something. But then there is the potential problem of multiples. Say I meet one NPC but then come across another NPC'ing the same thing. Just feel it could get messy in that way.

Don't feel desperate A fair few like romantic RP. I met my IC partner organically, which was nice. Romantic RP wasn't even on my radar at ALL. 2 years later, we are still at it IC married couple, OOC bffs. I worried about bleed, as I am also very leery of it. But we have not had that issue at all!

I think you could be a large sword wielder without being DrK. At least in my book, they could just be proficient with various swords. Now if you wanted to tap into some of that power that is exclusively dark knight, then yeah. For Chidori, I lightly fleshed out somethings for her. But it is a touch hard with the lack of knowledge that we have. I so look forward to the lore book. On a funny side note: With how many white/white-blonde/blonde Raens we have floating around, I half jokingly think of making a LS for Chi's old village. Be like children of the corn type thing. So I decided to do A8 a few times for gears for 240 wep. Easy stuff yea? First time I went in as a bard for fun, haven't barded in a bit. Went fine. Decided to go healer after that. So first bit went smooth, til the tank just afks right at the add phase. Shit happens, I assumed something popped up irl. We wait a few, end up kicking him and more on. 3rd one went fine. Then we got the AFK tank for the last one again. Now I am SURE this dude is trolling. We start. Right before ads pop. He stops moving for like half a minute, then is like "DPS is low, I am leaving". Then goes "I can't leave in combat" So he halfway does his job. DPS keep standing in all the things and dying. I keep bringing them back up, but with some of them the weakness is so bad, they can't stack. We wipe lack to dps. He starts to berate everyone Me and Rog were like >.> since we had him before. And it was very clear he didn't know what a cooldown is. I heal Rog all the time as a pally, so admittedly I am spoiled by him. But I have had my fair experience healing bad tanks as well. And this was one of the worst.
