OK just... Let's just let that argument end, seeing as this discussion thread. SO...... I'm I the only one questioning if Odin is really a primal based off of what Titamt said. I mean after all.... Odin seems more like something summoned by his sword (think the garuda sisters) making Zantetsuken more likely to being a primal. Also we have never seen any one praying for Odin. It could mean the blade is real problem. Maybe as a stand in for the ultimate weapon that a hero might weld?

balmung The Grindstone - Saturdays at 10 PM EST (9 PM Central)
Asmodean replied to YesGood's topic in Roleplay Events
I really need to get my weekday job to be full time already so I have the weekend nights to enjoy events like these and waste them at a dead end night job. T.T -
Matoya out right ask when did you light fade from her eyes... Most then saying light in fact mean sight so I'm siding with Matoya out right questioning Y'shtola sudden blindness. I know it's not her out right calling her blind but given the fact Y'shtola eyes are a milky white and the old witch finding it strange,I think the safe bet is cat girl is in fact blind in the way we see things.

balmung Looking for fellow wanders...
Asmodean replied to Asmodean's topic in Chronicled Connections
I'll keep my eyes open Nailah. After a quick glance from just your character's likes and dislikes it seem the two would be fast friends. -
The Roost was quite, much to the enjoyment of Asmodean. His hand still flared up in pain from the other day, and had caused him to be unable to do any form of training. The midlander sat, relaxed near the entrance, watching the comings and goings of other adventurer. A pair of tomes sat on the table, with an extra in his lap. When not watching other travelers, Asmo eyes dropped to the book in his lap before looking up to one of the tomes on the table. He then wrote down notes on the third empty tome. As countless travelers came thought the inn, Asmodean always made sure to look up for to make sure he wasn't being watched by anyone. He had after all made a bit of a name from himself over the past few years as a man willing to take just about any job. However his glances wore more about making sure no one was trying to sneak a peek at what he was writing. A few hours pasted, more glaces about the inn and a few mugs of ale helped him lose himself for a time. Night came quickly to the Shroud. Asmodean looked towards the entrance only to see the dark night greeting him. He sighed before closing all three tomes and packing them away, leaving a pair of letters having been hidden by the tomes on the table. He garbed the first and pulled a knife from his belt and carefully cut the seal open. He skimmed the letter quickly, a simple thank you for speaking at the Celebration of the Wanderer from Janics Milburga. He hadn't expected to receive a note fro what he had added but it brought a small smile to the worn traveler's face. He set it a side for the moment before taking the other letter and quickly skimmed it as well. Asmodean placed the letter aside, deep in thought. At worst I waste a few days heading to the city, not like there is a lot of work around these parts. He thought to himself before stand and sliding the letters in to his traveling pouch. He now traveled to the far north, something he thought he might never be able to do. Fate.... always a strange mistress.

Well a week of running through Hevensward on my main off sever, I noticed I have the better part of the coming week off. So It seem like a perfect time to get some more connections for Asmo. Asmodean Gaidin, a wandering sell-sword, has due to recent events come to the understanding that being a loner like he has been has not been for the best. So more or less it time make some friends and not the silent statue he has been for the most part. You'll find him wandering the areas of Hevensward for a while but you want to set up a meeting ooc feel free to post here, send a pm or whisper in game. Directory Link

Asmodean would be Bailey's. Easy to deal with at first on a surface level, but once you try to get to know him more, the more he pushes back.
-
I see this as the best way to handle level if your going to use them for role play with randoms. This would only really be a problem outside a group of friends, which shouldn't be surprising. Everyone has their own way to look at how to handle things like this. I'll use my own character as an example. 50 WAR so he knows how to fight with and against other ax user like the back of his hand, but at times his cockiness would get the better him in a fight if he let himself get full of himself. But for the most part he can hand himself as an equal at the very least. 41 NIN so he knows how to use knives well and has some skill with stealth so his he was to drop his heavy armor. 30 GLD He can swing the blade and know how to deflect attacks but can be easily overpowered. 22 PUP Punching thing is not hard to do and more or less meant to part of his willingness to do anything in a fight to survive a battle as needed. And then he started train with a lance before Hevensward came out. For the most part out side of him using an ax or knives, Asmodean will more then likely lose a fight but for rp sake it become a reason he could learn something he might not of thought about. IN a group that knows me they might be willing to let me get away with more but I should never expect a 60 PLD to lose a sword fight to my character.

I. Basic Info Characters: Asmodean Gaidin Primary character: Asmodean Gaidin Linkshells: None currently Primary RP linkshell: N/A II. RP Style Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): I would say I land between Mid to heavy closer to heavy on the scale. I try to give a lot of detail, like body language for my character as he speaks or when traveling the world. Views on RP combat and injuries: So long as Asmodean is not killed at the end unless we have already talked it out and I don't view what you are doing as god modding, bring whatever you have and throw it at him. I already have rp him carrying injuries from one even into another one after all. Views on IC romance: I'm all for it for but Asmodean current head space make it something one would have to work hard to get him to come around. Before warned, he's not just going to suddenly fall in love and really act on it unless the person in question knows him on a deep level. Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): When to comes to family I have to say no as his history is set in stone at this point but say a family like love is something I would be fine with. Views on lore: Lore should sever as a guild and not a unbinding thing to be used to help both myself and others to feel like we all really part of the world. I can accept bending here and there but never out right break from the lore. After all... I may be bending the lore a bit with Asmodean as it is. Views on chat functions (/say, /linkshell, etc): I feel more rp should be done in /say if it's more rp out in the open with someone else at random. /yell and emotes have their places clearly, but if the rp isn't meant to be a story heavy event for Asmodean or a friend of his in question, then it should always be open for others to join. III. Other Info Country:United States Timezone:EST Contact info:Send me a tell or mail in game or send me a PM on here. If you want my Skype or something else like that again, pm is the best way to get a hold of me.

Anyone else get a weird mortal kombat vibe from that? My friends and I call it a choppy Pokemon battle. They even take turns.
-
They are. Seeing as I was part of the most recent one, I could give a bit a background on them. The Celebration are a monthly think and each month is linked to one of the twelve. Last was the Wander, Oshon with July going to be the builder, Byregot. While they are meant to honor the god they celebrate, most seem to simply the event as a place to rp a bit here and there as a way to met a few new people you may other wise not. I went myself to see what it was like and stood doing little rp but saw how easily I could jump in if I want too. Now Asmodean while still not much of a talker will be more willing to talk to a few people he met due to the most recent one. But that is one thing to keep in mind, always be will to jump in, don't just stand around. Fortune favors the bold after all.

IF this has been done before I'm sorry but skimming over the six to seven pages I don't see any clear threads like this. With Hevensward we had a total of eleven known Primals, two of which are Eldervand one currently unknown due to the only knowledge of it comes from Coil turn 12. So of the eight normal Primals of Eorzea, which would you character willing work with or for? Please keep in mind to use spoiler tags as needed. Edit: I think this should go without saying but act as if primals like Garuda and Ifrit didn't try to temper your character on sight.

The Great Crash of '15 - Gripes and Rants Are Going Heavensward
Asmodean replied to Nero's topic in FFXIV Discussion
there is a 10 million gil cap on how much you can take with you. Odd... I heard it was a million plus 100k per retainer. Maybe it's linked to the sever your trying to transfer to. Well anyways I'm sure there are more then a fair number of players sit on 50 million plus. Also did they ever get to letting players from 1.0 transfer? I remember something about them not letting Legacy player transfer when they first starting to let players switch world. -
The Great Crash of '15 - Gripes and Rants Are Going Heavensward
Asmodean replied to Nero's topic in FFXIV Discussion
*Hides on his main on primal datacenter* I knew this would happen once I noticed it would be que every so often logging into Balmung. I'm sorry most of you have yet to enjoy the story or anything about Hevensward yet, but if you liked the post2.0 story, then know Hevensward will be well worth the wait. But I dod hope they lock Gil and Bal from any new characters for a while or offer free transfuses to new worlds. Can't have some of the riches players destroying the economy of low pop severs after all. -

Compliments Galore! Compliment The Poster Above You!
Asmodean replied to Y'lani's topic in Off-Topic Discussion
All of Ramuhnuh look quite interesting making me wish I had more time then the weekends to role play. May have to fix that with the week off I have coming up. -
Asmodean had little time to wonder as followed the tracks. Signs of fighting wore clear from the bloody snow along with more bodies. However the signs started to add up in a odd way for the hyur. The two sides had not attacked the other but more attacked by something else. As he walked the Gates of Judgement came into view, a battle still going on. Asmodean swung his ax from his back and rushed to get a better view of what was happening. He saw three Ishgardian fighting a single opponent armed with a ax. Whoever it was also wearing a similar armor as Asmodean was. The midlander tried to close the distance quickly but due to the snow he stumbled and lost time. He watched as the soldiers ware quickly cut down, the killer's ax cleaving through their armor as if it was nothing more then paper. The armored form looked out at Asmodean, ironclad head tipping to the side, almost in a questioning manner. As Amsodean neared he slowed himself, watching the killer. He wasn't sure who or what he was facing, so it was best to be careful. "So the boy thinks himself a man... funny." The armor form spoke as he watch the midlander. "Still lost and forgotten. He hunts for something, yet he knows not." "I have no idea who you are, or why you think you know me..." Asmodean tried to speak before being cut off. "You wore not told to speak. After all, how can one so lost know what he speaks." A smirk crossed the killer's face. Asmodean scowled, the man's words doing nothing but to annoy him. He readied his ax for an attack before the person spoke again. "Now the boy thinks himself a soldier. Lost and no one to help. How funny to watch as you struggle." Asmodean attacked in anger to quite the man as well as try to catch him off guard. The armored warrior simply step back, a laugh escaping him. "Blind to the dream, blind to the enemy and blind to himself. A fool if there was everyone." The warrior didn't move to attack, but to step back further away. Asmodean would finally notice something odd about the man. His eyes wore black, obsidian orbs. The midlander stepped back watching him again trying to understand what he was fighting. "Now the boy questions... too late for answers. The question aimed in the wrong direction." The warrior reached one handed for his visor, and slid it up. Asmodean was on shocked. It was like looking at a mirror, just with few slight different. His scars, the brown and gray hair even his shape of his face was the same. All that was different was the blacken orbs he had for eyes and a odd blacken mist that started to emanate. Asmodean stepped back, not sure what to do. "Fear.... the oldest and purest feeling boy. You are not the first to fear me. I doubt you will be the last." He took at step towards Asmodean but he didn't rise his ax. He loosened the chain on his left arm and flung it at the midlander. Asmodean reacted simply lifting his he arm and blocked the chain thinking he was trying to wrap him up. He didn't notice the spiked tip until it ripped thought his gauntlet and hand entirely. Asmodean fell backwards pulling himself away from the killer. "A pact... One she became infatuated with for a time. What will your fate be, I wonder? Become a killer like her... or let those friends try to keep you....you?" The blacken eye man asked before pulling the chain back painfully. The shock woke Asmodean up. He looked about himself, expecting to see the snow and blood covered highlands but sighed as he saw the forest of the shroud. He looked to the sky and saw it was night with the moon high in the sky. He must of been asleep close to half a sun, the man assumed. He looked at the lighter leather armor he was wearing before reaching for the lance off to his side. As he closed his hand, he winched in pain. I was asleep.... there is no way. He thought as he removed the glove from his right hand. A bleeding wound sat in the middle of his palm with a matching wound on the back of his hand. He pulled a cotton cloth from his travel pack and wrapped the wound in disbelief. Asmodean got to his feet still starring at his hand. He grabbed the lance with his good hand before noticing a few letters. He scooped them up and started on his way back to Gridania. He looked at his hand confused by it and the dream. He shook his head. Lack of sleep was what caused that... must of grabbed the lance head in my sleep He thought trying to reassure himself. he didn't then think about how the glove wasn;t damaged or bloody. He couldn't. As he walked the looked at the letters, one was about the gathering he had spoke at, the others a massage from House Fortemps. The notes help him forget the nightmare and the taunting voice for a time. Blind. Once a fool always a fool. A voice echoed in the back of his head. Asmodean needed help... but who could he trust?
-
The midlander had finally forced himself to sleep. Taking up the lance was has the man needed to finally tire himself out. Asmodean toss and turned a bit as he sat against the Lifemend Stump. The training lance was bloody and a few yalms from his reach. Thick bags formed under his eyes, clearly showing he had not gotten a wink of sleep in a number of suns. A few mumbles escaped his mouth but never too loudly. His resting mind was far more chaotic then the peaceful forest he currently slept. Snow, blood and plums of smoke filing the sky. Asmodean looked about himself, wondering how he was arrived in Coerthas, let alone deep down in the witch drop. He wearing his heavy fighter armor and even had his trusty Eisentaenzer. None of this made any sense to the mindlander. However, as the smell of smoke and iron slowly came to his nose, it began to matter less as to him something was worse then his confusion. The man made for the trail leading back up to Dragonhead, only to be greeted by the sight of the once mighty stronghold in ruins. He entered the camp quickly only to find bodies strewn about the grounds, many bearing signs of claws marks or slashing marks. "There... there is no way dragons could do this and escape without so much as not losing one of their number." He said to himself looking about. No bodies of any kind of dragon kin wore viable but scales littered the ground. He made his way towards the keep but already knew it to be too late. Thick bellows of blackened smoke flowed out the broken remains of the wooden door. Asmodean shook his head before turning to look up at the Aetheryte, his gaze moving from the crystal to the battlement of the high walls. More bodies and blood, not a single sign of life. The midlander started to check the bodies for a plush but as he wandered from one to the next, his only reward was to bloody his armor. Asmodean sighed, never thinking he might see Dragonhead in such a state. But not all seemed lost as he noticed a set of tracks leading to Whitebrim. The warrior seeing nothing he could do here set out to find whoever made that tracks, but paused only just outside of walls of Dragonhead. more then two dozen corpse of dragons lay, craved to pieces by blade and not fell by lance. THe way the remains lay made it seem they wore running or trying to get away. Asmodean began to wonder. What wore the running from? ((OOC: I'm still quite rusty as a writer so any pointers to help better myself are more then welcome, be it pm or post here. This is going to a two part story for my character as a way to lead him to Ishgard after the last two event he has been a part of. Had this already typed out so I figure let some people read it can tell me where I can improve before writing the rest after I return from work.))

As I posted elsewhere Asmo would be at home with Qestir due him finding action more important then words. Having grown up in Ul'dah, he knows how easily some people lie.He would also take to protecting the weaker tribes like the Hotgo and the Kahkol. Tribes he would openly dislike or even attack would be Buduga, Jhungid, Kharlu, Tumet and the Dotharl. Jhungid and the Kharlu would be hated for fighting needless wars that neither side could really have a decisive victory. Asmo would hate the Buduge due to the kidnapping to increase it's ranks. Tumet would be tied as the most hated tribe due way it handles the coming of age for it young. In his mind there is no reason to ever do something like making someone so young to have to under go something like having to break some binding and then find their tribe again elsewhere. Dotharl.... what can be really said that no one else might think. Needless killing, attack others on sight, too much for Asmodean to hate. Hell the only thing he might respect to a point is the lack of fear of death. Off topic here but I better see a few Bard Qalli wondering around.
-
Well now.... Asmodean is going to be buddys with anyone from the Qestir caln if he meets them. Only different is he tries to talk if needed. just not very well in large groups.

Edgar is one of the few people to make me laugh out loud. Good job... and keep it up. everyone needs a good laugh. -
It'd make a interesting short story thats for sure. I think it would be pure chaos. I'd love it but so many people. :dazed:

This is one of the things I have to agree with. I always see it as with age come the experience to handle combat. So I don't care how good someone thinks there character is, if the opponent training is more then twice then long as yours, at least make it a hard up hill battle. Asmodean has 4 or so year with his ax, if I was to fight a hellsguard with more then ten years under his belt, you better believe it would be luck not skill that makes Asmo win.
