There was plenty to go on when 1.0 came out, even in beta, as the naming conventions were definitely present and in use in the game world. They just weren't published. If you ran around and looked at all the NPC names you could easily tell what was consistently "Seawolf" or "Keeper", etc. People just missed that entirely and did whatever they wanted, then later exclaimed they had nothing to go on, which wasn't true at all.

I was just posting that devs confirmed X'nath's speculation about Raen, nothing about Xaela, then you quoted me and responded about how you were waiting on Xaela lore. That's fine if you are, but it literally had nothing to do with my post whatsoever.

Devs confirmed that Raen follow Doman naming conventions (basically archaic Japanese names).

I made a speculative naming convention thread in my impatience for the Au Ra. I think it's a little more complicated than just picking some Japanese names, as all the Doman's have very archaic, out of common use Japanese names or some derivative of it. You could try some variation of Touka, which can be written 藤花 to mean wisteria flower.

It would be extremely easy to filter the options based on face/horns combination. What I don't know is how that combination is being built by the engine. It's either a conscious design choice so that one or two particular faces don't become the only face we ever see, or it's a limitation born from mishandled rendering code that was deemed not worth fixing, whether that mishandling is model or memory related I have no idea.

No worries, I'm just interested in metrics. I'm not offended that people are not interested in role playing Au Ra.

I imagine links to an FC website don't count, that would be enforcing the letter of the law without regard to its intent, and the admins are better than that.

As interesting as Rakka'li may or may not have been, he had become completely un-fun to RP due to a number of issues that I'm reluctant to get into here. My decision to off him was not made lightly and hardly rushed. In fact I had quit RPing in XIV altogether four months before I decided to main an Au Ra or kill him off. =/

At this point I kind of wish we could have a moratorium on this discussion. This is a site about RPing in XIV. Devs don't read this site. Rpers are a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of the game population. There's an entire official forum that IS read by the devs. Here this discussion has just become a tedious debate about something none of our words here will have any effect on. I suppose we're really here to argue rather than build RP connections.

I'm curious how many intend to roll alts vs. RP them as their main.

I still believe the hype will die off and they won't end up being as popular in the long term as Miqo'te.
