  1. I've only seen it a handful of times myself, thankfully. One of those really was the "I was playing around in my alchemy lab and accidentally fantasia'd myself and now I'm a miqo'te girl oh nooooOOO" kind of situation. I won't cite names or times so as to avoid being accused of slander or something ridiculous like that.
  2. I was just being silly, it's kind of surprising to see the same spread among Castlevania fans over which games are good or ok or total crap. It's the sort of diversity you usually only see in the Final Fantasy franchise. I think we can all agree that Igavania is where it's at.
  3. We'll just have to disagree there, while Lord of Shadows was an ok God of War clone that wasn't my cup of tea, at least it wasn't the shit that Judgement was.
  4. It's not like Eorzea has a social security registration system. Most people can't read or write, so as a consequence most people are not that great at keeping records. Otto just starts introducing himself as Nunh and deals with the raised eyebrows. He'll probably have to inform all of his business contacts with some document, but I doubt there's any administration that handles names.
  5. What's wrong with Shanoa? She was awesome. OoE is the best after Symphony in my mind. Never been a character I could respect, Also castlevania Judgement may have made that relationship even worse. Would sooner show love to Sonia belmont Whoa whoa, you're actually acknowledging that Judgement exists? What is wrong with you!?

  7. No one is saying you can't RP your character growing, putting on weight, getting a tan, being injured, following a new deity, etc. They're saying that not everyone might be accepting of the canon that you IC used a fantasia potion to make your height taller. Something like that depends on the player. Some folks might still RP fantasia potions, other folks might not. It all comes down to preference. Frankly it's coming across to me as a straw-man fabrication designed to paint those who frown on casual fantasia use as extremist elitists that will go out their way to bully other RPers. I have a really hard time swallowing the notion that there's a significant number of RPers calling out others over weight change, sun tans, scars, or their faith changing.
  8. This. I go further and think that tendencies of the role play community at large do not change the lore. This means that despite the popularity of some races over others this doesn’t change the lore about those races; Miqo’te males are rare despite their popularity in the community. Literacy is the exception, not the norm, despite most characters being able to read. White Mages are not common, no matter how many people role-play them, etc. I'm sure there are some who disagree and prefer a community generated "continuity", but that style certainly isn't for me.
  9. I have never seen anyone be this ridiculous. I've seen Fantasia used (in my opinion) well, when having a young character add some height (and ahh.. mass, if you know what I mean) over a year and a half.
  10. No, it's not low tier at all. Fantasia existing causes many problems in the lore and story that are simply ignored - and now we know why, because it was a meta-item that facilitated game mechanics and doesn't exist in the setting. Sylphs, the Hildebrand plot, dragons shapeshifting, and Ysayle are all cohesive within the story and do not cause the sort of problems that fantasia did, no matter what words you choose in a poor attempt to present them as just as ridiculous as the presence of fantasia. Why would Yugiri hide her face rather than just drink a fantasia? Why wouldn't anyone who wanted to escape notice or deceive someone simply use one to change who they are? Why would we never hear about one being used in the lore, ever? It being "legendary and super rare" doesn't explain enough, and furthermore it just puts it into the territory of Rping a WHM or the Azure Dragoon. Regardless of whatever excuses we come up, fantasia thankfully are not lore by Word of God. I'm not judging anyone who used it in RP - I in fact acknowledged it on a few occasions rather than halt RP so I can fruitlessly lecture people about deductive reasoning, and really I couldn't say for sure they weren't, I just really felt it didn't make any sense for them to exist, no matter how I reasoned through it.
  11. Then why did anyone need to ask? Because many people are terrible at deductive reasoning. So nothing short of Word of God proving a negative will sway them. Edit: They're also terrible at accepting being wrong, so I fully expect to see this ignored and fantasia to remain RP'd during "hilarious" alchemy accidents that leave people "unfortunately" stuck as a Lalafell/Miqo'te for a week.
  12. You didn't need clairvoyance to come to the conclusion that fantasia was just a game mechanics item and not lore.
  13. Using fantasia in RP confirmed to be lore breaking. I know this won't stop anyone. But it's good to see a dev response to justify keeping it out of my own RP circles and ignoring it, rather than just rely on sound reasoning.
  14. Thicker shields and breastplates aren't enough explanation because Garleans don't have just gun blades. They have very modern ballistics, and even "sci-fi" style beam weapons and robots. I don't think we can reason away why the Garleans simply haven't stomped everyone into oblivion without including a magical component that allows a sword or shield to be effective against them.
  15. Firearms have been around a while in Eorzea and Garlemald, yet despite that medieval style arms and armor are still widely used and shown to be effective at staving off a Garlean assault. In reality, Limsa and Garlemald would be the ultimate military powers in the world given their access to firearms. In my own head-canon the only way I can reason why they are not is that aether allows people to put medieval arms and armor to use in a way that they can stand against firearms. I don't expect we'll ever get a straight answer about it, but rule of cool is definitely being put to use here.
  16. For those who may be stressing about leveling alts for Heavensward, YoshiP confirmed in this interview that story quests from 2.0 will give double experience and better item rewards. So it might not be such a bad idea to wait.
  17. That isnt what I mean by normal sexual mores. By weird I mean something like the Tia/Nunh dynamic and Keeper promuscuity. Homosexuality isn't weird to RPers and is something the average RPer understands and accepts totally. The weird sexual mores that miqo'te have were simply too strange or unsettling for most to wrap their head around, let alone RP competently.
  18. And here's why I hope that Au Ra have nuclear families and completely "normal" sexual mores. lol
  19. That's part of what makes Miqo'te so interesting, though, especially on the Keeper side of things. And it also made RPing them a nightmare, as the vast majority either ignored the interesting stuff because it offended their real life sensibility or used the interesting stuff as a flimsy excuse for fetish. There's a reason I stopped RPing one. Way off topic, so that's all I'll say on the matter.
  20. Them having weird sexual mores like Miqo'te is my biggest fear. Please no.
  21. The didn't, it just stated their motif was demonic and that people speculate they are related to dragons, but scholars disagree. I think they're being deliberately mysterious, we may never know for sure. Au Ra are Au Ra.
  22. What are you basing this on? I can definitely see Xaela not living as long due to the warlike nature, but where did aging 1.5 times faster come from? The 1.5 is slower aging not faster..so they would live longer. This a guess since SE stated they are demon rather then dragon. Of course this is my idea of their aging process being pulled from other games where half breeds are involved. This is nothing in stone and only a thought, which is why I wanted to bring this topic at hand so something can be properly brainstormed on their age while we wait for SE to release information. You're going about your expressions oddly is all. 1.5 the normal rate would be the normal rate and half again as fast (for example 10 x 1.5 = 15). If you meant it to be slower you'd want to say 0.5 the normal rate or something. As for your aging speculation, what happens in other games has ZERO bearing on the lore here. Additionally Au Ra are their own distinct race and not a half-breed. I wouldn't hold your breath about SE releasing that much detail about racial biology. We actually have no word from them on how long any race lives other than Elezen and Lalafell being longer lived. I get that you're wanting to speculate but try not present it as brainstorming to fill lore gaps that may never ever be filled on SE's part. We don't get to decide the lore, we just interpret it.
  23. What are you basing this on? I can definitely see Xaela not living as long due to the warlike nature, but where did aging 1.5 times faster come from?
  24. I'd assume it's a "normal" life span unless SE states otherwise.
