  1. Her face does look very different from the one that is certainly a Miqo'te child. Her attire, face shape, stubby tail, lack of guardian, presence in Idyllshire, and the comment... I can't help but lean towards her being a Lalafell/Miqo'te hyrbid.
  2. They're effectively Doman, so any lore tidbits that we pick up in the story regarding Domans probably apply to them. But unfortunately we don't have more than that really.
  3. I attempted to duty finder A1 four times before giving up and going with friends, so I think those of you that went in and cleared in one or two shots were probably just lucky.
  4. Some lucky poop-socking players with no connection issues had i170 shortly after the end of early access. They deliberately delayed the release of Alexander to specifically deter this kind of behavior and stop poop-socking players from pressuring more relaxed players to skip all cut-scenes and race to cap. Are you really using the character he RPs against him in an OOC discussion? Also, you arn't even 60 yet... you can't do Alexander or wear AF anyway.
  5. You might as well wait unless you set up a group to farm it weekly for the drops you need. We've got a six month gap before the next part and in a month everyone will be geared to the point that all these duty finder bads have forgotten how many times they failed and assert that it's "too easy".
  6. Ramuh Extreme at its introduction was way harder than A4. Though I still wouldn't want to try it with randoms.
  7. Ah, so soft indoctrination, the carrot, not the stick. The Razings are the stick. Doesn't strike me as particularly nefarious. It's not just beastmen that can summon primals, educating people that primals are bad, and that they shouldn't pray to them or summon them. It's hard to get adults to change, but they at least get the next generation. Eh. Ehhhhh. It's really analogous to the "schools" that Native American children were forcibly sent to. I think we can agree those were not okay. That's hardly enough reason to revolt! /s
  8. In regard to Garlean occupation of Doma, I doubt being occupied by them was a day to day struggle of violence with a boot on your neck, but I also doubt it's a wholly pleasant experience that you wouldn't seek to escape from. Certainly there were Doman collaborators and rebels both, even if day to day life was calm. That's how I'm writing my Raen's experiences growing up in the occupation.
  9. Whether the burden is light or not, or the reasoning was just doesn't matter, I was only contesting the idea that it was because they felt like it, which on it's own was a ridiculous oversimplification of what happened. You and I clearly read history very differently so I don't see much point in continuing the discussion. Garlemald is analogous to Rome, but that doesn't mean they're exactly the same as Rome. I doubt being occupied by them is a day to day struggle of violence with a boot on your neck, but I also doubt it's a wholly pleasant experience that you wouldn't seek to escape from. Certainly there were Doman collaborators and rebels both, even if day to day life was calm. That's how I'm writing my Raen's experiences growing up in the occupation.
  10. We have no idea if/when any atrocities came at all and we certainly have no idea if peoples conquered by Garleans are happy about it. What actually happened with Roman history again does mean the same things happened with Garleans. My point is if things were so great under Garlean rule, then why a risky rebellion after a generation of peace? Prosperity trumps pride, so something must have been going on. The Xaela fled the Garleans west from Othard for a reason too.
  11. If they're exactly the same then the gift of an aqueduct/airship or two would seem a small thing compared to the atrocities endured. So in the end my point remains I guess. The Domans didn't revolt because their lives were too rosy.
  12. "What did the Garleans ever done for us?" "...Airships?" "Right ok, I'll give you airships." While they're inspired by the Romans, Garleans are not Romans. One of their main goals is the eradication of primals through genocide of the people or beastmen who bring them forth. They're crueler than Romans by far, and they were plenty cruel on their own, gladiator games, slavery, proscription and religious oppression.
  13. There must have been some level of oppression going on, if not there would be little incentive to rebel after 20+ years.
  14. I've had a few get ticked at me for not heeding them, not many.
  15. I don't tell people they can't do thought emotes, but I do tell them not to get mad because I don't RP my character as privy to them.
  16. They won't change, since they chronologically happen before Heavensward.
  17. DPS players who leveled a Dark Knight because OMG DARK KNIGHT SO EDGE to 60 and have no idea how to tank fudging up other's expert roulette. Please remember you don't like tanking and go back to being a DPS, there's a reason you're most comfortable in that role. Because when tanks and healers are bad it's immediately apparent and/or the entire group wipes, when DPS are bad they can fly under the radar and most of the time, remain an eye rolling inconvenience. So go back to being that inconvenience so you don't end up a headache.
  18. To be fair, you can't make a convincing older looking female Miqo'te either, at best they look adult, and far from a middle aged one. They just look like a young person that went gray way early.
  19. Good ones posted already, more than once. Here's one, roleplayers who are drama "arsonists". They log on every night with a new completely dramatic situation that demands everyone's attention RIGHT NOW, over and over again. Until nothing is going on except whatever tragedy is going on with that person in that given moment. They put their character in life threatening danger over and over again to remain the "star of the show". First night it's a broken arm, next they started a fight that nearly got them killed, a third they're in trouble for stealing the Sultana's nightcap and need you to break them out, and so on and so forth. Another, roleplayers I call "appropriaters". They never noticed how interesting a certain part of the lore could be in roleplay until they see you using it for your character. Suddenly they're incorporating the same thing into their own character, except there's is way more better than yours at it. They don't just interpret the will of elementals, elementals follow them around and chat about the weather with them, or intervene to protect them from harm, leaving something you've been roleplaying a year as an insignificant footnote. I guess my "pet peeve" can be summed up as selfish people who role play.
  20. If it's for a fanfic that's going to be written in English I'd just stay with the English dialogue and not worry about what's going on in the Japanese language script. If you try to make it modern or use a "literal translation" of what's being said in the Japanese version it will be unreadable or so strange that people will be put off and stop reading. The fans who read it are in the majority going to find the English script more familiar, thus your fanfic will feel more authentic if you use it. Not using it will get people to shelve it. Other than that there's really no easy way to go about comparing it other than re-watching the cutscenes with the client set to Japanese - you do this by clicking the dropdown marked "English" in the launcher's bottom right corner and selecting Japanese instead. This will set the language of all the text in the client to Japanese. EDIT: Referring to using a "literal translation" for dialogue being strange or unreadable, I mean instead of people asking "Is aught amiss?" as they do in the English version they might say "Something is yes wrong?"
  21. I struggle to find the logic in why one less metric would make the poll MORE informative.
  22. Hello RPCers, For a long while now I have been brooding over the details of a long term plot for my new Free Company Sidereal and now that we know more about Astrologian lore I am able to make decisions about the core of this plot and actively seek others who may be interested. Compared to launch the feel of later 2.X updates and the Heavensward expansion is increasingly epic in scale, and because of that my own roleplay interests have also shifted in that direction. With that shift came a desire for something long term, something “main scenario esque” on a personal scale, without touching the main scenario quest itself. While creating this plot I came up with several rules that it must adhere too, with the philosophy that while it’s alright to bend the lore, we should never break it: It cannot match or near the importance of the official Main Scenario Quest. It cannot make assumptions regarding details related to the Main Scenario Quest. Its influence on the setting shall never be so great as to render roleplay with outsiders impossible. It must not focus on any one individual character (no lost scion of an ancient power or important lineage, no G'raha Tia type characters unless it's a plot NPC), individuals may be important to the story, but never in a way that it cannot carry on without them. Its exact details will remain vague so they may be adapted as new lore is released. It cannot reference any elements used by other Final Fantasy games, as they may be adapted in later game updates (no Esper world from VI, no Lunarians from IV, etc). Keeping these rules in mind has proved easier than I originally thought, and I plan to adhere to them throughout, and I intend for that throughout to be a very long throughout.
