  1. Welcome to the RPC X'yue, Please take a look at the forums and the wiki if you want to read up on anything. The Calendar lists most of the public events hosted if you'd like to drop in and visit. Drop in the Linkshell hall and maybe message a few people if you see any communities that catch your eye. Eorzea is a big place so feel free to ask any questions you might have, both here and in-game if you prefer. Best of luck in your journey!
  2. Just a last minute bump that this is imminent!
  3. Hello Sun! (One of my favorite Hemingway novels) Welcome to the RPC! you mentioned taking a look around the forums, and I highly suggest continuing that to poke around the forums here. We have a linkshell Hall above with a list of communities that you might take interest in (it hosts both LS' and FCs'). A player maintained wiki as well as an IC publication "The lantern". For a little more in depth description of it all feel free to click on the "Welcome" panel on the front page, it links to a post set up by the moderators describing some of the sites features. The RPC has quite the database of knowledge, from Evas RP handbook, to the Calendar listing of events. Its all open for you to use, and don't hesitate to ask any questions you might have. Sounds like you have a firm idea of where you want your character to go, Best of luck in your adventure, and I hope to see you in Eorzea! ((Edited for clarity))
  4. A quick note on the "spamming Cure + Cure2" if you check the "Traits" panel. You'll notice "Free cure" and "Over cure" which lend themselves to chain casting Cure, then bumping up to the next level when its free or an emergency. If I can suggest something, Get Thaumaturge to 26 when you have the chance. You gain the ability "Swift Cast" allowing for one instant cast ability once per 60 seconds which can be quite the boon. (I also grabbed Virus from ARC and Sure Cast from THM to aid in debuffing and interrupt prevention.)
  5. Tinkerbell, carrying Garuda runs since 2013'
  6. Just a quick follow up, i'd like to add about Tank skill, they are notorious at lower levels for bad positioning, moving while fighting, having mobs behind them ect. I recommend, if possible asking the Tank to wait after the first engagement, and maybe bringing up that he should be staying still and keeping all enemies in front of him. (except when catching aggro, dodging, ect.)
  7. Liliths going to answer on my behalf because i'm in a dungeon. Sorry, i'll make sure to add something if she's a complete EJ about it
  8. Shammy heals/Disc Priest reporting I'll post when i'm done in ST D: TLDR Not crazy
  9. Hello Teuto, Currently the only FFXIV soundtrack available offically is for 1.0 named "Before Meteor" and Squeenix is very active in removing copy righted content. (part of the reason the one I linked hasn't been taken down is the host is very active as well in arguing fair use terms, but thats another issue.) If like me you are okay with a certain moral Grey area, you can find a Rip of the BETA sound files with a whole host of things buried in it. I won't link directly to it, but I can say ( http://lmgtfy.com/?q=FFXIV+ARR+OST+Torrent ). I don't intend that sarcastically although the link is usually used that way. Hope that helps!
  10. Happy to help Tobias, And I agree Haven, it was creepy, if you care I'll describe a bit of what the world was like (for me) during the closing weeks. A bit of setting I played 1.0 on Sarganates since Beta and while the game did have many flaws, I enjoyed it, it reminded me of Everquest, the world was large, with many secrets, when Yoshi-P took over it felt like the ball was rolling in the right direction. I enjoy 2.0 no doubt, but 1.0 Thanalan had many cave systems that existed for no more reason than people like me to venture through (or atleast thats what it felt like at the time). The Black Mage story line at the time had you sneaking past monsters much higher level than you could reasonably fight (70~ iirc.) But anyways. ((EDIT: threw together a small album of 1.0 Screen shots, I have tons :< http://imgur.com/a/MukMd )) I can hardly do it justice, but that is a glimpse of what it was like for me. A combination of frustration, fighting against a fate that seemed inevitable, but also exhilarating, the land was changing, we were changing. I fought for Eorzea, and with those memories, I fight even harder now, in fact its what inspired my signature tag.
  11. I RP my Legacy Chocobo as an IC mount separate from my regular chocobo, he was the one with me from "before Dalamund" though I don't disclose that, I instead explain that he is a loyal steed that I trust only when I feel I need the utmost cunning and guile to see me though a moment. I try to let him rest when I can as hes earned it and instead use my "new" chocobo, who I do care for greatly, for the more "mundane" tasks, and who is more often out afield with me. I've also seen a few IC Gobbues (though I haven't made that jump myself) which have pretty good explanations as the quest for them was reasonable at the time. Mostly Grindanians, which kind of makes sense...
  12. Welcome to the RPC U'roh, Good to to hear you've had the chance to explore the world a bit. Eorzea is defiantly a place with much to offer if you're willing to take the time to observe it all. I also, spent time in Barton town, but that was years ago now, and though I wasn't looking for things along the lines of most of the trends found there, some of the groups we're quite good and the habit of linking OOC threads to the main one made it pretty easy to keep in contact with people. Feel free to avail yourself of the whole RPC, the wiki, Lantern, Linkshell Hall and more are all here to help you connect, interact and facilitate your narrative. Ask any questions you might have, maybe shoot me a message in game if that's more your style. See you in Eorzea!

    Hello!

Welcome to the RPC Psy, As the others have said, there's plenty to do here so feel free to get familiar with the wiki, maybe read Eva's RP handbook, take a look at some outside websites maybe (http://xivwiki.com/Main_Page ). Make a day of it! Feel free to ask any questions you might have here or in the forum post about their particular topic. You can of course also ask people about their linkshells and FC's in the Linkshell hall postings above. Take a gander at the Lantern if you'd like to read some IC articles. Hope to see you around in Eorzea before too long, and good to see that you've made a point of running the benchmark!
  14. As the others have said, welcome to the RPC Xerali, A small note, your character pane still says you're on Gilgamesh. ((EDIT: looks like that was fixed, never mind!)) Hope you've had the chance to traipse around and meet some people in game, there's of course the Linkshell hall for anything you're looking for group related. Please ask any questions you might have, express any concerns. See you around Eorzea!
  15. /salute Nice to see another Lurker join the ranks officially, so welcome to the RPC Prido. I suppose you know the drill, but feel free to make yourself at home, ask questions, post a wiki if you'd like, take a gander at the Lantern, ask questions the usual fair. Thanks for taking time to join us!

    who?

Hello Bandit, If you're looking for groups to join feel free to look through the Linkshell directory, the two primary servers listed are Balmung and Gilgamesh, but there are entries under "Other" that you can take a peek at. I don't know of any on Diablos (though I don't know lots, so maybe there's one i'm missing!.) Remember to ask any questions you have, i'll do my best to answer them, the RPC has a whole host of knowledge and tools at your disposal. Good luck on your journey through Eorzea!
  17. Welcome to the RPC Cedric, Both Gilgamesh and Balmung have strong RP communities, so it looks like you did well in your server choices. A small note about the RPC, the groups been around for quite some time so you'll find a nice mix of old blood and new here. If you want to know a bit more about the communities you might meet I would check out the Linkshell hall. There's the Wiki and Server directories for character information/profiles. The Lantern is an IC publication, and the Calendar lists events (though there are some unlisted within the server specific forums as well.) The links on the front page such as the RP handbook are an excellent resource if you want to know a little more about RP in general (although it sounds like you have a firm grasp.) please let me know if you have any questions, feel free to poke around and make comments, twelve knows there are all types of conversations here so you're bound to find something that interests you. See you in Eorzea!
  18. Good to hear that you're making some inroads in to developing your character, there's a lot to draw from, be it in game, the wiki, or just life around you to help inspire what persona you want to put out into the work. Most of my influence is drawn from novels i've read/am reading.
  19. Good to hear that you had the chance to see it, while the 3rd event is not yet scheduled, the doors are open to any who desire to attend. Hope you see many others along your journeys, Eorzea is a wide world, but there are many people filling it.
  20. Greeting Unseen, While I don't know of any Pirate theme off handed, I can offer some suggestions as to the morally ambiguous, partly because thats where I fall as well. http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/showthread.php?tid=4838 Might interest you depending on how you want to play your characters past. Though I don't know them much I have had the opportunity of skulking around when A few have gone about their business and it was interesting without being contrived. http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/showthread.php?tid=2231 There Linkshell posting information does them more justice than I ever could. This might play well into a stricter military desire. http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/showthread.php?tid=2212 Speaks for itself, they make interesting appearances, not everyones style, but I enjoy the diversity they bring to the table, and willingness to speak their mind without much formality. Though of course members do not always reflect their Organization, so I could very well be speaking out my arse. Perhaps that will help set you on your way. I make of effort of treading the middle ground between groups so I don't always know the intricacies of their inner workings, or the content of character for the bulk of their members. Best of luck in your search and please let me know if you have any questions.
  21. Oh by Bryegot this is an entertaining thread, I've had a few, in various settings, perhaps most commonly was WoW because as many may or may not know, you needed to be in a Raid group to enter certain instances, and I always loved meandering around Karazhan. A guildie (lets call him J-kun) often indulged me by letting me sit in group with him while he crafted and auction housed to his hearts content. I would invite others from time to time but often he'd remain ignoring our shenanigans (which were minimal since you could just use /say once they showed up inside the area.) But lo' and behold, some days I seem not to be blessed with that level of competence. Quarimar in raid: "Oh. we're already inside, just let us know when you show up." Friend 1 in raid: "alright, i'll be there shortly, just landing in the swamp right now" Friend 2 (in the dungeon with me) in raid chat: "Take your time, its not like Nightmare has a despawn timer. Speaking of which, who's the 4th wheel? friend of yours?" J-kun in raid: "Yeah, I just help him with his time sinks." Friend 1 in local chat: "Oh ho? I bet he also helps you 'lay some pipe' a nice big strong Orc is exactly what you need." Quarimar in raid: "HARDLY. I might want to jump his proverbial bones, and I'll admit I like the shade of green, but do you have any idea how hard it is to find an Orc who speaks clearly? I prefer better conversation not just grunting and shouts." Needles to say I was mortified, particularly because he asked for context and the rest of the party had obliged, evidently he didn't know I swung that way. I was vindicated how ever, when 1&2 proceeded to lose the roll for Nightmare SO HA. In the context of FFXIV, I was having a discussion on dyes over /tell, deciding and debating what clashed with what, when I accidentally put in in /say. We just continued on with it through /say, but I face-palmed pretty hard when a stranger decided to start commenting as well. Besides, bright Yellow on robes for a Thaumaturge? I'm not looking for subtlety, but I think it hardly fitting.
  22. Greetings and welcome to the RPC Mhina, Nice to hear you already have some groups in game you're working with. Its so much easier to get rolling when you already have your foot in the door and can use people you know to network into different groups. You mentioned English as a second language and its interesting as a I learned two growing up. In game I can end up being confronted with having (what I think) a brilliant phrase in french, then i'll spend time trying to translate it while retaining the same flow and message. Its an interesting circumstance. If you have the chance please take a look around the site and get familiar with what tools might interest you. Perhaps a column on the Lantern, or a character profile on the wiki. The Event calendar is always handy to keep in mind when both planning and even and deciding which one to attend. The RPC's here to help, so ask any questions you might have and we'll do our best to answer them, Hope to see you in Eorzea soon!
  23. Not a problem, here to help. You can reach me here of course or send me a tell in game if you prefer discussing things there. Good luck and good hunting!
  24. Hello and welcome to the RPC Khuja'to Sounds like you have a solid mechanical background to work off of which is more than many started with! as a note about "free form emotes" the command is "/em " which will appear as (for example) "Quarimar Baenund " in the light blue that denotes the standard emotes. You mentioned lurking which is an excellent way to learn, I hope you've had the chance to see some people in game that you might have learned about here. You can of course pester us on the Linkshell posting themselves if you want to get to know anyone or group in particular more. For a general overview of Roleplaying, look no further than the RP handbook made by Eva on the front page, a wealth of knowledge without much equal. Hope to see you around in Eorzea, please ask any questions you might have and i'll do my best to address them!
  25. Greetings Izzy, Welcome to the RPC! Here's a link to the offical forums lore post about Miqo'te naming conventions. http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/61150-Miqo-te-Naming-Conventions If you have the chance, take a look at some of the links on the front page like Eva's RP handbook to get a in depth guide to roleplay across the realm, it covers most of the major bases and provides and excellent foundation. I recommend enough taking a look at the linkshell hall and the wiki as well, they both offer knowledge as to the groups and peoples involved in Eorzea. You can message people on the linkshell postings themselves, and the wiki (if you like) could be a home for your own character profile and works as you come to get a solid idea of who and what you'll be. Feel free to ask lots of questions, raise some concerns! I'll do my best to help as I can. Best of luck in Eorzea Izzy.
