  1. Hmmm all three interesting ideas, I especially like the idea of works referencing each other as is so common IRL. A few things I think that should be considered. Primal summoning raised drastically since the crash of the Aegis at Mor Dhona during the Garlean invasion following Ala Mhigos suppression. While I don't doubt that the book or at least an effort on Primal research made, i'm unsure how much beyond supposition it would contain. Perhaps we should add a Tag Out of character of how fictitious the book is? (though how seriously its taken in character is left up to the player.) The point that brings it up, is though Ifrit raises as a near direct result of the long standing Ul'dahn conflict with the Amal'ja, and Gardua due to her feather brained band of misfits, I think certain primals (Titan/Levithan/Rahmuh) have maintained a fairly low profile. I still think its a good idea, maybe it could be expanded as a study of the beast folk tribes on a general level? A note on Gelmorra (You can read about it in detail here http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Gelmorra) Gelmorra was at its height during the 6th umbral era, before the founding of Gridania, which I would assume occurred during prior to the founding and habitation of the (in its early stages) purely lalafelln' Ul'dah. Though the information I have to back up that order of events is tenuous. Perhaps Sil'dih could be supplemented? (It being currently in ruins) If using the suggestion of Out of Character tagging intentional misinformation, you could add that while the properties of Aether mayn't have changed, the focuses of it certainly have since the calamity. (And if you're as fond of extrapolation as I am, they've likely changed at every major event, possibly as both cause and effect?) Just some food for thought, all very interesting how ever.
  2. Hello Jehino, Welcome to the RPC, Not sure if you know much about the Coalition but if your interested feel free to ask and i'll do my best explaining what I can, with that out of the way. If your looking to set up an Eorzean Free company (or linkshell) feel free to take a look at the Linkshell hall (linked along the top bar) for a synopsis of what groups already exist, might provide an idea or two, maybe work alongside a group in your efforts. (such as the Intermission, the OOC linkshell, thats at its 3rd sub set iirc.) If you'd like to know more about the members themselves I can hardly suggest a better resource than the Wiki (aside from speaking to them in game of course), a concentrated outpouring of player efforts in their own characters and stories. There is also of course the Forums with a plethora of threads about nearly every topic you can imagine, I hope some of them will provide entertainment or maybe answer a question or two you might not had thought of. On a closing note, if you're interested in attending any upcoming events you can take a look at the "Calendar" (and post to it, its public). We had a few events pass recently that went spectacularly, though I can only really comment on the Coffer and Coffin night, an open event for introducing new and old players to each other. OH and I would be remiss if I didn't mention the "Lantern" an open news paper of sorts, taking a gander can do it far more justice than I can. That covers... well, not much to be honest. Eorzea is old, large and a not so tiny bit ridiculous, hope to see you (and your group) out and about!
  3. /salute Welcome to the RPC Desdea . Looks like you've got some experience to rely on and I hope you have the chance to put it to good use. Have you had any Linkshells strike your fancy? you can take a look at a small overview of them on the "linkshells" tab above (sorted by server). Even if you're not interested in joining one it can be nice to know who's out there that you might end up encountering. If you have any questions feel free to post em, or start a thread, maybe find one tangentially related and post it there. The RPC has many talented people that will help find answers or at the very least point you in the right direction. Good luck out there in the wide world.
  4. Allo Areante, Welcome to the RPC! I second Aysuns' suggestions, taking a look at some of the listed areas in her second link will provide an opportunity to observe many of the groups in their day to day operations, and perhaps you'll have the chance to strike up conversation if any take your fancy. On the note of meeting people, you can take a look at the Calendar and the Lantern to see what might be coming up. Some events will require you to speak with the host, some not, but they are (by and large) all open to a host of different characters. If you have the chance and want to fill any gaps in knowledge you feel might need to be addressed I would turn to the wiki for the RPC (linked in the bar along the top). It has some basic lore notes, some character notes and a whole host of information provided and created by members. There's also http://xivwiki.com/Main_Page http://ffxiv.gamerescape.com/wiki/Main_Page Both good general resources for everything from item recipes (if you want some sweet robes) to FATE locations! Please let us know if you have any questions, feel free to post them here, message me in game or all of the above. Hope to see you around in Eorzea! PS While I never personally had trouble with 1.0 I do know a few who had their graphics cards chug along with the game, good to hear 2.0 is treating you better.
  5. Hello Taelia, Good news that you've made the transfer! as a note, entries on the Linkshell page are a mixture of both. Your best bet is to just make a post asking, or send a tell in game to one of the members. If I recall correctly, most entries are linkshells, i'd chalk it up to being allowed to have multiple Linkshells. Hope you can get clarification on the set ups of any you're interested in. I'll be in around on and off for most of the day if you have any further questions!
  6. No problem, I hope you get a response before too long!
  7. Hmm off the top of my head there's the Black Lotus Cartel, The Blades of Nald'Thal, and maybe Rosa? It (again) depends on what exactly you're looking for, but I think that covers a fairly large difference in demographic. They each have entries under the Linkshell tab, you can post directly to their listing, or use the contact information they'll likely post. Hope that helps set you on your way. Eorzeas a big place with a lot of people so i'm sure you'll be able to find somewhere to your liking in time.
  8. Nice grab Nebula, Here's a little shot from early in the night.
  9. I've been using http://www.memrise.com/user/jlptbootcamp/courses/teaching/ His N4 courses to study, he also has an amazing blog that hosts numerous bits of information. His study material does everything from the basics to the very advanced so I try to recommend him where ever I can. I used to (in 1.0) play on Sarganates, and had a similar experience where I realized I wanted something outside the mechanical challenges to interact with. Though I had the same series of events happen in WoW so I sometimes wonder how I managed to surprise myself.
  10. Salut Reinette Ça va ? There are, hidden in the corners, a few FR roleplay groups here as well (just tag yourself in search info as speaking French and some one will message you pretty quick. Most of them are Quebecois, but there are some from other regions of course.) Cool to hear that you managed to make the move with your whole FC. Balmung has a strong market that can be advantageous to progression guilds, which i'm sure you already know. I'll second Rinhs suggestion of linkshells as being the two (that I know of) primarily EU linkshells. Also, feel free to ask lots of questions as mentioned, poke around the forums a little bit, message some people in game. Hope to see you around Eorzea!
  11. Hello Chibi, Just a word of advice, a lot of FC's/Linkshells will require you to go to them. You can get a synopsis of most of them in the "linkshell" directory above. Of course each has their own rules and guidelines, but most are open to casual conversation with the representatives here and in game so you can get a better idea of the group and all that jazz. Feel free to throw up your character synopsis in the "Directory" under which ever server (in your case Balmung) or on the Wiki, a handy little tool you can redirect people to if they want to know a few things about your character before meeting you in game, or something to reference yourself for information. If you'd be able to expand on what style of RP FC you're looking for I might be able to make a few recommendations. A wandering band of Mercenaries? perhaps a group of Craft suppliers and harvesters? Thuggish types? You can also poke around the forums if you're interested in seeing what events are happening, or what stories that are rolling along you'd be interested in. If you have any questions or comments make sure to post them, or message me in game. Its a wide world out there, hope to see you in it!
  12. Great to see another large turn out. Things got a little hectic for a while so good on everyone for seeing it through. As usual a special thanks to the attending staff, Konner Kinkaid T'nara Farig Nebula Stardance D'ren Tia D'intana Tenbe and of course all the attendees, many notable personalities, some new faces. Hope to see everyone again at the next round!
  13. Howdy, the times and server status (for openings) can be found here: http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/news/detail/80cd4583bf743600105b947d6906d0909189e479 They update regularly (time listed across the top) non-peak hours are ideal to make a character due to the massive drop off in traffic. Hope that helps, and hope to see you in Eorzea!
  14. Hmm I don't know of any that are centered around twelve worship myself... Perhaps http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/showthread.php?tid=3321 would interest you on a more academic/aetherytic side. Hmm now that you mention it i'm kind of curious, i'll make sure to update you if I come across anything.
  15. Hello Iago (Oh honest Iago) Wynne, Being in England should serve little issue here, feel free to check out "Europa" (And any number of linkshells listed in the Linkshell hall) To find a group of like minded individuals to interact with. I highly recommend poking around the forums, chances are there will be a thread to interest you. and if not you can always start your own! Remember that we're here to help, ask questions, make comments, the whole deal. I'll be on most of tonight (so your morning) at the Coffer & Coffin event if you care to stop by (its listed on the calendar, where you can see all manner of other activities.) Good luck and good hunting out in Eorzea.
  16. Greetings Mephist, As a note on the length of your post, its hardly off putting, nice to see a good chuck of thought and detail. I enjoy Shadowrun as well, have you had the chance to play the isometric adaptation? Either way, welcome to the RPC, feel free to post any questions you might have, take a look at the linkshell hall to get an idea of who you might meet out in the wide world. Are you as excited for the new Series as I am? I'm excited! Interesting character introduction, I toyed wit hthe idea of working under the banner of Nald'Thal in 1.0 but it never really panned out due to a number of issues with the lore/ what I was considering.
  17. /salute well make sure to take your time, The world is vast, old and a bit ridiculous! with lots of people to go along with it in both cases. Hopefully some one from Gilgamesh can swoop by and point you in the right direction. I'm unsure about the Miqo'te conversation, but (if I recall correctly) there are quite a few discussions about a few major clans happening at the moment. (U' and W' I think.) So long for now, remember to be large and in-charge!
  18. Choo~ Choo~ Welcome to the RPC Sounds like you've already taken the time to become familiar with the area. As a note, I understand the intimidation, but really its a friendly bunch of people (No matter the server.), there's always the opportunity to roll and alt and come join us in some shenanigans during your down time. If you haven't had the chance already please feel free to take a look at the linkshell hall to get an idea of the groups on Gilgamesh that you might be interested in getting to know better. A few resources (as far as lore is concerned) that you might want to check out if you feel hesitant about a certain topic: http://xivwiki.com/Main_Page http://ffxiv.gamerescape.com/wiki/Main_Page Hope that helps, remember that we're here to help, ask silly questions, muck about, make a day of it! Good luck out there.
  19. Ooh, that sounds very interesting. I wonder if you'd be amenable to sharing any preliminary works you do. In Character I don't study the crystals themselves much but I do make some cursory notes on Aether, its alterations and the natural consequences. Perhaps even an IC peer review? that might be neat to do of material put forward, an open Socratic style discussion of points maybe? just a thought. Excellent point, i'll speak with Deirdre about what we have to work with. If you'd be alright with it i'll send you messages (or post here) the ideas and limitations suggested, maybe mock up a test page before rolling forward. Thoughts?
  20. /em has a feeling this is something said from experience. /think
  21. PSH, we all started some where. Interesting to hear about the old WoW servers, I might go and poke around on some down time in the future. A note on Conjury, I highly suggest getting up to the Job level of about (35? maybe 40) for a few big lore chucks that a lot of people are hesitant to talk about for the sake of spoiling. (And its one of the best sequences imo.) A good point on the healing, never a bad idea to approach some one to test the waters with how they'll feel about a given event. I'm always cautious like that when it comes to money. Some characters have different scales for "a lot". Lemme know if you need any questions answered, i'll be trundling around La Noscea this evening. Fishing, very relaxing :chocobo:
  22. I had the Duskwight Discussion in mind, which I have been fortunate enough to follow since its inception. there is already an "official" literature page on the Wiki with a sparse few texts (which I linked in my first post). and If possible I would like to use it as the foundation for added works, since some listed are player made already. We have also considered using the forums as a meens of validation, particularly with more broad topic works. (also mentioned up there.) Things are looking promising.
  23. Hello Daishi, Please take a look at the Linkshell Hall portion of the website to get a good idea of what groups might interest you. Such as "Balmungs Finest" a PVE linkshell that works through dungeons. Feel free to ask any further questions.
  24. I heartily agree that there can be any number of texts that could be deliberately fictitious, or old tales passed down. For example fairy tales that Hyurans before their migration may have told becoming twisted into a kind of "grimms fairy tales." Perhaps some books are notable because they are such wonderful flights of fancy, a Eorzean Terry Pratchett Hm, food for thought.
  25. Hello Lorelle, this one? http://ffxiv.zam.com/en/item/8032212/Dated-Linen-Coatee-(Pink) All the Coatee's have similar designs but small alterations. I'll try to find a small gallery. Follow up, a few different styles: http://ffxiv.zam.com/en/item/8032205/Dated-Canvas-Coatee-(Blue) http://ffxiv.zam.com/en/item/8032219/Moth-eaten-Seneschal-Coatee
