Welcome to Balmung! You made the right choice in coming here as it is in my humble opinion an excellent server. As for a Free Company there is a few places to look. Either the tab at the top labelled Free Companies and you can filter by server. Also there is a master list of Free Companies around here somewhere though I can't remember where exactly. If you are both looking for a place to start FC wise I suggest you poke Liliro Liro or Kasi in Mischief's Coven, a neutral-evil aligned free company unless I'm mistaken. (I know they are evil, just not sure on the neutral part.) My free company lives right beside them and the people I've met thus far are amazingly nice and open. Both people I mentioned post around here frequently, so I'm sure one will see this soon.

I suppose I don't see why that would be irritating. I think that sort of stuff is just to bring attention to their FC so that people know it's there to attempt to apply for it. It's advertising - and even businesses that are advertising open job slots will still require the potential new employee to come interview and show their skill sets if necessary. I'd be personally more bothered by the FCs that invite anyone and everyone and use their bloated numbers as some sort of a status symbol. "We've got over 500 members!" Yay you. :lol: I can understand your perspective. I think the reason it bothers me is because I chafe under the idea of answering to others (outside of my RL job) and allowing another player to 'interview' me for the privilege of joining their FC feels like submitting myself. Perhaps I'm just far too IC at these moments. My characters tend to be fiercely independent. I mean, if it helps, when I made my free company I took ideas I loved from previous FC's I had been in and used them. My application has 8 questions, half that can be answered in a sentence, a checkbox and 3 RP related questions that actually require details just so we can get to know the character to see if it fits. That's the entire 'theme' of the application process. Fitting in. I want my FC to be a close knit community where drama happens rarely and can be settled quickly and quietly. We're all here to play the game after all and if we're not having fun than why bother? When I first started to play I was in a FC or two that had drama and it made things unpleasant, so I prefer FC's that take some time to get to know a prospective member than not.

You might actually like Azeyma's Oath as they fulfill all your current needs and wants. - We have around 12 people, 9 of which are very active RP'ers. - We have a small house and are saving for a medium to buy hopefully in Stormblood. - Definately have rp at least once every other night, usually more with plots running, small and large. - We have discord and voice isn't required and I'd like to think we're all mostly mature. - We do run content and are more RP focused with some pve thrown in such as maps and the like. Of course it's a big ERP hub, we're the biggest RP server so there's ERP on it. Heh. Anyways it's not like you'll find ERP on the streets. There's some courtesan type FC's which from what little I've seen are very tasteful and don't shove it in your face what they do. As a person whose isn't interested in ERP at the slighest I've never run into it at all in my 1yr + of being on Balmung.

I -really- like 1 but sadly she has an identical twin and it would be noticed very quickly if she has a new body since it wouldn't be perfect, I mean maybe it's an exact replica but.. yeah it would be noticed. Number 2 is also tempting but she knows some restorative magics from studying at the conjurer's guild briefly >.< I do like your last bit though and it's tempting to go that way, thank you for the idea!

My Hikari needs some sort of curse as one of her prevalent weaknesses which I try to give all my characters. A little backstory first on how she got cursed. Basically she was in a tent with her parents when a machine exploded, killing them all (or so Hikari thinks, she was very close to death but didn't actually die.) All Hikari can remember is waking up after dying with an old woman beside her holding a glass rod. The woman resurrect her! Or so Hikari thought. Waking up the next day in a small room she found the woman gone and all of her injuries healed. So I thought that besides a drive to find relics Hikari could somehow have gotten cursed while being healed fully. A friend gave me the idea of her being reckless to the point of death but anyone who knows my Arietty knows I have a character like that already so I'm looking for ideas. Thank you for anyone who shoves said ideas at me as I'm clueless!

Hi Natsumi! I think your Raen and mine could get together just fine! Hikari is a noble who's come to Eorzea not to escape but to search for something and do the paladin thing that paladins do! She's a bit rough around the edges but opens up quite quickly especially around other Raen. If you'd like we could say her family went to the Natsumi's family's Onsen. Her wiki is below, let me know what you think!

Thank you everyone, this has definitely given me some ideas on how to go forward from here!

Hey all! So my Hikari is a paladin in the traditional sense, she doesn't own a soulstone or anything and knows incredibly basic conjury and how to use a sword and a shield. Not really the point but just a tad of background. I'm trying to figure out if there is anyway she could 'hear' Azeyma, her Goddess of choice? IC'ly I have Hikari constantly going out to help the people of Eorzea, defending villages from wild boars, escorting someone to a city, all that good and paladiny stuff but is there some way she could hear Azeyma or could Azeyma send her a nudge that's sort of a feeling of 'Hey go here'? Thanks for any help or feedback!

I've definitely heard people shoot comments about female Miqo'te and how popular they are or how there is so many, both good and bad meaning. Play what you want, have fun! It's what we're all here for - fun! Personally I love Au'ra and have two of them!

Hello there! I think Azeyma's Oath might have everything you're looking for actually! We have a fair amount of RP throughout the week including going to events and a good relationship (I hope!) with our near neighbors so we can drop in to RP or vice versa! We have discord and a website and I'd like to say we're all adults and try to handle things with an adult-like manner! Everyone currently in the FC has at least a few years experience under their belt and we have I hope a very simple roll system in place meant to benefit those who are obvious skill (ie. you're a master archer and get +100), but is still simple at heart because we want to roleplay not rollplay! That's actually a really good idea! I'd do it myself if I wasn't planning out a small plot arc for our FC. If anyone else would like to make a meetup you have 's support and the loan of their basement!

It really depends on what sort of characters you have and their interests as well as your own. Check out my FC in my signature. We've been going to a few events in the last three weeks and have enjoyed ourselves so much that myself and my officers decided to make it a reoccurring thing. If you have some interest I can toss you a discord link. Also in the last week or two we've spent some time working on closer ties with our neighboring FC's, Liliro's Coven and Yvenalise's Glowfly an evil-aligned tavern and merchant FC respectively.
