Hey all, I'm a newcomer to the current version of XIV, but an old hat at RP in MMOs, well, mostly WoW and XI. Spent some time in Tarnished Coast in GW2 and a lot of time in GW, but stuck mostly to my headcanon. Currently trapped on Gilgamesh trying out a slew of different characters and missed the Balmung maintenance window last night. My (hopeful) main is Aldred "Red" Gardner. He's your standard drunkard/merc type. I'm hoping to join three of my old XI friends once I get to Balmung in our Aleport-based LS. Looking forward to meeting more people once I'm there. In the meantime, if you're stuck on Gilgamesh waiting for a transfer or a recreate and feel like some RP, hit me up.

Your Character's Story Role In a Final Fantasy Game
I'nhalki replied to Sylentmana's topic in Fun Prompts
We are a four-man Team Rocket. It's true. And you're the cat. -
I can't quite tell if there is room left in #1, but I'd love to sign up for it. These are wonderful!

Welcome! It always brings a smile to my face to talk to other former XI players. I was on Asura, but I somehow remember your LS's name from random RP searches or maybe the Alla forum... I can't quite remember. Glad to see another XI face!

((Yes, sorry that became such a massive wall of description, Lin! I'm assuming you two will have plenty of RP fodder once Ki is effectively neutralized. Also, Aeo, don't know quite how you've constructed the function of Khy's ability, but if there is some opportunity for a memory-bleed kind of effect where I'nhalki could glimpse some of Khy's own memories maybe we could use that as a springboard to bring in his side of the story in Costa del Sol. I consider Ki almost completely aether-ignorant/null, so that might be out of the realm of chance, however. Again, really nice premise for a forum RP. It would be really hard to do the psychological/memory elements in-game, at least with how panicky/time-aware I feel when RPing in-game! This is great so far!))

"Ugh I need to update my character's Wiki"
I'nhalki replied to Berrod Armstrong's topic in RP Discussion
Finally, finally finished I'nhalki's wiki. I tried to keep it brief: https://wiki.ffxiv-roleplayers.com/pages/I%27nhalki_Raha Need to get a new screenshot that's in her RP glamour and not her leveling one. >< This week I am committed to overcoming my overthinking-of-all-things and initiating RP with people I see out questing and such who I don't know. Going to do my best not to be too awkward. I hope to see many of you around! -
((Definitely going to incorporate this memory loss as soon as I can into my RP in-game. What a great concept!)) Nhalki's blind rage sparks fiercely as an unfamiliar sensation creeps across her scalp. She shudders, and suddenly can't discern whether her left arm has ceased its frustrated clawing due to exhaustion or something else. Her tail's fur stands on end when she hears the hyur's voice echo as her own thoughts would. "You're sleepy." "Your mind is going blank." "Now... where is your will to fight?" "I don't think you need that, now... do you?" What remains of her consciousness clings angrily to lucidity. It struggles against this foreign voice as if it were an unwelcome thought or nightmare. Beyond her thoughts, her emaciated form sinks toward the road. She can just barely smell the heavy rain that continues to soak the road, the muddy chocobos and the richly fragrant fish. The concrete images tied to these scents abruptly mingle with an overwhelmingly vivid memory... "This be how ye pick one out, Ki." The spirited voice of a teenaged girl. The scene shows dusk setting over a trail that winds through green and golden fields and shallow valleys. The vantage barely can see over the tall grass and directly in the field of vision two tiny, dirty hands grip an already-bloodied tomahawk. Eyes turn to look up at a tall, beautiful Sea Wolf girl crouched a fulm away: wavy, black hair swept behind an ear and silver eyes focused across the plain to the road below. The girl presses a full-sized bhuj against the grass below, hiding it from view as she kneels down to whisper. "The Crows'll always travel in pairs, ye see. See the archer? Aye. If ye can crack 'is skull 'afore the other gets a chance to charge us, the battle's good as won. Aim fer it, just like ye would one o' them toad's great big eyeballs. Just like I showed ye." A warm smile accompanies these instructions as the roegadyn lass looks directly to the tomahawk's holder. With a reassuring nod and grin, the girl grips the handle of her bhuj and motions for the viewer to attack the pair of pirates that seem to be patrolling the road below their position. What ensues is the bloody, ungainly slaughter of the pirates and the ensuing feast of stolen rations. An incredible sense of affection permeates this memory, for a moment. It then begins to slip away, detail by detail. Somewhere in the depths of I'nhalki's consciousness there is an urgent, dire sense of panic. The minutest of minute wisps of aether vainly pushes back against whatever magic the hyur employs.

Wind-up I'nhalki Item Flavor Text Nearly unrecognizable due to its well-kempt hair. Use item to obtain Wind-up I'nhalki. Minion Guide Commissioned by the Maelstrom for use as a diversionary field tool, this wind-up miqo'te is drawn to the smell of fish. Its previous owner failed to take this into account and lost a full moon's worth of salted rations. Behavior: Independent
-
((Hey! I'm alright with anything short of instant death. Go ahead and run with it! Sorry for the delay—I was driving for the last hour or so.)) The miqo'te attempts to rip her blade arm from the hyur's grasp when she feels the searing crunch of a pugilist's knuckles against her ribcage. She violently attempts to wriggle out from between them when the heel of a palm suddenly blocks her vision and her forehead is secured in a vice grip. Her free hand reaches up to wildly scratch and grab for the man's long hair but she visibly struggles for air and strength after the firm blow to her side.
-
Nhalki's eyes dart between the roegadyn, the hyur and the fallen crate. Her left hand curls around a throwing knife. Her eyes halt on the roegadyn's pugilist arms. No wounds. I don't think I can take both of them... The hyur stands and confronts her with unusual calm. She scans him for a weapon as he speaks. She barely hears him through her frenzy, aside from his final threat. In her state, she takes it as a threat, gold eyes opening wide in anger. Let's see what you can do. Swiftly, but roughly rather than gracefully, she hurls two knives toward him. She leans forward, and sprints toward him, body close to the ground, and another knife primed to slash upward in the direction of his throat.

I'd like to sign up for this! My character is Aleport/Swiftperch based so Sastasha would be excellent. Looking forward to the adventure.

I RP as a character who would, mechanically-speaking, switch between Rogue, Marauder and Lancer fairly frequently. She specializes in thrown weapons, so basically—javelins, throwing knives and tomahawks. She uses javelins for spear-fishing and impromptu combat, then knives and tomahawks as her go-to weapons as they tie in with her combat background and early training, which came primarily from two reformed pirates. I'm currently wrestling with how to portray her usage of axes, as my main is Warrior. I really picture her dual-wielding axes or using a smaller axe than what we usually see in-game for Warriors. Maybe Ninja would be a better IC choice for a main class. Time will tell!

Your Character's Story Role In a Final Fantasy Game
I'nhalki replied to Sylentmana's topic in Fun Prompts
I'nhalki is 1/2 or 1/3rd of the inept villains-but-totally-unthreatening duo or trio that rivals your character party during the first third of the game. She's the quiet "..." bodyguard type one that's always paired with the brazen, loud one (that would be Aldred in our LS, haha). And then, by the midpoint/climax of the game maybe these low-tier villains have either died as a plot point or end up helping your main party because they realize they're bad at villainy. In terms of class/job she would probably be a simple fighter or thief. -
This looks really active! I've been hoping to run in to more RPers out in the open world for random RP. I'm I'nhalki Raha in-game. I'll PM a leader here, or does PM mean to contact one via whisper in-game...?

Heavy jungle rain seems to pummel her eyes as she stumbles through the undergrowth of the forest. Nearly three suns come and gone without food or a wash, the scrawny miqo'te stumbles over a tree's root into the mud. "Grnnh..." she growls, lifting herself up with two arms that seem little more than bone and a thin, stringy layer of shaking muscle. Gritting her teeth, she spits out mud and wipes her eyes with the back of a callused hand. Her face is riddled with small knife scars, most notably one across her right cheek that follows across the bridge of her nose. She leans against the tree, rain pounding against her with a weight that seems heavier than a buffalo to her, in her current state. Dirt and grime trickles down from her short-cropped hair, dirtying her face again. She seems to be trying with the last of her strength to hold back tears from joining the rain. For a moment, the rain seems to grow louder, and louder, and... like wheels rolling fast over a stony path. Her ears fly straight up. A road! With a burst of strength, she sprints toward the sound, unthinking. She runs, feeling the muddy ground through her worn-out caligae. She leaps through a thick line of vegetation to stumble to a halt on a narrow road bordering the sea. The carriage she had heard jostles along ahead of her, ten yalms away. She can see two figures riding along, drawn by two chocobo. In a half-starved frenzy, she reaches for her tomahawk and jerks her arm back, aiming for one of the rear wheels. The sweet scent of fresh fish fills her nose as she hurls the makeshift weapon at the cart with desperation. Her other hand moves to ready a knife strung to her belt.
-
She weaves quietly through the racks of drying fish. Thankfully a great ruckus in the town square, if it could be called even that, had drawn the entire hovel's attention. Too many. Too lean. Too poor. She comes to the conclusion and gently pulls three dry fish from the netting above her, ripping one in half with her blunt, but strong, Seeker teeth. She skulks silently behind the village and disappears, her stomach clenching with ravenous hunger as she swallows the half-rancid fish. As she clears the thick vegetation leading back to the gully rainforest, she sniffs the air. Rain's coming. Her ears flatten and she scowls through the messy chewing of her fish.

I've always been a one-MMO person, starting with FFXI's US launch in 2005. I only ever played XI, XIV and WoW for more than a month. After my friends and I graduated from college and stopped playing WoW in 2012, I tried SWTOR, GW2 and ESO their respective launches but never stayed for more than two weeks in each game. So basically, FFXI (Asura) 2005 - 2010 WoW (Cenarion Circle) 2010 - 2012 No steady MMO, just launch tests: 2012 - 2015 FFXIV 2015 - ??? Being in multiple MMOs just tends to break my immersion, and I never really had the time or interest with high school and then college during FFXI and WoW.

What's your MBTI Personality type? (Link to test here!)
I'nhalki replied to LadyRochester's topic in Off-Topic Discussion
I'nhalki got ISTP. I'm, as I predictably get on these, INFP -
She creeps slowly down the outcropping as the trio fades out of view into the nearby shanty of a fishing village. She scans the shoreline for the weathered sword. I saw him take the bag, where is that sword...? Just as she wades into the shallows to search, a great booming voice coming from the settlement startles her. A fight? A fight meant confusion and confusion meant a ripe opportunity to pilfer a weapon sturdy enough to fight her way back to the Gully ferry. She checks the tomahawk and line of knives strung to her belt and gives a final look for the weathered sword.

I'm always worried that my RP is extremely boring and slow when I RP with new people.

I wish I had taken a photo of the dialogue, but I remember during the 2.~ quest when you transport the Domans to Ul'dah via the chocobo caravan there was a lot of lore describing how an aetheryte wasn't built in Vesper Bay for a specific reason... something about the syndicate controlling trade? It's fuzzy to me in my memory. It also seems as if you are transporting a large amount of goods or a vehicle, for example, you wouldn't be able to teleport. For me, this adds to my head canon about the anima strain of teleporting. If my character is carrying a lot of goods or carrying an especially heavy weapon I imagine that it would be extra taxing to teleport that item as well, as it doesn't have its own aether, right? The Warrior of Light is supposed to be highly aether-sensitive and I am guessing this is fairly common in the post-calamity world, judging by the opening cutscene comments about aether sickness. If just being in a aether-heavy environment can cause sickness, I suppose we can imagine teleportation would severely nauseate, sicken, or simply knock out most Eorzeans who have some kind of sensitivity, which I would imagine to be a large number. For myself, I only roleplay my characters as needing to use an aetheryte when they are desperately needed somewhere that is not too far away and when they are in a good, strong physical state. I think the instinct for mage type characters to be much more comfortable the aether inside of them is a good one, too!

Five years ago, a small settlement disappeared in western La Noscea. This is the story of four children who disappeared along with it. _____________________________________ Q'molosi's Four is a small, story-based, in-character linkshell with an ongoing plot that will eventually lead to the creation of a small roleplay Free Company based in Limsa Lominsa in accordance with our planned storyline. Our linkshell philosophy is to nurture and pursue the reverse of epic-scale roleplay. We believe that roleplay of a large narrative scale can make the world feel terribly small and the beautiful details of the world seem inconsequential. We follow a policy of slow-burn story arcs that allow for our characters to inhabit the world in a manner similarly to NPCs. Our characters are a close-knit group of children who grew up together and don't know much of the world of Hydaelyn beyond La Noscea and Limsa Lominsa. The group's aim is primarily to defend the embattled people of western La Noscea from Sahagin and pirates. We use the linkpearl as you would see it used in quests—many local militias and bands of Wailers, Blades or Yellowjackets use linkpearls for tactical coordination or to find one another in the field. The vast majority of our roleplay occurs in /say in and around Swiftperch and Aleport. Our Free Company exists solely for OOC coordination and event planning. If your character is from or has any associations with the 1.0 settlement of Halfstone, Camp Bald Knoll or the Black Crows please get in touch with me through PM if you would like to be involved in writing our story! We will be holding our first public event in Swiftperch this September.
