  1. Welcome to the RPC! Rules are located HERE and if you need a refresher there's a button along the top bar labeled "Rules".
  2. The lore stuff has been covered already, and just wanted to drop this in here. For missing a leg, a casual way to bring it up, as Sounsyy suggested, would be mentioning how one leg sounds different then the other when walking. This would work great with using a peg-leg or magitek limb. This works best when you're approaching somebody for the first time. /em walked up towards X, a hallow thump of her right leg echoing across the wooden floor with each step as they approached. "Good evening, X." In this case, it's the sound of wood on wood making the thumping noise, and there's little to no need to mention it again as person X has a clear image there's this constant sound when you're walking on that leg. Or if you're sitting with the aforementioned peg-leg, that one leg sits off to the side straight. There's lots of ways to play off injuries, that make it so your character doesn't become the injury itself. As mentioned, there's also not having it replaced at all. While this is more difficult, you could walk around on something like a crutch. It's easy to slip in when needed to be mentioned, and my character has hobbled about on a staff once herself, using it to support her weight. Hope this helps you out some.
  3. Gonna repost it with a correct format for ease of where they belong. Out of Character: Nodem Oxfa http://nodemoxfa.tumblr.com/ Au Ra: Aoi Obinata https://obinatanoaoi.tumblr.com/ Miqo'te: X'sylvia Tohka http://x-sylvia.tumblr.com/
  4. I haven't been big on the public RP scene lately, but I will say this assessment is correct. I had my character sitting in Druther's, of all places, because of how she is. She was just there, playing a harp when some other RP'ers happened to walk in for something they were RP'ing. I emoted a few times, that my character was there, and was playing her harp in the corner. Because it was smaller, they acknowledged her while she was playing, and even thanked her when she went to leave. It was a small interaction, but an interaction non-the-less. Syl even got cookies! Cookies she's never had before! A fun prompt if she tries to seek that person back out to thank them... lol. I'm not saying you NEED TOO go to smaller events. Just stating the obvious that smaller event have less cliques, less chat scroll, and less people shying away from say and emote chat like those that turn their chat off. Yes, somebody did say that earlier, and as I stated... I know all the reasons behind people doing this.
  5. As seen from the replies... Yes, people will stick with the familiar, their groups, or their contacts. However, it doesn't always mean it's on purpose. NOT ALWAYS. Chat spams are real, and things are easy to be missed. I can testify that it does happen, just because of the chat scrolls. If you think a post was missed, the best thing to do is to send a tell, "Hey did you see my post?" I often get tells like this from people, and either ask for a repost or try to find it. Finding it always isn't an option, so I'll ask for a repost normally. It's an up arrow or two for you, but might be a page of text for me. Cliques are real, despite what people might argue, however the entire community itself isn't that way. What Warren said above is something good to take into account. Don't build your character(s) for other people, but for yourself. As a non-courtesan Miqo'te RP'er, I'll tell you if you want to RP a miqo'te, do so. As a non-weeb Au Ra, if you want to RP an Au Ra, do so. I don't do popotos, mainly because of the movement animations. Same issue with Roe's. lol. Public events are great to go to to meet people. I'd personally suggest something smaller at first, like a tavern night. The reasoning is because there's less people and spam typically, so people have an easier time keeping up and are more chatty. At an event like a Gala, I will say that even in real life people with stay with their cliques or groups in huddled corners of the world. They stick with the norm unless they see somebody else they know appear. I do agree with T'errin on one major thing.
  6. As it was with the All Saint's Wake event; Se added a story using their decorations. Male side of the Story. Female side of the story. I hope you all enjoy seeing the small story play out.
  7. As mentioned previously, some people will turn their noses up at such a notion and you might get some heat from doing it. However it's already within the lore that such a thing happens, it's just not thought of in that sense. I know right? Head scratching... But might I point out the Miqo'te race, Seekers specifically, for those that are scratching their heads? While it's not a "defining" characteristic of them, it is something that does happen when you think of how seeker tribes are structured. There will be those that don't mind, and those that will mind as with everything. The more you communicate, the less issues you'll have normally. Never feel you need to justify yourself either, characters are want to do what they want at times. A lot of people forgot IC =/= OOC. I think I have a character that might enjoy your character's company all the same though.

  9. Okay Jump potions... Man I jumping. *hits the spacebar* A potion to ju... oh... Not that kind of jumping... As a person whom has leveled five characters to 50, three are at sixty now, a main with a lot of 60's, and will most likely will level more just because; I feel these should be restricted to those players whom have a 60 with finished MSQ on their account. While I understand new players wish to instantly be with everybody else, they lose the ability to learn their jobs, and the story if they instantly jump to the newest content/stuff. While you can argue the 'learning their jobs' all you like, it is no less true. Remember when HW came out? Nobody knew how to play the HW jobs correctly and it was kind of nuts because that experience from 1-30 was lost. Assuming they get restricted to only those people with a lvl60, completed MSQ (3.x series for reference); I feel it'll give people a chance to get those other jobs up that they've wanted to get up, or an alt they wanted to get to HW but didn't have the time, patience, and sanity (or lack there-of) to grind a new toon through the MSQ. I know I have an alt or two I'd love to just 'jump' into HW stuff and up in levels just to skip 2.x all over again. Also 3.0... I've love to skip those damnable moogles and millions of side quests. @_@
  10. She's finally lost it! Her biggest give-a-way yet! D: *hugs the Rinikett* Happy Holidays and may the odds forever be in people's favour?
  11. This isn't the first time this has been brought up. Here's a link to the other forum post on this topic. Just in case you wished for a general idea on how people feel about the subject.
  12. 1: Fenrir Pup 2: Sophic Barding 3: Tier 2 Aquarium 4: Mog Station Outfit
  13. It is an interesting theory on the creation of Au Ra's and their origins. Thank you for sharing it with us. I was hoping the lorebook would give a more DEFINED answer then scouring the pages in hopes to find the truth, which I'll do myself once mine comes in, but atlas... It's forever open to interpretation of the players it seems until we get a definite yes or no. This quote is a good example of how multiple people will perceive something written. On one hand it looks like it's saying, "NOT DRAGONS!" But if you read it again and look at the other meaning it looks more like they were saying. "We couldn't have them looking like full out dragons and had to humanize them more so it made sense a PC could visit Ishgard." Also note the part I bolded. This gives credence to it being about design, and including draconian lineage. While the former part will always be taken as, "NOT DRAGONS!"
  14. Sei and his awesome team of Overseers handled things until he showed up and Zantet us all a few times.
  15. They're raising the minimum specs required for the windows version of FFXIV when Stormblood is released. I agree with some of the others here... Giving us more customization options would be great. Separating horns from faces for Au Ra please! BUT... I don't think I'd mind if they gave us a new race, long as it was introduced in a good way.
  16. The situation between what you're portraying and what I do might be different, but the concept is the same. Aoi is a Raen that was adopted into a hyur family. Later that family had a hyur daughter, Yuki. They are sisters now, and consider one another sisters. Only main difference I see is that they aren't both Doman, or from Othard, in what you wrote. What gives my story credence is that raen's and hyurs did live together in some areas so it makes it a possibility. This isn't to say it's not possible for yourself as you've seen others write. It's entirely possible to have an adoptive sibling of any race.
  17. Making it epic this month huh? Tier 4 Aquarium Ramie Poncho Shaggy Shoat
  18. Must be drinking a lot since the bottle is nearly empty now
  19. A big thanks to all those that came out last night to Support our Storybook theme! Look forward to next month when we take on All Saint's Wake!
  20. At this time the Gilded Rose will be doing a different theme every month, so here's to hoping you'll be able to make it next month.
  21. Tonight is the night for Gilded Rose's Storybook Tavern night! Come join us at Ward 8, Plot 7 of the Mists at 7pm EST! The Tavern recently underwent an overhaul and is just BEGGING for customers to come in and spend a night of enjoyment within it's walls! Feel free to dress up yourself as a character from a storybook, or come and see what the staff has picked to dressed up as while having a drink or two, or perhaps a fine meal in our new dinning area. The Gilded Rose looks forward to seeing you there!
  22. I recall that as well. For Titan, I'm vaguely remembering something about there having been hundreds of people in the Company. And we only end up meeting, what, six of them? If they're all that remain after that, it's kind of telling how much of a slaughterhouse going to face a Primal is. Either it or its followers kill you, or you get tempered and get up killed by your own when you turn on them... Kinda puts it in perspective that the Allagan developed the Summoning Arts for the sole reason of being able to fight Primals. The ancient Allagan with all their advanced technology and magic and whatnot still had to develop a special technique for dealing with these things. It was during a lore panel, but I forget which, where Koji said that the company of heroes sent in three waves of troops. The first wave got tempered and 180'd onto the second wave, while the third wave advanced on. It's possible that tempering has a cool-down because it seems to me it'd be a good idea just to keep blasting tempering and then eat the people.
