I'm 33, and am new to RP, but have been creatively writing for fun since high school. It's fun to get to be so interactively involved with imagined characters of all makes and types ^^

I am thankful Kerr made this post. I am thankful we are blessed with roofs over our heads, that we live incountries withsolid enough infrastructures that we can put computers in our homes, that we have enough money in our pockets to afford playing sub games like FFXIV when 70% of the world's population live in poverty, may not know when there next meal is, may be homeless, may not even own a single shirt. In light of this, our petty squabbles on this site seem trivialized; I am thankful for the opportunities I will have to RP with all of you, and that I am fortunate enough to be able to read this thread (illiteracy is a real problem yo)

I like Mtoto's post: I am very happy with the LS I have found, yet I still visit other LS pages when the idea sounds good and offer my vocal support. Why is this a bad thing? I've seen nothing but positive interactions on these LS pages, and no signs of competition or putting othr LS down. If the LS forum has a 'look don't touch' mentality, newcomers will miss out on a chance to interact with that community, maybe become allies, friends, or members!

Tbh, I kind of agree with Deirdre, and never knew bumping/having enthusiasm over one's guild/LS could be annoying in the first place. However, I also agree mods have the right to run the site they are modfing however they see fit.

If the purpose of that forum is for advertising only (and not for linkshells to talk amongst themselves) is there a way to make it admin access only for posting? LS leaders would then submit their LS post to admins to be put up. Oh! And maybe sticky the LS forum policy in that forum and ask ppl to read it!

With level sync, falling behind your friends is thankfully a bit less of an issue now, at least as it pertains to FATES, guildhests, dungeons, etc.. Ah good point, I keep forgetting about that

Dedicating levelling groups, particularly RP ones, can be tough to find. Especially on main chars: different log in times, ppl dropping out of the game, missing a night and suddenly finding yourself five levels and an important plot point behind... Imo, the best method would be to form a story together with others (so that everyone has a vested interest) and set aside 1-2 nights a week to play on alts, so that everyone stays on the same pace. This is something I would very much enjoy doing myself ^^

I come from the world of console rpgs, in which the heroes are attractive; hell, even the villains are attractive, despite engaging all manner of activity you have described. I understand your dedication to realism, even applaud you for it, but this is a fantasy world, MMO's attract a large quantity of anime fans, and people generally associate aesthetics with being cool (just look at advertising). Not saying its right, it just is what it is.

I have a skype account. I cannot RP with you using the voice chat, b/c I am currentlyRPing the opposite gender, and that would totally kill the immersion for me (and my falsetto voice needs a lot of work) But I'd RP using the messaging system.

I've hung with lgbt guilds in previous games and have always found them to be pretty durn friendly. Here's wishing you guys n gals success!

Yea, I kinda like this feature. I'm not one to ignore tells, and this will politely tell my friends that 'hey! I'm in the middle of something!' However, I hope they replace reply tells with /r (instead of Alt + r)

I'm an alt-aholic. I run with several different classes and characters in every game I've played, until I settle on 2-3 I love. Rp wise, if a char's story dies, or they die, or I just lose interest, I shop some alts til one of them tells me an interesting story ^^ I have never run into any pushback on this. I have seen other people, who have 5-8 alts, be told that maybe they should focus on fewer chars, but that is usually after they complain about leveling too slowly. Anyway, I think its a matter of balance. Don't take on more than you can handle. For me that magic number seems to be 3. Anything beyond that seem like throwawy chars, whom I only use when I'm bored. Which is fine, but don't expect to be able to build solid rp stories on a char you only log on once a month, or five minutes here and there. Sticking with just one char. Might make you bored to the point of not enjoying playing, which is bad. Having too many chars may result in your time being far too scattered for others to enjoy rping with you, unless its very light, casual rp. So find a happy medium.
