That said, feel free to use the Making Connections forum here on the RPC to hit the ground running! Certainly helps if you have a good idea of the niche you're aiming for (I get the impression that would be piracy...).

If you're EU, I know virtually nothing there sadly. Regardless, best of luck on the hunt wherever you end up!

Hey there and welcome back to FFXIV, the RPC, and to Balmung! :thumbsup: Dragoons aren't worthless- they just have a reputation for being floor-tanks due to being a melee class and standing in the AoE a lot. If you're not brain-dead you should be just fine! As for getting settled into the game, being on Balmung is a little chaotic right now with the queues but give it a week and things should hopefully settle out. In the meantime, feel free to toss up a Making Connections post here on the RPC- it's a good way to hit the ground running with RP!

Handsigns, expressions, and even writing are all perfectly good and viable ways to compensate!

Hey there, and welcome aboard to the RPC, FFXIV, and Balmung! :thumbsup: The biggest thing is just doing what's most fun for you- so, writing a shy character may be a bit better for you just starting out, but that does impose some challenges to overcome when it comes to networking and making friends. Still, trying to play a more socially outgoing character (not necessarily a butterfly) may allow you to stretch into a new realm from the relative comfort of your computer chair!

This thread (apparently) needs more screenshots. One of our first few events, this particular one involved recovering some previously sold dangerous artifacts. A caravan was ambushed, the witnesses sanitized, and the artifacts recovered- only to plan to return them to the proper authorities tonight. Why, you might ask? Sadly, moving to Balmung is currently impossible. The best option right now is to move to Mateus, where it seems most of the overflow community is moving.
