1. Vass is an awesome roleplayer, and more people totally ought to hit him up!
2. Hey there! I earmarked this the day it was posted and read over the RPC Wiki page, but at the time my noble character hadn't quite launched yet. Now that he has, well! I link to Zavin's profile below in my signature, but for the abridged edition, he is the heir to a small Ishgardian noble house that is sworn to House Dzemael. He's a fairly down to earth guy, in a departure from your standard noble, and works as a lawyer in association with the Gridanian government. He is a character that also champions the good of the common people and political reform, although he arguably favors evil means to achieve those ends. I don't want to spoil too much here, but he has some pretty deep reasons for why a noble would strive to dismantle the aristocracy, and for why he's in Gridania instead of at home. I suspect Aloyv and Zavin would share some common ground- potentially quite a bit- despite being on completely opposite ends of the alignment spectrum. They could be friends, allies, or potentially even rivals, depending on what happens!
3. Hey there, and welcome aboard the RPC and FFXIV! Here's hoping you had some luck getting into Balmung this morning. If not, you can transfer up to 8 characters all at once for the single transfer fee, once they're 3 days old from creation. As others have said, getting onto Balmung is really the only choice if your foremost interest is in RP.
4. Hey there and welcome back aboard the RPC! You're certainly welcome to run into Zavin sometime here too- granted, he mostly sticks around Gridania and Ishgard.
5. Hey there, and welcome aboard to the RPC! The world needs more DnD junkies.
6. Hey there and welcome aboard to the RPC, FFXIV, and Balmung! Once you're all settled in, you might want to consider tossing up a Making Connections post- it's a pretty good way to hit the ground running. Even better if you've got a good idea of what niche you want to aim for, too!
7. Hey there and welcome aboard to the RPC- and hopefully Balmung in the future! About all I can do here is echo what everyone else has already said.
8. Hey there and welcome aboard the RPC and to Balmung!
9. Hey there and welcome aboard to the RPC and to Balmung! When you're all settled in and have a good idea about your character, you can toss up a Making Connections post here on the forums and get off to a running start with character connections! It also helps to have at least a basic idea what direction or niches you want to aim for too- there's a whole lot out there. EDIT: Derp, you already did. Nevermind.
10. Hey there, and welcome aboard to the RPC again I guess!
11. Hey there and welcome aboard the RPC! Character wiki looks pretty cool!
12. Hey there and welcome aboard the RPC and Balmung! You're in good hands with Sahja. Well, maybe. Kinda. Sorta.
13. An Axe to Grind Raid on Wailer Evidence Locker After K’ym had been captured and scheduled for execution some weeks back due to the intervention of a mysterious Dark Knight who had been hounding the Coven for some time, her heirloom axe had never been recovered during her jailbreak. This evening, Coven spies were finally able to find the evidence locker left over from that encounter and decided to act swiftly to recover K’ym’s axe. Gathering behind the Druthers and with one of the Coven posing as a Wailer, they bluffed and distracted their way into the fortified outpost. Locating the locker was easy, and with the axe in hand, they fought their way back out of the base in the confusion before stealing away into the forest. Shaman of the Miqo’te Gathering at the Shroudwolf Den Fresh from their last operation, the Coven arrived at the Shroudwolf Den in the Lavender Beds, where they met Irr’hosha, one of the shamans of the clan. There, many of the Coven members were able to learn a great deal about tribal life and customs- and one was even interested in becoming a shaman herself in the future! The gathering precluded more gatherings in the future and an avid interest by the Miqo’te of the Coven in further exploring a culture they had previously been little exposed to. 14. Hey there, and welcome aboard to FFXIV, the RPC, and to Balmung! As someone who also came out of leading RP-PvP guilds on Moon Guard back in Wrath, there's not really any RP-PvP presence at all in FFXIV. Your options for resolving conflicts are limited purely to /random fights and improvised RP combat. It's kind of a bummer really. I think everyone else knocked out your questions already! That said, your question about character concept viability depends on the niche of the community you go into. Some areas of the community are pretty job-heavy ("epic characters" if you will), whereas others keep things very mundane without any jobs and just classes being RP'ed. In my experience, "heroic jobs" are limited to more insular FC's and classes are more commonly used by the overall community (or the areas I've interacted with, at least). So, I'd probably recommend keeping it fairly mundane to start with and grow into the "heroic job" in the future if you find yourself in a niche that caters to that role. Otherwise, you'll end up with a power disparity between your character and others, which may cause some issues. Regardless, best of luck on the hunt!
15. Subtle, Lili. Hikari and her group are great folks and awesome roleplayers that'll be a benefit to any FC they join!
16. Everyone else got your questions already, so... Hey there, and welcome aboard to the RPC and hopefully to Balmung in the near future!
17. Hey there and welcome aboard to the RPC, and to Balmung hopefully soon! Osug has about the right of it I think- Balmung or bust! As for creating a character, it's good to adhere to the KISS principle (Keep It Simple, Stupid)- less is often more. You can create a blank slate with a general idea of personality and direction, and simply allow his/her interactions in the future with the community determine where they go.
18. Hey there and welcome aboard to the RPC, FFXIV, and Balmung! I think Lili's already got you squared away here.
19. Welcome aboard officially to the RPC, FFXIV, and Balmung! Best way to hit the ground running is to toss up a Making Connections post with what you're looking for. Having a good idea about stuff like niches or a direction you're looking to go with your character will definitely help too!
20. Maeve is awesome and more people should totally look her up!
21. Hey there and welcome back!
22. Hey there and welcome aboard to the RPC and to Balmung! Sadly I'm in the NA zones so we may not run across each other much, but either way, best of luck!
23. Hey there and welcome aboard to the RPC! Your best bet to get involved with the RP community at-large will be to stash a character onto Balmung. This is a pretty tall order though as the server is locked pretty much 24-7 and it can take weeks to weasel your way in. It's much faster and cheaper (time and money wise) to simply throw down the $18 transfer fee on a character (or characters, you can do multiple at once) that is 3+ days old and just move them onto Balmung. Either way, best of luck on the hunt!
24. Hey there and welcome aboard to the RPC and to Balmung! Think Lili's got it all covered already!
