Hey there and welcome aboard to the RPC! Best of luck over on Mateus!
-
There's a whole lot out there then if you're setting your sights pretty general! There's all kinds of FC niches out there- everything from tribal clans, to criminal rings, political reform, merchant groups, adventurer guilds, mercenary companies... and that's really just scraping the surface! There's the gauntlet of alignments too- chaotic vigilante groups and lawful villainous sects. You can simply click the Free Companies tab up at the top of the website and filter by Balmung to get a listing of the relatively active FC's out there. Some require membership to participate in, others are more easygoing. You can also find yourself some Linkshells to plug into too, and that'll yield even more RP for access as well! This together with the Making Connections and hopefully your net ought to bring in quite a bit!

Hey there, and welcome aboard to the RPC! Are there any particular kinds of FC's you're interested in or niches that catch your eye? That aside, you may want to consider tossing up a Making Connections post here on the RPC- that's a good way to hit the ground running if you know what you're looking for!

Last weekend, the Shroudwolves gathered for their next operation out in the Fringes. This time, though, things went horribly wrong and the main combat group ended up getting ambushed. Although the bulk managed to escape, two of them were captured... although curiously, the Garlean commander released them soon after for reasons unknown.

balmung Historical Archeologist looking for buddies!
Thunderbolt300 replied to Salsabeaver's topic in Chronicled Connections
A+ RP'er. Folks should totally hit him up (as I already have). -
Hey there, and welcome aboard to the RPC! You'd probably want to look around Gilgamesh for the immediate future- there's a pretty good RP presence there already and moving off of it is a one-way street at the moment. Mateus is the only other place you could go at this point as well, as Balmung is locked down the same as Gilgamesh is- at least for the moment. Best of luck!

This is tonight! Be there! -
Hey there and welcome aboard to the RPC and to RP! Sadly I'm not sure how much of any presence there is on that server... I can't say I've seen many people at all here on the RPC, aside from you. If you're looking to really get into RP, you might want to consider moving to Mateus as that's the best option with Balmung currently locked down.

Hey there and welcome back aboard the RPC and Balmung! Yeah, you gone done lucked out already being on Balmung. There was a brief rash of people who moved off to Mateus because the queues on Balmung were horrible for the first week or two of Stormblood, but that has since been completely resolved and it's been smooth sailing ever since. So, if you want to hit the ground running, you can toss up a Making Connections post here on the RPC as a good first step if you have a decent idea of where you'd like to go with your characters or what niches you want to shoot for! Best of luck out on the hunt!

Hi there! New here, was wondering how Omega is going.
Thunderbolt300 replied to MissChooChoo's topic in Welcome Desk
Hey there and welcome aboard to the RPC! Sadly I'm on Balmung so I can't give a direct account of Omega, but I have seen a few people here and there from the server. Best of luck on the hunt! -
Hey there and welcome aboard t--- Wait a minute, I know you.

balmung Adventurers seeking an active RP group!
Thunderbolt300 replied to Garrett's topic in Chronicled Connections
Hey there, and welcome aboard to you both to the RPC! The Veil's activity generally kicks off around 7:00 PM EST and goes until around 12:00 AM EST on the weekdays (at least from what I know- I generally pass out at 12 AM EST). We tend to have activity all day during the weekends, though. The Shroudwolf Clan tends to run a bit later than this and has a later start time too (more along the lines of 9 PM EST to 2 AM EST). Shroudwolf tends to be more scheduled event-driven though, which is great if you're on a schedule and like to be able to plan your evenings, but the tradeoff is you may not find as much "random" RP. Full explanations for both these groups are linked below for the sake of convenience. I think typically you can expect there to be about a 5 hour window in any FC from when people get home to when they need to go to bed to wake up for work the next day, so this probably makes sense. Now, that said, all this sort of depends on what you're looking for. While your characters could fit a multitude of FC's, you should also think about what'll make you happiest OOC too. Do you want an FC that's large where you can blend in easily and have access to a large volume of characters? Or a small one that gives you more shots at the spotlight and deeper interactions? Do you want to tackle content with your FC or stick mostly to RP? Are you interested in any particular niches (general adventure, political, merchant, criminal, clan, etc.)? Well, regardless, best of luck on your search to you both! (*cough* Miqomasterrace) -
Hey there, and welcome aboard to the RPC and RP in general! Good news is that with Stormblood, there's a lot more lore to play with as far as Au Ra go. Still, you don't have to know everything either and a few searches here on the forums or via Google can help at least get you up on the basics. Beyond that, you're certainly welcome to ask lore questions in the Lore forum, or even post to the Character Workshop if you're looking for some more direct assistance with lore-checking your character. Of course, you could just make your character oblivious to the lore as much as you are, and it'll give you a chance to learn the lore alongside your character (amnesia for instance, or just growing up really sheltered). You can also toss up a Making Connections post once you have a pretty good idea where you wanna go! It's a good way to hit the ground running. You can also visit the Quicksand in Ul'dah as a good way to cut your teeth on roleplay and watch others- learn a bit by example in a PUG environment. Making Connections will allow you a more "targeted" method of meeting other characters- specifically characters that share something in common with your own. Regardless, best of luck and good hunting!

Hey there and welcome aboard the RPC and to RP in general! Think the link above will do you some good for starters, and being as how you're on Balmung, I'd suggest visiting the Quicksand in Ul'dah and just watching people. It'll give you a basic idea of what it's all about and also give you the opportunity to cut your teeth in a PUG setting. Beyond that, you can toss up a Making Connections post here on the RPC to hit the ground running once you have a good idea for how you want to write your character and the niches they'd fit best in. Best of luck!

'Ello! Is there much of an RP scene on Coeurl?
Thunderbolt300 replied to PeoniWeiss's topic in Welcome Desk
Hey there and welcome aboard to the RPC! I can attest to the fact I've seen players here at the welcome desk who were on Coeurl. Now, that being said, if you're chasing after RP your best bet would have been Balmung, but being as how that's locked down, Mateus is the next best choice. If you're looking to try and get deep into RP, you'll probably want to consider the move. Regardless though, best of luck on the hunt! -
Hey there and welcome aboard the RPC and to FFXIV! Think everyone's got you covered pretty well as it is. Best of luck regardless of where you end up!

Hey there, and welcome back aboard the RPC! Starting fresh again, I'd suggest tossing down a Making Connections post and see what your net can reel in. Balmung is as bustling as ever, so there's plenty out there!

I can't speak much for Balmung RP Discords, but the community in general is pretty massive. There's RP in the residential districts, there's RP in the towns, there's RP out in the wilderness... and it can frankly be very difficult to keep up with what's going on and where. If you find yourself struggling to make the connections, I'd suggest throwing up a Making Connections post with a character description here- it may open up a lot of doors.
-
Thanks for the heads-up! I'll give it a shot. I used to RP some before, but I never really came here other than to lurk a bit. Wasn't sure how welcoming an already-established community like this would be to a newcomer. I've had bad experiences in the past, attempting to break into RP communities such as this one. So far, people seem friendly enough. Well... You two are friendly, at least, lol. My experience on Balmung has been pretty positive, and I'm sure much the same could be said for Mateus too. Thing is, it just takes time to break out into a new community- any community- but you can find some good starting points easily to plug in. The wider a net you throw, the bigger the catch! Just don't give up and keep pushing. Sometimes your mileage will vary, but most people I run into are genuinely pretty friendly.

It's been too long without more screenshots here! The Shroudwolves have moved into the Fringes on a rescue mission for one of their own that's been taken from them and arrived at Rhalgar's Reach over the weekend.

Hello folks! Officially hailing from Balmung!

Good choice of quote, considering I named my feather beaked yellow friend Gafgarion.:chocobo: You, sir, have excellent taste. You'll have to dye him a proper bronze later!
