New-ish to Balmung, Old to RP, Unfortunate EU-er
Thunderbolt300 replied to Imadyn Heart's topic in Welcome Desk
Hey there and welcome aboard to the RPC and to Balmung! There are definitely EU groups around. I'm fairly certain Azeyma's Oath is generally more active in the EU timezones, for example. I think you'll just need to try and get properly connected with the other EU players via FC and LS! I'm pretty sure there's an EU LS around here somewhere. -
Hey there and welcome aboard to the RPC, FFXIV, and Balmung! As Safety mentioned... the Making Connections forum is a good way to hit the ground running!

Looking for ideas in RPing performances
Thunderbolt300 replied to Sheepy's topic in Character Workshop
The Coven hosts a few performances here and there but the one that stood out the most recently... well, they used a streaming service to stream their music in real-time so it synced up exactly with their emotes, lyrics, and dancing. They incorporated spell effects, dance emotes, even non-dance emotes, and I'm pretty sure they have everything macroed with timings so it syncs properly with the music stream. Play the music, hit the macro, sit back and watch as people go nuts. It's magic. That is, frankly, an almost insane degree of effort in the setup, though. -
balmung Looking for new connections!
Thunderbolt300 replied to KoharuIyashi's topic in Chronicled Connections
Hey there! So, there's not a whole lot of ideas I've got, but hopefully the ones I do have tickle enough! For starters, you're welcome to run into Kasi sometime- she's a wandering mercenary, trader, cook, bartender, and has a plethora of connections in organized crime as well. She's definitely an evil character, though she has redeeming qualities as well- mostly in the realm of other Miqo'te, all of whom she considers to be kin and is actually fairly benevolent in those cases! As a more significant connection, there's the Mischief's Coven tavern, which is over in Lavender Beds, Ward 12, Plot 50. It's essentially a front for the mob, and we take on private contractors for events and independent storylines. There's no need to actually join the FC though- but that's an option there too, if you're looking for something like that! Details on both of these are available via my signature below. Regardless, best of luck on the hunt! -
Hey there, and welcome aboard to the RPC and to Balmung! Sounds like you're off to a wonderful start here with Luze! If you've got a few directions in mind for where you'd like to go with him, your next stop is probably to toss up a Making Connections post and start trying to build some bridges with other players. There's a whole LOT out there, though, so you can find plenty of niches to interest you- everything from clans to treasure/knowledge hunters, market exchanges and even organized crime with the mob. Regardless, best of luck on the hunt!

balmung Looking for people/group to RP with.
Thunderbolt300 replied to Silfur's topic in Chronicled Connections
Hey there! So, outright, you're welcome to run into Kasi anytime you like. She's a bit of a wandering mercenary, trader, cook, and occasionally a bartender, but she's also a huge Miqo'te nationalist and goes out of her way for anyone she sees as kin. She also has a bit of a darker backstory and has strong ties to the criminal underworld, but of course she's not without her redeeming qualities even as an evil character. Beyond that, if you're interested in treading the dark side, there's also the Mischief's Coven which is a tavern front for organized crime- what is essentially the mob. Now, this isn't a recruitment regurgitation- you don't need to join the FC to get involved with the criminal underworld and it isn't even expected that you should! The Coven employs numerous independent contractors freely (basically you can participate in 'jobs,' aka events, alongside the Coven and get IC'ly paid for them). The Coven tavern is also a hotspot for some random RP too- offers something a bit more manageable compared to the Quicksands. If you're looking to chase a lighter, redeeming path though, you could probably take a swipe at either the Shroudwolf Clan or the Morbolvine Clan, where you can connect with tons of other Miqo'te players and stories. This might be more akin to returning home for a soul searching among kin and family. Regardless, best of luck on the hunt! -
balmung Swashbuckling smuggler LF connections
Thunderbolt300 replied to Lucius's topic in Chronicled Connections
Hey there, and welcome aboard the RPC! Rhen and Nebbs already said everything to say, but since you don't have a welcome desk thread, I figured I'd bomb in here too. If nothing else, though, you're certainly welcome run into Kasi sometime for an arm wrestle and a drink! -
Yeah, I'll second Deahfel there- Azeyma's Oath is a pretty good outfit that you could get involved with. Their general thing is ruins explorers and treasure seekers for more of a research aspect to understand the world around them. They do a fair number of social events as well (not to mention they're next door to a few other RP free companies too). If you're looking for something smaller than the Oath, there's also Guiding Light which is a fairly new startup. Their general thing is knowledge hunters- book thumpers, and the like. C'io is the one managing that outfit. Best of luck, regardless of where you choose to go!

I'd like to know this too! The more background you can provide, the more options we can put forward!

This is a little late but, ahem. Buying the apartment itself will run you 500,000 gil just to buy the base real estate in one of the apartment complexes (of which there are few, if any, left, so expect to pay more to get someone else to surrender theirs to you). Free company apartments run 300,000 gil. Either way, this is really only the tip of the iceburg because then you need to furnish the bloody thing. So, if you're looking for a gil sink, this is going to be it later. As a matter of philosophy, find yourself a free company that offers you the comraderie you want, and then worry about your apartment! Most active free companies have housing of some sort anyway. If you change free companies, you'll lose your apartment and be out the 300K too!

Bit late, but yeah, it's $10 to name change off the Mogstation. Blah!

Hey there, and welcome aboard the RPC and to the Balmung community! Khon sounds pretty cool- have you chosen what kind of direction you'd like to pick to go with the character? There's a lot of community niches out there that can get you pointed in a common direction with other characters, so you can spread your wings a bit there. I know, for example, there is a pretty decent following of characters/players who tackle the 'performance' niche (which involves everything from just text-based singing, to YouTube songs, on up to sync-streaming music with syncronized dancing/emotes - it can get impressively elaborate). That's not to say it's the only niche you could tackle, either- there's everything from treasure hunters, to knowledge seekers, clans, merchant houses and even organized crime to dip your toes into. Regardless of where you end up, best of luck on the hunt! Feel free to toss up a Making Connections post at some point too- it'll help a whole lot if you have an idea on what Khon would be interested in, and then you can find tons of other people to RP with!

Hey there and welcome aboard to the RPC! Looks like a pretty good start with Katsu- once you figure out what kind of direction you want to head into, you should toss up a Making Connections post and you can hit the ground running. There are a LOT of community niches out there, ranging from Miqo'te clans, to treasure hunters, knowledge seekers, merchant groups and even organized crime such as the mob. Life can get pretty interesting, pretty fast!

Hey there and welcome aboard to the RPC, FFXIV, and hopefully Balmung! There is definitely an EU presence on Balmung- you may need to do a bit of searching, but it is certainly still your best bet for finding RP in general. Balmung is choke-full of it! Can't say much on the subject of Gilgamesh, though. Regardless, the $18 fee is worth it.

Hey there and welcome aboard to the RPC and to RP on Balmung! Looks like you've got a pretty good solid foundation for your character already! What's next is probably to decide the kind of direction you'd like to take the Crescent Moon. There's a lot of potential niches with smaller communities built up around them- anywhere from Miqo'te (master race) clans, to treasure / knowledge hunters, even on up to organized crime. You can also toss up a Making Connections post here on the RPC as a means to hit the ground running, too! -
balmung Miqo'te Widow Attempts to "Get Out" More
Thunderbolt300 replied to Shona's topic in Chronicled Connections
Hey there and welcome aboard to the RPC and to Balmung! Can't promise you any romantic connections, but the Coven tavern will be doing our regular open RP night this evening and you're certainly welcome to come by! You're also welcome to run into Kasi as well, who is more of a wandering mercenary, trader, cook, and occasional bartender. She's pretty pro-Miqo'te, so her disposition tends to be very strong towards her kin. -
Hey there, and welcome aboard to the RPC and to FFXIV! Best of luck on the hunt! Ultimately if you're after RP first and foremost, you'll likely want to move onto Balmung here at some point. It is, frankly, a night and day difference and very much worth the $18 (plus you can do a mass move all at once for multiple characters at the same time)!

Hey there and welcome aboard to the RPC and to RP in general! Starting with a fairly dull and mundane character is definitely not a weakness- RP is a lot about character development and story evolution, so being able to build up from a blank slate is actually pretty good and leaves you with a lot of options for the future. The more you RP, the more of the story you'll start to pen, and before long you'll find your stride. Backstories and histories are all well and good, of course, but they're more a spice and perhaps some common ground to be shared with other characters. That said, if you want to get off to the races, tossing up a Making Connections post here on the RPC may help you quite a bit too. This is even more helpful if you have a general idea of what direction you'd like to take your character as well, because there are a lot of niches in the community. You can join a clan, a treasure hunting company, knowledge seekers, vigilante soldiers, or even organized crime. The possibilities are pretty well limitless!

balmung Mafia Guild looking for connections.
Thunderbolt300 replied to Lilira Lira's topic in Chronicled Connections
That... actually jives pretty well. The Coven currently is trying to offload a bunch of relics and artifacts from Amdapor from an earlier (*cough*Talan*cough*) event and encounter heisting them from a convoy. Entirely possible that Coco has heard a rumor in the underworld about where this stuff is currently. In that case, she could visit the tavern and order the bloody mary and inquire in the back rooms about arranging a purchase! -
More master-race is never a bad thing! You'd be surprised how many Miqo'te love using that poncho chestpiece, too. That said, there are two "clans" here on Balmung I know of: the Morbolvine Clan (which is much more wilderness, wild, traditional Miqo'te) and the Shroudwolf Clan (which is more progressive, a bit more civilization-focused, but still loosely tribal). Both of these FC's are actually fairly heavily intertwined both in leadership and interactions. Shroudwolf is linked in my signature, and Morbolvine doesn't currently have any active RPC posts advertising them (but they are definitely active in-game). Their most recent post is here in the archive: http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/showthread.php?tid=7564 This is not to say you shouldn't try your idea, though! There's a LOT of Miqo'te on Balmung, and there's certainly room for new entries aplenty. That said, if you're squeamish or unsure about leading and being responsible for an FC, either of these might present a good option for you instead. Aside from that, looking at other "clans" here on Balmung will probably give you some ideas of your own and ways you can make your own clan unique in its own special way!

Wanders in, yawns, sips her coffee, murders a virgin woman on an altar to some dark, nameless god, organizes the desk and then feeds the fish out in the lobby As always, we're still looking for additional allies, enemies, rivals, and employees! Happy to say that so far, we've managed to link up with just about everyone here so far and link them in via various ways that suit them best- and with more encounters being planned in the future!
