Welcome to the RPC! If you're lucky you can sometimes get on right after the server comes up after maintenance or a server crash, but it's hard to do. Best bet is to do a transfer like you were saying.

I've got my tumblr setup for Nef finally. It's both IC and OOC but all FFXIV roleplay based. It's a sub-blog of my main account so you won't see Nef following any blogs sadly. Doesn't mean i'm not following you! As to the whole forum/tumblr discussion, I think each has their place. I like the forums for the static nature of it. If I want to see what events are coming up it's right there. Lore information? Awesome! But tumblr is awesome for not only journals but also just socialization. It's a far better place to share screencaps and funny bits from RP. Amazing for posting stories IMHO. So I use both! I've even made my own google calendar to keep track of RP events. I need reminders!

When I read this tidbit I too was intrigued and nearly went and changed Nef's facepaint to red. However, after thinking about it (and realizing I simply didn't like the look of it) I think that you are correct in that there are probably different colors/patterns for different things. I also believe that there might be variations based on family/tribe not to mention individual beliefs. It would be cool if we could come up with something of a general directory but since paint & designs are pretty much universal for all characters it would be hard. Perhaps if we wanted to put on our character bios what our facepaint is and what it signifies to our character, THAT would be awesome. And... an invite to all non Keeper players to ask about the paint and what it means.

-Race Lore Masterpost Welcome to Eorzea and the RPC! The above is an ever-expanding compilation of lore related to the races including their interbreeding, history, origins, and naming conventions. Finding lore for this game can be rather difficult until you know where to look because of its spread out nature so I try to be a helpful resource. Feel free to ask in this thread or in the RP Discussions section if you have any specific lore questions! ^^ Just the post I was going to Link. It's been a huge help. The problem with a lot of lore is that too much of it is just bits and pieces gleaned from quests, usually easy to miss side ones. I actually went through the whole MSQ on another server before I started RPing and even then there are still a lot of lore that I just don't know. But that's ok... because.. do YOU know the entirety of human history? Noe. So neither should your character be expected to know every little detail. Best place to start is from your race because that IS something your character should know. Learn about how they think and what they do, but don't let that limit you. Exceptions to the rules do exist, but the lore is a good frame work to start with. Take Nef... She's more personable than the 'norm' for Keepers of the Moon, but when you look at her core personality she's still very much like the rest of her clan. How you flesh out your character really varies from player to player. Some have to just jump in the RP and discover their character as they go along. Me... I found this huge character sheet that was like a questionnaire to answer from my character's POV. Doing that made me really think about her and get into her headspace, which is actually quite different from my own. And don't feel like you have to have every single aspect of your character written in stone. There's huge parts of Nef (and her siblings for that matter) that are still blank and we just fill in the blanks as we go along. Makes for more dynamic RP that way. When you need to fill in that blank you can stop and ask yourself "Hey, how can i use this to make a better plot?" Take a situation and tweek it to make things more interesting. If you have any specific questions always feel free to ask in the character workshop forum! Nope, since I think modding is sorta a grey area, not to mention those playing on consoles can't mod. I really wish there was a log parser to save RP scenes but.. oh well....

*waves* Welcome to the RPC! Hrm.. as for the crystal thing I can't comment on it but I know there are a lot of resources not only here but on the official lore forum.

If you have more than one character you're transferring, I'd say go ahead and do the same thing with them. Get them to the point where you unlock airships and have them be able to traverse the different city-states. It would also not be a bad idea to flesh out your character if you're not already done that! I'm also seconding some additional leveling for better gear selection as well. Question, though. When you started playing the game, did you start as a trial account then later purchased the game itself? If so, then yes. You'll have to wait until your account becomes Standard. Yeah, i did, but it says Standart account on my account page. I guess ill propably have to get a game card first... meh I think the wording specifies that you have to have your first payment charged specifically before you can transfer. Man and I was so looking forward to seeing ya. Oh well, it will have to be after new years then, probably... I'll be out of town and not sure if I'll be able to log in while away. In the meantime, I'd do what some of the others have said and make a few alts. Get them up so they can get their retainers (25 I think?) DO NOT HIRE THEM, just unlock the ability to get them. Retainers = storage space & AH sell slots. Each character gets 2.

I'll take this suggestion. Thanks! Ahh but confusion can lead to such awesome RP! That being said I can't wait for this. A good mixer is always needed to help us just getting settled in on the server.

I just updated a few things today as well. cleared up height/weight, added some more religious views,etc.

Although I am older than many that I talk to, I'm afraid LOtRD predates not just my teenage years, but even my family's first computer. We did not get a computer until my mom went to college. And thanks, I look forward to talking with you more! LOL! Now I feel ancient, though I shouldn't. Advantages for having an Electrical Engineer for a dad.... *coughs a few times then goes to hide in a corner while telling herself she isn't THAT old*

Aww.. it's Legend of the Red Dragon. One of the first MMOs. Old BBS door game, predates MUDs. Was so awesome. When I head dialup internet I think BBSs, which, really, are not dialup internet so... my bad. In any case glad to see ya joining us!

That would be awesome. Thursday night is teh Black and White ball, dunno if the HoD are doing their tavern night still or not. As long as IRL doesn't get in the way I'll be going to one or the other. Satruday is the sunny seaside bar, I've been so looking forward to that. I'm on at odd hours so feel free to friend me and ping me if you want some RPz. Nef is always bouncing around everywhere so it's not hard to come up with IC reasons to be somewhere. Just hope I can hit 50 before the ball and get glamours unlocked.
