What happens when two shy people offer up their contact info to each other? ...absolutely nothing! Neither one has the nerves to approach the other! I feel you on this one, Selarian. And I don't take it as an offense when people don't contact me in-game. I figure it's either a matter where we aren't online at the same time, or that the other person is fighting just as much anxiety as I am. The one time I sent a message to someone else in-game, even after they gave me express permission on here, I nearly had a full-blown panic attack. I'm prone to looking people up in the player search, then sitting there for a good half hour or so trying to make myself send a /tell but just can't do it. The intent is there. The follow-through is... difficult... This....just....yes. Or your hands are shaking so badly you hit the submit button and then spend three minutes having a freak out.

Video Game Hardware (mice, keyboards etc) Seem to also be covered by this. So long as it's got the line of text, it's in the promotion.

I....could use a hug right now. I'm going through some crappy anxiety about one of my characters and it's just not leaving me in a good headspace.

Does a half pint character come off as too annoying? Too sarcastic? Too goofy/cheerful? She teases people she likes but does she do it too much? She's genre savvy because of her background, do I make her too perceptive? Do people think she's boring, trying to hard, obsessive, or weird? For my other: Is her being Sharlayan putting people off rping with her? Is she too sassy? Too sassy is better than being a doormat with the emotions mild and anxious, right? Does she sound like a dictionary? She's a scholar so she's really smart but I do my best to keep my vocabulary so that people can understand her. For me: Do I come off as too sarcastic, annoying, weird or trying too hard oocly? I like talking with people but what if I'm just being a nuisance and no-one's telling me? Do I type too slowly in a scene? Are my posts too small because of that? And when I do post a paragraph post is it too long? :cry: Anxiety sucks.

I had thought about that, but I was worried it'd be a little god mod-y since the main characters use it. Do alot of people really use it in rp? Like I said I'm pretty new to the ffxiv scene and I came from wow, where even bending lore a little bit or playing a non ingame race will get you blacklisted. So you think people wouldnt do that here if I explained it that way? I haven't seen it often but I have seen it. I think that a lot of people do shy away from it because of the main story characters having it but it's been said in multiple places that normal run of the mill adventurer/people can be Touched By the Echo. There's several other people in the MSQ (Main Story Quests) that have the Echo as well, not just the Warrior of Light. I think that if you spun it the right way or your character didn't have omniscience because of her ability it wouldn't be too terribly received. You might have to make it so she just had vague feelings instead of full out visions, but she could sense danger coming to her party, or whether a person would have good luck in fishing today or if they should wait to tomorrow or have their fortunes read etc. I think maybe full on visions would probably be too godmody, but a very intense gut feeling type of thing wouldn't for rp Those are just my thoughts on the matter though

There's an ability that the many people in Eorzea and beyond have called the Echo. It manifests differently for everyone. Some might be able to see the memories of others, some could see brief glimpses of the future, another might be able to understand every language spoken. So on and so fourth. Normal people can have the echo just as much as the overpowered Main Story Character so I don't see why your character couldn't be able to see the future in some capacity. I know I used that ability for one of my character's mom. But her visions were always random and set in a random time in the future and she couldn't ever change the outlook of them.

Aloe is known by the Miqo'te to treat burns. Belladonna can make a potent sleeping poison. Powder from Bitter Foxglove is more deadly than normal Foxglove. Chamomile is a thing and probably has the same soothing effects as it does in real life. Coneflower is believed to relieve several different ailments. Dandelion stalks are filled with a toxic milky substance but the leaves and roots can be dried and used in medicinal infusions. Here is where I was getting my information!

I think I may have found a name that works. It actually came out of the randomizer: Kagemusa/Kagemusha. Insofar as I can tell it's also the name of a 1980's movie but means 'Shadow Warrior' which is the aesthetic I was going for. (影 and 武者)

Haha. Thanks guys The 'Kage' part of the name is purely for me considering that Raen noble names are warbased. I wanted something with sword/blade (Ken, tachi, tsurugi etc) that sounded ninja-ish as well. It was honestly a toss up between Kaze/Fu: 風 and Kage: 影. But the shadowy part of the name is simply for me *shrug* I can probably find a generated name that fits well enough. If...you know...I can find the meaning of the generated names. Half of them don't seem to be proper Japanese which is probably why it's silly to worry over something like this. I'm trying to keep the name as lore friendly as possible while also not butchering the language of a place I admire.

I would have done just this but then I started to worry if it would make people facepalm or something of the sort so I thought it better to ask. My next idea was to just translate it into English and just use that instead >.<

Um....I have absolutely no experience using kanji but Google tells me that this 剣 is Tsurugi and this 影 is Kage while this 太刀 is Tachi. I take this with a giant grain of salt though.

I have two surnames I'm considering for my Raen nobles: Tachikage and Tsurugikage. I'm fairly certain that both of those mean 'Shadow Blade/Sword' in some way, shape or form but seeing as the extent of my knowledge of Japanese is saying 'Hello' I thought it best to ask here on which name doesn't butcher the language to the Void and back...I'm very sorry for bothering people over such a small detail but I've been trying to figure this out for three weeks now.
