  1. For Rogier my initial inspiration would have been Jade Curtis. For Lubblyss it would be a quirky mix of the main heroes from Forbidden kingdom. Though your can mostly ignore the durp with the red shirt
  2. RP Roes are like Unicorns, only the pure of heart can see us. We're out there! If you ever see Obsidian Hornet in game feel free to say hi! I have horded them all for myself. You cannot have them mwuahaha! No honestly there are a number of us out there. Stop the by the Bismarck or Drowning Wench sometime. Swyrbhrat aka Meat will be happy to wine and dine you then send you out on some shady mission that may cost you your life. I knew there was more behind that food than kindness!
  3. If you see Lubblyss about feel free to send a tell. I may not be RPing at the moment, but if I don't look like a roe on a mission, I am probably deciding what to do next ^.^ And RP is always on that docket. Wiki
  4. This. Also, Pallys can use CNJ skills to heal themselves AND use stoneskin. Unless I am remembering WAR wrong, no healing magics for you. Just whatever skills you get for self heals. Also, pallys get to BLOCK alot of dmg that warriors take square on the chin, and while yes that is a more "come at be bro" style of fighting it makes for alot more healer work to even out the dmg spikes of a WAR. (also of note, SCH storyline pretty much says explicitly SCH you where MADE to heal WAR go forth and play your role.)
  5. I checked this thread when it started, but all I had was a rather reclusive Mage at the time. Since then I have made an alt that will be about the streets of Ul'dah, feel free to send me a tell if you see me and aren't sure if I am IC or not. I'd love to start getting her some more RP friends, even if they are mere acquaintances that pass in the streets and wave sometimes. The jist for her is that she is working in the heavy Refugee area of Ul'dah to help those that have lost everything in the calamity. If that seems like something your character would be able to talk about, or catch her in the act of, feel free to hit me up ^.^ Name: Lubblyss Zwelfskalwyn This is her very much in the works
  6. Personally after all the crap the XBone was proposed to have that microsoft had to retcon I want nothing to do with the system. Now, that aside I follow a great rule. Always wait until the second release(first updated) of the new systems so that everyone else who was silly enough to pre-order can deal with all the bugs and errors that a new system will have(and these will only get worse as the tech get more advanced).
  7. Awesome! Did you catch their names? I'd love to RP with them since Salty is a reformed pirate. She might try to recruit them! It makes sense for their to be all lady pirate groups, really! What Bryn said Salty, and sadly they they are NPCs...sorry to get your hopes up Salty >.> should have been more clear. Just thought I should mention them since it clearly means that such groups exist in NPC form. ^.^
  8. Name: Lubblyss Zwelfskalwyn Nicknames/Aliases: Datura (open to others) This character should be leveled enough to be ready for RP starting this Wednesday, should any of you other (Balmung) Roes want to hit me up for RP. Wiki
  9. Poking around Limsa I found what appears to be a ladies only pirate group. They are in a little off building by themselves near the aft castle.
  10. Character Name:Lubblyss Zwelfskalwyn aka Datura Hells/Sea?: Hellsguard Gender:Female Timezone: EST Looking for?: Anyone interesting Server: Balmung 2. Does your character fit the 'common' lore of your Roegadyn or are they singular? (Eg. Raised by hyur so does not understand X or Y = singular) Yes& No While Hellsguard she has only translated her name in an effort to make things easier for "The city folk" she still keeps her last name and bears it with pride. He reasons for leaving her home are to help those hurt by the calamity, so while she does adapt to some of the culture of society she still clings to her heritage. Her name has been translated to a flower she likes that is the definition of the two words that comprise her name, as opposed to using the two words (Eg. Datura VS Poison Blossom). 3. What are your Rp limits, if any? (Eg: no permadeath, no ERp etc) no permadeath, no ERP (pretty much it, though if you aren't sure ask ^.^)
  11. If you are on Balmung Try swinging by either the Coffin&coffer outside Ul'dah, or Costa Del Sol, or any of the adventurer guilds. Though not always occupied these seem to be the "hot spots" for random RP.
  12. There's pie!?! ::starts prepping disguises to get in line for the pie multiple times::
  13. We need some feedback on the above, if you would be so kind to answer the questions:- 1) Is this a background you can get into? Yes, very much so! 2) Do you prefer the war to the Cataclysm or the end events in 2.0? If the latter we could actually role play out history as Salty still needs to do those missions. I don't think I should speak to either as I would be joining up purely at the present time 3) Do you want to be one of the original 8 members? These would be considered officers or at least senior members in the Company. Nope. This character is not going to have participated in the event prior to ARR in any way other than civilian, so it wouldn't make sense. 4) Is everyone ok with this being a linkshell? LC/FC I'm up for either ^.^ 5) Anyone have more they could add? Hrmm only thing I can think of would be if option one(the ancient group reformed) is used you may consider looking into the story of "Noir"[the anime]. It has an ancient group that is (sort of) reformed and fun stuff ensues (it is also, as I remember, a female only group). Aside from maybe that as just an idea of a direction it could run in, It all looks like fun. (my Character for this would be Lubblyss Zwelfskalwyn<wiki>)

    Naming

In regards to Roe naming (since I am working on making a roe alt right now and have been knee deep in their stuff for the past couple days >.> ) " You will find the "old language" used in a lot of Sea Wolf names, as the Sea Wolves tend to adhere to the ancient traditions and customs the northern islands from which they hail. The Hellsguard, on the other hand, are more prone to adapt to their surroundings, and often choose to 'translate' their names from the old language to modern Eorzean. That said, the lines between the two clans aren't set in stone, and you will find some Hellsguard have chosen to use the old language in their names, and some Sea Wolves have given themselves "translated" names. " You will note that SE gave the go ahead for any Roe to have either naming scheme(but is based on if they are choosing to make things simple for the rest of Eaorzea to pronounce and understand, or if they want to keep their name.
  15. Ya...SCH doesn't have mana issues. Ever. A WHM's best friend is a Bard. Mages song is a Twelve sent, and a SCH with mage song is invinceable. (well mostly)
  16. I'm in pearl # 3 and on from 10pm to 5am useually. and I get on again for a bit around noon. I wouldn't mind taking some screens for you. any Hour(s) you would like targeted specifically? or just something like every couple hours take a pic?
  17. I can only think of 3 female Miqo'te NPCs that are serious and non-sexual, at least that I have encountered. There's the leader of the Maelstrom, the NPC you work with in the Arcanist questline, and Y'shotla (sp?). I guess you could count the Coeurlclaw Poachers? Otherwise, every single female Miqo I've seen that's an NPC has been a hooker or a dancing girl. There's even an otherwise serious NPC in Gridania (a questgiver) who uses the word "meow" in place of "now." I wanted to choke someone when I ran into her. While she's not super sexualized, the NPC is a joke. The coeurlclaw poachers are actually some of the worst tribes there are in regards to this. If you see the FATEs related to them, they're all basically the harem of the "Coeurlclaw King". That tribe has always bothered me because, as far as I know, they're literally the only Keeper of the Moon tribe you can see NPCs of in a tribal culture, and they're all presented as concubines to their king even though lore says keepers are supposed to be a matriarchy (some of them literally being named "Coeurlclaw Concubine"). I cannot remember If they are related or not, but I think the main "villian" from the archer quest line is one of the Coeurlclaw and is called the leader. Though it could be another clan all together, and Either way the leader is a strong female Miqo who is pretty bamf in my opinion. Maybe someone who paid more attention to the Archer lore can tell you more, but The group seemed less sexually obsessed and more focused on keeping Seekers together as one. But yes, that FATE is weird and stupid(but so good for EXP)

The Miqo that "instructs" you durring the Archer quest line is serious. and I think there are several Miqo around in normal cloths doing stuff like handing out fliers. ((i'd have to wander around looking for them for specifics)) Also, the Summoner questline has a Scholarly Miqo you get your quests from. ::thinks:: I'm sure there are more!

    Random Idea

still the issues listed above by a few people of a child being around. But it is not so dangerous for some Pugilist(for example) to teach a kid in passing how to punch properly, or kick. Far less dangerous than teaching them Fire 1. And plenty of kinds play with wooden swords, or a staff as though it were a spear. Archery or Ax wielding on the other hand would be awkward to try and teach a kid in passing.

    Random Idea

Hehe. Sorry for the confusion. Madda is back from learning more about them. Madda was aiming for either an offensive spell caster (Black Mage, since Madda can't spell whatever class comes before that) or a Summoner. The only problem I would have with a Child learning Arcanist spells by just asking around and not devoting themselves to any sort of Proper study is that Arcanist spells are based on Aetheric geometries(meaning high level math type stuff) While a child could learn to Chanel the elementals power for Conjuration (or even follow in the footsteps of the Child caster from the Conjuror quest-line) OR they could learn to Chanel their own Aetheric energies into Thaumaturge spells for black magic for some comic effect/damage. But the whole basis of the Arcanist line of casting is to understand the principles and math behind their geometries to cast their spells. Though regardless of what Caster class is pursued from what I have seen here the child would be more of a comical effect character and likely not even be able to properly cast the level 10 spells. If you have played the Conjuror quest-line you will know that this can lead to some really terrible consequences. Simply put, magic isn't something that is safe in this world, every time you cast a spell you risk killing either yourself or something around you. While a child may be able to somewhat learn magic in the manner you described it would be very dangerous for both those around the child and the child themselves. Edit: on the note of being a Summoner: To be a summoner one must first have defeated the Primal in battle and then call forth their essence for yet another battle to (for lack of a better term) enslave the primal's essence. this would require the Child the IN Character to have not only battled with a primal, but WON. Simply put I could never take that seriously. frankly, any mage that would teach a passing child magic like it is a parlor trick in this game would be a terrible person and not likely to exist in this game for that reason.
  21. I wouldn't mind some long hairstyles for the guys. or just better options for the guys in general, right now it seems like the guys hairstyles all came from the first page of barber shops basic high schoolers styles(with a couple more bald options)
  22. as far as the dyeing quest is concerned, lvl 1-15 has so much gear changing that dyeing your gear before then is kind of pointless. it would be nice if they made it available in every city, but otherwise I have no problem with it. (also if you do the right quest you get the orange juice for free )
  23. How in the Nine hells would you get to 50 without having done copperbell? FATEing? cause if so, you probably have no idea how to function in a party and really should have just done the quest line provided to open those dungeons.(also of note until you do the first level 15 story quest in limsa you cannot even reach gridania or Ul'dah) The FATE system and its unholy leveling powers has already caused quite a bit of problems basically because of people rushing to 50 without doing their story quests and learning the role their class is meant for. There a too many players as it is getting to the later dungeons with no idea what they should be doing because they just grabed the FATE train to rushed to 50, instead of running their dungeons a few times(maybe grinding for gear). Sure, some of the hard core die hard MMO people might be able to do that and get away with it, but the people playing it cause FF is in the title and the people who are just starting their first MMO are suffering because of this idea. Also it wouldn't hurt for those die hards to spend some time grinding the lower dungeons and do their story quest and loving it, because then they could help those poor noobs learn the ins and outs of their class BEFORE they hit final dungeons and have tanks or healers drop the dungeon because someone is new(yes this happens more than you would think). If in stead of being so hard core must play end game only, players would chill out and play the entire game, they may just find they have more skilled players (and properly geared) to enjoy end game with. ****Disclaimer***** This was not directed at anyone here, just had to rant a bit when I saw the topic. =)
  24. Skipping the cutscene does not make it so that you do not have to the quest itself, though. Skipping cutscenes will not magically grant you access to dungeons or primal battles. All I'm saying is that I feel that it would be really nice if the developers made it so that players had a variety of ways of unlocking the same content. You'd have to put in the same amount of effort, but you'd have more than one way to go about it. Why would you want to play any game with RPG in the classification that didn't have a cool story to play through? In fact I don't think FF fans would even let the producers live if they tried to make a game where the story wasn't integral to the whole thing. though loads of side quests and extra bits are just as required. But FF is KNOWN for story. Maybe you could get away with, here is the world level and open the dungeons, if you were in a world like Star wars, or star trek or some such. Just enough of the idea that you are this, you know the world from the movies, go! But, with FF each game is its own unique world (disregarding that 13 nonsense they have been pulling and x-2) and as such, you need the story to understand what the world is. otherwise its just a bunch of people in weird armour running around for who knows what. The lore, is why i love FF. It should require story. Skipping story should only be for when you have been there done that on another character.
  25. ^ What I have been saying the whole time. The mobs there are good for 3-5k exp PER-SPAWN of the group. get yourself a party with a BLM and a tank with flash and you can rake in the exp while the FATEs are waiting to pop. makes things go much faster. also 2 spawned groups between fates is aprx 10k exp. considering at 47 gold at a FATE in N. Than gets you 12k exp. (not counting the exp gain from kills) it is like a mini FATE while you wait =)
