Though he does go off on trips now from time to time, thanks to the new flow of coin. -Introduction- Once an honest man of the sea hailing from Limsa Lominsa, Jace lost his ship during a massive storm brought on by one of the many primals who have been making a resurgence throughout Eorzea. Now, with the help of his newfound friends from Ember Adventuring Co, Jace has a new source of income, as well as renewed purpose. Aiding both them and the company in the form of Bounty collecting and going on various hunts. -Hooks- Honor: Ever since his days as a sailor, Jace has held himself to high standards in the form of a code. "Do not maim or kill if you can help it. Do not leave a beast to suffer. Do not write off all criminals a guilty, wanted or otherwise. And Keep accepting charity to an absolute minimum." Social: A habit developed by most who work at sea. One of which, Jace is no exception. Whenever given the chance, Jace will always try and see what all the fuss is about within the local taverns, as well as lend an ear to those with the time. Wry humor: Though polite he may be, Jace is a big fan of sarcasm. But with how he goes about it, it can be hard to tell the difference with him in some cases. Gunblade Proficiency: Having learned the art of combat at an early age thanks to a brief tour of duty with Maelstrom, Jace has developed an affinity for Gunblades. Being able to clash swords with the best of them, and place a shot just as well. -Looking for- Friends, and lots of them. I. Basic Info Character: Keir Loell (Currently it is Keir Loel, but I am fighting support for his old name.) Linkshell: Order of the Stormguard II. RP Style Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): Medium Views on RP combat and injuries: OOC agreements ahead of time. Also, no healing unless I give agreement. Views on IC romance: I'm open, but not looking for it. Keir isn't the ladies' man he used to be. Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): Talk to me first? I'm still getting caught up. I don't know if anyone remembers me or not, because it's been a long, long, long time. I don't plan on leading any linkshells or doing any moderating or anything like that. I don't even plan to RP all that hardcore, and I'm still kind of iffy on the game, but I missed Keir. A lot. I'm still trying to get his old name back.

Let's just dive in to that juicy backstory, huh? Spoilers for Stormblood ahead. Law Rose, formerly Laurentus oen Aelius, was a young, rookie member of the XIVth Imperial Legion shortly before the events of Operation Archon. Laurentus was technically spared from the battle at the Praetorium due to still being in training, but believed himself to be at fault for not participating and, at the very least attempting to protect Gaius and his tribunes, whom he saw as role models. The feelings of uselessness led him to seek strength by any means necessary, leading him to volunteer for a series of experiments into the Echo being conducted by Aulus mal Asina. Unlike later, more successful trials, these early attempts were far more, well, experimental. At one point, Laurentus was subject to a surgical procedure on one of his eyes, leaving him with a large scar. With the experiments deemed a failure, Laurentus was sent back to the front lines as a member of the XIIth Imperial Legion. However, shortly after his redeployment, Laurentus disappeared from his post, not to be seen again. Disillusioned with his country, Laurentus took the persona of Law Rose, wandering Sharlayan mercenary. Law tried, for a time, to maintain neutrality toward world events, but eventually, he would take issue with the sheer amount of Primals wreaking havoc on the world, and dedicate his efforts toward thwarting them every time they should be summoned, and taking preventative measures to halt their summoning in the first place. As a person, Law is very closed and taciturn. He sees himself as having no home in Eorzea or in Ilsabard. He fears the fallout of being discovered as a Garlean, and as such he is hesitant to make ties with anyone. As a pureblooded Garlean, Law cannot manipulate aether. Because of this, he has grown to see magic as a wild and dangerous practice, more trouble than it's worth. How much of this is simply jealousy, however, is uncertain. During his time with the XIVth, Law was trained in the art of the imperial gunblade, as well as how to pilot and maintain magitek vehicles and other machinery. He also knows his way around a pair of knives, mainly because using an imperial gunblade in open combat may raise suspicion. Now, the big question I have is: would it make any sense for Law to have some form of artificial echo, or is it strictly canon that Fordola is the first to have sort of success with that? Does it even make sense for Aulus to take on a pureblood Garlean as a guinea pig? Other than that, though, I think the story should more or less check out? I'll be honest, when I make a character in an existing setting, usually I try to keep them a good distance from the main characters, but it's way too tempting to tie this character in with the XIVth, so I guess I'm a hypocrite.

I'm planning on making a character for RP that's the son of a Ishgardian Hyur merchant. Having just gone through most of Heavensward and it's patches' storylines, I'm somewhat aware of how things in Ishgard work currently, but I've not been able to find any solid information yet on how Ishgardian Hyur surnames are structured. I've noticed with the Ishgardian Elezen that their names seem to draw inspiration from French, but I've not noticed any significant portrayals of Ishgardian Hyur to be able to come up with a proper last name for my character. That said, I'd like to ask if anyone knows if Ishgardian Hyur surnames follow general Hyur surname structure, or if there's differences I should be aware of so I can better name my character; In addition if there are differences, what language (if not french) would an Ishgardian Hyur surname draw inspiration from? Knowing any of this would greatly help me to be able to give my character a proper name.
