Zelmanov Posted March 25, 2015 Share #1 Posted March 25, 2015 "How about fighting alongside a friend?" "Aye, I can do that" So the battle of Ishgard is getting a cool little trial involving fighting Vishap, as shown here. http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/pr/special/2_5_Before_the_Fall/ishgard/#patch As you read in the description, its not only Warriors of Light but Ishgardian Knights. So I know a character like mine, will be there and actually tickling Vishap's feet. Who else wants to experience that particular battle along side me (Orrin) for part of their character canon? Is this better put in looking for connections? I'm not sure. Link to comment
Leon Posted March 25, 2015 Share #2 Posted March 25, 2015 My character Leon actually has some ties to the Knights of Ishgard, as such I can totally see him fighting Vishap alongside your character, so if you will have him, he will gladly join the fray. https://wiki.ffxiv-roleplayers.com/pages/Leon_Greymoon , so you can take a gander. Dat Oni Posted March 25, 2015 Share #4 Posted March 25, 2015 "Silence, you. The Dragon eats the pious and impious alike." Link to comment
Steel Wolf Posted March 25, 2015 Share #5 Posted March 25, 2015 Yanno? I could see this working out as a neat piece of writing for Steel's headcanon. She has no ties--and even less love--to Ishgard, but she's willing to lend her strength if it means dragons don't get to snack on innocent citizenry. To extend the reference, "You have my axe!" Zelmanov Posted March 25, 2015 Author Share #6 Posted March 25, 2015 I'm happy to see some replies! I'll get things in motion once the actual patch drops! I just want to see who will show. Link to comment
Zelmanov Posted March 31, 2015 Author Share #7 Posted March 31, 2015 *SPOILERS, SKIP ENTIRE POST* So! Thankfully the lore shows that not only the warrior of light and pals but also Sellswords, especially those in Mor Dhona show up to fight the fight. So, this really is a chaotic, massive battle. Not only that but there seems to be an offscreen fight at steel vigil concurrently. Given the strenuous nature of the battle. I would really like people who have cleared the fight successfully before to maximize the cool factor of incorporating it into their personal story. If people want to do it fresh with our group. I'll be more than glad to instruct, Orrin is a Dragoon and perhaps most likely well versed in emergency combat scenarios as these. So I can explain the strategy in character to maintain immersion. Whoever is still on board, please tell me, or contact me in game, I'd love to do something this weekend. Link to comment
Seriphyn Posted April 1, 2015 Share #8 Posted April 1, 2015 Kale can be there as a marauder IC ("Surely axes work best 'gainst ploughin' dragons!") or gladiator IC, really. Or I can go as something else suitably Ul'dahn. He'll be there as one of the Immortal Flame soldiers sent by Raubahn I'm also happy to concede the spot to someone else. There are plenty of areas where the battle is fought other than the Steps of Faith. Link to comment
Flashhelix Posted April 1, 2015 Share #9 Posted April 1, 2015 I'd be willing to join up as a sellsword (and DPS, since that's my only role). I've gotten a clear before. Link to comment
V'aleera Posted April 1, 2015 Share #10 Posted April 1, 2015 Like I said, I can NPC for you if need be. Link to comment
Hyakki Posted April 1, 2015 Share #11 Posted April 1, 2015 I'd like to join as a sellsword DPS, I already have my clear. Link to comment
ChewableMorphine Posted April 1, 2015 Share #12 Posted April 1, 2015 Flynt knows his way around cannons, if you'd have him join your rag-tag unit. Link to comment
KitKat Posted April 1, 2015 Share #13 Posted April 1, 2015 You already know that Katriane will be there as a healer. Link to comment
Steel Wolf Posted April 1, 2015 Share #14 Posted April 1, 2015 Reaffirming my want to run this with you this weekend. I've run the instance once already, but it was a great deal of fun. Will run again, especially for the purposes of RPs. :3 Link to comment
Warren Castille Posted April 1, 2015 Share #15 Posted April 1, 2015 I'm only just up to this trial, but I've been noodling if Warren would answer the call to arms or not ICly. On one hand, I don't like sticking my characters into the actual game lore. On the other hand, this is quite literally a call to arms for people to go help. Could be neat. Link to comment
Berrod Armstrong Posted April 1, 2015 Share #16 Posted April 1, 2015 Berrod's on the NOPE train on that one. He'll offer what resources he can to those in his company who want to go, though. Link to comment
Zelmanov Posted April 1, 2015 Author Share #17 Posted April 1, 2015 I went by post order of who gets in, with preference for named characters over sellsword or Ishgardian NPCs Right so the team so far looks like: Tanks : Evangeline Primrose Steel Wolf Healers: Katriane Hiver (Empty) DPS: Orrin Gwannes Oskwell Seiko Mamushi Flynt Reddard on reserve : Leon Greymoon (class unknown) Warren Castille (Class unknown, participation unknown) Kale Aideron (Marauder/tank) So we need a healer! V'aleera Posted April 1, 2015 Share #18 Posted April 1, 2015 I've only ever done the trial as DPS so I don't have experience healing it, but the damage output did not seem particularly high (assuming people dodge stuff). It may or may not be possible to simply do the fight with one healer. Link to comment
Chris Ganale Posted April 1, 2015 Share #19 Posted April 1, 2015 My group's planning an eventual 1 tank/1 healer go at it. Link to comment
Gegenji Posted April 1, 2015 Share #20 Posted April 1, 2015 I've only ever done the trial as DPS so I don't have experience healing it, but the damage output did not seem particularly high (assuming people dodge stuff). It may or may not be possible to simply do the fight with one healer. When I did it as a SCH, I spent almost the entire time maintaining DoTs and maybe throwing out a Succor or two after group-wide damage. I don't know if you could drop the second healer ENTIRELY, though, as you can with the second tank. Link to comment
V'aleera Posted April 1, 2015 Share #21 Posted April 1, 2015 Also since the idea to run this battle IC seems rather popular, I just want to say that if anyone needs to fill a healer or DPS slot for their own IC run I will be happy to provide a generic Ishgardian NPC for your group. Link to comment

I can play as healer if needed; just a different hairstyle and maybe a shave and I can play Berrod as someone else. You can put me down for a healer/DPS/Tank role, depending on if you need anything filled in the moment. Another opportunity to get a likeable character shredded into a bloody mess. Yes. 1 Link to comment
Khadan Posted April 1, 2015 Share #23 Posted April 1, 2015 I wouldn't mind doing this IC since Kayllen is all about getting his homeland 'back on track' so to speak. However I think this weekend might be a bit too soon with other story elements currently in the works. I will likely have to pass unless you wish to revisit it later when I actually do it as part of Kayllen's personal story and/or FC group plot. Either way he'll be going as sword-and-board or Dragoon depending on the circumstances. Link to comment
Darien Cadell Posted April 2, 2015 Share #24 Posted April 2, 2015 This was so yawn to heal when I did it in Dungeon Finder, I could have/should have spent the entire time in Cleric stance. If the tanks/cannon handlers already know the fight, I believe you could solo heal it easily. Good luck! Link to comment
