My character has fled Ul'dah. He wasn't comfortable with the increase in Brass Blades on the street, but since he is indebted to the Flames and the Flame General, in the public eye, has committed some treachery, he's flown the coup and hiding away from the Immortal Flames. Hopefully he can enjoy his freedom while it lasts. After he finds a new place to live since he packed up what little he had in his Ul'dahn practice, he's traveling to Coerthas to make money a lot of money help the poor souls in that area.

As I said in the other thread, Swift's dialogue leads me to believe that he'd be checking leads on any potentially-loyal current or former Flames, so that's an in at least for Ganale. Tahz is too busy with his mentor in Coerthas (maybe) dying at the Steps of Faith, Chao has her own shit to deal with right now, and none of my Domans have a dog in that fight.

Big day for Ryoko Stormsong. Despite the general ignorance that comes with being someone who literally lives in a utility closet, even she heard of the unrest in Coerthas. I'd been rather enjoying my little plot about searching for the missing sword, but obviously this more or less required Ryoko to return home.

Getting there was simple enough. Sell-swords were headed North by the wagon-load, so getting back to Coerthas was much easier than leaving it in the first place. Once at Camp Dragonhead, she volunteered her services. The Fortemps knights were reluctant to place her and her sister into battle, knowing full well that the Stormsong daughters had no real combat-relevant skills, but they were both old enough to die for their country, and anyone can hold a spear and shield. So they were soon placed among a spear levy, comprised of one hundred and sixty Coerthan peasants and being led by a handful of professional soldiers.

Ryoko's unit never did make it to that bridge. They were intercepted by a patrol of wyverns en route. The inexperienced levymen were wholly unprepared for an ambush, and their numbers rapidly thinned. The battle heavily favored the Dravanian forces. When the Fortemps knights fell, the remaining peasants lost their nerve and the line collapsed. A lucky few broke for the forest, with Ryoko and Mishka among them.

No news of Barrett Stormsong yet. Doubtless he entered the fray on that bridge, but it is yet unknown if he now walks in Valhalla. Either way, Ryoko will most certainly feel great shame for fleeing the battle for some time, but that hasn't even reached her mind yet. Before that battle, she'd never witnessed death. Today, she watched over ten dozen men all brutally slain within a matter of minutes. She's currently crying herself to sleep in a snowbank, afraid to even consider leaving the woods, not knowing of Ishgard's victory. Last she saw, the world was burning down around her.

It was not a fun day.

Well Erik is out of the Sworn anyway as of after the Royal Ball, so that's one. As for the Flame side, unless someone told Erik directly, which they would not, he knows nothing. He's a soldier after all he knows what he is told. OOC I'm sticking around for the Civil War we all see coming.

He may know the General is in irons, but Erik has great respect for him. If evidence came to public view, Erik would follow Big R in a civil war.

Imogene knows the public story with Sultana's sickness and Raubahn murdering a Syndicate member, suspects something much deeper and worse has happened, and may or may not know more about the truth but keeps quiet about it. For the time being she stays away from Ul'dah and encourages her friends to do the same until things quiet down a little.

I actually have some concerns about what I should do about this. I just finished the story, and I may need some advice.

This may or may not have big implications for my character.

Long story short, Ryanti's family is heavily invested in the marketplace in Ul'Dah with the family business, as well as his family having root in Ul'Dah for many of the more recent generations. They also have had multiple generations of his family members being in the military, the Flames specifically. Business-wise, I doubt anything would change. Subjugation is a painfully slow and drawn out process when it comes to an entire city state. So as far as the family business goes of producing and selling cutlery, flatware and tableware, I don't think that will be too affected by anything. Especially considering that it is branching out to other city-states, even though their headquarters are in Ul'Dah..

However...

Ryanti's family is on the Royalist side, and Ryanti's father was a Bloodsworn before he retired. Would his father be at that banquet? I doubt it but... would he know someone who was?

Would that mean Ryanti would know something? Perhaps. The Veanysus family isn't the wealthiest but definitely has centuries invested in Ul'Dah.

Ryanti normal job is peacekeeping.. your every day routine enforce of Ul'Dah and it's property.

Though, it would be more realistic to think that, in his invisible Black Label unit (Or his real job..) Ryanti would find his steady pace of mission prerogatives suddenly... stopping. As in, no one is giving him orders anymore. More suspicious is that my character had requested a leave before, but now he will notice that the orders aren't coming after the leave.

What's worse is that I have been implying that the top secret unit that Ryanti is a part of, served as a more militaristic force that is ultra-secretive, that aides the Sons of Saint Coinach as well as Ul'Dah; as a joint force. I kind of have no idea what to do. If his unit is meant to serve the Syndicate now, that directly violates the protocol of Ryanti's unit. (As I am still in the middle of writing this unit out and I have ideas for a possible LS or something smaller.) I was going to make a thread about this eventually, but this riles things up a bit.

So, currently speaking as far as my character goes, he is wondering... why aren't the orders coming? Why am I waiting longer than I should be waiting? Would his father know something?

I have a question as well: Judging from the cutscenes, it did look like at least the area outside of Ul'Dah was quickly becoming an absolute riot. Is Ul'Dah rioting right now? Or was that all a temporary thing?

Though you may be loath to claim this IC, there's a good chance that Pipin would rally troops from the flames, and while he might not be the General, I'm fairly sure that a lot of them would also respect him.

It was more that you had a combination of the Crystal Braves and the Brass Blades looking for the WoL and Alphinaud and doing their damndest to find him. It was a lynch mob, not a riot.

Yeah, that makes sense. I'm gonna go ahead and go by that, then.

I read the thread about Ul'Dah and 2.55. Apparently, rumors are rampant about something very bad happening/conspiracy. The higher-ups that know aren't talking, the Sultansworn don't know the truth (Based off of the Paladins), high ranking Flames *do* know the truth (At least some hint that they do, like Swift).

So:

1.) Ryanti's father might/might not know something. (He's a retired Bloodsworn)

2.) Ryanti himself might/might not get word from his superior about something. (His entire livelihood right now is belonging in a classified unit.)

3.) His unit may/may not go dark. (Read above)

4.) The headquarters of his family business may have to re-locate. (HQ in Ul'Dah, but national across Eorzea).

5.) The family business might take a financial hit. (Apparently due to Consortiums falling apart).

I'm just gonna wing it and go with that and intuition until I find out more!

I think that it will take a bit before the plot kind of trickles into RP. I kind of see this as being quite covered up. I intend on not bringing any of these events to the forefront of RP in my FC until it moves out of 'spoilers' territory and more into common knowledge. However, at this point, Titor might know a bit of what happened due to his involvement in the Flames, but will be kept under secrecy and acting as if nothing had happened.

However, I do not intend for it to drive RP for myself anytime soon.

This is us, too. While events in Coerthas will probably be a thing (We aren't stationed in Ul'dah so it barely effects us) it's going to be a couple months before we bring any of that (Ul'dah included) into our RP. Probably right before 3.0 just to be safe.

1)Unless they were in active service, or regularly communicated with the Flames higher ups that are, I doubt his father would know anything.

2/3)Depending on what the classified unit does would determine whether they would know.

at least that would be my take.

as for 5... whelp, I was contemplating bringing Nako back to the Flames on the side, now an IC reason to go back full time xD

I'm looking at you, Brass Blade/Sworn RPers.

Alright fine. Now that I've watched the cut-scenes I can form an opinion today.

If Crofte's captain and the head of her Order are both in the dark, then she would be even more so. She is aware there was an attempted assassination of someone and that the Sultana is no longer entertaining visitors. The Scions of the Seventh Dawn and Flame General have been taken into custody for drawing arms within the palace. Of course rumors are flying, but she must believe what her superiors tell her to believe.

The increased Brass Blade presence in the streets would make her nervous though, and she may withdraw more and more to avoid confrontation with Monetarists in the open. You know how loud those Blades like to be with their insults. Though she personally may be shielded due to her relationship with a certain Monetarist nobleman, even his influence can only go so far.

In the meantime she still has a job to do and will conduct herself accordingly.

Romy, having resigned from the Sworn in disgrace weeks ago, would most likely be hunting in Coerthas and Gridania, tired of people and politics, and scared of actively fighting people. So, once the dragons started doing their thing at the steps of faith she would have rushed to Whitebrim, Dragonhead or the Gates of Judgement to aid in helping the wounded with her very basic healing and field medic skills. Think war-time nurse at a triage camp. Therefore, she has no clue what's going down in the Jewel. Otherwise she'd be dead or in irons for trying to give the General a hand.

Interesting to see everyone's reactions here. I had a friend screaming at me on skype during it while I was a little behind. It was motivating to say the least.

Since I don't have a deeply entrenched character in anything related to current RP I remain unaffected as a RPer. In some ways, I'm unhappy, others I'm grateful cuz it's a lot to consider. But that's a good thing, right? I have a few friends I can observe until until I can really jump into the story in Heavensward. When I have the right lore, I can figure something out, if need be.

I found myself a little more caught up in the well being of certain characters, since I'm biased as hell. Yda, Papalymo mostly. I liked Raubahn's scenes. The warrior bit of him coming out is somewhat typical to most I'm sure, but I found it quite pleasing to see. The only problem was the voice actor for Ilberd is Batou from Ghost in the Shell, and I couldn't get it out of my head. Don't get me wrong, he did well and it was enjoyable, my mind just wanders.

Also, Yugiri is smokin' hot.

The sweet face of the monarchy, the symbol of stability and continuity in Ul'dah is imperiled.  A member of the Syndicate is dead: murdered.  The most famous Ala Mhigan in the city is imprisoned for murdering him.  Dangerous, deadly things are afoot: the scent of chaos, disorder, and coup.

This adds to the already heady anti-Ishgardian atmosphere due to the Scales plot (I realize that is only canon for those of us accepting it, but it is so for Aya).  The city is looking as uninviting, as unfriendly, and unsafe as it ever has.  Aya's conversations with an old Ishgardian acquaintance has opened old wounds.  Things are not well; things are not peaceful.

Aya is worried, but has nowhere to go.

They're outsiders and not part of the Eorzean alliance - plot or no plot, that'll certainly draw some ire.

And there might be rumors that there were Ishgardians in the palace on that night, too.

It took me quite a while to reach an acceptable outcome for what happens to Leanne come the MSQ ending. In fact, her problem will not be majorly with Ul'dah or the Sultana's fate (though as how rumors tend to spread, she will be fairly certain that the monetarists did something to her.), but about the Brass Blades/Crystal Braves. Leanne is a known adventurer in Revenant's Toll, with connections to a lot of the citadel's elements (Adventurer's Guild, Scions of Seventh Dawn, Rowena and Sons of Saint Coinach), and even worked with the Warrior of Light during two stances (first with the exploration of the Crystal Tower, second with the call to arms for Ishgard). With such thing in mind, what is most probable: Leanne is now a wanted person by the Crystal Braves. Doesn't help the fact that Leanne has a history of attrition with the Brass Blades. Since they're working in tandem, it is very well possible that the Brass Blades are once more on to her.

Now, about the Ul'dah issue. Leanne already had a taste of what the Monetarists can do. Certain rumors will be like facts to her mind. Sultana ill? Most likely incapacitated by the monetarists in some manner. Raubahn being jailed? Raubahn discovered the conspiracy, killed Teledji, and the monetarists swoop in and incapacitated him too. Scions and WoL, her heroes, are partly to blame?! Holy shit, why so much conspiracy!!! Certain points of hatred that were quenched are now reignited, turning her interaction with any Ul'dah Monetarist extremely contentious (and dangerous!).

My character is an adventurer with the Echo, but turned down the Scions way back in 2.0... The Crystal Braves acting fishy and arrest warrants for the remaining Scions is something she'd likely pick up on though from having worked alongside Scions during Operation Archon, as well as from doing general adventuring work in Mor Dhona, and she'd probably find out more from there. Raubahn being jailed and Brass Blades swaggering about are also somethings she'll pick up on as suspicious, though how much she learns on her own and how much she could get out of any superiors in the Flames is up in the air (until she meets with said characters in RP).

My main thought when I was watching the MSQ cutscenes was "look at all these people Jana's going to wanna kill." She'll definitely look to add to her body pile if Raubahn or Pipin are able to raise a banner in the near future, rather than running to Coerthas, even (or perhaps, especially) if it's the kind of mission that's sure to end in her death.

So I had to juggle this a bit, but after finding out some info on how Limsa is handling the situation, I'm gonna have Sounsyy's Maelstrom commander suspend her Ul'dahn operations and be recalled to blockade the Straight of Merlthor. She may get filled in on some general details considering the intel is vital to her operations, but she won't know details.

Scions are not to be touched - they are Ul'dah's problem. Do not get involved in Ul'dahn affairs. Avoid Brass Blades, pull out of all active ops ASAP and retreat to Lominsan controlled waters.

Hm, for Kestlona, this probably won't effect her too much.  Oh, she'll see the increase in Brass and Crystal, and her own nature to try and find out what the fact from the rumor.  Erik might what to keep a close eye on how much one of his 'men' is poking her nose into the rumor mill.  Now her teacher Alex is in Corth. helping in that fight.  Yet, if he knew what was taking place in Uld'ah, he would have call 'Lona in an instant.  He wouldn't want to lose his student/weapon (he keeps telling himself that she is a means to an end at the Garlena(sp? It's late and not looking up the spelling) but he does care about what happen to her)

John on the other hand might be in the sites of the Monetarist since his family in know Royalist.  John doesn't know it at the moment but Thomas is already setting up for his wife and son to stay in Gridania for a while.  He doesn't know what exactly is happening but he knows that he and his family could but the next with the Monetarist trying to gain a stronger hold.

Let me tell you, that is going to be a big blow up when John finds out why they are actually going to be in Gridania.  Uld'ah is his home and will fight to free it from Monetarist.

The Brass Blades milling about in the street have probably made Qhora more brazen than she would usually be - suddenly feeling like she can sit closer to the fireplace rather than in the darkest part of the bar. There's a certain reliability to people who work for the highest bidder, and now those reliable folks are just everywhere in town.

But generally, other than being grandly amused by the rumors and very curious to find out where the rumors will go and what, if any, truths will come out of them, she's probably not affected much at all. Life goes on.

She might be looking into Ishgard now, though. While she likely passed on everything that went on at the Steps of Faith, she's probably made the connection that it had something to do with the Brass Blades' increased presence before the kerfuffle and is now curious enough to jump on the excuse to travel when the time comes.
