Part of me hopes the OP is a sockpuppet and just laughing at his computer screen over this. Not that the conversation hasn't been mostly riveting, even if it got a bit far afield.

Lore's serious business because those of us trying to play by the rules in the game world NEED THOSE RULES.

Maybe, but I dunno. It's my thing to at least give one fair answer to every op even if i think they're trolling.

Wow, this thread kinda exploded. :)

With regards to Fantasia, there's actually a bit of a conflict between that Tumblr post and what Fernehalwes (Michael Christopher Koji Fox, who you might recall in HW credits as one of two "World Lore Creators" for XIV) said at the London Fan Fest on the topic. (It's the last answer in the Q&As.)

*sneaks back out*

That is interesting. Even then, that leaves a discrepancy between flavor text and how such an item would work according to Fern's words (not to mention the whole "novelty items" deal). Plus it discredits how about 90% of IC fantasias go down anyway, but I figure it's best to leave the discussion at that since we've now got a definitive answer, and also because we've gone so far off topic at this point that the thread is less "derailed" and more "broken through the veil of spacetime into a land where the concept of a rail never fucking existed."

Can we change the threat title to: Plausibility of Tubs in RP

Would a tub accidentally made out of a still living Wulgaru drink blood and thus be a vampire tub? I can see a great threat of vampiric furniture if one can make one out of a Wulgaru. We should stake all our chairs just to be sure.

And where is this Wulgaru thing mentioned, Sounsyy? I don't think I've ever seen it. A rare spawn or something from a FATE?

I agree, and a number of us did just that. We got ignored or glossed over in favor of those against him being recognized. Where it went from there was related, and then we just kept changing tracks.

No because if you unplug the hot tub, it cools down and turns into a normal tub.

Tubs confirmed.

Can you unplug an Eorzean hot tub? Do we ever actually see them connected to an external power source? I'm pretty sure hot tubs are self-sustaining vessels capable of generating and dissipating an infinite amount of energy.

DEATHTUB: THE TUB THAT SUCKS PEOPLE

Edit: S-rank in East Shroud. Not really the sort of place you'd find an easter egg or comedic throwaway line.

Well apparently vampires eat poop.

And people poop in hot tubs.

So yes, Vampire Hot Tubs are canon is what I am saying.

You can unplug it from the aether powering it by sucking the aether into white aucerite or whatever, sealing the soul of the hot tub within and rendering it powerless before you.

I figured the OP wasn't gonna really care about the disagreements when I saw the consistent lols and bad jokes in them.

But screw it, ima have my fun talking with him anyway.

Pretty much all of this.

Let's see how far this trainwreck can get!

Get involved.  Like a vacation at Hedonism II, it looks a mess from the outside but the whole reason you're there is to get involved.

Wouldn't it be entirely possible to use some form of void taint or touch to cause a similar condition and still work it into the lore?

Yes, and several people mentioned it, but I don't know if the OP paid any attention.

Do what you want, who cares? If no one likes it, just go back to the drawing board or give it up.

im still gonna be a vamp just wanted feedback on possible origin stories for how they would come about and i got some pretty good tidbits.

Yes.

Though quite a lot of this thread has been dedicated to taking potshots so I lament the OP not choosing to just rise above that and discuss about the tidbits.

Then we must also go on the assumption that because it isn't in game, it doesn't exist? Like how there's no justification for miqo'te dragoons and such beyond the super special main character?

Or how there's no lore justifying the existence of a Hyur/Miqo'te pairing that doesn't end in them getting run out of town?

Not confirmed for a romantic couple as far as I know, but I'd be interested to see how many pairings in the game actually are. So, ah, take it with a grain of salt. ;)

I'm going to guess this is the "run out of town" couple you're talking about?

[video=youtube]

They mention something about being "no lesser" a couple for their racial difference, so it most likely alludes to that, but they could have also easily been run out for their homosexuality (or perhaps both), since this couple is considered by some folks to be the first legitimate same-sex couple in the game. Also, where as they clearly state they were ran out of their home, the fact they came to Bronze Lake probably means it's somewhere more tolerant, and they don't seem to be facing any animosity there that we're aware of.
