Swashbuckler Posted December 16, 2015 Share #26 Posted December 16, 2015 That last step is a tad irritating. Assuming that 3.2 comes out in March-ish of 2016 and it takes three weeks of new tomestones to get an i220 weapon, people will probably spend more time grinding this weapon than actually using it while it is relevant. And God knows how long it'll take for the next step to make relics relevant in 3.2's PvE content. BUT GLAMOUR FANTASY XIV AMIRITE Sounds about right to me. I'd honestly rather grind/farm Ravana EX because at least those weapons look cool, and i190 weapons can still get you by. Somewhat... Link to comment
Coatleque Posted December 16, 2015 Share #27 Posted December 16, 2015 My weapon has always been one step behind the rest of my gear. /shrug Means more time for RP right? Link to comment
Kellach Woods Posted December 16, 2015 Share #28 Posted December 16, 2015 good thing i'm too busy working to care about this. what the hell i'll whine anyway. ffffffffffuuuuuuuuuuuuuckkkkkkk thiss shitttttt. 1 Link to comment
Zoya Posted December 16, 2015 Share #29 Posted December 16, 2015 That last step is a tad irritating. So much so that I expect a harsh nerf to it with 3.2. The first two steps are a work of a few days, maybe weeks depending on how much you play. The last step? Months. And that's completely ignoring the money you might need for the crafted items. Honestly? I think SE simply wants to bridge the content drought until 3.2 with that. You aren't "meant" to get it before the patch, you are just supposed to work towards it. Link to comment

Yeah but what's the point then? When the next patch comes out there will be better weapons. If most people can't use it until then, it's pointless. Link to comment
Kellach Woods Posted December 16, 2015 Share #31 Posted December 16, 2015 HW has been pretty much "pointless end-game : the mmo" though. Link to comment
Zoya Posted December 16, 2015 Share #32 Posted December 16, 2015 Yeah but what's the point then? [...] Only to keep you subbed by giving you "something" to do when you're bored and have nothing else to work towards. To you as user, the weapons will be pointless except for further upgrade down the line (and glamour, prestige, yadda yadda). As a matter of fact, they already are largely pointless as is, Thordan weapons are better for many classes, considering the secondary stats and unnoticeable gain in weapon damage. BUT...it's the relic. Your very own weapon. At the current rate, possibly even your child. It's special. Don't you want it? Juicy, juicy carrot? It's right there. Just gotta do a step. And another. And another. You get the idea. There's no point in getting it. The point is to make you think there's a point in getting it so you try to and stay subbed. Edit: This is purely my opinion of course. Not claiming facts. 1 Link to comment
Steel Wolf Posted December 17, 2015 Share #33 Posted December 17, 2015 Personally, I'm stopping at the i200 step. That's better than the 180 weapon I have now, and is about as much as I'll be willing to put up with until the high from all the cocaine in Japan disspates from the eyes of the devs. As I type this, my husband and I are praying to RNGsus because he didn't get a BLM Zeta and I was hosed put of one because DRK. We're trying to keep our spirits up, and I think the dubgeons step will be fun because he has never run most of those before. Still....awrgh. Link to comment
Warren Castille Posted December 17, 2015 Author Share #34 Posted December 17, 2015 After all of the work of repeating those dungeons at 50 to get the Zeta items, smashing them to itty bitty pieces at lv60 was a joy. Link to comment

You're fucked. What you got left is Alex, farming law/poetics etc.. and about a quarter in your eyes will start to bleed. Link to comment
Kellach Woods Posted December 17, 2015 Share #36 Posted December 17, 2015 Soul Without Life You need an Astral Nodule and an Umbral Nodule to continue the quest. Your new friend Syndony has what you need, but she needs a few things first. Crystals, namely. Very rare, very specific crystals. Crystals that only come from completing FATEs in Heavensward zones at a low rate. Eighteen of them. No, they're not at all related to these "atma" things, what are you talking about? Anyway, you'll need: 3 Luminous Wind Crystals from the Sea of Clouds 3 Luminous Fire Crystals from Azys Lla 3 Luminous Lightning Crystals from Churning Mists 3 Luminous Ice Crystals from Coerthas West 3 Luminous Earth Crystals from the Dravanian Forelands 3 Luminous Water Crystals from the Dravanian Hinterlands Wait hold up hold up hold up... All you need is the nodules? Not to do it as the specific class? If so, I'm fucking laughing all the way to the bank. Link to comment
Nirri Posted December 17, 2015 Share #37 Posted December 17, 2015 @Kellach. You can do that as any class much like atma's in 2.x relic. Link to comment
Kellach Woods Posted December 17, 2015 Share #38 Posted December 17, 2015 Atmas required a relic weapon equipped. The reason why I ask is that I often level other classes through fates. since nodules are a key item... Link to comment
Warren Castille Posted December 17, 2015 Author Share #39 Posted December 17, 2015 Yes, I believe you can get them on any job so long as you have the quest flagged. Link to comment

Not claiming facts. Bah, it's an opinion I share with you, at the very least. The WoW MMORPG formula may have saved this game, but it's gonna kill it, too, one day. The RP community and the relevance of appearance to RP is the only real reason I stay addicted. Link to comment

But you do have to have the quest. Which means you can pick up the quest, then later switch classes to one that isn't 50 that's more appropriate for the zone you're picking up crystals in. Aaron Posted December 17, 2015 Share #43 Posted December 17, 2015 In a while you're gonna get a handout weapon that's just as good as the relic as ALWAYS. Don't need to do this unless you want to kill time. Or you're with a pissy static that will kick you if you don't have the latest weapon. Link to comment

Asher Posted December 17, 2015 Share #46 Posted December 17, 2015 ...Hot button topic incoming, but after reading all of this stuff, does anyone else think this new quest chain sounds unfun and awful? My problem with this is the crafting requirements. Specialist crafts are not an easy bit of content to get into, and they're not just forcing you to make one thing, but FOUR of each for a total of sixteen. It's so unreasonable for something that's supposed to be "casual" content. Unless you have someone nice enough to craft them for free, you're looking at millions of gil. It's beyond comprehension why they thought this was a good idea. Link to comment

111 Posted December 17, 2015 Share #49 Posted December 17, 2015 Ugh... even the models are lazy. In the 2.0 questline they gave you a sort of 'half made' version of your relic that you had to power up. Here they just reuse the model for the esoterics weapon. Link to comment
