My full edits on some posts are getting borked, either when full editing or when previewing.

My spoiler code tags get moved or duplicated @_@

I get the same issue with spoilers. If you use the visual editor, they freak out if you switch back and forth (or disappear for spoilers). Using the SCEditor defaulting into Source mode, I mostly handle everything in BBCode unless I need to preview for text size/color.

But I never use visual editor. I recently found an issue where my post reply was completely different so I switched the source editor to like SCEditor Perhaps it needed to be SCEditor(source) instead?

Edit: it's still doing it with (source)

I wanted to full edit this post

but now I get this code.

[spoiler="Garlean Hierarchy"]
The rise of the Garlean Empire in the Year 1522 of the Sixth Astral Era led to significant changes in the structure of the Garlean society. This is most evident in the adoption of titles which serve to indicate an individual's place within the social hierarchy. The following information was compiled with the aid of informants within the empire and has yet to be verified:

Zos - The emperor
Yae - Member of the royal family in the line of succession
Wir - Member of the royal family with no claim to the throne
Military
Van - Legatus
Tol - Tribunus laticlavius or Tribunus militum
Sas - Tribunus angusticlavius or Praefectus castrorum
Rem - Primus pilus or Pilus prior
Quo - Primi ordines or Centurion
Pyr - Optio, Tesserarius, or Decurion
Oen - Duplicarius or Legionarius

Specialists
Nan - Chief engineer or engineer
Mal - Primus medicus or senior magitek technician
Lux - Chief medicus or magitek technician
Kir - Senior medicus or senior technician
Jen - Medicus or technician

Public Officials
Iyl - Dictator or Princeps senatus
Het - Consul, Praetor, Tribunus plebis, Aedilis, or Quaestor
Goe - Censor
Fae - Unknown
Eir - Unknown
Dus - Lictor.

This hierarchy extends to the general populace as well, though it is far less complex.
Cen - Smaller than "Ban" group, the respected artisans
Ban - The majority of citizens
Aan - Peoples of annexed territories and the title indicates that they lack even the most basic rights afforded to a citizen. However, many Garleans see the "aan" title as an opportunity rather than a condemnation, as citizenship may be granted to those who have demonstrated exceptional skills, as well as those who have contributed 20 or more years of military service.[/spoiler]

By default, the SCEditor is a visual editor. (As in, you see the formatting at it happens instead of BBCode tags). SCEditor (Source) will default to the BBCode-showing editor first, which lets you edit in spoilers/quotes a bit easier. ...there appears to be a bug when switching from the visual editor to BBCode source and back, where spoilers get eaten because they don't show up on the visual editor side.

I can't tell what source code it is, but I've already mentioned that I don't like to use the visual editor in person and here in the forums. I'm supposed to default to the "View Source" option.

I keep changing

"Which BBCode editor to show on post pages"

to SCEditor(source)

but whenever I go to it, it keeps saying "My Code editor"

When I switch to "My Code editor", it shows me a very dated icon set when trying to post.

Edit:I always post with the code looking like it does in the green check side (even though the code is not what I want). I never use the left side. (UNTIL NOW TO PROVE A POINT)

The option gets saved, but "MyCode Editor" is the default option if you don't put it back and save your options. If you modify your user options, be sure to set the editor to the one you want because the page doesn't keep track.

Edit: Those are both the SCEditor in the screenshots. SCEditor(Source) is the one on the right. If you switch between them for "previewing", it'll kill your spoilers. ...but even using the "preview post" button has killed my spoilers before. (easier to just add the spoiler tags in manually)

Except the last time I changed any user options was this. So now, I know that this isn't the issue and SCEditor(source) does not change the fact that whenever I try to use full edit to change that post it screws with the spoiler tags even when I'm not using visual editor.

Either one of those screenshots is SCEditor(source). If it is the one on the right, then that is my point.

I am not using Visual Editor.

I am using "PREVIEW POST" or Full Edit and it changes my tags already.

As soon as I hit "FULL EDIT" on the post it messes with the code and the code I pasted in the earlier post is what I get. As you can see from the actual post, that's not the right code.

The SCEditor plugin is... a little weird, to be honest. It's pretty good for basic stuff, but when you want to do anything with custom tags and the like, I really recommend using the MyCode Editor instead. I switched to it personally long ago because of oddities with its handling of embedded tags.

I'll look to see if there's a newer version of it available, but last I checked, we had the latest version of the plugin.

I'm curious because I'm not sure what is causing the issue, especially now? I've never seen this happen before and I'm -sure- I've placed multiple spoilers with quotes inside of the spoilers without issue. But for some reason, I'm not getting issues with these spoilers duplicating and moving or something to that effect. Even when I'm just using the edit.

I stopped using the visual editor over a year ago >.>;

(Is there a reason My Code looks like it's from the 2000s?)

I think it's because it might very well be from the 2000s. :)

...the spoiler issue's been around since I registered. It's just something I had to learn to live with and now I doublecheck my posts often. ...I very rarely use the full-editor to modify a post.

I would like to make a suggestion going forward about expansions and patch information being shared by everyone.

I may personally be the only one bothered but I abhor the threads that pop up when teeny tiny new info just got posted. And usually it is just  a post with a link and done type of threads. Or that a wave of information was released over one weekend and like 4 threads were made all about one small topic in the span of just a couple of hours each having generated maybe 30 replies to all the threads cumulatively in that small time.

I want to suggest that things like megathreads be made for that. For the example of heavensward we could have had sales and misc. Class and Jobs. Dungeons and gameplay. Lore.

I'd second this.

Usually around patch time, we'd see 3-4 threads all having the same info in them because either:

1) Someone made a thread first

2) Someone made a thread while someone was posting another

3) Someone made a thread without searching/seeing a previously made thread

Going to merge in another thread in a moment, but I wanted to respond first by saying that I think stickied megathreads are a good idea. I'll put that down for the team to discuss and perhaps implement moving forward.

EDIT: Right, they merge by timestamp. Awkward.

As for the PM question, I'm not entirely sure about that. I'll need to do some testing. I can definitely make the icons more clear (I, too, have hit Reply instead of Reply All) if nothing else. Altering the PM functionality itself may be getting a bit too "custom code" unless I can find a plugin that does it.

Any possible updates we might have on this? :3 Issues or what not?

Unless I am dumb and missed it, which is also quite possible.

About the old threads: do they get archived? I put quite a bit of work into a couple posts and like to reread some discussions every once in a while. Sorry if that is weird. How do I view old threads? I can't see them even wrestling with Google so I fear they might be deleted.

Aside from Linkshell Hall listings being archived into the chronicles forum, no thread is ever archived due to old age.

Now, if you mean a thread that was irrevocably derailed and spun out of control, some of those are archived to a section with no access. Bot advertisements/spam/posts that broke the rules end up there too.

If it's a thread you created, you can find it from clicking on your username and then viewing your created threads. This works for posts too, but there's a limit to how many results are displayed.

I'd recommend an advanced search by username if you're trying to track down a thread if google searching via site:ffxiv-roleplayers.com isn't getting you results.

(Or lemme know what you're looking for and I can try to search too!)

AM I THE ONLY ONE BOTHERED BY THE OFF-SYNC THE FORUM TIME HAS?

EDIT: IT IS OFF BY 10 MINUTES

This has been bothering me for a while now, I've been meaning to say something but I always forget before I get around to it. I thought this was just me. It drives me crazy.

It's probably pulling the timestamps from the underlying VM, likely needs a restart or a new timeserver.

Maybe PM Freelance?

The server's off-sync.

But to fix that, we'd have to set the date on the server properly and also take the forums offline. The underlying forum software organizes posts by date. (you'll see this most commonly when threads are merged).

So I guess if we have a maintenance period, it could be fixed. ...that will not retroactively fix all the posts though. It'll just make the new ones afterwards display correctly.
