It also doesn't help that LimLo is a multi-tiered maze of confusion.

Its a very pretty maze, but I sure as heck can't seem to get around without the Aethernet. Hell, I wouldn't be at all surprised if the town was actually segmented :V

It is definitely maze like! Easy to get lost.  Its neat!

At least it has a labelled map and aethernet now. *shudders from Limsa in 1.0*

...I actually got lost and couldn't teleport out (they were horribly limited to a special currency called anima at the time) and had to call a friend to find me and escort me out a few times.

Awww it's not so bad. Just take the first left past the second crystal on the right and then take the warp from....no no no the second crystal on the right, not the second right from the cystal! Great.....now you're in Bronze Lake.

LOL! In all seriousness though most of the popular ideas for rp spots are in the upper deck and not so far away from each other. A short jog and you could touch almost all in a short time.

PLACES I MEAN!! Touch all the places! Yeesh! Get your minds outta the gutter!

Hehe.

No lie. Limsa is the place where I feel like I might actually be directionally challenged. I studiously read the map because I constantly get lost there. I think I would stay lost without the aethernet.

LOL! I have felt this way in Ul'dah though too. If you only knew how many times I have looped in and out between Thal and Nald trying to find one of the guilds on foot only to bail to the crystal (save me!!). And when I was leveling Paladin I always got confused if I tried to navigate that upper floor.

Yes...I know it is a circle.

So I got lost in a circle.

*kicks rock* Stupid city anyway.

:P Hehe.

The only place I feel competent in is Gridania, and even then I still use the map. I never close the map anywhere. But, well, I forget where I parked at the grocery store, too, so it's not terribly surprising. :(

Oh, and uh . . . I'm going to leave the poll open for a week, after which time I'll start checking interest to get some . . .things going in whichever location gets highest votes. If it's a tie we'll do a re-vote. The second and third highest places will be longterm goals as far as seeing increased rp goes; never hurts to have a few areas to check for rp, but that won't be for several months away (and anyways, that'll likely include extra-city hubs within La Noscea; Mist, Costa del Sol, Bronze Lake being some of the ones named that seemed to resonate with people).

Cheers, everyone. Thank you so much for your participation and banter. I really, really love seeing it. <3

*looks around*

*keeps looking*

Bwahahahaha!!!

Sorry.....I couldn't help it. :cactuar:

Friends and family never ceased to be amazed at how easily I get lost. Laugh it up, fuzzball!

If I ever seem like I know where I'm going in game, I'm just pretending. Chances are I'm frantically glued to the map making sure I'm going in the right direction -- especially during rp.

Oh well glad I'm not the only one who got lost in Ul'dah >->

Oddly I can make my way around Limsa perfectly well.. all the way till I get trying to figure out how to get down to the Fisherman's guild..

... I won't lie. Still.

When I first started the guy my entire time was spent going "Where am I? How do I get there? I'm in Ul'dah. Why is this place so big?"

But it was easy for me to get used to.

Limsa and gridania? :dazed:

The Drowning Wench seems like the easiest hotspot because it's the central location in Limsa, and people need to pass through it to get to most places on the upper deck. If you're trying to establish a set location for RP in Limsa Lominsa, it's probably best to have it somewhere visible. This is one of the reasons why I think the Quicksand has so many roleplayers, not just because it's a tavern atmosphere but because people need to go there. If you're a new player--or just a new roleplayer--you don't really want to hunt people down for RP, so finding it in an area where the game makes you go for quests and such makes it easier.

The Missing Member wouldn't work too well because it's so out of the way that people passing through might never notice it. The Astalicia and Fisherman's Bottom seem more like places you'd schedule some RP to happen, rather than places you'd go in search of finding other roleplayers. The Aftcastle could work too, I suppose, but the Drowning Wench has better atmosphere.

I'm always late! Or something. But mostly I just wanted to toss an update in here to reassure everyone that I haven't forgotten or anything. Here's how I'm going to focus time and energy towards helping get hotspots going (will add to first post here in a sec):

The Drowning Wench (WINRAR)

  • Short term: I will be sending pms out to FC leaders to see if they would be willing to have a tavern day once a week (or hell, once a month) just to get increased activity and visibility. In a perfect world where the ideal happens, it would be a rotating thing to help get regular rp happening.

  • Short term: Likewise, I will be trying to do increased rp in the Wench, and encouraging other rpers in Limsa to make greater use of the Wench.

  • Long term: I'm working with a few other people to get some regular once a month event type things going.

  • Long term: Start sending semi-regular pms to those who have posted in the Limsa Character directory to help ensure people are aware of what is going on. But with an opt-out option. Because I really don't want to bother people who don't want to be bothered (and if you read this and are in the Limsa directory and don't want to receive pms for this sort of thing -- reply in this thread or send me a pm and I'll make sure you aren't included :) ).

  • Long term: Once the rp in the Wench is a bit more visible and active, we'll work to use those connections to start moving forward on the Treasure Hunt rp thing as an opt-in rp to help deepen and broaden Limsa rp between people who rp there.

The Missing Member (first loser) & Astalicia (second loser)

  • Long long term: Once steady rp has been established in the Wench, start working on increased usage of the Member and Astalicia. Could be several months from now, but it's something to keep in mind. :)

As ever, if you have ideas or suggestions please don't hesitate to lay them down. If you want to start something and want to see it in the Connections thread or want to do collaborations with other FCs, I am more than happy to help! Just send me a pm or post in the Limsa RP Connections thread, and we'll get to planning. :)
