Preparations for patch 2.4 are nearly complete, and today we offer you a sneak peek at Snowcloak, the stronghold of heretics serving the Dravanian horde, as well as Hard incarnations of Sastasha and the Sunken Temple of Qarn.

Snowcloak

The landscape of Eorzea has undergone a great many changes in the wake of the Calamity, giving way to anomalies heretofore unseen. The great ice wall, Snowcloak, is one such construct molded in the aftermath of Bahamut’s rampage. Once thought to be impassable, recent reports tell of a network of tunnels piercing through the heart of this crystalline impasse. Duty demands these passageways be investigated, but woe unto he who finds their creator.

Sastasha (Hard)

Tucked deep inside the dank caverns of the Sastasha Seagrot, there is a secret port said to have been built by the pirate Mistbeard. In the years following the Calamity, the notorious Serpent Reavers claimed it as their lair, until the cutthroats were vanquished by a band of dauntless adventurers. The place subsequently came under the control of Lominsan authorities, who maintained a security presence within. Alas, that control did not last, for an unknown faction has arisen─seemingly from the briny depths─and overwhelmed the occupying Yellowjackets. Opinion is divided over the identity of these foes. Some say that they are pirates, while others swear that they are fiends. Yet it does not take a scholar to see that these two things need not be mutually exclusive.

The Sunken Temple of Qarn (Hard)

Adventurers fear not danger, scholars care not for comfort, and miners like not unturned stones. Thus was born the unlikely partnership between the Order of Nald'thal and Amajina & Sons Mineral Concern, in the wake of a certain adventurer's conquest of the Sunken Temple's notorious traps. But the dead of Qarn left many snares─more than enough for a thousand years of greed─and now, a tomb raider's fevered dream of riches has stranded the joint expedition in a place where history has a tendency to come alive...

The fact that Snowcloak is super vague... it must be a quest dungeon in the Main Story Quest line! Pretty swanky in my opinion.

So snowcloak is new leading up to Shiva most likely and then there is Shiva and the... Arabic? named trial.

Dat armor the hyur is wearing... I want it. I need it. Give it to me. /grabby hands

I WANT THE ARMOR TOOOO

Also. Fighting Davy Jones. Hurm

Edit: I'm also interested in the fact that Rogues all have a sort of "class garb" similar to the job AF gear. That seems a first.

^ This... I've been wondering about that since that first demo video they showed. Like... SE that looks like XI's THF AF armor... Why does Rogue have AF armor...? Hmm we shall see... maybe SE has pulled another fast one on us like they did with SCH/SMN. But I won't get my hopes up.

I'm not as excited as I should be for these new dungeons.

All I want to know is if we should still expect ridiculous mat drop rates as a barrier to acquiring what is purely vanity gear. I've grown as sick of this issue being passed over by Square as I have with atma drop rates.

Honestly. Ask anyone who runs Expert Roulette with me. Nothing but mat runs, 99% of the time. I once went two weeks of Roulette without seeing so much as an accessory.

So if they're planning on stuffing myth mats into these... *shudders*

back in July ish they mentioned looking into fixing the rates. I haven't really had the same complete issue.

At least you're not Oscare.

IIRC, their phrasing went somethong along the lines of "we haven't heard about this, and we really don't see it as an issue, but since you asked we'll look into it." It was disheartening at the time. :\

...and what's this about Oscare? I must know.

My recalling of the conversation was more "We've heard about how disappointing it is. We'll look into adjusting it."

Which is some acknowledgement better than nothing.

As far as I know Oscare was still trying to farm the Shirt of the Divine Light yesterday. He's been trying since 2.2 dropped. >.>

I know them feels. I went like two weeks hardcore at Hullbreaker/Stone Vigil just trying to get that tanking chest piece. Those crafting mats are so annoying. I don't know why SE still insists on putting them in everything from Ixali rewards to myth to GC to I80 dungeons. What's next, crafting mats falling out of Third Coil of Bahamut...?

Divine Light was 2.3, 2.2 was Shikaree's. I should know, as the only piece of Fistfighters I have after several months are the boots. Mats mats mats. I'll look up the exact quote when I reach the office.

Still trying for Divine War cuirass and Divine Hero boots. One day...!

Oh that tank cuirass? *eyes retainer* I got that early... It was a typo :c I meant 2.3 lol

I need to level up ARC/BRD and PGL/MNK. I got the shikaree doublet and the shirt. I also have full Fistfighter's and the top from 2.3

I also have the healer and caster 2.3 robes...

/em was blessed by RNG for dungeon runs for chest pieces but it means Kraken likes to toss my ass around. I've seen naughty nanka twice

News: FFXIV ARR Patch 2.4 Dreams of Ice Public Informational Update #1

The boss of the new dungeon Snowcloak will be FENRIR. A glance at the main story as well

Implementation Planned for this Fall

As for Square Enix's MMORPG known as FFXIV:ARR, this fall will mark the opening of the 2.4 update "Dreams of Ice"

Some of this information has already been announced during Tokyo Game Show. There they covered the new class (ROGUE), the new job (NINJA), the three new dungeons and the "Dreams of Ice" continuation of the main story.

Concerning Rogue and Ninja, we've been shown a fragment of the class/job quests. You're invited to make preparations toward the implementation of these new jobs.

ROGUE is a fighter whose weapon skill consists of dual wielding daggers or knives (tanken). They are guards who follow the law of the outlaw. They are the sort of people who restrain those who flee from justice, recover contraband, and distribute wealth to the needy. They were once called "thieves" but they made rebuilt themselves in the pirate city of Limsa Lominsa. They are said to be responsible for the development of the dual-wielding blade technique.

NINJA A long time ago in a land far, far away, the people of the East perfected the art of stealth to protect themselves and their fortunes during troubled times. This art is called ninjutsu. Ninja utilize the energies from the sky, from the bottom of the earth, from that which flows in humankind and create mysterious seals/mudras (in). These mysterious techniques were passed down in secret in scattered, hidden villages in distant lands. That said, if one can master these techniques perhaps one would have the power to change the tides of battle.

As for the three new dungeons, Snowcloak, Sastasha HM and Qarn HM, some information regarding plot synopsis, bosses and mechanics have been released to the public.

Every time there is a brand-new dungeon, the first thing we notice is the boss. For Snowcloak, it has been revealed that this time the boss is Fenrir. For now his particular mechanics are wrapped in mystery, but we know for sure that he shrouds players in ice and freely uses freezing-type attacks.

SNOWCLOAK At dawn of the Seventh Umbral Era, the Calamity caused changes in the climate of Eorzea. Thus the the main road to the Coerthas Western Highlands has been blocked by a huge wall of ice. However, a secret tunnel has been uncovered in the great ice wall that was long thought to be unpassable by foot. What sort of individuals lurk at the end of this tunnel and why?

QARN HM Thanks to the help of adventurers like yourself, the security of the Sunken Temple of Qarn had been guaranteed. Worshipers of Nald'thal and Amajina and Sons Mining Co have formed a joint survey team to undertake a formal excavation of the Sunken Temple. However, after a rumor sprung up that a treasure trove of historic proportions lies in the temple, the ruins have been subjected to tomb robbing and thievery. Hidden from the public eye, magical traps have been carelessly set to catch the robbers. A survey team including the young researcher Nenekko (lalafell) are trapped in the dangerous ruin.

SASTASHA HM Deep inside the Sastasha Seagrot was a hidden dock built by a troupe of former pirates known as the Mistbeard Crew. Once that dock was occupied by a pirate troupe known as the "Seasnake's Tongue", which included Sahagin beastmen, but then the city of Limsa Lominsa took control of it. Then, all of a sudden, a suspicious group of grotesque enemies stormed the secret port by sea. The Yellowjackets that were charged with defending the place scattered about and it has been invaded. Now you must once again recapture the Sastasha Seagrot, and in the process expose the mysterious identity of the invaders.

Lastly, the main story for "Dreams of Ice" continues right where "Defenders of Eorzea" (patch 2.3) left off, including further development of the new organization known as the Crystal Braves. We look forward to the update and the introduction of new characters.

Main Story "Dreams of Ice" "It's all for the sake of Eorzea." ~ That lofty motto was offered up by the organization The Crystal Braves, whose story will be continuing. As pioneers in Eorzean unity, the Crystal Braves will team up with adventurers to pursue the shadows of conspiracy that lurk everywhere from the Ul'dah in the south to Ishgard in the north. What great threats wait there?

Bolded emphasis of translator as well as some of my own.

ESCORT DUNGEON?? RESCUE MISSION??

I am so unimaginably excited for the new dungeons.

I am slightly less excited about the impending massive flood of new DPS. I need to hurry and level my DPS classes before Rogue/Ninja hits. <_<
