Menelwen Posted January 4, 2015 Share #26 Posted January 4, 2015 Edited!: Securing a post so I can edit it later. Was trying to finish it before I had to head out, but it looks like I'll have to finish it up tomorrow. Name: Menelwen Veara World: Balmung Character Main Class/Job/Role: MNK / SCH Cards: ① The Hanged Man ② The Chariot ③ Strength Reason for Card Choice: ① To see the world as it is, you must change your perspective from time to time. Like many, Menelwen's entire world was turned upside down when the Calamity happened. For a long time the woman was angry, and not just at the world but at herself as well. For a solid year she wandered, witnessing firsthand how far Bahamut's reach was. Over the course of several months her anger simmered and she found a new purpose in life. ② Armored to the teeth, and not just by physical means. Menelwen has walls upon walls of a mental guard, shielding her both from friend and foe. Like many, the woman has gone through many hardships in her life, and like many she has over come them. Unlike most however, the Elezen has come to recongnize that not all problems can be solved with a head strong approach. It must be chipped away, slowly, until the problem either no longer exists, or is small enough to deal with completely now. ③ There was not an emotion the Elezen did not feel when she was traveling alone for that solid year. Rage and confusion were side long companions in those long days under the desert's harsh sun, where as fear and mourning did little to comfort the Elezen during those freezing nights. But time passed, and with each of Eorzea's full cycle, Menelwen slowly found herself moving on. She would not forget what all had happened, but she came to realize that she had no control over what had happened. But she had control now, she controlled what became of her now. Her mind cleared, she sought out on her path a new woman. Where as rage and confusion had once muddied her thoughts, a newfound kindness and understanding met her as she came across the countless refugee camps and towns. When the company allowed it, she would sit with them at night remembering, and not mourning, those lost to the Calamity. Her words often comforted both others and herself. They would all move on, one cycle at a time. Tumblr Name: Don't have one. Will RPC work? Hanged Man The Chariot - I'll update this as soon as I get the right screenshot for it. Strength. There should be an eye patch over her black eye, but alas, can't meld two pieces of armor together. Link to comment
Gegenji Posted January 4, 2015 Share #27 Posted January 4, 2015 Ah man, I love Tarot-related things. Um, let's see here... Name: Chachanji Gegenji World: Balmung Character main class/job/role (Optional): Paladin and Smith Cards (recommended): Fool, Strength, Sun Reason for Card choice (recommended): I picked the cards due to the synergy I believe they have with Chachan. The Fool: Beginnings, infinite possibility. Chachan just recently struck out on his own in order to be a hero, of all things. He seeks to help everyone, even those that others believe are beyond redemption. Strength: Chachan has a lot of the different aspects of Strength. There's the pure physical strength from his livelihood as a shaper of metal, but there's also a stubborn, childish strength in his own resolve. Not to mention the bonds that he has in his friends. The Sun: Youthfulness, sunny disposition, and an emphasis on one's inner light. All aspects I try to present in Chachan as a character. He has his cloudy days, of course, but more often than not he's the sun in someone's day. Tumblr name (optional): N/A Also please include 1-3 screenshots Link to comment
Cliodhna Eoghan Posted January 4, 2015 Share #28 Posted January 4, 2015 Name: Cliodhna Eoghan World: Balmung Character main class/job/role (Optional): Ninja/Monk Cards (recommended): Judgement Reason for Card choice (recommended): The judgement card is mostly about a major shift in someone's life and their reaction to it (hence the words, judgement, rebirth, decision, reconciliation, hope, and redemption are commonly used words when describing it) Currently Cliohna is at that point in her life. She has tossed aside (at a great risk to herself) her old life because there was a inner struggle with it that has been quietly building over an amount of about ten years. Now that it's gone and she's in her now life, she has a more hopeful view of how things will be for here. She's still having a harder time adjusting than she lets on, but a large scale life change usually has it's bumps along the way. When Judgment appears in a reading, it's usually interpreted as a signal of an impending judgment, such as of postponed decisions. This decision for her to change and start over in Ul'dhh has been something that was put off for at least eight years because she wasn't ready to aside from other reasons that took a lot of evaluation of both herself and her previous line of work. As the card symbolizes resurrection, it can also be interpreted to herald the return of individuals from the past. This also holds well for Cliodhna because that life change she finally took has placed someone from her past back into her life on a very involved level. Link to comment
Castus Posted January 4, 2015 Share #29 Posted January 4, 2015 Name: Castus Allard World:Balmung Character main class/job/role (Optional): Monk/Lancer/Black Mage Cards (recommended): Chariot/Emperor Reason for Card choice (recommended): Chariot: Beaten into him from a very young age, was the overriding need to succeed. It didn't matter what, if he could not lay a challenge low, then he was a failure. Today he is known for an unwavering sense of duty in whatever mission or job he sets his sights on. Emperor: In more recent years, mostly with the fracturing of the free company he had joined, he has taken on a more stern, authoritarian, demeanor. Those who join under him will find him a strict master, demanding only the best, in return for his experience and knowledge. Link to comment
Aya Posted January 4, 2015 Share #30 Posted January 4, 2015 Aya Foxheart (Balmung) Card: Moon Reason: Aya is a girl adrift, unsure of where she is going, or why. Similarly, at the Quick Sand she is surrounded by others who are lost, their path for life temporarily hidden from sight. Just as the Moon does not provide guidance, nor can Aya, or the Quick Sand. There is a mystery of depth to her character. Reflections and shadows, sometimes lost beneath beauty and cheer. Screen shots: Link to comment
C'kayah Polaali Posted January 4, 2015 Share #31 Posted January 4, 2015 Name: C'kayah Polaali World: Balmung Character main class/job/role (Optional): White Mage (or crime lord, if we're talking ICly) Cards (recommended): The Heirophant Reason for Card choice (recommended): C'kayah is trying to change the shape of the underworld in Ul'dah, and he's doing so mainly by hewing to a semimystical vision. He's gathered other criminals around him, and he's welded them into a single entity by interpreting this vision for them, convincing them it's the right thing to do. Screenshots! Delilah Scythewood Posted January 4, 2015 Share #32 Posted January 4, 2015 Name: Lilithium 'Lili' Altair World: Balmung Character main class/job/role (Optional): SCH/MNK/WAR Cards (recommended): The Moon or The Star Reason for Card choice (recommended): The Moon represents Lili's deity, Menphina, the goddess of love. Lili represents more of a maternal love then a romantic one with how fiercely she loves her children and those around her. The Star could represent how she is a light in the darkness for those around her, including for her lover Locke who struggles with his 'condition' and for some of the children she has come to adopt. Geisterfuchs Posted January 4, 2015 Share #33 Posted January 4, 2015 Name: Carina Lir World: Balmung Character main class/job/role (Optional): White Mage/Healer Cards (recommended): Hierophant; Death Reason for Card choice (recommended): Carina is always trying to support others, trying to be beneficial for others, even goes as far as ignoring her own needs or safety; Lately she's been under the impression that she's the bringer of death and bad things to others, mainly because most people that really touch her heart vanish or die. Naunet Posted January 4, 2015 Share #34 Posted January 4, 2015 Oh, what a clever idea! The astrologian class is definitely stirring up all kinds of inspiration. :3 I'll toss in an entry! Name: Antimony Jhanhi World: Balmung Character main class/job/role: Former financial advisor/auditor; before that she was a tribal healer-shaman that made use of bone carvings, fetishes, sand, and various dried animal and plant parts. Cards: Either Death or Judgement would be very appropriate for Antimony's character Reason for card choice: I mention the Judgement card, as it usually shows up when there's been some significant turning point in one's life that calls for a reawakening, or some examination of one's self and purpose. Antimony recently had to come to grips with a rather awful tragedy involving her youngest daughter and is struggling with how to move on from that point, trying to figure out how she fits into the life of her one remaining daughter. Alternatively, the Death card would be appropriate as it relates to new beginnings and a period of transformation - for reasons related to the aforementioned situation. She's also already had one reawakening in her life (when she fled her home and family after the loss of her nunh and three daughters to war) and is on the cusp of a second. Crisiet Posted January 6, 2015 Share #36 Posted January 6, 2015 Name: Crisiet Liautroix World: Balmung Class: Dragoon Card: The Devil or The Tower Reason: Crisiet is in many ways still bound to a way of life that has a negative effect on both himself and those closest to him. He is miserable, and believes he deserves it. As a result, he is terrified of moving on. He lost a lot once, and losing that again would be devastating. Link to comment
Duskwright Posted January 6, 2015 Share #37 Posted January 6, 2015 Name: Rathys Daystar World: Balmung Character main class/job/role (Optional): Scholar Cards (recommended): The Hermit Reason for Card choice (recommended): Rathys has a very poor outlook on life, He was constantly abandoned while Growing up and chooses to not invole himself with others, Even tho he tends to dabble with other people every so often, he tends to keep to himself and prefer not to develop any relations to anyone, with the fear of being Abandoned again. The Hermit in a Reversed Position stands for things such as Isolation, Loneliness and Withdrawal, while in the upright it stands for things such as solitude, privacy, social withdrawal, perspective and insight. Which all more or less suits my tortured little baby. :> Tumblr name (optional): http://shivaprime.tumblr.com/ Also please include 1-3 screenshots Gonna pose em as links so the size doesn't flood. @w@;; Apologies in Advance, i don't have any unedited screenies of my character. ^^; Picture 1 Picture 2 Picture 3 Link to comment

Telluride Posted January 7, 2015 Share #41 Posted January 7, 2015 Name: Nathan Telluride World: Balmung Character main class/job/role (Optional): Bard by profession, job and nature Cards (recommended): The Fool, The World Reason for Card choice (recommended): Fool: Nathan doesn't choose destinations. His feet just point at the rise of each day, and he goes where they are pointed... as long as they'll lead him to somewhere he can sleep, play a few tunes, and take in the local beauties and the local drinks. This means he sometimes runs into wonderful people and the most stirring of adventures, and sometimes, he's huddling in a tent with only a fireshard, his lute and a flask to get him through the night. But he gets up all the same, greets the sun, and seeks the next gig. What better Fool than an itinerant bard? The World: The same bard that seems like a wandering, musical hobo to you may know more than you think. He's seen the sun rise and rain fall in more places than most people know exist, and he picks up stories, bits of knowledge and wisdom everywhere. Who's going to tell your tale when it's complete? When heroes breathe their last breaths, who is it that spreads word of their glories and deeds, and cements their place in the history, legend and culture of the World? It's that bard. When your path is done, he picks it up, and shows it anew to another generation, until your deeds and your glories are as much a part of the World around as are the stars, the mountains, and the soil underfoot. Reshie Posted January 7, 2015 Share #42 Posted January 7, 2015 Name: Ereshkigal Atropos World: Balmung Character main class/job/role (Optional): Healer, more specifically SCH Cards (recommended): Strength, The Sun, The Star Reason for Card choice (recommended): Strength: The description of the card makes me immediately think of Eresh and Kuru. If anyone has ever met Kurumimi Kurumi, they'll understand why she would be the lion in this case. Eresh tends to be Kuru's balance, stopping her from blowing up things, taking people's blue eyes and other such destructive behaviors. They're best friends, knowing each other's strengths and weaknesses and balancing one another out. Many a person has said Kuru is unruly and uncontrollable but with Eresh she's not nearly as violent or homicidal. She has the patience to deal with some of Kuru's rages and the compassion to look past them to the reasons why and understand the person within. The Sun: I see Eresh holding some of these traits. She is ever the optimist even in the face of great adversity. She's also very much focused on success and seeing things through. IC, she's become successful through her trading and reclamation skills. She typically has a warm smile for those she meets and is very welcoming to all. The Star: Hope and spirituality are the big ones I see. Coming from a sea going family, she is very spiritual. While she doesn't flaunt her beliefs, she keeps an alter in her private chambers both in her home and on the family's ship. Her hope ties in with her positivity. In her mind there is always hope for something better, a hope that not all is lost and the storm will pass leaving behind a field of flowers. Also please include 1-3 screenshots Link to comment
Warren Castille Posted January 7, 2015 Share #43 Posted January 7, 2015 If I may. Name: Warren Castille World: Balmung Character main class/job/role (Optional): Paladin Card: Justice! Reason for Card Choice: Warren's role as a guardian requires a hard determination of the just and the guilty, and his determination is as integral a trait of his being as any other sum of his parts. His stoicism has led many to assume he is cold and distant, but his reasons for being aloof are reasonable, for his purposes: Closeness causes emotion to tinge the pathways of logic and reason, and Justice is a matter of Right and Wrong. The virtues and the vices depicted by the card are embodied by Warren, for better or for worse, and he takes his role too seriously to change that now. Per wikipedia: Impartiality — Distance — Coldness — Justice Objective mind — Criticism — Being clever — Insensitivity Decision — Intellect — Analysis — Realism — Severity Responsibility — Rationality — Clear vision — Logic and reason I'll provide screenshots (for real!) later tonight. right now! cuideag Posted January 7, 2015 Share #44 Posted January 7, 2015 Name: Delial Grimsong World: Balmung Character main class/job/role (Optional): Arcanist (or really a Scholar sans fairy) Cards (recommended): Hanged Man or Judgement Reason for Card choice (recommended): Hanged Man: The themes of martyrdom and perspective are very prevalent in much of Delial's life, as is that of becoming a 'willing victim' in a sense (though her perspective on the role she plays herself has been skewed so strongly she might not recognize it herself). Throughout her life, she has played the villain to the benefit of others and to the benefit of a singular greater good she believes in so strongly she cannot see the truths beyond it. Yet she has been forced to seek consider alternate viewpoints, and she has come to question her actions (particularly regarding Gharen Wolfsong and Roen Deneith) as perhaps not quite as noble as she once thought. However she continues to act the aggressor in their defense, satisfied that it shall forever be her place in the universe to be monstrous to protect the hero. The means justify in the ends, and whether or not she will be remembered as a hero (as she believes herself to be) or a villain (as others have thought her to be) is of little importance in the end. Judgement: Crossroads and change are also strong themes in Delial's character. Cause and effect and ultimately consequence are things she tries hard to control but when it comes to decisions she must make of herself, she often is given pause. She knows her calling, has lived it for years, and yet something does not feel right. Whether or not she has indeed awakened to what could be called a higher purpose has yet to be seen: yet Delial will walk on in pursuit of it, trusting in her own judgement to face whatever judgement might be cast upon her. Unfortunately, he willingly deepens his relationship with these things and doesn’t seem to find a problem with them. Tumblr name (optional): cockiestmageeorzea Screenshots: Tumblr Post Name: Juno Iskandi World: Balmung Character main class/job/role: Dark Knight, Swordsman, Scholar Cards: The Fool, The Star Reason for Card choice: Juno is the sword standing against the darkness. He fights for others to have hope, regardless of the risks to himself. On a similar note, he is also the cornerman. Any who need perking up can depend on him to stand and haul them onward. Name: Trisselle Sondraix World: Balmung Character main class/job/role: Bard/Dragoon/Whitemage. Card:Moon. Reason for Card choice: Triss has, up until a year ago, had a very, -very- unhappy life, from being beaten as a child, to being pressed into selling her body to survive, to losing the only person to ever show her sympathy. She, despite the face she puts on to the world, is a very damaged woman. Constantly afraid of being pulled back into that despair, Triss forces forces herself to go into the world with a smile, even if it is a massive lie, hoping that if she can fool others, she can fool herself. Her time since meeting Juno has, to a certain extent, helped distract her from her past, letting her forget, for a time, the struggling she had to endure to become the woman she is. Link to comment
Ha'uruh Nunh Posted January 7, 2015 Share #46 Posted January 7, 2015 This is intriguing. [*]Name: Howl (Ha'uruh Nunh) [*]World: Balmung [*]Character main class/job/role (Optional): Monk [*]Cards (recommended): The Sun, Strength [*]Reason for Card choice (recommended): The Sun: Howl is an optimistic person who has a deep faith that things will turn out. He has a mystical side that believes strongly in predestination and omens, but he always looks for the good side in these and doesn't take even bad predictions to heart. He has an innocent side to him as well in that he looks for the good in everyone and believes that everyone can be saved, everyone deserves a second chance. He is often described as a warm, thoughtful person who suits the traits given with the Sun. And of course, he's a Seeker, a suncat! Link to comment
LiveVoltage Posted January 8, 2015 Share #47 Posted January 8, 2015 Name: Inessa Hara World: Balmung Role: Investigator Cards: Justice, Strength, Judgment Reason for Card Choice?: Justice: Mainly because Inessa is an investigator, but her job is to find and attempt to find others who have committed wrongs and bring them to Justice, regardless of what the crime is or for what reason. Strength: One who does not have the strength to support themselves is as good as dead. Using her own power, Inessa became her own unyielding and unrelenting force of indomitable strength. Even in Death, she will refuse to yield from her duty's. Judgment: One who must circumvent the dangerous playground of politic's must have keen judgment. They must know who is friend and foe, who to pursue and who to pass by and ultimantely, they must not let themselves be swayed by the influence of others, or they will be lost. He could walk away from it at any time and live a much happier life, but he feels bound by the negativity that urges him to keep walking the same path.
