Gegenji Posted March 10, 2015 Share #1 Posted March 10, 2015 I've had a few... oddball dreams over the years. Usually all I can remember is bits and pieces if anything, and more often than not just have a feeling like something really unsettling or amazing passed through my brain. I've taken notes on a couple when I felt there were interesting bits to try and remember, but more often than not I just lose them to the ether of forgetfulness. There's others that really stick around, though. Last night's was one of those. It was like one of those classic splatter/horror movies. I was a government grunt stationed in... France, I believe (I had to go post flyers and call attention to them, and they handed me a beret as part of the job. Thanks, racist brain.), and for some reason Clinton was there and had his own special office with folks coming and going. So, as I leave to do my mundane errand, I'm dragging my feet and I overhear some conversation about children. The details are fuzzy but they were like informants for our organization or something taken from the citizenry. ... And apparently one of them had gone rogue. However, it was okay, he had gotten beaten up or something and brought back. However, he and the others that had "defected" had... changed somehow. They were mindlessly obedient and completely oblivious to pain. One of them latched on to me as their "master" and I was actually being nice to it and it was becoming... like courteous and polite and stuff, holding open doors for me and things like that. The former-rogue kid, though... the government officials apparently decided to have him as a bodyguard or something. So, I got this lovely "scene" where some guy with a knife tried to attack us. The kid stopped the knife with his hand, the blade piercing straight through in the process. Guy understandably freaks and the kid pulls a Raiden and uses his knife-hand to stab the insurgent in the eye. ... Yeah, that kinda shocked me awake. I'm usually, like, not really bothered by horror stuff but that eye stab has stayed fresh in my mind and left me rather queasy. And served as a sort of impetus for this thread. I have some other odd dreams as well, though my personal favorite is the one from when I was still in middle school or so where I was being chased through a mall by Bill Cosby for NO APPARENT REASON. Escaped to the parking lot, where my escape vehicle was a man-sized wind-up car. The key of said car being my weapon of choice to beat Bill Cosby up before getting away in my ride. I think I like it so much because of just how BIZARRE it was. I was just curious if anyone else had any bizarre, creepy, or awesome dreams that they can recall. And let's try to keep away from discussing the more... ahem... adult dreams. For obvious reasons. Link to comment

Kurt S. Posted March 10, 2015 Share #4 Posted March 10, 2015 Weirdest dream...yeah I remember this one dream. Damn did it raise a few questions in my head. It had something to do with an old mmo..forgot what it was anyway it was something I played with my friends after class. So the dream goes like this. Me and like my 3 other friends were in this like dungeony place when all of the sudden some hugeass monster dog thing just leaps out of one of the cells and blindsides our tank. Like literally chewed her arm off and I was like oh shit oh shit oh shit then she just stares at it like it was nothing, uncaps a potion off her pouch and downs the concoction, throwing away the bottle. Then her arm just kind grows back. For the longest while I wondered if that was how it works in MMOs too. Lose a limb? No problem, store bought potion makes it all better. Like maybe eat a Zero Form Particle Beam be a smouldering and steaming hunk of flesh walking around popping lobahawks or flash or whatever all the while the healers and their curagas just knit the flesh or maybe even recreate them or something with their magics. Strange times that. Link to comment
Cliodhna Eoghan Posted March 10, 2015 Share #5 Posted March 10, 2015 i don't really dream anymore (chalk it up to not sleeping enough in one setting i guess) but when i was younger i had a dream i was sailor moon....but like the princess form and there was this huuuge flight of stairs but i was able to jump up them super high cause....i was sailor moon and we were on the moon so gravity was different? i dunno....i think i was sick and taking cold medicine at the time >.>; Link to comment
chaoticsleepy Posted March 10, 2015 Share #6 Posted March 10, 2015 I hardly ever have such elaborate weird dreams. I just have recurring nightmares about velociraptors. Freakin' terrifying, man. Link to comment
Dogberry Posted March 10, 2015 Share #7 Posted March 10, 2015 My boss, who happens to be my 4th grade Math teacher, says I have to paint this building the color H. I climb the ladder, and notice a masked psycho who wants to cut me apart with a butterknife, and I can't think straight because the dogs are barking incessantly. I finally paint the building, but the police want to question me. That's when I woke up. Link to comment
Elaris Posted March 10, 2015 Share #8 Posted March 10, 2015 My dreams are always so weird I just don't even. I always seem to be at some unknown high school from time to time whether it be in some nightmare or just a fun one I guess. The high school is always the same one which is unknown to me, made up I'm sure. I often dream of my work too but the place is just so different yet the same some how. My dreams are always of the same made up locations which is actually enjoyable to explore as odd as that sounds. I even had a dream of playing FFXIV before, now that was just too much for me to handle. Link to comment
Gegenji Posted March 10, 2015 Author Share #9 Posted March 10, 2015 I always seem to be at some unknown high school from time to time whether it be in some nightmare or just a fun one I guess. The high school is always the same one which is unknown to me, made up I'm sure. Those sorts of dreams always seem to happen to me a lot too. I'll be in school and have a test or something that needs doing and I never seem to remember "Hey, I graduated from high school YEARS ago." I also seem to frequently get... I dunno, would it be sleep paralysis? Basically something's happening in my dream and I find I can't move my arm or do something that would actually HELP in the situation and it's always so worrying and frustrating. Like, I have something on top of me and just PUSHING IT OFF should be so easy and would fix so many problems, but my arm refuses to move. ... Hate that so much. Link to comment
Warren Castille Posted March 10, 2015 Share #10 Posted March 10, 2015 While not as much recently, I've had plenty of dreams that seemed perfectly normal; Talking with friends or coworkers or roommates or people on game/skype that never happened in real life and after a week or so, I'd forget which conversations actually happened. If anyone ever has me clarify if I asked them something or just thought it really hard, it's likely I was speaking to your phantom and not actually you. Link to comment
Little Sun Posted March 10, 2015 Share #11 Posted March 10, 2015 I have two kinds of dreams, both are weird. The first kind are the ones that actually symbolise what's going on right now in my life. Recently I lost a friend because of my stupid forgetfulness and they yelled at me on skype with insults and left. Last night I dreamt of a world where ghouls exist, but concious ones who still think and act like living humans but they possess a unique power. Tokyo Ghoul much? I was just a regular human and I was trying to keep away from the ghouls because seriously those guys are scary when I find my now-former friend and she just attacked me right away screaming things I couldn't understand. After running around and trying to avoid getting hit, I don't have the heart to hurt anyone irl made me just run, I eventually got my neck snapped and I woke up. These dreams oddly make me super aware of pain and I tend to wake up sore if I get hurt in the dream because I fricking roll around and do Tekken combos in my sleep. I'm currently suffering from a sore shoulder. Thinking back on it now, the entire thing really explains my uneasiness and fear of that person. I'm afraid of them attacking me again over something so minute and I am a weak hearted person so I can't do anything against something so powerful. The second kind are the déjà vu dreams. If I'm really, really nervous I end up sleep walking and I dream of normal life things. Most of them I actually forget, to which I'm trying to work on remembering, but on most occasions what I was doing in that dream is really similar to the day I have after the dream. Problem is I tend to forget the dream so I always have this moment of "Wait haven't I done this before?" and then be confused for the rest of the day unless I remember. If I do I just feel like some sort of psychic and I just carry on with my day. Link to comment
Caspar Posted March 10, 2015 Share #12 Posted March 10, 2015 One of my favorite dreams was one I had years ago, when I felt an indescribable desire to protect this tiny cocoon I started off carrying in the palm of my hand. It felt like the entire world wanted me to drop this cocoon; random gusts of wind, people bumping into me, even a car accident, everything conspired to make me lose the tiny silk object. Eventually God or whatever thing ruling this world stopped even trying to be subtle, summoning hurricanes and earthquakes, and I had to run for my life through town and into the room I lived in at the time. The entire building I was in shattered apart beneath me, and I could see down into the earth's molten core, but still I hung gently onto the cocoon. Then I decided after a moment's hesitation to keep the cocoon above my head, out of harm's way, as long as possible before I fell. As I plunged towards certain death, the cocoon tore open above my head, its occupant free, and I smiled to find that it was a beautiful glowing butterfly with wings of every conceivable color. There were more stuff about it, and people I knew in the dream, but that was essentially the gist of it. I still rank it up there among some of my weirder dreams, along with the one where I piloted a giant robot on an aircraft carrier, and one where my father was a narc officer. Link to comment
Kage Posted March 10, 2015 Share #13 Posted March 10, 2015 All my dreams are weird. When I moved on from Highschool to University, I used to have so many dreams that seemed centered on being at highschool still. The same friends, the campus, etc. After graduation from university, I had had dreams about being late for exams and so forth. I think I also had a dream where I missed the walk-ceremony entirely. When I was younger, I used to have many dreams that (ironically?!) dealt with more... phallic elements as my AP Psych friend had once said. Twisters. Guns that failed to fire properly or do any damage at point blank range. Getting eaten by dragons... and snakes... and the things from the Tremors movie series. Link to comment
Gegenji Posted March 10, 2015 Author Share #14 Posted March 10, 2015 Twisters. Oh man, I'm reminded of a dream I had back in elementary school about a tornado. I was back in Nebraska and in the basement of the house, looking out the window as a technicolor tornado made its way towards the place. ... I also vaguely remember another childhood one where I was sitting in my Dad's Buick Wildcat, undid the break, and sent it rolling backwards out of the driveway and into the car of the house across from us. Brake didn't work, of course. It's odd how few GOOD dreams I remember, though. I know I've had a few (including some more recently), but the only one I can really think of is having my own motorcycle-sized stealth bomber and just cruising through the sky in it. Or being JUST lucid enough to do things like start flying or otherwise mess with the dream, sleep paralysis notwithstanding. Link to comment
Mae Posted March 10, 2015 Share #15 Posted March 10, 2015 I have two reoccurring weird dreams... The first one has to do with... moving stuff. Sometimes something very small, sometimes something impossibly big. Sometimes stuff that's easy to handle/stack (like a couple small boxes) or stuff that's like "HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO BALANCE THIS CRAP?!". And sometimes it's for short distances, other times several miles. And sometimes it's perfectly flat terrain, and sometimes it's painfully jagged, or impossibly steep, or filled with chasms. I'm always barefoot, and everything except me is always this shade of cantaloupe-pink (which sort of makes sense, since that was the colour my childhood bedroom was painted). And that's all the dream was about. Moving random things through this random space, over and over. Pick something up, move it however far, put it down, pick something else up, move it however far, put it down. The other one is about doing cartwheels... again in a cantaloupe-pink space. Sometimes the space was really small and I couldn't even do one without hitting a wall, other times I could keep going for what seemed forever. Link to comment
Warren Castille Posted March 11, 2015 Share #16 Posted March 11, 2015 Last night I dreamt that Kurt Angle returned to take on the Bulgarian Russian Brute, Rusev, but I missed it because JBL was trying to chain-wrestle me in the crowd. Link to comment
Duskwright Posted March 11, 2015 Share #17 Posted March 11, 2015 I once had a dream where my skin peeled off and underneath my torn off skin, wasn't blood, bones or anything. But My fine ass Roebabe. Then my mirror turned into a portal that sucked me in and I was in Eorzea. When I came to and realized it, my friend was like "Why you sleepin' in the streets, let's go back to Camp Drybone." and I was like "Go Back? I just got here." and she went. "You've been here for 3 years.." Then I got this scar on my forehead... and when I woke up from the dream, I had the same scar appear momentarily.. and it still appears each day. Ngl. I think I need a break from FFXIV... *clings desperately to my computer* Link to comment

Telluride Posted March 11, 2015 Share #19 Posted March 11, 2015 To put a bit of a twist on this... When I was little, I had frequent nightmares - the ghost / closet monster / bogeyman / horned demonbeast variety. I had to sleep with a nightlight. There was always a sense of helplessness to the dreams. Then, something wild happened. I saw the movie Ghostbusters for the first time, and something clicked in my little mind: "Wait, we don't have to take crap from ghosts?" I never had monster / ghost nightmares again - it stuck in my mind that if four goofy guys could put on backpacks and beat up ghosts, then I could, too, in my dreams, and I went from hunted to hunter. So, yeah, Ghostbusters busted the ghosts in my childhood nightmares. Thank goodness for that movie. Link to comment
Warren Castille Posted March 11, 2015 Share #20 Posted March 11, 2015 Fuck, that was similar to me as a kid. Seeing the X-Men arcade game (HELL YES THE SIX PLAYER ONE WITH THE HUGE CONTROLLER SECTION AND OH GOD IT WAS THE BEST) and how freaking overpowered Dazzler's special was made me think "If I can just point and throw giant explosions, I have nothing to fear." And I started doing just that. Link to comment

On a related note, When I was playing Marvel vs. Capcom III, and Deadpool snarks off to Magneto, saying, "Welcome... TO DIE!", I damn near broke down laughing, because bless that murderous Canadian's gnarled little heart for getting me. But yes, becoming a gamer also did a lot to turn my dreams in my favor. I haven't had one like Rhyllona's, but if she wants to send that delicious Roe of hers to my deepest REM sleep, I'd be pretty good with that. Link to comment
