Oh well it sounded a bit rude >-<; I know the Siren in the fight had skeles but I've no idea on the primal's abilities past the songs and such *not hugely into monster lore.. should probably fix that*

As I stated... I Don't know all the lore on the mobs of the ff world... I was asking thoughts no need ta be rude about it =\ Jom - yeah well...i've learned to get along with a number of different peoples thoughts on lore an what they do character wise. They won't be getting an argument from me. They can rave as they wish. I look at things this way: if they don't break lore or make some god like character then let people enjoy how they spend their time. Ildur - actually... Now that you mentioned BG I remember that plot >-< im not sure I expected a huge drawn out story from this as far as how it happened but that is a viable way to go. Lucky me I dont recall any actions that should need recon'ing if I went the other route either. The character stayed to himself/work mostly. As far as how quick... They dont even have name change in the game yet so I was waiting till then to get my husband to stop bugging me to use the vial to changr the character. A ic name change or slight alter is the least of my worries though ^^;

The transgender is a option, not sure I could pull it off as well as I could other methods go to be honest >.< As far as the change potions being lore or not... I have come to terms that any item in the game is somehow lore. Like i've seen some pull in the lightening event weapons as lore or something to do with their characters. I dont see why they couldn't be lore really, there is magic and alchemist in this world so whos to say someone didn't make such a mixture? I ask on the lore forums about it being lore or not but I doubt it would be answered xP

well as a character he doesn't have debts, not rich by any means but he manages money and his bad drinking habit well enough. Given he is in limsa more often then not I can easily see him having a few enemies so a spiked drink or what not isn't out of the question by any means.

Faye - Well its a mix of that name thing in mumble and the fact my husband has been pestering me that when (if) the marriage system releases he wants our character to hook up. Fair enough I can see why cause we always get married in the games for giggles. But i'm also use to chat and forum rp's so I'm use to using well the name I have here as a username. ^^; It's more of a way to please my husband and the more I seem to think/joke about the idea I don't mind it. The race/skin and everything would be the same I'd literally just be switching a gender and have a freaked rp character for a while. My husband doesnt get rp's so trying to explain it to him is more of a headache and one I have been fighting for .. well from head start .__.; Jomoru - actually someone just mentioned this to me, not a epic way to go about it but I didn't care if it was epic so long as it wasn't lore breaking and all. I was trying to avoid just pulling things out of the air and my friend brought up a good fact that my character drinks more then he should on a good day and spilling something like that could easily happen (not sure how the vials work as a item ic or what not so ^^;;; )

It is true I was thinking of going the whole route of hiding the true gender all this time but I'm not sure how to explain why it was done in the first place let alone everything that happened thus far its pretty obvious the character is male as far as interactions go. >_<; But I do understand what you were saying of the gods cursed thing, though i never knew it was that common actually o-o; I was trying to brainstorm mainly cause I want to try to be as lore friendly as possible. (plus my character being female will make my husband happy for whatever reason *rolls eyes* being married has challenges at times but this is based off of a month worth of thinking over if i wanted to kill the character or find another route to try).

So rp wise I play a male character, I liked my character and planned this from beta till recently. My husband was going to play a female character, though he doesn't rp it was still part of my plans if i ever wished to do art of the two. So some time in head start I made a female character to play with my husband. Skills and professions wise she fell so far behind my main character/rp toon I stopped playing her. So for a while now I've been on my male elezen with my husbands character as we confuse poor duty finder groups when we talk and reference me as female. Upon getting into a FC that is active and being on voice chat more often then not I find I do not answer well to my characters name. I love my character I put a lot of work into him when I first made his character back in beta to apply for rp groups. So I want to pull away from the route of killing the character and making a whole new one (plus I've been told by a few I'm not allowed to do this and they would rather the character be altered then to die off). So that in mind I seem to be at a bit of a fork in the roads of needing some non lore breaking or as close as possible to non lore breaking way to change a gender of a character... just as far as the character goes they'll be scarce after said event takes place for a while thats' for sure. The ideas: Thus far i have a few ideas wither I came up with or friends offered to me, but input and thoughts are most welcome because I do not claim to be a lore master of any kind! Still learning a lot of the lore. ~ Potion or experiment gone wrong. Not like my character is a Alchemy master or anything. Could even be helping with some work somewhere and this happens for all that maters. ~ falling or ending up into a magicked (maybe cursed) spring, a idea tossed to me when I had nothing to go on at all. ~ there is the gilmore or hidden appearance route where he was always female.. but I want to stay away from that if possible. The gender hiding doesn't make sense to me. ~ magic backfire or going wrong, not sure what magic limitations there are really... ~ someone offered saying Garuda being ticked at him or pulling a spell to alter the character if he had a ic encounter with her and did enough to anger the primal summon. My other thoughts are I could see maybe Siren doing a stunt of gender change over Garuda but little is known on Siren so I'm not sure on that either... Also it could be some normal mob, I know some have strange abilities, not sure if in lore anywhere there is a rare mob or something that could do such a thing. Another suggested that the god angered for this to happen should be one of the 12. Given my character's thoughts on gods and how little he bothers with them it could happen pretty easily. He's one that his mouth would land him in trouble telling one to screw off... xP Edit: My husband did decide to toss a decent idea out there finally instead o all the joking ones. Offering the suggestion of the character being mortally wounded and one of the 12 (i dont know the lore on each god/goddess so id have to look into that) offers to save/spare his life but there is a catch to it obvously

well if you get spares from Darkhold you can sell/trade them for ones you are missing. Thus why even lv 50's that go in there need on gear they dont need in order to sell it. The mage top by itself on Balmung I think (last I checked) ran around 90k if not more. As far as the sets needed for the little achievements to wear a full set, oh I know your pain all too well. All the times I've been in there and I don't have a set of the ones for the achievements or the coliseum sets. ^^;

If I'm online I'm normally free (unless being dragged into a dungeon >->)... just toss a tell if anything ^^

I can't give a lot of input on the WoL cause I don't personally play that myself. If it came down to where my character for whatever reason has to do the primals IC'ly then I would have to figure something out but that doesn't mean that everyone who fights primals has to be a WoL .. its just the safer route to have the echo and all ;D Most of these were already answered so I'll go to something I can actually have input on like the chocobo. IC I had my character end up with one he had been using for years from work. When he was laid off due to new management the bird stopped listening to orders so he ended up being called back there to get the bird. Needless to say he has a bit of debt to pay back due to them losing a perfectly good work animal but still D; As far as the armor goes.. my main rp outfit actually its chainmail and some plate to be honest and my ic main class is MRD. The character has lancer knowledge due to where he grew up and a few skills in GLD from a few years in the Ul'dah area working as a carpenter. I don't really see why gear should be limited if you have a ic reason for it.. there could be some battle mage out there that spent a lot of time in magic training and being able to wear heavy armor for all I know.. *shrugs* I tend to be in casual wear more then armor anyway... On the same note IC I have it stated he can do some conj spells but thats pretty limited to rank 1 cure and then its hardly anything to brag about. But that bit of healing skill is from his past as well and not from formal training. More common then not he'd probably stick to conventional healing methods over trying to cast a spell ~theres my thoughts/input on things I'll be shutting up nows~

I'd be willing to join a LS for contact or ic even ^^ either works for me. I need to get off my butt and start looking now that the free company drama I was dealing with has settled (for the last time I hope) and I can focus once more on my character and doing things in the game without stressing over every little thing. D; I might have a few others willing to join in as well to further contacts or possibilities for contacts .. they just don't stalk the forums. ^^;

I can normally fix things if they've bailed early enough.. my character has taken a bit of a turn i didn't count on to say the least due to bails and trying to fix it without breaking character >_> *stubborn* also on the note of new posters or first posts .. we all start somewhere ^-^ don't put yourselves down, either of you.

I've had the rotten luck bit myself. I make tons of connections heck at one point I was working on a sort of family or sibling idea with someone who bailed after we spent a few days talking out details of things. I've noticed the same thing as far as people who complain on not being able to find rp are the ones who bail. =/ I can't complain cause I've not honestly looked that hard for rp >_> been busy till late.

my own OC from years ago. ^^; I think my inspiration for that original character was Numair from the Immortal series.. though this character in FF is a mix of that OC and another OC of mine not sure my 2nd oc had a role model so to say...

eh.. there are some aspects I've noticed without me planning it that way. not as bad as some of my past oc's that is for sure. I can't make a female character because odds are they will be a copy of me ^^;

I personally would love to see a market day type of deal that was mentioned. It would be a good way to introduce crafters and none crafters to one another ic'ly ^^ (pretty sure we have a few FC groups and LS groups that are for crafting) But I do agree there aren't a lot of events community wide... and the ones that have happened seemed to be crowded (kinda why I avoided them.. all for a crowd but there is a point when its too many). A though if there are smaller events maybe advertisement in game would be good as well... there is a good number of rp'ers that don't come here or check here often enough to catch events if there were any.

Actually this is a neat idea now that someone mentioned it ^^ keep us posted if/when your group (or any group) plans to hold these :3

Actually that was one of my hardest problems when looking for a FC was trying to find one that didn't have this huge thought out story... I'm all for some sort of story or foundation but don't force it on people as most of these grand adventure tails I've found my character just flat out doesn't fit in. He has no interest in such things thus he'd never be part of that story or the main focus of rp in that group. I have seen a few Companies that are more laid back so to say like the one I found recently that says they do have a story but they encourage their members to have their own story as well. Plus their story isn't anything over the top that or requires you to read a novel just to understand the basic idea behind it Also I forgot to mention this before... I do see RP in more then just a few spots. Granted there are hubs. More often then not tavern spots. But I have seen random groups about in the same area every so often. Though maybe its all about timing.

If anyone ever sees me around somewhere just message me odds are I'm not busy or i'll need just a moment to finish whatever I am doing and I can be ic after I've tried to not limit myself to just my FC mates or a circle of friends but to admit my life has limited that on me a bit so it's hard to just seek out random rp with my limited time frames. Though I have noticed some people seem to have a issue getting into groups or even feeling welcome into the community as a whole... so no I don't think it's just you OP =/ As far as myself going out ic'ly and starting things thats a bit of a tricky spot seeing as my character is a bit anti social at times. Though if spoken to he wouldn't be the type to blow someone off. Heck one of the best rp sessions I remember having was a lalafell asking me for directions randomly. I do agree that some groups seem to have such a story woven around them and the characters that it makes it hard if not impossible for someone to just jump in and help.. I tend to keep things dealing with my character rather open. I've also noticed a good number of people I have friendly from here so in case we're ever in the same area we can see if both sides are free for a session or so seems to have vanished from the game ^^;

as far as disruption of signals..i swear somewhere in the story quests something was mentioned... though i figured they were advanced enough to be turned off >w<

I have a plan or two with my character as in eight or so months I will have to be on leave for a short while ^^; Though my plan mainly is my character going off and dealing with a personal issue and not wanting to drag anyone else into it. It's a family matter anyway so I figured it was fair enough for him to deal with it alone... There is always the recovery process and such route or illness maybe a battle wound depending on what rp's you do. Though i do like your hangover and too much candy one I know of a few character that the hangover would fit and switch candy to just eating too much. Could even make a excuse of visiting family and turned the linkshells off (if your character has one ic'ly). Or some characters just really need some alone time *nods*

As already stated it depends on the character I think. My character personally has a bit of a distaste or distrust towards Lalafell's after a few incidents so he hardly treats them like children. On the note of other races I have seen where some Wildwood and Duskwights seems to disagree or not get along with the other but could at least compromise if they had to get together for a group. Hrm.. trying to think of some other things I've seen personally... I know sometimes I made a few ooc jokes towards my friends Roe though its jokes that ic I think would earn a good sock to the face but thats besides the point... I've also seen where Mi'qote are not really taken as serious as some other races are or kind of treated as if they are uneducated. Granted some do play out the whole tribal thing but others their characters are just as educated about the city life as the next.

Relevant to the idea of this thread (and cause I didn't think I needed to make a new thread)... Myself and a few FC mates were talking on AF warrior armor in the fact the main npc you speak with talks of his armor being a copy of the legendary armor. This being said we also spoke of a few other AF armors that are crafted upon certain quests/story or are given to the player. This excluding of course the Dragoon armor as the story behind that is there is only suppose to be one Azure Dragoon at a time. But I've not seen this limitation in other classes/jobs (unless its a class/job I have not yet gotten to 50 so I've no idea on half of them if they are limited lore wise). So my question is.. would it be safe for my FC mate to rp in the warrior AF gear or most of the other AF gear sets for that matter as a rp outfit? Also I brought up a thought on AF +1 gear.. as these sets seem to have no lore behind them, are they safe to use or is that sorta frowned upon? I thought somewhere I read that using AF sets in RP was sorta looked down on... My other thought while I am typing this out is what thoughts are there are drop/bought armor. I know my character is a smith ic'ly and I run around in armor I can claim to have crafted myself (actually the current set I use is one I crafted myself so). So what I'm asking here is are there rules on green/pink drops or bought gear that has no real lore tied to them? I could be over thinking all of this but I like knowing these things before I mistakenly step on anyone's toes (also to help inform my FC mates).

(personally I'm still a lazy persona and have yet to finish my wiki page... I swear I will in the near future >_>; ) sadly I can't say much about my character. Anything that could be a rumor would be something he doesn't really open his own mouth about so odds of someone else knowing is rather slim ^^; I've been told by a certain lalafell I met that Sal is boring actually.. though that was a ruse to get her to stop pestering him with questions and accusing him of stealing armor that he hand crafted >w< Well there is also the phobia of water he has.. that's a pretty well known fact to most that get to know him because it leads to asking how he ended up living in Limsa if he hates water >_>; I tend to call him a bit of a workaholic and frequent visitor to certain taverns... not sure what else to tell you but when I get around (soonish) to finishing that wiki page I'll be sure to include rumors for you there
