  1. Wow is it?! o_O i know I never managed to get in touch with anyone for a invite (I think it was ic and my times back then were ..er sporadic). I am saddened to hear it's not active. I didn't hear about it in so long I assumed it fell to the same fate as the other LS. :<
  2. There use to be two Elezen LS's so to say. There was just a Elezen in general one and then the smaller Duskwight one. Both kinda died around the same time. At one point someone I think tried to revive the main one but that fell through as no one was keeping track of who all was still active or not. But the reason the main one died was right.. no one talked like ever o-O I tried a number of times but no one ever really replied back haha..
  3. I guess I'm not the only one who remembers your avatar. ^^ welcome back, don't think we ever spoke back when you were active though. I more or less lurked back then.
  4. A friend of mine actually plays a character that 'studies' all combat and gathering forms for his research. Granted they also play the character as being fairly weak in most of these classes. IC their main class is a mage but more of a researcher then someone who willingly goes out to seek use of their magic skills. My personal thought on this in and ooc is that you don't have to reflect all of your maxed skills ic. I know I don't. I'm missing three classes to get to 50 still and even once I get them there I will likely never mention them IC. IC Lorraine is a Mrd. Chances are she'll never progress to being a War. Not something she has her heart set on or has the talent for. Her fighting skills are normally only used if she can't avoid a fight or if someone is in need of aid and she can lend her skills without the pair of them getting killed. I mention in her back story she knows basic lancer skills and I sometimes bring them into play if I rp a fight out. Altering how she would use her axe instead of going off of just the skills at hand. But even with training for years with her weapon of choice she isn't what I would say overly skilled or a master of the weapon. Ic she more or less stays to smithing ( I lump the two together because they are similar). She won't ic go gather the materials. Sure Ooc I do in almost all of my free time but ic I state there is a supplier due to the amount of time and dedication she puts into her work. Being a smithy is something she's trained as nearly all of her life and she can still improve. Not trying to tell anyone else how to think or handle things but this is just my thoughts/feedback on the topic.
  5. This is a bit of a touchy subject. Lorraine sees most names as being rather useless. A name can be changed and are used little more then what to call someone. She's more apt to learn someones name if they commission her for work or bother to get to know her first. Meeting someone once or twice probably means she isn't bothering to remember the name. Most who ask her for her real name after figuring that Salvius isn't exactly a female name are likely to get a response that names are pretty but worthless as she blows off answering the question. As far as anyone else's name goes.. she doesn't judge. Someone wants her to call them Mud then by all means.
  6. I can't really offer advice because I'm stuck in the same boat as being a reactive rp'er. I made the character with no real drive or plan to make her a main focus for anyone. Her role is sot be a support or go to character. In the past she's served this role very well. But I agree with what was stated here,, to get a plot going .. get excited. I know whenever I want something to happen in rp's outside of FF I talk with the people or person involved and sell what I have in mind. They'll probably add to it or make it better by bringing up something I forgot about or would never think about.
  7. I agree with Faye.. as well as several other points made in this thread actually. I remember back when you first started talking about forming a Yellow Jacket group ic'ly. Honestly I was more then excited and I tried to lend a hand back then to get you on your feet or to show support... Granted at that time I couldn't do much ic'ly to assist your cause but still. I say stick to your guns. There will always be those out there who refuse to play by any rules. I think with a little bit of work and once you get a few fellow Jackets at your side things could go very well or at least a step in the direction you first envisioned for the role. ^^
  8. Actually I'm glad I stumbled on this thread.. I was about to go edit my character information to be a bit more clear/fix a few things dealing with her creature companions. Lorraine has a bad habit of taking in strays or agreeing to help look after odd pets if asked... Not that she minds and most she'll find homes for or end up growing too attached to. This being said she has (or in the future will have) two beasts of burden. The second is still being written out so for now will be excluded. One being Zeek her faithful and over excitable Chocobo. He's been around her from the day he was born at the Red Rooster Stead. Originally he was just another work bo there and was trained for deliveries and to help about the Stead. This changed as the over sized bird refused to listen to anyone after she took her leave of her job position at the Stead. Soon enough getting a letter to take the bird off their hands. Of course not for free.. that is a debt she is still trying to pay off. Zeek has been known to get his rider into trouble.. and himself. Overly curious and acts more like a hyper active pooch. Quit often forgetting his size and knocking folks over in his friendly greeting.
  9. Interesting thought to say the least, I had plans forever and a half ago to have a friend of mine serve as where my character got her crafting materials (mainly ore) from... alas that fell through. Though I like the idea of people using this or similar sources ic'ly. Though as already mentioned most rare or sought after items are bound.. The whole reason I placed my character's back story / present job as a smithy was to try and touch base with fellow ic crafters or merchants. >w< (something i do all too little of).
  10. This thread.. has so much win in it.. I need to get a proper chance later to read everything. >w
  11. Bored enough to finally do this.. ok more like free time finally without two wee ones screaming. Lorraine or as most seem to know her as Sal or Dunois is a tad on the anti social side with all that has happened in her past. Common born smiths daughter as she grew up in Coerthas where her family had moved with her brother a few years before she was born. Eventually ending up in Limsa where she tends to reside, if she has a say in it, she still holds up her father's heritage of being a smithy. Though not overly outgoing she hardly is defenseless if push comes to shove. Now .. influences for this character.. I took a solid month if not longer back during FFXIV: ARR's beta to make her (at the time him, but that's a story for another time). There are a few things I took from my own past experiences, mainly the being able to fight despite being laid back and then the artistic ability in her trade. Personally I do not work well with metal.. at all. My talents lie in art such as drawing. Another side influence to make her a smith by trade or blood was my hobbies to repair and build computers. A skill set that has come in handy many of times. The rest of the character personality wise is a mix of some of my close friends and my grandmother. Always willing to help out and keeping a fairly happy upbeat outlook on life no matter how many stones are thrown. Any other twists and turns in the character have either happened due to rp sessions or were influenced by past books I have read. Ok.. I do have a lame reason for her picking up a two handed axe as her primary weapon choice... Limsa was part of this choice but the other reason is my own weakness for the weapon. <3
  12. Interesting concept, rather fun little read there. ^^; I'd love to help you out but I don't think ic I'd have a use for a extra hand unless they knew their way around a forge. Plus odds are she'd never go off seeking a servant. But I'm sure you'll find someone~!
  13. I don't really have much to add here but a few old FC mates of mine use to make a joke of someone in our group smoking all the Moko grass whenever we ran out during beta due to testing the crafting system. xP Though now if I find anything in flavor text here or there I'll surely let you know.
  14. Guess I'm the strange one reading everything or double backing to see what the random npc said in chatter >w<; Though I admit besides their back story as the Knights of Barracuda and them being sorta engulfed into the Maelstrom once it was formed.. I can't really find anything more on them. ^^; Also I wouldn't say Mrd is needed.. I mean obviously favored but I think it more of falls in line that the Jacket's hq is in the Mrd guild.
  15. I sorta answered that question in the lore thread actually. ^^; I did a run about of the map and only saw Jackets in certain locations. Mainly the ones more tame and holding civilians.
  16. Ok well that run about was kinda enjoyable >w< Class wise I literally saw nothing but mrd npcs.. minus the one gunner in the Coral Tower. But as someone else stated .. the tower is the hq for the Jackets so I'm sure they pick up trainees rather easily there. also fun fact I didn't see any Jackets past certain locations, mainly sticking to the more tame or civilized areas. Makes sense though if they are along the police force type. (ok a few npcs in the tower are gunners but that's the sole place you see them) edit: http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/589161283270790400/767BDF6931212B6694E9F70DE2B9A5CD929461BE/ http://cloud-4.steampowered.com/ugc/589161283270792371/D553524F57965835DAC33FF4E58BF861EA46627D/ http://cloud-4.steampowered.com/ugc/589161283270793525/EF47F89B70F9BF1E276F06FD0FE7D2D6CC9E884E/
  17. No the normal uniform isnt that bad i think the 2nd uniform I found still is only like goat leather maybe boar.. i'll have to check. All it really does is makes the boots a bit darker ...lol
  18. I'm more of running around trying to find er.. I guess rank outfits. So far only found one and I'll upload it in a bit when I get a moment. Though the only real difference is a red helm and higher level leather boots from what I could tell.
  19. Excuse to take a break from mining.. I'll take it I'll let you know and if I find the so called other outfit i swear i saw I'll screen it.
  20. Lore I will have to be more awake for.. just woke up x.x I've seen some hyur and lalafell Jackets if I remember right from little side quests and stories. Don't recall on elezen or miq'ote.. though I doubt the group is biased towards anyone willing to help their cause really.. probably roes and hyur are more common to the area then the other races? Also after offering to help you get the items together for the uniforms the other day.. it did cross my mind there might have been a few different types of uniforms. >-> I have to go through my story quests to see if I can't find if I remember right or not. Random link.. though information seems scarce like everything else lore wise: http://orcz.com/FFXIV_ARR:_Yellowjacket
  21. *coughs* we'll not talk about what is being accused or not >_> *shuffles off to the side to go back to being unnoticed* But I do agree with scanning wiki's ^^ I love reading them just because.. >w<; Probably lucky for a lot of folks that I'm not in any enforcement group. Though I'd love to see small groups or some form of story get together from rumors
  22. Oh well glad I'm not the only one who got lost in Ul'dah >-> Oddly I can make my way around Limsa perfectly well.. all the way till I get trying to figure out how to get down to the Fisherman's guild..
  23. As already pointed out, you may have to start rp'ing by yourself before anyone jumps on or inquires. I'd also recommend looking at some wiki's or character bios for the Limsa area. Like seeing what information is public knowledge or even asking the person if something is common knowledge. Maybe ic try recruiting those with certain skills who may or may not be a good fit. ^^ ~just my thought~
  24. I'd be up for trying to help with this.. though doing this and keeping to the fc's story might prove entertaining :3 I can't really give much information on the Yellow Jackets or how to go about setting up a group like that.. but here to offer support or help ...
  25. Maybe I will now that I'm home and don't have two chitlins screaming bloody murder ^^;
