  1. no reason not to have in say another couple of months, but still have a ball in the Gold Court. I mean, there are those of us that would love to take part in more ball like things, we like balls.
  2. Gladiator/Marauder can cast even more. Besides - since magic tends to come from focii in FFXIV I don't see why it would be impossible beyond a non-physics related explanation (aether doesn't like it maybe?) The reason why I brought up the paladin was more a case of we see it done in game, by a person, so it is lore rather than mechanics based, I am not sure if we see another representation however.
  3. Paladins have the ability to cast white magic, and we see sultansworn use a wand whilst in their armour (chainmail tabards), so it is possible to cast at least some basic magic within armour. Also, Dark Knight is another class that can cast magic whilst in heavy armour, though I reserve any judgements on that till we see the lore behind it.
  4. Tonight going ahead depends on Kurt. I am out for an early birthday do for myself
  5. Currently whatever the pub decides to play Xm1KNiTCa5c
  6. I agree that you couldn't do it silently, but I still maintain that it is possible still to sneak up on people whilst wearing a full harness, given I have done it. is it easier to hear someone in plate over leather or cloth, but by no means is it a given that you will. I was more or less speaking of the plate-rogue trope in roleplay. Not subtle movements. hell, in LARP sometimes its easier to notice the person trying to be sneaky over the person in full plate because of how they're moving

  8. The real reason for the Miqo'te male sit... I AM THE NIGHT!! The Masked Vigilante spies his next victim! the chocobo porter had ripped him off too many times in the past!
  9. As someone who has worn a full plate harness before, it is entirely possible to do, though it is of course more difficult. as long as you don't have anything loose hitting the armour, then you don't actually get that much of a clanging sound, and the joints (provided they are cared for properly) don't make that much noise. The problem with that justification is it pretty much opens the doors to eliminating any and all meaningful drawbacks that exist. Especially since it's usually accompanied by 'magical enchantments that somehow make the material reflect and dampen magic as well as bullets.' There's a certain charm to the classic approach of melee combatants being very physically powerful but not stealthy or particularly agile. Each to their own though! Creating a drawback that does not exist is a bad way of counteracting it though. The justification is one that is one based on real life. If cared for properly, and you move correctly it is entirely possible to sneak in armour. if you watch the video, the issue that you get is quick sudden movements (which are counterintuitive to sneaking/stalking anyway). yeah... thats just idiocy...

  11. The biggest issue you have is if the armour is ill fitted to you. Most armour has a greater range of movement than the wearer (it doesn't have those pesky bones and ligaments to worry about.) Typically a fully armoured knight would be carrying a load equivalent to a modern combat soldier, so imagine what they are capable of, and that's a pretty good estimate of what a trained knight (or fighter in general) could do. (Physically at least.)
  12. I see a lot of people who believe that a full Plate Harness restricted movement, a myth which is aided by a lot of holywood movies, to be sure, but this video should shine some light on that. MOn3aO9ORWg
  13. I'll be popping in and potentially bringing Kurt with me.
  14. So I bit the bullet and added a little Memevachi waving a wrench at people. and yes, I know my scaling is off
  15. I doubt it will require THM in the same way that NIN doesnt require THM. Primarily because cast times on a melee class tends not to work , and those are what the THM brings as Cross Class abilities But to address the overall thread, yes it is odd that they are restricting access to Ishgard in a general MMO perspective. However, I don't think they expected people to go the length of ARR without touching the MSQ at all, in hopes to do it on an expansion class. And it also makes sense from a story perspective, having played the MSQ.
  16. someone doesnt seem to get your dibs
  17. I hope I can build up the confidence to add to this, Imma terribad at the artsing. looking adorable so far

  20. It's almost as if it's a linear story....
