Hi all. I'm a woman and I have almost always RPed male characters. They're just more fun for me to write, they get better attention (my female characters always got bitchy attention), and they flow more nicely for me personally. I was just wondering who else out there has a character of the opposite gender (if I'm allowed to ask that ), and if anyone has run into any problems with other players because of this (maybe they get miffed that you're pretending to be something you're not, or feel weird playing a female around a male character who is also played by a female, and vice versa). Get chatting.

I write in third person, and past tense. I used to write in third person, PRESENT tense, but changed my style when I went from one MuD to another, and found that past tense works better. It also depends on your community. The new community I'm in writes more in past tense than in present tense, and even though not everyone writes in the same tenses, it all still works out. If I was writing by myself, I might write in first person from the perspective of the character I'm 'animating', but if there are others around and they want to read or interact with my post, then there's the added problem of them feeling a bit put off by reading someone's 'first person' perspective as if it was their own character doing those actions, because they're reading 'me, I," instead of 'he/her'. Does that make sense? >>

Hi there~ Welcome to the forums. I recently returned myself after a years-long hiatus from FFXIV, looking to get back into it soonish. I'd gladly RP with you once I do. :3 Also, I love your avatar/icon. Very cool art.

One character of mine got into an impromptu fight in a public space on a game I was playing, and he ended up injured enough that the bad guys were able to capture him, but I lay down rules (as did the bad guys) that we all agreed on to keep things being fun: Must have some RP, not just sit without RP for the entire time of capture No molestation (don't ask - just one of those 'just in case' things) No severing of limbs lol >> And only a month's capture In the end it didn't happen due to another player's nonsense, but yeah. Planning things in that regard is a good thing to do.

I have to back this as it is partly true of my own experience: on long-time perspective "organic" relationships between characters do not last. It may be not the deal of several scenes but nor in FFXIV, nor in other games I haven't managed to get a relationship for character that would last longer than 6 months without any OOC plan of both parties beforehand. The reasons were massive: in real life issues of RP partners, rolls of a dice screwed relationship (it sounds silly but significant and constant unluck can be harmful) or people just got bored with their characters and wanted to move on/leave game, etc. So the more time goes, the more I prefer to stick with certain formula: first meetings and casual flirting are good to be on the whim of fortune, however for something more both player parties have to come up with a road-map for relationship and decide on the range of responsibilities they agree to uphold. I definitely agree with an OOC roadmap. My IC relationships have all fizzled out because my characters' girlfriends never put in the work. They chased my characters hard, then once they were with them, it sorta fizzled out for them and they went on to do other stuff. Some of the players got busy, of course, but not so busy that they can't be logged in or at least send a one minute message saying what's up, etc.

I wouldn't mind if my good guy character got captured, as long as the roleplay leading up to said capture actually made sense and it seemed feasible (and I am SO not a godmodder, let me reassure <3), and being captured didn't result in severely limited RP time (like if there was RP with the capturer and/or his lackeys that was roughly similar in amount to the RP I'd be getting while free with my good guy friends, then it's acceptable). When it comes to one character controlling another, i.e capturing and holding prisoner, that's when a tiny bit of planning or 'guidelines' sometimes need to be put in place.

I'm not listening to anything at the moment (bed time), but for the last couple days, I've been listening to Linkin Park. Been a fan since their debut. I also change it up with some Coldplay, and FFXV and FFVIII soundtracks. 8D

Hi! I wasn't gonna reply because I haven't returned to the game yet (just lurking around here in the forums), so I didn't want to give you false hope. I've only Forum-RPed maybe twice in my eighteen years of RPing, otherwise all my writing has been done on MuDs and supplemented by chat (Skype, etc) RPs. But! If I do get a chance to return to the game before next millennium, I'd love to RP with you.

What a fun idea. One on One Rikielle didn't know how the first blow had been dealt, but his head was spinning and his feet shuffled beneath him, adjusting his posture to offset the loss of balance. A punch. Nothing fancy, thrown by only a naked hand of fisted fingers without glove or gauntlet, but it hurt. With his left cheek split and irritation simmering in his head, the mercenary recovered to pivot toward his foe, thrusting his palm forward. Cerulean tendrils slithered through the air and coiled around his attacker's throat, cinching the esophagus, denying airflow. Rikielle kept hold until the larger male succumbed and fell.

Two years, wow. Welcome back to your thread! I am a returning player but haven't yet got back into the game itself, thus am not RPing at the moment, but I hope to in the future.
